Take a glimpse back in time at Mount Edgecumbe House on historic Pointe Rapide Estate in the West Tamar Valley wine region. Set on 37 acres of lush land with botanical gardens and a new vineyard, it offers an idyllic setting to completely unwind. Overlooking the Tamar River, thisc1835 home has historic significance, being one of the earliest homesteads to be built in Tasmania. Inaccessible until recently, it has been fully refurbished in the finest luxury and is, for the first time, open to the public to enjoy.

Offering complete serenity, the home comprises three individually styled, luxury ensuite bedrooms all dressed in organic bamboo sheets and bespoke wallpapers. The modern kitchen and laundry come equipped with the latest European appliances. Nestle in by the cosy wood fireplaces and take in the spectacular views or indulge in a long luxurious soaking the clawfoot bath looking out at the views.

Breathe in the fresh air as you meander about the spectacular garden with walking tracks to the water's edge. Historic relics, the dam, an abundance of flora and fauna and the wraparound vineyard are yours to discover.
Meander along the water's edge and watch the local sea eagles soar and the seal's play. Spend your days walking or cycling to the nearby vineyards. Mount Edgecumbe House is located just a 45-minute drive from Launceston. A car is recommended for getting around here and there is an abundance of parking space on the property.

Our guests are awe-inspired by the property 360-degree views, sunrise over the river, sunset over the vineyard, wildlife galore, historic 1835 beautifully restored homestead, convict brick, unique history, botanical gardens, no traffic, no pollution, no noise! We stayed for a wedding and had young children with us, so having beds for everyone including a cot for our baby was very important to get a good night sleep. I checked in advance that they would provide a cot so I didn’t bring my own and they confirmed. When we arrived and we couldn’t find the cot, I contacted L’Abode Accommodation to get their help finding it. They kept insisting they would find a solution, despite I being clear that the cot wasn’t in the property. Come 10pm, they just stopped contacting us. The accommodation is great but the lack of service or care from the L’Bode Accommodation almost ruined the trip and our ability to enjoy the wedding. I will avoid any accommodation run by this company in the future. I’ve stayed in many airbnbs and never experienced anything like this. Real shame.

Pointe Rapide Estate is an amazing house in a stunning location. After speaking to Dale (one of the owners) we learnt it has a facinating and intriguing history. It is set on a large property so you will definitely need a car. The house is large and full of treasures and best of all it had a beautiful wood fire that was so nostalgic to sit in front of on those cold Tassie winter nights while we enjoyed all the delicious Tasmanian fare and wine we had gathered in the day. It was so quiet and peaceful and a wonderful place to unwind. Keep in mind to get to it is through farming and wine country so not many street lights, and you need to be extremely mindful of all the wildlife running across the roads from dawn to dusk. They were especially abundant on the property so drive slow in the winter months when it is dark by 5pm. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location to explore Tamar wine region and the perfect sized home for our group (3 couples). The beautiful views of the Tamar river were a bonus.

This was a sensational house probably suited for up to eight people max. Three great bedrooms . two with ensuite. And one of the living rooms has a good double sofa bed. Brillant view and gardens and very close to holm oak winery (800m drive) Great kitchen and fridge was stocked with some goodies. would definitely come back again !!!

Stay was good,but it was much animals poor,that should be cleaned,otherwise you can’t walk around,some windows couldn’t be opened.

If keys are not left in the requested spot, a $150 fee will be charged. 3. A starter pack of amenities and toilet paper (once these are used up, the guest will need to purchase more), and the exit clean. Should you require a mid-stay clean or additional linen, there will be an additional charge. Please message us through Airbnb for a quote. 4. Please be mindful of your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum between 9pm - 8:00am. We have a strict no event/party policy to ensure we have an ongoing positive relationship with our neighbours. 5. Please confirm the accurate number of guests on your booking. If you intend to have extra guests stay or come to the property at any point during your stay, please send a message via Airbnb for our team to approve. 6. Maintenance Issues: We do our best to attend to all maintenance issues as and when we are notified during typical work hours. However, please note if you contact us over the weekend from Friday 4pm - Monday 10am we will not be able to organise a call out. We will still be contactable over this period for emergencies only. 7. Barbecue Cleaning (If Applicable): As per the terms and conditions, please ensure you clean the BBQ after use. A $70 charge will be deducted from your bond if the BBQ is found to be dirty. Thank you for understanding. 8. Late Check-outs: Please note that L'Abode Accommodation reserves the right to impose a late departure fee of $80 per hour for any guest who fails to vacate the premises by 10:00 AM without prior approval. Public Holidays Outside work hours (after 4:00 pm - before 9 am Monday-Friday) We will do our best to respond to all request of repairs within 24 hours and organise a tradesperson within work hours. We can't compensate any guests who request repairs/callouts during the above timeframes as it is very difficult to source tradespeople during the above-mentioned hours.

Property Manager Terms

  • For a full refund, the guest must cancel at least 5 full days before the listing’s local check-in time (shown in the confirmation email).
  • If the guest arrives and decides to leave early, 50% of the nightly rate for the nights not spent 24 hours after the cancellation occurs are refunded.
  • Cleaning fees are always refunded if the reservation is cancelled before check-in.
  • Accommodation fees (the total nightly rate you’re charged) are refundable in certain circumstances as outlined below.
  • A reservation is officially cancelled when the guest clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Dashboard > Your Trips > Change or Cancel.
