The Garden Cottage is a holiday home for all seasons, blending fresh décor with homely comforts. Just a stone’s throw from the centre of Dartmouth and the waterside, its elevated position gives splendid views over the town and river from the master bedroom and the well-tended garden - a perfect spot for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Inside, feature stone walls and solid wood floors envelop you in maritime cottage charm. Plus, there’s a log burner for the chillier months. Dogs are welcome, too.
The space
The cottage is accessed via the stable door from the road this opens into the ground floor hallway with plenty of space for coats and boots, the exposed stonework gives a lovely cottagey feel to arrive to. Off the entrance hall there is the large newly refurbished family bathroom complete with bath, separate shower, toilet and wash basin. There is also a small single bedroom on the ground floor, guests will find the washing machine in the cupboard under the stairs.
Upstairs to the first floor where guests will find the lounge diner, kitchen and access to the garden. The lounge diner is a light and airy room with dual aspect windows and great views over the garden. The lounge area has a Smart TV and sound bar, two sofas and woodburner. There is a dining table and chairs set into the window at the back of the room.

The kitchen is at the front of the cottage is well-equipped with wooden units and worktops, fridge, electric oven with gas hob and a microwave. From the hallway is the door to the garden and a recess which houses a small freezer and plenty of space for coat hanging and boots.
On the second-floor guests will find the two double bedrooms; the master bedroom is larger and has dual aspect windows giving fantastic views of the river and garden. There is a built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table along with bedroom seats to make the most of the view.
The second bedroom is situated at the front of the cottage had a double bed and built in wardrobe. There is an additional cloakroom upstairs with a toilet and out on the landing there is large stone basin set on an oak vanity unit.

Outside:
The garden at the rear of the property overlooks the town and river and is a delightful suntrap with mature flower beds, seating areas and lawns as well as a decked area at the top with dining table and chairs. Though dogs are welcome at the The Garden Cottage the garden isn’t 100% dog proof but there are fields and woodlands just up the road where dogs can have a good run.

Parking:
A parking space has been created at the front of the cottage by the owners. By mounting the small pavement they have created and pulling in tight to the building there is parking for a small/medium car. From the Garden Cottage up, parking is unrestricted however this does become busy during peak weeks of the season.

Crowthers Hill itself is steep as is the walk up to the parking at Jawbones Hill and the walk from the town centre, so the cottage may not be ideal for those with mobility problems.

Availability:
In the peak season, May, June, July and August we need to keep to Saturday changeovers and a minimum stay of 7 nights. However, please do contact me with any requests you may have and we will accommodate if possible.
Out of peak season we don't need to keep to a Friday changeover.

The Garden Cottage is a place one enjoys to stay not only on the sunny days. Parking can become a topic especially during the Dartmouth Regatta week but that was the only issue we had. Beautiful renovated small cottage, nice garden and a short walk into the splendid and nice city centre. Walking back from the city centre requires a certain base fitness due to the build of the city but Dartmouth is really a good place to be for a relaxing holiday. The communication to the hosting team was always friendly and with fast reaction times so that we really loved to stay there.

Immaculate cottage with a big lovely garden and outdoor dining areas. Well equipt for all your needs snd a great location. The Shambles bar down the hill is very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pop up gin bar too at the far side of town plus the cafe (dogs welcome everywhere) with the park area for dog’s to run about and a playground for children next to it - the anchor stone cafe. Boat trip or lively walk (2.5 hours) to Dittysham - fabulous meal at the sister restaurant /anchor stone cafe there - friendly and great food plus dog friendly. Drove to Salcombe (40 mins) park n drive option and easy walk in. Lovely beach to get ferry to (£2 pp each way). Awesome place. Dined at The Ferry inn - dog friendly - lovely spot with amazing views over the estuary (the best yet) and dog friendly. Had a lovely time thank you .

Fantastic place with a lot of personal touches that made it feel like home. Beautiful garden and stunning views. We got used to the climb up the hill from the centre of the town and without it, there wouldn’t be the views. Thank you!

  • For a full refund of the nightly rate, the guest must cancel within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 full days prior to listing’s local check-in time (shown in the confirmation email).
  • For a 50% refund of the nightly rate, the guest must cancel 7 full days before the listing's local check-in time (shown in the confirmation email), otherwise no refund will be given. If only 50% of the reservation has been paid, no refund will be issued and the remaining 50% will simply not be charged.
  • If the guest cancels less than 7 days in advance or decides to leave early after check-in, the nights not spent are not refunded.
  • Cleaning fees are always refunded if the reservation is cancelled before check-in.
  • Accommodation fees (the total nightly rate you’re charged) are refundable in certain circumstances as outlined below.
  • A reservation is officially cancelled when the guest clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Dashboard > Your Trips > Change or Cancel.
