We have stayed in this apartment several times over 20 years and it is a long term favourite of our family. It is full of charm and wonder - basically having a huge entrance hall directly in the cliff wall - which is very useful, if like us, you want to store a paddle board, as there is plenty of space to do so and it is directly opposite the sea, almost on the same level. The apartment is old-world in terms of today's tastes and styles but this only makes it more charming. You don't need air-con with the beautiful shuttered windows directly on to the sea and the supplied fans in circulation. From the bespoke round bed, to the curved, moveable, partition wall - to the curious and creative mezzanine designed to invoke the captain's quarters at the stern of a wooden frigate, this apartment will continue to provide stories and memories for many years to come for those who appreciate its convenience and charm.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villefranche and loved the location of Lucienne’s apartment. It was ideal for quick trips to the beach, and having a small supermarket nearby was really convenient. The windows and the spacious layout of the apartment were definite highlights and gave the place a nice airy feel. That said, the apartment felt a bit under-equipped for a group of six. There was no bedspread for the downstairs sofa bed, and we had to search around for enough towels and pillows for everyone. It also wasn’t as clean as we would have liked- it felt sandy and a bit run-down in places. Fortunately, we spent most of our time out and about, so it didn’t impact us too much during our short stay. Overall, the location was excellent and the stay was great value. Just a few improvements needed for this air bnb to be a great option for groups.

The location of the apartment was amazing, a lovely see view and ville-Franche is a beautiful place, and the hosts communication was great. However, the apartment is in need of updating. The kitchen was very old, the dishwasher failed to clean, the mattresses and mattress protectors were stained, one of the sofa beds was extremely uncomfortable, the two bunks were at an angle so were unusable, and one of the plug sockets was hanging out of the wall. It was such a shame as these are issues that could easily have been resolved.

We loved Lucienne's place. Amazing location and very spacious. Lucienne was accomodating when we requested to add more guests and always friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

One of the most interesting entrances and interior configuration I’ve ever stayed in. Great location on the bay. Beautiful view right outside the windows onto the Mediterranean. Incroyable!!!!

The apartment is charming, and after staying there a week I’m still flabbergasted by the amazing view directly onto the water. It is a short, beautiful stroll to the train station. The shower is spacious even by American standards. We loved the private ‘grotto’ area. This was a truly unique experience that we will cherish. Merci beaucoup!

Villefrenche-sur-Mer, especially with it’s quick and easy train access and proximity to other larger cities like Nice, Cannes, and Monte Carlo, has great appeal. And when we learned to take a 5 minute train ride to Beaulieu for a great grocery story, we were content and very happy with its beautiful, small town feel. Lucienne’ s apartment is pleasantly unusual, being on a main and mezzanine. Stairs are a constant, both out and inside the apartment. It is perfectly situated along the quay, very close to restaurants and beaches, with a 6 minute walk to the train station. Though that short walk would be problematic transporting heavy luggage. I loved looking out and the bay, and listening to the waves through the open windows in the night. We didn’t love the music played by the restaurant right below. With it’s speakers directly below our windows, it had a major influence on our time spent at home during the day and early evening. When we had a couple of small issues needing attention, Lucienne was very prompt in replying and getting a person in to address them. And Sandrine, with Riviera, was very pleasant and helpful, facilitating our departure.

This is a unique place directly on the harbor with a beautiful view. It is a short walk to the beach, multiple restaurants, and the train station. We found the staff of the restaurant L'Terrace below the apartment very helpful and friendly. The staff of Riviera Holiday homes were also very helpful and always responded very quickly.

I was just want thank Lucienne for being so accomodating. I wasn’t able to make my trip to the Riviera from Australia for reasons outside of my control and the booking was non refundable. Lucienne has agreed to leave me credit on the property to be used at a later date . I can’t thank Lucienne enough and I look forward to staying there next year .

I stayed at this apartment in 2013 and again in 2017 and I would stay here again, definitely. It's got so much character; the entrance hall is a cave and the upstairs is a mezzanine that looks like the back of an old wooden frigate. There's a circular huge bed in the main bedroom. It has many positives, especially it's location and its view. What is not so good about it is that it needs a bit of work and a bit of renewal here and there; some of the electrical sockets are actually loose and hanging out of the walls, same with the light fittings in the kitchen - and overall, the apartment appliances are all a bit old but that doesn't spoil anything and there is a certain charm and character to the apartment, the positives outweigh the negatives. When I stayed four years ago, the washing machine door handle broke and I removed the door myself and fixed it. The same thing happened this time but I called the handy man and he didn't try to fix it but reported it broken and I got sent a bill for 150€. I questioned this and the letting agency (this is riviera holiday homes) said they would claim off insurance, but I knew how to fix it and it took me just ten minutes and saved me 150€ - or them an insurance claim, so if you stay, be careful with the washing machine handle, but also know it is easy to fix if the handle comes apart, Just remove the door and unscrew it and reassemble the handle. Downstairs the bar is owned by Richard and his wife and daughter, they are very nice people and the food is good. Also downstairs is the parking office and there you can by a weekly parking ticket for anywhere in Villefranche (except for the pay and display car parks) which costs only 25€ a week, which is less than you can spend in one day in the pay and display, so a good idea if you have a car. There's lots to see and do around Villefranche and the region, whatever your interests.

not family friendly, rules of how it should be left not realistic, state of amenties and furniture and plates very old. pictures didn't show reality, price way too high for what it gives

I will mention only the positives. The apartment is very spacious. It has a delightful view over Villefranche bay. Best of all, it is VERY close to the sea--literally 30 seconds! Every day we would trot across the road and dive off the rocks into the Med. The beach itself is a couple of minutes' walk, and restaurants are also only a couple of minutes away.

We booked the apartment the day before arrival and got a quick and good response from Helena. It was also arranged with nice and helpful transportation from to the apartment. Villefranche was also a very good place to spend a week and the apartment was in a perfect location for the beach, restaurants and shop. The apartment was spacious with several bathrooms and all necessary amenities but mature for renewal. What we didn't like very much was the smell in parts of the apartment (basement smell/ mold), but with good airing it went smoothly.
