The owner is sure to respond here and argue that he did what he could to fix the issue of a filthy property. But he did little to solve the problem of a ruined stay - which was to have been a very special 60th birthday celebration for three friends. We arrived to find the property filthy - they’d forgotten to clean it. I made a phone call immediately at 1725 - and then followed that up with message on AirBnB. We had nowhere to go, were fresh off the beach and were all in tears as we called husbands to try to work out what to do. I finally received a call at 1842 - over an hour later. I explained our situation and how devastated we were. There was no apology from the Fresh Escapes owner. He suggested he’d get a cleaner around - but that they could not get there for 45 mins. They would then have to fully clean a 3 bed apartment. We didn’t see how this could be achieved properly in sufficient time. We cancelled and I was refunded the cleaning fee. Nothing else. No space to say more.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay in Teignmouth and there is lots to do in the area, we would love to come back again as we enjoyed it so much. Very pleased with our accommodation, spacious, clean and in a very good location. The views from the balcony in the morning and evening are perfect. Everything is close by and easy to find. The parking options were also good, easy to find and reasonable.

Amazing location, on Back Beach, a few steps from shops and pub and restaurants. Thoughtful touches - bubbly and milk in the fridge and cookies on arrival. Stunning view from two bedrooms and sitting room. Great to have two bathrooms.

We had a lovely stay here! The view from the terrace was breathtaking at sunset, and waking up to sea views from the fourposter bed was a dream. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. We had a lovely lunch on the Sunday at the Crab Shack, for which they gave us a little discount as we mentioned we were staying upstairs. Weirdly we were woken up on Sunday morning by the multiple Alexas all talking to each other... But we were all waking up then anyway and found it quite amusing. We all fell in love with Teignmouth, and are already talking about coming again next year!

This is superb place with balcony overlooking the Estuary . Great pub next door and seafood restaurant below . Dog friendly beach nearby . We loved our stay . They even left us milk eggs and bacon for us to cook breakfast !

Great location and the apartment was very stylish and well equipped. We loved the artwork and quirky decor. We had a warm welcome when we checked in as the lamps had been switched on and gentle music playing in the living area. It was fabulous to sit on the balcony with an early morning cup of tea, to watch the world go by.

Lovely stay and a top location. Please don’t be put off by the no parking. £30, 7 day permit to use across all Teign council car parks. There are a couple of massive car parks within 2-4 mins walk from the property. Ended being quite useful, as we went to other attractions that were Teign council run and parking was taken care of. Amazing views, great beds, great communication by the owners. Would stay again, 100%.

Reported following problems on Saturday, young man came who was not able to fix anything but remake the damp bed and report to owner. Never heard from anyone again. Here is list of the problems: 1. Leak in the ceiling over the bed which was soaked and not usable when family visited for the night. 2. Shower in en-suite was dangerous and unusable all week. 3. Top oven was unusable all week. Other minor problems: 1. Bathroom door doesn’t close without effort. 2. En-suite bedroom door doesn’t close at all. 3. En-suite bedroom has bedside lamps but no switches so you have to get out of bed to turn off. 5. Main bath taps are loose. 6. One of the dining chairs has a very loose back.

The Crab Shack is fantastic! The location on the beach is superb and proximity to pubs, groceries etc excellent. The restaurant downstairs is an unexpected bonus as they will deliver upstairs if they are busy with guests in the restaurant. We hope to convince others to go!

Good position and views. Can be a bit noisy on Friday/Saturday nights, but this goes hand in hand with staying next to a pub and above a restaurant. Great atmosphere though.

Amazing location and stylish apartment. However, very poor standard of cleaning throughout and found dog faeces on the back balcony used for BBQ! Some other health and safety issues with loose stair carpet and electric sockets. Also stuff like - no lock on bathroom door, no blackout blind and unable to open window in one of the bedrooms and no hair dryer - stated in write up there was one - not great with 4 x women! We made one request for a tea pot and there wasn't one there!

A wonderful, homely apartment in a great spot. The sunsets on the balcony were awesome. The Crab Shack staff were on hand for anything we needed - including gutting our freshly caught Mackerel! The PlayStation was obviously a hit with everyone but so too was being able to stroll the two minutes into town for fish and chips, fudge and a nice drink! We would definitely come back here!

Not quite as we expected based on the photos. The apartment has a great view however it’s quite tatty and in need of some work in areas. During our stay it hadn’t been cleaned very well, the carpets, chairs and sofa were dirty and stained. For the money we paid we were expecting better.

We had a lovely long weekend in Teignmouth, the Crab Shack was in a fantastic location for the back beach and the main beach, easy access to car parks. We will definitely be booking to return in the future. The food and service in the restaurant was outstanding.

Gorgeous view, even in the rain! Lovely decor - very beachy! Spacious- excellent for a large family. Plenty of fridge, freezer space and lovely large dining table for family meals overlooking the beautiful back beach and estuary!

Brilliant apartment for a girls getaway. The weather was grey but it didn’t stop us swimming, paddleboarding and enjoying the area (we particularly loved the ferry to Shaldon and swimming at Ness Cove beach). The Crab Shack is perfectly located, beautifully decorated and has a lovely ‘beach hut’ feel. It was wonderful to have the Crab Shack restaurant deliver to us from downstairs, too. The cleanliness of the apartment could have been better considering the cleaning fee (e.g the tops of banisters and the glasses), and the plastic bedding and broken lock in the bathroom were surprising for an apartment described as luxury. We’d definitely recommend the Crab Shack though, and hope to come back!

Great place with a stylish contemporary interior. Everything was spotless and well thought through. Right at the back beach so except the smells and noises that go with it! Food at the Crab Shack was excellent!

A beautiful apartment with a beautiful view. A little TLC needed throughout the apartment but overall a great stay. We would highly recommend paying £25 for the weekly parking permit, as there are a few car parks around only a short walk away. Absolutely fantastic hosts, and the crab shack dinner was delicious!

The view has got to be the best in Teignmouth - having the Crab Shack underneath is such a bonus especially as the staff are so friendly and attentive - they also bring food to you upstairs which the kids just loved! If you enjoy people watching then you’re in for a treat - if you enjoy walking then take the ferry over to Shaldon for wonderful views. This is the perfect place for a getaway for all ages with all you need close by.

This is such a fabulous location and the food from The CrabShack was wonderful. Unfortunately when we visited the property wasn't as clean as we would have hoped (particularly as we were charged a £100 cleaning fee). For somewhere that describes itself as luxury the bedding and mattresses weren't really good enough. I have never stayed somewhere before with plasticised duvets. I hope this was just an out of season blip but it was very disappointing. We were promised half the cleaning fee back but have yet to see any refund.

As a weekend getaway to Devon you will be hard pushed to find a better location. Right in the heart of Teignmouth with a handful of pubs (and 1 quite special Gin bar) all within a hop, skip and a jump of the front door, takes care of liquid refreshment and the Crab Shack restaurant below is an absolute must for food. We booked ahead but needn’t of worried as the staff offered to deliver the food upstairs if we’d wanted. Once you’re fed and watered then you can sit back and take in the stunning vista from the the balcony, Devon at its very finest.

The apartment is well located very close to the beach. The pictures provide an accurate description of interior and exterior. The rooms are big, comfortable and well equipped. Our daughter was happy with finding toys both in the living room and in one of the bedrooms. There was quite a lot of noise from the local pub, but we thought this was somewhat charming also.

Wow what a fabulous apartment, very tastefully decorated with a nautical theme through out which was very apt, amazing location, looking over the back beach with fabulous views of the estuary. No need to use car, everything on your doorstep, amazing restaurant, the crab shack, shops, cafes, pubs, and a really great atmosphere to the area. We were very lucky with the weather too. We enjoyed our ferry trip over to shaldon and sampled a few more G&Ts. Great apartment and we can't wait to come back.

We had a great weekend at the Crabshack Apartment and is certainly dog friendly with the balcony providing lots of entertainment for your waggy friend to watch as the world goes by. The apartment literally overlooks the restaurant and pub goers which spill out all around the beach and quay. So don't expect outdoor privacy whilst sat on the two balconies. Only go if you want to be part of the hubbub of activity going on below from morning until night during a busy and hot bank holiday. No doubt it is a lot quieter at other times. And be prepared for an aroma of smells when it's hot!

We had a fabulous stay with our family, it was home from home. Nothing was too much trouble, providing us with a high chair for our toddler and kindly giving us hints and tips on the local amenities. We are looking forward to staying again during the summer.

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful flat. We really enjoyed our stay in Teignmouth and been woken up by the sound of the sea every morning. It reminded us of been back in Mallorca, where we are from. The beds were super comfy and been able to have dinner from the Crab-shack upstairs on Friday evening was a lovely treat, as the food was delicious. Even though we had a few hiccups with some appliances in the flat ( no hairdryer and a badly burnt iron) we had a wonderful stay and were very lucky with the weather. We even managed to swim in Ness Cove Beach.

The apartment is located right on the beach and has a lovely balcony overlooking the beach with stunning views across the estuary where there was always something going on and was great to just sit and just relax with a drink. The apartment has 3 spacious bedrooms with an en-suite to the one that over looks the beach, another bedroom has a double bed and the 3rd bedroom has 2 singles & a bunkbed with the bottom being a double which is a good touch, the property is perfect for 2 families to share and the kid would love the 3rd bedroom which sleeps 4. The front room has a large sofa and the TV is massive with Sky, there is a large table that everyone can sit round to eat and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could want in a kitchen. There is a lovely pub 20 m from the front door which serves good beers and the food is excellent. Would defiantly recommend this property if you are looking to stay in Devon

The crab shack is fantastic, great location, lovely house and really stylish interior. We stayed with 4 adults, 4 children and a dog and there was plenty of room. Teignmouth itself is great, loads of stuff for kids (and adults) to do and everyone really friendly. We ordered food up from the crab shack one evening and it was excellent so recommend that and also the kids loved meeting Laura Wall in her gallery - the author of the Goose books that are in the house (and painter of the picture on the staircase - we have ordered a print as well). We would thoroughly recommend this place and certainly plan to come back ourselves - also James and Jenna were super helpful and friendly.

Would highly recommend anyone stay here if they're planning on visiting Devon. The flat was a perfect size for myself and 4 family members, all who were visiting from Canada and instantly fell in love with the English seaside. It was wonderful to escape London for a few days and relax in the cutest town. It helped that the weather was amazing, but we loved spending evenings with a drink on the back patio watching the hustle and bustle below us. We could walk everywhere and there are a lot of cute breakfast and dinner places nearby. I already want to come back. Thank you!

Had an amazing weekend stay at the Royal Escape, Crabshack. The apartment was stylish and the small touches were amazing. Great accommodation and food and so easy when visiting with the dog as the beach is right on the doorstep. Beautiful view from the front balcony, definitely worth a visit.

The Royal Escape is an absolute gem of a place to stay. You genuinely couldn’t be closer to the water without getting your feet wet so it’s perfect for just parking up the car for the weekend and exploring on foot. There’s plenty to do in Teignmouth- we popped to Sheldon on the ferry for lunch, enjoyed some kayaking, walked along the beach and wasted time at the penny-arcade on the pier. The apartment is beautifully presented and was spotlessly clean on arrival. We were stunned by the lovely selection of tasty produce that was left for us from pastries and bread to cheeses and fruit. Oh, and wine! The bedrooms are all exceptionally spacious and comfortable. The living area is just great fun for a group with a huge dining table, big sofas (and an equally big tv complete with an X-Box!) and a lovely balcony overlooking the bay (from which our Labrador Donington loved to people and dog watch!) Food from the Crab Shack was amazing and the lovely staff were more than happy to bring it to the apartment. We really can’t wait to return!

Our stay at The Great Escape was brilliant, thank you so much Jenna and Paul. The house is decorated beautifully and is very well equipped (ironing board was v handy!). From the honesty bar, to the lovely welcome hamper you really made our trip that extra bit special. We come each year to the area so will be returning next April to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun set over the beach.

Great trip away to celebrate my Mums surprise 60th. The location is brilliant with gorgeous views over back beach. Short walk from the main beach and promonade. Quay Road Car park (TQ14 8EL) is about 2 minute walk away and cost us £3.60 for 24 hours over Easter weekend, this may rise in peak summer months, we unloaded the car outside the accommodation first as we had a lots of luggage (baby in tow) so would advise this and then parking. The accommodation was great with ample space for 8 adults 1 baby and 2 dogs! 2 double bedrooms, one with ensuite, the third bedroom had 2 singles and a bunk bed with double on the bottom. Lots of books and toys for young children so no need to bring your own! The decor was lovely with lots of beautiful details. Lovely welcome hamper on arrival which went down very well! The restaurant downstairs is run by the same owners and the staff were very helpful when needed. We had a brilliant time and would have loved to have been able to stay longer! We will definitely be back in the future! Thanks again for a lovely weekend.
