The space
Summary:Captains Cottage is a newly renovated gem tucked away in the heart of Dartmouth, just off the charming shopping lane of Foss Street. This cute yet stylish cottage has a fun nautical theme, cleverly set out over three floors with maximum comfort in mind. The master bedroom boasts a Super King Size bed, and the bathroom includes a very large walk-in shower. Start the day refreshed in the large kitchen-diner. Then return to the bright, airy first-floor lounge to relax above the bustling town below.
Accommodation:
The front door leads into the open-plan kitchen-diner, with wood-effect flooring throughout and plenty of hanging space for coats. The dining area comfortably seats six, and there's a large wall-mounted smart TV. The shaker-style kitchen includes a coffee maker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and washer-dryer.
Upstairs is the lounge with comfortable sofas, nautical-themed décor and a large, wall-mounted smart TV. One of the sofas doubles as a sofa bed. Window seating provides additional space to relax and watch the world go by. The family bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a rainfall-effect feature.
The master bedroom has a super-kingsize bed. It is a 'zip-and-link' bed which can be configured as two full-size single beds upon request when booking. The second bedroom has a double bed.
Parking:
There is space to pull up outside for unloading and a car park permit for the Mayors Avenue Car Park (about a minute's walk away).
Please note that at significantly busy times of the year, such as Regatta and the height of summer, the pass does not guarantee a space. On the rare occasion the car park is full, there is a park and ride at the top of town, and fees apply.

A great base to explore Dartmouth. Very warm/cosy, clean and comfortable. Stairs perhaps a little daunting for the very young and very elderly but otherwise superb. Great for dogs with plenty of space downstairs without carpets for rainy days! A little disappointing we had to chase for a fine refund as the parking permit was out of date but another phone call today has rectified this without too much trouble. Have been assured the current permit is now in the welcome pack.

Lovely small cottage in the heart of Dartmouth, situated no more than 100 metres from the harbour and right next to the bustling market aquare at the heart of the town. Lovely open plan kitchen which is well stocked and newly refurbished. Beautifully decorated lounge and big shower room on the first floor and two double bedrooms on the second floor, one of which is large and at the front of the cottage (onto the street, which can get noisy at night) whilst the other is much smaller and at the back. It has to be said that the staircase is narrow and steep and not at all suitable for those with limited mobility. Plus you need to watch your head going up and down. Both myself and my brother-in-law have the battle scars to prove we lifted our heads a split second too early. All in all, a very well presented cottage which is in a great location for a stay in beautiful Dartmouth. Despite the minor issues mentioned above, I would strongly recommend.

Captain's Cottage in the heart of Dartmouth was perfect for us. The house was pristine, freshly decorated and perfectly situated for exploring the town and beyond. Parking nearby was easy given the time of year and the information pack provided was useful for planning excursions, as was the Tourist Office handily right by the carpark. The steepness of stairs may not suit some but this wasn't an issue for us. My only suggested improvement would be to turn the heating up for guests' arrival in winter / spring. Set to 9 degrees on a wet March day, it took the whole evening to reach a comfortable level. I was also surprised that no milk was left, particularly given there were fresh flowers although these were a nice touch. Overall, I'd highly recommend the accommodation and would certainly book again through Dart Valley Cottages.

A really lovely house - amazing, well-stocked kitchen, lovely bathroom (with a great shower!) and cosy sitting room. It got very cold when we stayed, and also the "king-size" bed is actually two singles, with quite an uncomfortable ridge down the middle where they've been put together, but otherwise a really lovely house!

Beautiful cottage right in the heart of Dartmouth town centre, close to everything and easily accessible. We had a fantastic few days stay, the cottage was very clean and we really felt comfortable and at home. We had to contact Dart Valley Cottages a couple of times during our stay and they were really helpful and attentive. I can't rate this cottage and it's location highly enough. We will most definitely return to this cottage in the future, such a beautiful property in one of the most beautiful parts of England.

- For a full refund of the nightly rate, the guest must cancel within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 full days prior to listing’s local check-in time (shown in the confirmation email).
- For a 50% refund of the nightly rate, the guest must cancel 7 full days before the listing's local check-in time (shown in the confirmation email), otherwise no refund will be given. If only 50% of the reservation has been paid, no refund will be issued and the remaining 50% will simply not be charged.
- If the guest cancels less than 7 days in advance or decides to leave early after check-in, the nights not spent are not refunded.
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the reservation is cancelled before check-in.
- Accommodation fees (the total nightly rate you’re charged) are refundable in certain circumstances as outlined below.
- A reservation is officially cancelled when the guest clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Dashboard > Your Trips > Change or Cancel.
