Lovely place to stay for a few days break, hot tub is great once you get the hang of lighting and feeding the fire. They could do with having a step up to the platform where the hot tub is located, we had to use one of the chairs as a step! The only criticism is that there was a bin full of rubbish outside the entrance, presumably from a previous tenant.

Swallows End was a lovely little apartment nestled away. We found the location perfection to travel to Torquay, Teignmouth and Dawlish very easily. For the height of summer and premium prices that were paid we were disappointed with our stay. The apartment was very dusty with spiders all over, the kitchen tap constantly leaked and was generally not the spotless clean you would have expected. The pool and sauna were lovely but owners dogs barked a lot making the relax by the pool not so much relaxing. The hot tub is lovely but is lengthy to fill up and a full time job to keep it warm. We overall enjoyed our stay but felt it wasn’t as amazing as advertised and for what we paid.

Misleading advertisement - unhelpful and not privte. Barely any natural light in the appartment. No real view out the appartment. The hot tub is overlooked and the patio area is squashed as there is a gas BBQ. The 2 apparments are connected to the owners main property. The swimming pool building is directly connected to the owners property. The rear-garden is not fully fenced. The rear garden is not directly accessible from the appartment. The swimming pool is not visible from the appartment. The front garden is overlooked by the owners. Upon arrival there were 40+ spiders in the flat, upon complaining the next morning; i was told that this was normal and to expect spiders as its hot weather and spider season. This AirBnB was for my gf's birthday and was a very disappointing experience, and something that we spoke about throughout our stay. The pool is nice, but the water was too cold for my gf, i personally found it okay, but not certainly not warm.

Lovely little spot on the edge of the moors, sauna and swimming pool are a 1min walk from the flat, but are fantastic and well maintained. The hot tub is excellent, not as private as you might think :) and takes a bit of love and attention to heat up, but worth it! Flat is small and homely, perfect size for a couple!

A beautiful place with everything you need for a few nights away. The swimming pool and sauna area are immaculate and extremely well done. The apartment is cosy and the outdoor area provides just enough space for a pleasant evening in the hot tub and a small table to eat and drink. The hot tub does take some effort to get going by filling and heating up with wood (as detailed in the welcome pack) so take that into account if you're not used to maintaining fires. We were welcomed by the hosts but other than that left alone in this reasonably private and secluded stay.

In the description it sounded beautiful but once on arrival the pool was cold fresh said it should be between 26 and 28 turns out was 18 and that was the highest temperature went to the Jacuzzi was not on or filled up ready for use at all and the sauna did not work

Beautifully secluded location. Set in a beautiful part of Devon. Close to many beautiful beaches including Ness Cove, Teignmouth, Torquay. Close to Exeter & other towns. We found two amazing pubs close by, would recommend The Cridford Inn & The Bridford Inn… Amazing food & setting!!! The apartment has its own wood-fired hot tub which is a massive perk (allow time to heat). They have a fabulous swimming pool & sauna on site.would recommend this air bnb.

The accommodation is very comfortable and beautiful, the surroundings are beautiful, there are many walking routes, fishing opportunities, the beach is close. so I can only recommend it.

This place has the potential to be a truly lovely getaway but due to some misleading advertising we left feeling rather ripped off. I messaged Fresh Escapes expressing my grievances with loose wall sockets, stained sheets, mould on the blinds and no wifi. I also have a broken leg and the property was advertised as mobility friendly. It isn’t. Rather than responding to my complaint and knowing they had made a mistake they decided to surreptitiously update the Airbnb listing to correct this. I then phoned them and was told that it would take them 1-2 days to get back to me. We were only staying 3 nights. I phoned again and the ‘Co-Founder’ of Fresh Escapes, James, was neither helpful or pleasant. He refused to offer any form of compensation if we left the property, then proceeded to question why I was booking the holiday with a broken leg. The audacity to interrogate me as to why I was looking to enjoy my leave in a mobility friendly home calls into question the nature of his character.

The property is very quiet and also private. The pool and sauna is in very good condition. The apartment itself is a bit outdated but also very clean. When we were there, a big black dog showed up at the door every now and then. He was sweet, looked a little unkempt and I didn't think it belonged to the estate. So it's better not to leave the door open.

The interior of the accommodation was clean. However, it’s showing signs of wear and tear, and some of the main plug sockets were faulty/extremely dangerous and couldn’t be used. The internet was down during the entirety of our stay so we had no access to any online resources/internet/tv and there is no mobile reception there, so we couldn’t keep in contact with anyone unless we left the accommodation and drove away from the house. The courtyard is very misleading. It is NOT private; the main house directly looks over the hot tub and can be seen by the apartment above/guest garden. The courtyard is also very dirty/unsafe as there are no steps up to the platform where the hot tub is located. My partner slipped when climbing down due to lack of stairs and fortunately avoided an injury. BBQ was filthy and clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time.

Beautiful little spot. A lovely valentines get away and dog friendly so our fur baby could come along with us too. There’s beautiful walks around and we took a day trip over to the national trust parke and it was lovely! The hot tub was great, not a jacuzzi so no bubbles but all fresh water and no chlorine. Although the hot tub wasn’t as private as we originally thought, the grounds were quiet and peaceful and we spent every evening relaxing under the string lights. We didn’t get round to using the pool and spa facilities, but we did have a little look around when we first arrived and it all seemed very nice and much like the photos on the listing. The apartment itself was beautiful and well cleaned, very comfortable sofa and bed. I would definitely recommend staying here and both myself and my boyfriend would stay here again!

We had a lovely stay in Swallows End. It was a peaceful location and nice, modern, clean apartment. The hot tub was also lovely and easy to use (it’s not the most private location for the hot tub as residents/others do drive or walk past but this is rare). The hosts were very welcoming and on hand to help with any queries. The place was also super dog friendly which was lovely. We did have a couple of issues with Wi-Fi and couldn’t get the SKY TV to work but these issues were out of the host’s hands as there was an area issue with the satellite. When we raised questions regarding the signal, we had answers from the owners very quickly. Would definitely recommend for a quite Dartmoor escape☺️

Was a decent stay, had issues with lighting the hot tube it would be nice if it had a roof so it can still use it even if it rains. WiFi cut out a few times but only for a short while. Besides that everything was good nice area a candle to burn would be nice as there was a slight smell in the apartment (dog smell).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swallows End. The setting was beautiful and within easy reach of many fantastic walks, and the property was well equipped, particularly for al fresco cooking and dining. Laurence was a relaxed and helpful host, though real credit should be given to elderly Labrador Bentley who insisted on showing us around as soon as we arrived! We loved using the wood fired hot tub (worth noting: do start filling it up as soon as you arrive as it took a long time to fill and heat) as well as the sauna and swimming pool. So relaxing. We hope to return soon.

Lovely little bolthole. Well equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer etc (but need your own washing powder). Salt and pepper provided, as were some tea/coffee bits. No shower stuff. Dog friendly and nice garden area to supervise the dog in, but dog needs to be watched as there are sensors that trigger the main gate being opened. Very little internet reception and lanes quite difficult to navigate in the approach. Parking access is quite tight to navigate. Hot tub is lovely but took several hours to heat up and lots of attending to (wood powered), so we only used it once.

We felt so relaxed while we were here. The pool, facilities and gardens are simply stunning, real luxury. The family pets and wildlife are great too. A great location for a peaceful, relaxing time. Lovely and very welcoming hosts too. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely, comfortable, yet basic place for a couple to relax in the middle of nowhere. The cottage is well appointed from a furniture point of view and provides a break from the world should you need one. There were a few key amenities missing and so discussion with both Fresh Escapes and Laurence who lives on site was ongoing throughout our stay. The team made effort to pickup where their cleaning / supply team had let them down. It is located in a good location on the edge of Dartmoor and we used it as a base to go into Exeter, Dawlish for the seaside and walks in Dartmoor itself.

Hi, It really was a beautiful place but for the money I’d just expect more luxury and little additions… toiletries, cleaning spray, cotton bedding, feather pillows, proper shower and not a bath shower etc etc… if I stayed in a hotel for £350 a night you’d have a lot more. I’d also expect to be able to use the coffee machine if there’s one there…it’s currently not value for money and you can . However the settings, pool, grounds in general were stunning…

I paid £320 a night and came away quite disappointed in my choice, partly to do with how this property was sold to us and the shared / broken facilities.. Cons: You’re literally living with the owner of the house and his family and their dogs, which is fine if you don’t mind feeling awkward and swimming in their pool while they eat dinner or, breakfast and stare at you.. we also had to share their shower because the hot water was broken for two days.. which meant walking through a courtyard in your dressing gown to go into their property, via their pool, also in their property, all feeling very intrusive and weird Poor WiFi - less than 1mg No phone signal at all, ever, so if the WiFi is down you’re pretty much stuck Hot tub is a wood burner and you spend your life attending to it, once it’s hot, it is quite nice until you have to get out and stoke the fire again, bit painful Cheap appliances and old lived in furniture Tiny bed TV is not satellite as sold, it’s free view and Netflix The property above can see you in all your glory from their room while you’re in the hot tub Before checkout they expect you to do more cleaning than they did when you turned up - we found mice droppings in the saucepan, the tea cups had dust in them and the outside table still had bacon and mayo on it from the previous tenant.. that is supposed to be a COVID clean and the reason we couldn’t check in earlier - really.. Cheapest bbq I’ve ever seen in my life.. ok it did the job but overall this property is lacking any premium feel whatsoever. It also lacks management.. we spent the best part of our second evening with a lodger! Yes, the plumber decided to turn up uninvited and unannounced and spent the best part of the evening tuning through our property, then into the garage, then back out, then back in again! Even though us having dinner and he didn’t even ask permission to enter the property he just assumed we were ok with it.. I understand he is there to fix the hot water but why didn’t he fix it during the day while we were out! Pros: Location was lovely with a huge garden Stream at the bottom of the garden Nice family Dogs can roam free Secure gate Good luck!

The place was amazing ! We had an wonderful stay. In the heart of nature ! Waking up in the morning on the river water murmur. We have visited the highest England waterfalls ( Lady Exbourth’s waterfalls) 30 minutes by walk. We had a very relaxing time in the sauna and the hot tub ! The area was quiet Many other things to do around and in the city Center which is not too far (15 min by car) . We highly recommend this place! We will come back soon . Credit to Fresh escapes for sorting out any issues whilst we were staying at the property. However, some people that you meet make your stay even better, this goes for the homeowner Laurence. He went above and beyond for our stay and it makes that difference. For those thinking of staying here, do it! It’s 100% worth it!

The property is beautiful and location wonderful. Unfortunately it didn't feel value for money but Im sure that's not helped by inflated Airbnb rates with post-lockdown travel right now. You're very much connected to the main house and also another airbnb stay, and the pool/sauna is shared with everyone with a bit of an awkward view in to the family room. So not really private, but all very nice. Apartment cleaned well but we did have some feedback on things to improve in the kitchen. Friendly owners + agents. Directions are quite difficult so be aware finding it.
