Nestled in the postcard-perfect village of South Milton, Pear Tree Cottage is a romantic, inviting countryside hideaway designed for couples. Fully renovated to a high standard while retaining original Georgian charm, this delightful stone-built cottage offers a peaceful sanctuary within easy reach of stunning beaches, scenic walks and the South Devon AONB.
Inside the Cottage
Cosy Living Room with Woodburner
Step inside and discover a warm, welcoming living area where original character meets modern comfort. A romantic woodburner creates the perfect atmosphere for evenings snuggled by the fire—whether you’re reading, watching TV, or planning the next day’s adventures.
Woodburner
Supplies such as fire lights, kindling and logs are provided for guests for their first night stay. Any future supplies are to be provided by the guest during their stay.
During the months of June through to the end of September the guest will be required to provide their own supplies including the first night stay.
Bespoke Galley Kitchen
The custom-made galley kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking, offering everything you need to prepare meals with ease. A separate utility room, located just across the rear passage, provides extra convenience for longer stays.
Bathroom & Bedroom (First Floor)
From the living area, climb the cottage staircase to reach the serene bedroom and bathroom:
Bathroom: A classic layout with bathtub and overhead shower, washbasin and WC.
Bedroom: A peaceful double bedroom furnished with pine pieces, a walk-in wardrobe, and charming original features.
Private Balcony: A stable door opens onto a beautiful south-facing balcony—the perfect morning coffee spot with captivating views across the countryside and down to the village.
(Please note: as a period property, the upstairs doors are slightly lower than standard.)
Outside Space
Just across the pathway is your private enclosed garden, a tranquil setting with lawn, flowering shrubs, and views of the village church and fields beyond. With multiple seating areas—ideal for al fresco dining, reading, or simply enjoying the sun—you’ll have plenty of opportunities to unwind outdoors.
Pear Tree Cottage offers the peace of the countryside with the added benefit of being close to beaches, coastal paths and charming villages.
Staying Rules
The owners kindly ask that guests look after this cherished home:
- Please remove shoes when entering the cottage
- No smoking inside the property or in the garden
- No pets
- No candles or open flames
- An initial supply of logs is provided; extra logs available locally
- No children or infants (including babes in arms)

A lovely stay in a small but perfectly formed cottage. Particular praise for the excellent log burner and well stocked kitchen. It would have been useful to have a bit more information about where precisely to park, especially as we arrived at night, but it didn’t take too long to work it out.

The cottage was beautiful, very small but had everything you needed and the view from the balcony was fab. All communication was sent via a portal rather than in a message on air bnb. I would recommend you read this and screenshot it as signal near the property is non existent and we had to go back to the main road to get signal to find out the key box code to get into the property.

Noise & Neighbour Consideration Please respect our neighbours and keep noise levels to a minimum, especially between 1030 PM – 8 AM No loud music inside, parties, or disruptive behaviour. No music to be played outside. 3. Smoking, Pets & Candles No smoking or vaping inside the property. A designated smoking area is available [if applicable]. For properties that accept pets, please clean up after them and keep them off furniture. No open flames, including candles or incense. 4. Cleanliness & Waste Disposal Please keep the property tidy and leave it as you found it. Dispose of waste in the designated bins. Recycling instructions can be found [location]. Report any spills or damages immediately to help us address them quickly. 5. Kitchen Use Feel free to use the kitchen, but please clean up after yourself. Ensure all appliances are turned off after use. Do not leave food out to avoid attracting pests. Clean all dishes and pots before putting in dishwasher 6. Damage & Breakages Accidents happen!
