Lovely stay. Clean home with everything you need. A small shop opposite the driveway which is useful for essentials you might need. The driveway is tight as some other reviews mention, but was perfectly fine for both our cars with ample parking space. Spacious bedrooms allowed us room for our travel cot.

Lovely cottage in a handy location next to a mainline station between Newcastle and Carlisle with walks from the cottage door! The rooms were very well designed with plenty of space for 3-4 people to relax.
Good sized supermarket in Prudhoe for provisions making it easy to top up.
The White Swan PH, (almost next door) was absolutely delightful and well recommended by us for drinks and food!
Their service was outstanding. We loved very much our stay in Ovington.
TV was not easy to operate, possibly the batteries were low but it could have certainly benefitted from some basic instructions.
Would have been useful to have a few more dishwasher tablets as only 1 was provided.
Please provide instructions for the recycling - we were unclear and followed the lead of neighbours.

This is a lovely cottage, in a great location - very close to the beautiful Tyne river, a few minutes walk from a railway station, a few yards from a good general store and a friendly pub with good food. We found it clean and welcoming.

The house is as described - the location is great, good garden for our dog, comfy beds.
Finding the parking entrance is tricky - I suggest parking by the church and walking to work out which lane you drive into - it's almost opposite the shop, between 2 stone walls and very narrow.
The property is run by a large rental company Host and Stay. This is fine if you want a rental that has no frills and little personality. I was on my guard when I was asked to pay for insurance upfront and also charged £60 for cleaning for 2 people for 2 nights. The response by their employees is quick but they obviously don't really know the individual properties very well. Kitchen supplies are limited - a few sachets of milk etc. Lots of little things missing that make a place special. All info was supplied online except the wifi password that you can find framed by the TV.
It was fine for what we needed but I'll avoid places run by large companies in the future.

A lovely cosy cottage, but it would have helped our arrival if we'd known that access is through a narrow gateway on Main Road, not where satnav took us to. Lovely comfy beds, kitchen has plenty of equipment. There were a few niggles but Host and Stay were very quick and helpful in solving them. Don't miss the White Swan, two minutes walk away, the food was excellent. The church across the road is interesting, too, and Prudhoe is just across the river, with a Co-op supermarket.

I saw other reviews about the tight parking and they weren’t wrong, two new tyres and some body work later…
Other than that, the place was great for what we needed.

Great cottage, just the right size for us. Plenty of areas to walk the dog. Riverside cafe over the bridge towards Prudhoe is dog friendly and lovely food, generous size potions. The pub 2 minutes walk from the cottage ( swan inn) has amazing food and also do takeaway:)
We had a great time. Would definitely stay again.

Good location. Village had a shop across the road and a pub 200 yds away. Good communication from agency, liked the online information that was sent beforehand.
Smaller than was expecting, particularly the kitchen. Could have been more equipped also. Yes it's for 4 people, but only having 4 of most things means constantly washing up. Not enough room to get around dining table also.

A lovely cottage in a picturesque village. Kitchen had everything we needed. Living room cosy, bedrooms neat and beds comfortable.
Parking was a little difficult with two cars, the lane to get to the parking for the property is quite tight.

The cottage was lovely, clean and well decorated, everything you would need in the kitchen, location was good , plenty of outside space rear garden is a sun trap.
The entrance to the parking is a little challenging from the main road. The gardens were in need of some attention, weeding and tidying up as it’s nearly June . No plugs in the kitchen and bathroom sinks, it would have been helpful to be able to wash up a few pots without having to use the dishwasher. The amount of text from Home Stay becomes intrusive and not necessary.

It was clean and had everything required .
It wasn’t the property we didn’t like but the number of messages received from point of booking to leaving was far too many . Also to be told on 31st march we need to pay a £25 insurance fee ( non refundable) otherwise the booking wouldn’t be confirmed was a shock . I’m addition the instructions regards recycling was a bit much …..

We had the most beautiful stay, the cottage was even more beautiful in reality. The don’t show how warm, cosy and welcoming the place is!
Everything is a walk away, shop across the road, warm welcoming pub just a bit further up the road. That serves great food and atmosphere.
Your outlook from the garden is a beautiful church and in-front of the property is a walk across the bridge to a nature reserve which has a lovely river walk, cafe and toilets.
We will definitely stay again and recommend you stay here too.

Was an ideal spot for us as we had a family funeral at the church and a get together at the White Swan. We had driven up from Norwich and another family member came from Spain. Plenty of room for us to sit with a glass of wine and remember all the things that happened with our dearly departed Mother who lived in the village. It felt very familiar and homely. Thank you

Held off leaving feedback as I wanted to give them a fair chance to deal with my complaint. Now having chased after waiting 2 weeks, I am leaving feedback I hoped I wouldn’t have to.
The cottage was terribly grubby. 2 kitchen cupboards scattered with mouse droppings which I find unacceptable. Dirty kitchen utensils put back on shelves, grubby oven & drawers, old cobwebs and dust in every radiator & fan. A pot outside the door full of old cigarette butts. We had our 2 young children with us and I felt uncomfortable with the lack of hygiene in the cottage. I wouldn’t be happy with this at home and I certainly feel when I am paying to stay somewhere let out by a professional company, I expect much higher standards to be met.
I will say the company were very responsive and provided helpful info in a downloadable PDF. It was hard to locate using the directions provided so a sign at the end of the (very narrow!) drive would have been helpful.

It suited our needs, accommodation for attending a wedding.
It was difficult to find the entrance to car parking as we arrived in the dark, more detailed instructions would have been helpful.
An inside doormat would have made it easier to keep the floor clean too.

Nice compact cottage in a pretty location obtaining everything we needed for a few nights. However it wasn’t very clean! Hair on the walls in the shower, dirty bathroom, stained cushion covers and thick dust under the beds and on the faux plants. Instructions on how to get there/get in very vague and the person we spoke to from the letting company wasn’t very helpful.

Lovely cottage with a sense of history.
Nice location near a pub and local railway station.
A good playground for children just across the bridge.
Good that there was a supply of coffee available.
Would stay there again as it was close to family.

Needs maintenance. Garden and patio overgrown with weeds so didn’t feel as relaxed sitting out . We had to clean down the garden furniture to be able to sit on it as had months of dust and cobwebs on it. Mould in bathroom and in some kitchen cupboards. It is actually quite dark and cold in cottage. We could only watch Netflix as kicked out trying others and froze quite afew times. Getting parked behind cottage in the parking space is very tight, not much room to get into the back especially for big cars and really overgrown weeds in part of spaces. It’s the first time that I’ve stayed in a cottage in the uk and it will be the last time. In my opinion definitely not worth the price of over £600 for 4 nights

Good village location, within easy walking distance of local shop and good pub. Easy access to the A69 for exploring Northumberland. Very comfortable beds.
The 2 keys needed to get into the property were not in the lock box. Took a tiring 30 minutes of phone calls to finally get in.
It would have been nice if the cottage garden had been better kept.

This has to be the best holiday house we've ever stayed in! Quintessentially English. Set in a small friendly village right beside the River Tyne. The Goose Fair Cross is right outside the front of the house and the local church with Saxon tower is just over the wall. This house has EVERYTHING you need for a holiday house. Pretty front garden, quiet, cosy but spacious living room with stove (which we didn't need with the lovely weather we had), exceptionally well appointed kitchen, luxurious bedrooms with the most comfy, large bed and harmonious furnishings and pictures etc. Plenty of parking at the back (just square up for the quite narrow opening), back yard with outside furniture and outside lights. This was ideal for us to meet up safely outside with family who live locally in a more Covid safe way. Everyone in the village is really friendly and there is an amazing walk in native woodland nearby. We didn't have time to try the White Swan next door but did enjoy using the blue tooth speakers to play music on and the English Cottage vibe. A gem of a holiday house.

Location was lovely, easy to find. Bridge was narrow, but our car got through okay. Cottage was nicely decorated, had nice beds and very clean. Keys easy to find and access the cottage. The app was great and answered all our questions. Very nice coffee machine.
No washing up liquid. Took our rubbish home with us as the recycling and waste bins were confusing. No glass allowed in recycling. The blinds in the second bedroom are difficult to lower and raise up. Too many emails from booking.com leading up to the stay. Had to go through them all to find the key code to the door lock.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at the cottage, which is well equipped and cosy. Great base for seeing around the area and it was wonderful to have a walk by the riverside with our dog, which is accessible from the front door from steps leading down to the river. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and would highly recommend eating at Winships in nearby Ovington. The food and staff were amazing.

A cute cottage in lovely riverside setting. Walks nearby, great pub too for Sunday lunch, train station at bottom of the road. We arrived in the dark and although we found it OK please be aware that you have to drive through a very narrow lane off road to park car. The security lighting at cottage was turned off so we couldn't see a thing when trying to open lockbox and then the front door, it was also freezing inside as the heating was turned away down & took a while for the place to heat up. We would have expected it to at least be warm for guests arriving. The shower could also do with an upgrade as bathroom somewhat lets the cottage down, not the most luxurious and there are some signs of dampness in the back bedroom. However we did enjoy our stay and the things mentioned are easily fixed so we would still recommend a stay here!
Andrew

Lovely cosy stone cottage tucked away in a central
spot overlooking the banks of the Tyne. Plenty of good walks available and railway station walkable across nearby pedestrian bridge.
There’s a reasonably equipped kitchen although no
grille on the cooker for our stay. And no washing machine would not be ideal for longer stays. Living room has a great ambiance - well
appointed bedrooms very close to each other across a tiny landing with one small bathroom adjacent with shower over bath.
No downstairs loo.
Set backs aside,
it’s a cottage that has charm, it’s been tastefully restored and furnished.
Tip: make sure you request detailed directions as it’s hard to find - especially in the dark.

Had such a lovely time at Waterleap Cottage. It’s a pretty cottage with a garden and a courtyard. It has a lovely fireplace and really comfy beds and pillows! The place was immaculate when we arrived, the cutlery and crockery in the kitchen looked brand new. Really well kitted out. Beautiful location on a lovely stretch of the River Tyne with stunning scenery and beautiful walks both ways. Near to the train station with easy access to Newcastle. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Forest and Waterpark the beaches and Alnwick Castle all within easy reach. Great pub with lovely food and friendly staff just up the road, local shop and a large co-op in the village. There’s also a great pool in the village with a wave pool and a waterslide and a lovely park 2 mins walk away. Had a great stay, thank you - fully recommend!! Great communication with the agent, very helpful information.
