A dream villa, with a beautifully old-fashioned charm. All the details tell a story: enchantment even in the bathroom with a view and blue mosaics. Giacomo was responsive in every way and welcomed us warmly. The view from the entire villa is splendid. Access to the funicular in 3 minutes' walk is very convenient to enjoy Como - until midnight, including in winter. It is better to avoid a car other than a compact one to reach Brunate... just to fully enjoy the serenity offered by the place.

We had a lovely week. Giovanni was very helpful with check in and with helpful recommendations for the area. The views from the property are stunning and worth the price of entry alone. The property has such a lovely character and the history is palpable. A lovely, lovely stay.

Our visit was wonderful! A dream come true in a "Fairy Tale" setting. Our host Giovanni greeted us with a grand tour and give us background and such interesting history of the over 100 year old villa, though the villa has all the modern amenities. And, Giovanni was very flexible with our late arrival The view is spectacular from a stunning terrace, and sitting on their comfy couch and chairs. The bedrooms all with balconies of their own with that same Lago di Como view. So much room for all 5 of us. Spacious kitchen with everything I needed to cook our own meals, but several nice restaurants near by as well. A very nice laundry room with washer and really nice ironing set up. I wish we could have stayed longer, it was truly an incredible visit. I know my family made some unbelievable memories that will be cherished all our lives. Thank you Giovanni for helping make our stay a real dream come true. Priceless memories and we'll worth it!

Exactly as described. A fairytale dream! The view is fantastic. The accommodation is equipped with many loving details. The location is quiet yet very central. You can reach Como on foot, including the train ride, within 15 minutes. We were received very kindly and with many useful tips for our stay. Communication was fast, personal and uncomplicated. We will be happy to come back!

This property is pure magic - one of the most special Airbnb stays we’ve ever had. The views and atmosphere made it unforgettable. The location feels wonderfully off the beaten path, which we loved. And with the funicular less than 5 minutes walk away you have easy access to Como. Best of both worlds. Just note the narrow, windy road up to Brunate - wouldn’t recommend a big car unless you’re a confident driver. Absolutely worth it.

This place is incredible. We spent 5 nights but could have spent 5 weeks. The house is so authentic to the period and the grounds were fantastic to explore. The view was incomparable, we ended up spending more time at the villa than we had planned because the patio and views were unbeatable. If you were travelling with elderly ones or ones with mobility problems the narrow streets (the drive is exhilarating) and elevation changes could prove challenging. For us (2 middles aged couples) it was no problem at all. The funicular was very practical and so close to the villa. 100% recommend. The only suggestion we would have for improvement is some WiFi repeaters throughout the villa as the WiFi signal was weak in many areas.

‘Fairy Tale - I Tigli’ truly lived up to its name and exceeded our already high expectations. Breathtaking views, Gatsby-era charm, and a meticulous curation to detail that made our stay an experience. The space was clean and organized upon arriving, and Leonardo made our check-in easy and concise (in addition to sharing helpful local tips, like restaurants and grocers in town). Check-out instructions were also clearly communicated. I recommend this listing to anybody looking to ‘elevate’ their stay in the Como area. Access to the funicular was an easy walk away and readily available, the town itself exemplified the ‘Fairy Tale’ setting, and the property was a comfortable fit for our party of six. Ciao!

Just a fantastic villa. Great view, quiet, you can easily and quickly get to Como by funicular (6 minutes). Giovanni was very friendly. I read the reviews before I arrived and here's what I can say: 1. I was very worried about how I would get there, because they wrote about the difficulty of getting to the accommodation, a narrow road. I drove home absolutely calmly and drove into the parking lot. There were no difficulties, although I have a fairly large car. 2. They wrote about cleanliness. I wiped all the surfaces with napkins, and the napkins remained completely clean. Yes, the furniture may not look new (this is the charm of this villa), but it is absolutely clean and well-maintained! Snow-white bed linen, fluffy snow-white towels. Incredible territory, beautiful, green, well-groomed. My best recommendations! Giovanni, thank you!

This was our second stay at this beautiful villa in Como, and it was just as magical as the first. The views are absolutely stunning, and the house itself is a true heritage gem — full of character and charm, yet comfortable and welcoming. The hosts are wonderfully kind and communicative, making the entire experience smooth and pleasant. A rare find that feels special and out of the ordinary. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique stay in Como.

We had the most wonderful few days here. The views were spectacular, and we loved sitting on the terrace watching the sun set. The apartment is huge with beautiful period furniture and quirky and fascinating features and art. We felt like we were in a film set, or had slipped back in time. The beds were comfortable and we really enjoyed exploring the streets of Brunate. The hosts were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. We hope to come back soon and spend another memorable and magical break here.

We loved staying here! This historic home was such a special and unique place to stay. Gorgeous views of the lake and mountains from every room. The historic nature of the home was so amazing! We loved that it was so preserved and felt like we were in a movie. The streets are steep but we loved walking them and touring the city, lighthouse, and hikes nearby. Funicular is very close and made it easy to get down to Como. This was such a unique place and we feel lucky to have stayed there. Host was very responsive and helpful as well!

This home is beautiful in its history and old glory. Yet, beautiful homes are a dime a dozen around Lake Como...given that, I would choose a different villa if I am to visit again. What it had was stunning views, old world charm, lush grounds, plenty of space. What it lacked was the refined touches that make Airbnb guests feel welcome. The kitchen has no cooking essentials such as salt, pepper, or oil. There is no directions or information about local markets in the Brunate area. This villa is only two stories, with the third floor being rented separately. This was a surprise to us, and unfortunately the people above us had a dog they left alone and it barked for hours at night. I loved our stay, and we made lifelong memories, but if am visit Como again I will choose different.

Our stay at the villa was short but enchanting and we can’t wait to return to the lush gardens, exquisite architectural details, super comfortable bed, gorgeous bath, and the spectacular view. Host Giovanni was patient and gracious with our arrival in Brunate. We can highly recommend a happy stay in this beautiful villa.

Here's the pros and cons of staying at this villa: PROS: - this is why you choose AirBnB. A very cool, unique house in an incredible location, full of architectural detail and vintage furniture. A chance to see a real, less touristy side of the area! - Views that you could never get staying in Como, and great hiking - Away from all the crowds in Como and cheaper than the cheapest hotel for a full house - easy and fun to take the funicular to Brunate CONS: - This place needs some maintenance and a deep clean. It's not horrible, but the management obviously has not put any extra money into fixing an old house. For example, some crumbling plaster walls, floor tiles coming out, and a faucet handle that came off. - the furniture is exactly what was in the house 60+ years ago. Which is all cool and vintage, but don't expect a comfortable couch or bed. I dont even think they bought new pillows or blankets, sheets were fine. For this price I expected a higher end place.

What a truly incredible experience! Giovanni our host was so helpful and responsive throughout the process. The property itself is a dream - so beautifully authentic and full of character. We were a bit worried about access as we didn’t have a car but the funicular is within easy walking distance of the property. The funicular does get quite crowded however so would definitely recommend taking taxis if travelling with big bags instead of the funicular. Definitely worth it for the views though. Thank you so much - we hope to be back one day!

Views are spectacular. Walking distance to good restaurants and small store/ great butcher. Ride funicular to Como. Way easier than driving. Stock basics before ascending to Brunate. House could use a few upgrades. Like decent coffee cups. The master bath takes all night to drain. But overall it is a unique place and fantastic experience. Host rep. was very helpful and spoke passable English .

Just a perfect setting with an amazing view, very quiet and easy to find! The location was fantastic- and easy from train to the Funicolare and to the house. Giovonni met us there and gave us a tour- provided recommendation and was very helpful. Only thing missing was the good weather on our short stay but I would definitely revoked this place to friends and family!

We had the best time at this villa. It was made the trip to Italy truly unique. We felt like we were transported back in time and it was enchanting. Giovanni was also exceptional with check in and ensured a seamless process. He was excellent in all his instruction and shared history of our villa with us. It was incredible.

We were welcomed by Giovanni who provided us quick reaction to all questions. We enjoyed the stay, the view and the cleanliness of the house. However, we would have loved to know that there might be neighbours upstairs. One night it was very loud after midnight and we heard every step and voice (even it was for a short time). Also, the house is quite old, a pity that the sommer „house“ was not as clean as the rest, since that space was the one we were most excited about. So all in all, we enjoyed the beautiful view from the balcony but would say that the price required is too high.

We just spent nearly three weeks in Italy staying at multiple places and of all the places this is the one we were looking forward to the most. While the view is incredible, the funicular up from Como is very efficient and the way to go (if staying for multiple days - get the 7-day pass even if not there a full 7 days as it will be worth it and you don't have to queue up with crowd of day pass riders). In its day I'm sure the place was phenomenal, but it needs a deep cleaning and pressure washing. We were especially looking forward to spending time in the "solarium" shown in the pictures - but the floors were filthy as were the chairs. Such a shame. There were plenty of cooking/kitchen utensils, dishwasher and amenities (including a nice CD collection) for the stay - it just wasn't the "wow" we were hoping for when we booked it.

Amazing view of Como. The fernicular is 5 minute walk away. It will take you down to Como in 7 minutes and departs every 15 minutes. Buy a week “resident” ticket at the bottom which saves you a lot of money and gives you priority access. You can get a boat from Como to explore the lake. 3 nice sized rooms all with balconies. One bathroom and one en-suite. Very old property with lots of original features. WiFi is good but not great upstairs.

The view is so pretty. It's the best!! And the host was very friendly But the building was so old that it was a little uncomfortable… I think the shower needs a little improvement… The way up to the accommodation is narrow, so check the road that Google tells you again. It was difficult because they guided me to a strange road…

The house is a fantastic example of a XX-century luxury villa. Beautiful design, a lot of history, but what's important, hitting standards of modern requirements of comfort. It unbelievable view, great interiors, nice property, and a great distance to Funicolare, so it's easy to get to the city. Highly recommended.

Absolute HEAVEN!!! We would nice in if we could, it was divine. We were here with family and our dog for Christmas from the states and it was so wonderful. Perfect villa in a stunning location, breathtaking view and right next to the funicular so you can easily get up and down the mountain to visit historic como and get a boat rental. Tons of walking areas and the private backyard path is just the coolest!! Driving up the hill to get there is a bit harrowing but fully paved and just part of driving in Italy and the private parking area is big and easy once you get in. We had a private chef come over to teach a pasta making class, played games (they have a great game table and stereo with excellent Italian music!!), drank coffee and then wine on the terrace with spectacular sunsets. Highly recommend!!!

Giovanni was amazing! He was there to greet us and help us get into this beautiful fairy tale- he was professional- helpful - and an EXCELLENT host! The views were out of this world- breathtaking! The kitchen offered everything you needed! So many places to sit and enjoy family and the views! The road was challenging getting up but so worth it- I would, however, recommend parking down below and coming up and down via the funicular- it was very efficient- The little town offered a little grocery store- the people were wonderful- the restaurants were upscale- - a very very special place to visit and experience! HIGHLY recommend this stunning place in paradise!!!

Beautiful location with a spectacular view of Como and the lake. The house is very large with a huge terrace and an incredibly large park. Giovanni our host was super responsive, extremely helpful and always there for us. Gladly again. If you really want to mention something with only 3 stars, it's the decor and furniture. Let's call it authentic, but still a bit outdated or overloaded. But again, that's not a problem if you like it authentic.

Giovanni was a wonderful host. Incredibly responsive with any question we had and was very helpful. The view was something out of a movie! It was incredible. We would go to the local market and buy food to make breakfast on the balcony every morning. Sooo memorable! The only thing that was a little trying was the drive up. Those roads are NO JOKE. This beautiful old home needs to be experienced and is perfect for people who love to feel the wing of history and have an authentic residential experience. The surroundings are wonderful - nature, flora and fauna, hiking and the whole experience of living in an old Italian mountain village and waking up overlooking Lake Como as soon as you open your eyes. As an added plus, you will land in Como city below the mountain in just 7 minutes using the local cinnamon track, Funicolaren, which is a surprisingly pleasant experience even for people with fear of heights. We'll get back to you soon.

This beautiful apartment exceeded our expectations. I booked this for my boyfriends birthday & from the moment we opened the door it was like we stepped back in time. He loves art nouveau & the bespoke furniture & mirrors throughout the apartment were stunning. It was so spacious with high ceilings & beautiful large windows & doors. The huge balcony was lovely to sit out & eat or just relax on. The view was breathtaking & the retractable awning was welcome for a bit of shade. It was a short walk from the top of the funicular which was €3.50 one way. There had been a mix up with the keys (we had been given the wrong keys for the top floor apartment) but this was rectified fairly quickly. We would love to come back & stay again.

Spectacular view! The surrounding area is amazing for walks and hikes. So close to funicular to Como. The apartment is like stepping back a century but with functionality. As pictured except for summer kitchen which was not in the condition of pictures. Not a destination for work from home as WiFi is very weak. Overall a great place to spend your vacation.

This listing is exactly what it tries to be: a well preserved, spacious, old house with modernised amenities and a brilliant view. There were some challenges, but they are understanable consequences of the nature/location of the house (e.g., going up to/down from Brunate was the most challenging drive we had in Italy). Not all amenties worked well, but I choose to give the propety managers the benefit of the doubt and to assume they'll get everything worked out for future gusets. TBH, I'm not sure this place was right for me (for example: the place was remarkably well cleaned, but I associate "old" with "dirty"). I do, however, beleive that if you know what to expect - this is a wonderful place to stay in around Como.
