We had to raise a formal complaint about the poor service we received at our recent stay. The first time ever on Airbnb. The lack of instructions and clarity about what was available fell well short of what we have normally received from other Airbnb rentals. We had to pick up the keys about 11km and 20 minute drive away from the apartment and received scant instructions. The day we arrived, it was unclear which block, out of about 12 , was the correct one. The instruction said Block 1 when the sign stated Parcela 7. There is no sign stating Block 1. The keys to the gate did not work and the key fob did not work, so we walked around for about an hour trying to find the correct block. I was specifically told by the office that the keys needed to be pushed right in slowly for them to work. Eventually we got hold of the office in Fuengirola and they responded and sent someone out. The guy who came was aware there was a known problem with the keys and there is a special technique where you pull the keys out slightly after pushing them all the way in in order for them to work. This was the same for both external doors and every time we entered the building, it took a couple of minutes to get the keys to work. This was very tricky. We encountered other people who were having the same problem and they said it was well known that the locks needed to be changed. Regarding the key fob for the garage, it only works when the car is positioned over 2 black stones. This is the same when entering or leaving. It took one of the neighbours to explain this as we were stuck inside the building. We managed to get in by accident and did not understand how. There were no instructions for the TV or air conditioning which made the stay less than perfect. The boiler was unplugged and one evening we had no hot water and I had to scrabble around for about 20 minutes looking how to turn it on. The front gate can be hard to open sometimes, if you don’t push the key in all the way its smoother.’ See Description from listing ‘Welcome to this magnificent 2 bedroom apartment located in the popular Urbanization Los Prados in La Cala de Mijas, 3 minutes by bike from the beach’ – should say, this is impossible unless you bring your own bike! ‘ large TV with thousands of channels via apple TV, including Swedish, English, German, Dutch, French and much more’ – you should add, Please make sure you know how to use this otherwise it is impossible. The bikes were locked with a key and were not available. The lock with the code 3426 was in a cupboard in the apartment. When we contacted you then denied the bikes were ever available, when it was clearly offered in the joining instructions. We had made specific plans to meet our friends on bikes and could not do this. We could not find any rental bike shops in la Cala and the agency made no effort to help us get bikes. The final insult is that you have to clear the rubbish but there are no instructions as to where the bins are so we ended up taking a big black bag of rubbish with us in the car. We think the service falls far short of what is normal for Airbnb and would not recommend going there for a relaxing break. If you want stress, don't mind about uncaring and disinterested service or have kids who like treasure hunts and don't like riding bikes, then this may be the place for you.

Nice apartment with all the amenities you need. Close to shops and restaurants. The city centre and the beach are just a short distance away. Easy to take the bus to Fuengirola for shopping and nightlife. A big plus for the bicycles that give you the opportunity to explore the area and, for example, find cosy beaches.

Thanks to frank for this rental, superb apartment, very clean and spacious, bright and well decorated, with all the necessities of an apartment. The + was there terrace overlooking the pool, as well as a super comfortable bed, as well as the sofas. Nothing to say. It was splendid.
