The space

There is currently construction taking place next to this property. Most of the heavy construction has been done. They do share a driveway with the Surf Shack. They are very considerate to guests. The completion date is November 2024.

The accommodation at our Kommetjie surf shack is thoughtfully designed to cater to both privacy and extended family living, making it an ideal home for families and groups of friends alike. The layout features a master bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom. What sets this room apart are the breathtaking ocean views that greet you each morning, offering a serene start to the day.

Down the other end of the house, the second bedroom serves as a peaceful retreat with its spacious king-sized bed, promising restful nights after long days of adventure and surf. This bedroom's placement ensures privacy and quiet, away from the communal areas of the home.

The third bedroom is designed with younger guests in mind, equipped with two single beds and a fun bunk bed, making it a perfect room for kids to share and enjoy. It's a space where laughter and play can fill the air, away from the adult conversations. The fourth bedroom, while compact, is welcoming, offering a bunk bed and a small en-suite bathroom, ideal for additional guests or teenagers seeking their own space.

A full bathroom, complete with both a bath and shower, plus a separate toilet, is strategically shared between the second and third bedrooms, ensuring convenience and accessibility for all guests.

The heart of the home is undeniably the open-plan living room, dining area, and kitchen which opens up to the out door area and views! This hub is where everyone naturally gathers to share meals, play games, and recount the day's adventures. The kitchen, fully equipped with modern amenities, makes meal preparation not just easy but enjoyable, allowing for memorable holiday feasts and quick snacks alike.

Stepping through the doors, you'll find yourself on a patio that leads to a lush vegetation area, showcasing the natural beauty of Kommetjie. Beyond this green belt lies the rocks and the ocean's edge - so close you can touch it. This proximity to the sea is a constant reminder of the unique location of this surf shack.

A braai (BBQ) area offers the perfect setting for quintessential South African cookouts. The home is also equipped with a potjie pot for those keen to get really South African! For cooler evenings, the cozy indoor fireplace becomes the gathering point, adding warmth and ambiance to the living space.

For water sport enthusiasts, the inclusion of a garage for safe storage is a thoughtful touch, ensuring that your gear is always ready for the next day's waves.

This Kommetjie surf shack combines the comfort of home with the adventure of the sea, creating a space where every holiday becomes a memorable experience.

There is a house being constructed on the right side of the property. Most of the actual construction has been completed. The driveway is shared with construction vehicles at this point but they are very accommodating and mindful of guests! The construction is due to end November 2024.

Other things to note

There is a house being built next-door and you share a driveway. Most of the heavy construction work has been done and they are now busy with aesthetics. The rate for the house has already been discounted because of the possible inconvenience. No further discounts will be considered / offered as we are being transparent about it. PLEASE KNOW that they are very considerate and you should not experience issues. Completion date estimated for November.

Public space: the rocks in front of the property on the ocean edge is public land so expect some passer by's. There is also a walk thoroughfare on the left side of the house through the tree's often used by surfers.

Pets: although the property is pet friendly, the back garden is not secured. Pet's will be able to run onto the rocks so it's important that accompanying pets are well trained in recall. Please bring own pet beds - MAX 2 small - medium dogs. NO pets allowed on the furniture and NO wet pets allowed inside the house. Please do not use out bath or beach towel to dry the animals. Please bring a towel for your dog. Pets must be on a lead when you leave the property. Please do not leave pets unattended on the property.

Petty theft is a reality around the world and it's not much different in South Africa. Please do not leave any valuables in the car or outside the property when you are not around. Do not leave things outside on the veranda overnight. Please do not leave valuable items or alcohol on display in the lounge/dining area. Please keep doors closed and locked when you are not in the vicinity. PLEASE activate the alarm every time you leave the house! Insurance will not cover any loss or damage if the alarm was not set and you will be held liable.

Sandhoppers: At certain times of the year, usually in late winter and spring, all the properties along the beach front in Kommetjie are frequented by sand hoppers. They are little creatures that feed on the seaweed washed up on the beach, keeping the beach clean. As such, they are an important part of the ecology. They are completely harmless, but they are a real nuisance as they come up from the beach in their thousands, particularly at night. They are attracted to the light, so we would suggest switching off all outside lights in the front of the house when you retire for the night. Should it get out of hand, please communicate with Laurette. The sandhoppers HATE vinegar so we will come and spray the perimeter and all the doorways with vinegar. It’s better to deter than to kill. This has proven to be very successful in the past.
