The space
SUMMARY:LIVING ROOM
Dartside’s solid wood floors and signature blues pay tribute to the area’s nautical heritage, while the almost almond pinks of the walls give the softness of a cosy cottage. Adjacent is the anteroom with wall-filling patio doors which open onto a furnished terrace and magnificent water views through the historic cottages to the jetty and waters beyond.
ENTERTAINMENT
There is a smart TV in the living room from which you can watch streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, or premium services such as Netflix or Disney (registration and subscriptions required).
KITCHEN
The double-height kitchen with Velux ceiling windows elevates and brightens the space. The Shaker-style cupboards house top-quality appliances, including an Aga oven and hob, eye-level oven and grill, American-style fridge freezer, and Miele dishwasher – all making mealtimes a luxurious pleasure.
BEDROOMS
Pure, rural luxury defines the two bedrooms, nestled into the exposed beams of the eaves on the first floor. The master king-size bedroom features a standalone rolltop bath. The second bedroom features two comfortable single beds.
BATHROOM
Between the bedrooms is a pristine wet room, with a basin and heated towel rail, all framed in large, rustic earthy tiles.
GARDENS
Both gardens maximise the truly wonderful views from Dartside. The furnished decking to the front looks through ancient cottages down to the harbour. Or you can retreat into the adjacent anteroom with its antique sleigh daybed and wall-filling patio doors.
The panorama view from the rear garden is just breathtaking. Watch the boats bob on the twinkling waters from the large terrace with plenty of seating. At the top of the sloping lawn, the Summer House lets you enjoy the view any time of year. Plus, you can rinse off a day in the sun in the outside shower room, including a WC.
PARKING
There is off-road space for one car in front of the property. There are car parks nearby for other vehicles.
PETS
Pets are not permitted at Dartside.
Guest access
Dittisham truly is a Devon treasure. Nestled a few miles upstream from Dartmouth, this unspoiled and tranquil village is perfect for a relaxing riverside break and really makes the most of its waterside location. Watersports, fishing, sailing, paddle boarding and leisurely river rides are on your doorstep. Or why not hire a boat and explore the valley at your own pace?On land, the shoreline meadow makes for a perfect picnic spot. Downstream by the jetty is The Ferry Boat Inn – drink and dine while enjoying picture-perfect views across the river valley beyond. It’s also where you can hire a canoe or kayak and paddle the river’s shallower waters.
Dittisham is also superbly connected by river to the Dart Valley’s must-see villages, towns, and attractions. Year-round frequent ferries take you to the historic port of Dartmouth, picturesque Kingswear and the eclectic charms of Totnes. And, just across the river on the opposite bank, a quick boat trip takes you to Agatha Christie’s resplendent Greenway holiday home and gardens, now cared for by the National Trust, and an idyllic day out.

We spent a great 4 days at the cottage. Dittisham is a cute, small and quiet place only a few steps from the local ferry. The cottage is clean and nicely decorated with a homey feel. Our kids also loved the place and our 13 year old daughter is already making plans to live in Dittisham/ Dartmouth when she grows up;-) There is lots to do in the area. We drove to Salcombe to go paddleboarding, Torquay to see dolphins on a speedboat, Dartmouth for sightseeing and cafes and visited an otterfarm. Christina

We absolutely loved our stay at Dart Cottage. The best location. Fabulous garden. The house is furnished beautifully, it is like stepping into a Farrow & Ball advert. Our weather was mixed but we will return to enjoy the garden and its fabulous views. The sunroom at the front was my favourite room in the house. You can enjoy a view of the river even while raining. The kids loved crabbing down on the pontoon and we could enjoy a drink from the pub at the same time. All very friendly as we had a great meal in the pub. Met the cleaning team on the way out who were wonderful and keep everything immaculate. We will be back. Thank you!
