The hosts define the meaning of hospitality and great customer service. The staff are discrete and helpful. We spent nights cooking outdoors and snuggled by the cosy fires sipping fine SA wine. We stayed at this wonderful site, unfortunately for us the weather was not there which made the accommodation access difficult, but fortunately for us, Nicole and her husband Yohan gave us valuable assistance. They were super responsive, they respond very quickly and are always nice. super hosts.

It’s a one of a kind place. Everything we had hoped for. Secluded, lots of space, private en-suite rooms. Not to mention the beautiful views. The kids climbed and ran to their hearts’ content. Even a commercial grade ice maker. Jackson made sure we had everything we needed and was up early every morning to ensure the place is in order. We shall visit again.

It has amazing beautiful surroundings as advertised, nice views, peaceful with lovely walks and fishing spots . Rooms very nice and neat. Staff extremely helpful and friendly . It’s a true gem and we had a super time , it’s definitely recommend.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Definitely planning to visit the Mountain Lodge again! Absolutely spectacular in all respects -- views, accommodation, friendliness of hosts, activities, and peaceful surroundings. Definitely a must! They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Amazing value for money and perfect for large groups! Have already been recommending it to family and friends. Can't wait to return!

We were honestly speechless upon our arrival, the Mountain lodge is honestly like something out of a Hollywood Blockbuster, Yellowstone to be exact! The accommodation is 2nd to none, the views are simply spectacular, the hiking route is so well marked and beautiful, the place was spotlessly clean, the Bass dams were fully stocked, the drive in the mountains to the dams was unreal to say the least, the kitchen is built to cater and has just about everything one would need to stay a life time(we wish we could). Nicole communicated extremely well and made sure our check-in upon arrival went smoothly, which it did. We were greeted by Bafana who humbly showed us around and to our rooms, a very friendly gentleman. We always woke up to a spotlessly clean braai and Boma and to that we thank Jackson, he is very friendly and made sure everything was 100% right . We will be back on a very regular basis. What a beautiful place to stay! We absolutely loved our stay - the views are amazing and the lodge itself is a great mix of private rooms with a large wonderful family space to get together. Bafana is such a friendly person and so helpful - as is Nicole. A great place to get away from it all for some rest and recovery. We will definitely be back!

Buffalo Hills Private Game Reserve is a true gem! The hosts were fantastic, welcoming us with thoughtful gifts that set a perfect tone for our stay. Jackson, the caretaker, was incredibly attentive and always ready to assist with a friendly smile. The game drives were spectacular, offering close encounters with wildlife. The hike to the cave drawings was a great little adventure and super special to see Buffalo Hills offers a perfect mix of luxury, adventure, and warm hospitality. We can’t wait to return!

I found this lodge by accident. It was the best accident I could ever ask for. I went there with a group of friends to celebrate my 30th and it went beyond my expectations. It’s absolutely breath taking to be there. The hosts were so helpful and accommodating for anything we needed or worried about. Jackson was an absolute star arranging a fire for us every morning and cleaning. I simply have to go back. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful space with us.

Was so happy to discover this place was well worth the extra effort required to get there! The beautiful stone cottages stayed surprisingly warm on cold nights, while the main cabin was amply heated by the fire. We saw so many animals including the buffalo who graze nearby as dusk falls, we couldn't get enough of the expansive views and challenging hikes. Watched the sunrise from our bed in the topmost cabin. Really a dream. Can't imagine a nicer bush camp! Glad we got all our groceries on the way so we never had to leave during our stay. So much fun to cook, braai and eat in this incredible setting. One of our very favorite stops on a long trip from the States.

Amazing views. You have the whole reserve to yourself. Jackson, the housekeeper, is a star - he keeps the place in an immaculate condition. Pros: private, secure, secluded, has generator for loadshedding, rooms are kept clean, has all the equipment needed for self-catering. Cons: when we arrived, the one room was so damp, we could not sleep in it; the other one room's carpet was wet. Best to check if this is fixed before booking. The host did come check it out first thing the next day. Remedies were applied. However, the thatch roof was still leaking after rain. The host basically ignored me after the second time I messaged them about this. Being very secluded, it is highly recommended to have a high clearance vehicle, a long stretch of dirt roads. Took us about an hour to get to the place from tar road. There are some nice game to view on the reserve. We saw cows, buffalos, sabels, a zebra, impalas and many birds.

Buffalo Hills was nothing short of amazing.! Bafana , Johan and Nicole were extra helpful and made us feel at home. Only thing is we wished we could’ve stayed longer! Stunning place and we cannot wait to make a longer trip.

What an awesome place tucked right into the mountain in the middle of nature. The accommodation is rustic but very comfortable with everything you need. We were there for 5 nights but could easily have stayed longer. Jackson was great at keeping the kitchen clean and making sure the fireplaces were cleaned out daily and topped up with wood ready to be lit. He was always available if we needed anything. Nicole was also very friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back.

Truly a piece of heaven. What an amazing weekend. Visited with a group of friends and was far better than expected and the pictures. Think this will be a new annual get away. Felt like you are literally living in your own private mountain. The accommodation was top class and had everything that we needed. They definitely cater for groups with large casserole dishes, pots and pans, etc. you really don’t need to bring anything extra from home. Loved the industrial ice maker and very large fridge capacity. The generated is a life saver with load shedding. Thanks so much for all the firewood which was in abundance. Just want to give a special thanks to Bafana who looked after us so well during our stay. He is truly an asset to the establishment. Well done on creating a spectacular and magical place. Thanks for the lovely gifts on arrival.

It was a particularly beautiful neighborhood, great service and amazing views. You could have stayed longer very well. The path was passable, but a 4x4 would also not be bad. We still made it with the normal car.

What a magical spot for a longe weekend away with all our family. Love the layout and space that each family got their own “hut” . Well equipped and plenty of fire wood to keep us warm in the freezing cold. Jackson the houseman would just appear at the right time to help keep the kitchen clean and help with any needs . Absolute stunning place, right next to the mountain with a beautiful view. The cottages are beautifully done and the main room has a big fire place, where the whole family gathered at night. Amazing hikes on the farm. Nicole is a great host, extremely helpful and welcoming.
