The location is very quiet, despite being next to a rail track. The view of hills and horses was appealing.
The property was warm and the wood burning stove was great - a note about where to buy more logs would be useful (you only get left a couple of logs).
The kitchen is well stocked and for 2 people the property is spacious.
The Host agency sent far too many duplicate emails. They hadn't sent me the key code for the lock box which I didn't realise until we arrived at the property. As they were difficult to get hold of this was a bit stressful (though it was soon resolved).
Kitchen knives are mostly blunt.
The shower screen needs a good scrub in the corners.

The only downside to the cottage was the feeling that you were not to be trusted in the property. The amount of rules, so this, don’t do that made it feel as if you were not a responsible person and your intention was to destroy the place and not have a holiday there. We wanted to return next year but in honesty we don’t want the hassle of falling foul of one of the rules! We joked it was like being in a German training camp, but it wasn’t funny and not able to relax in case we accidentally made a mess or disobeyed a rule.

Fantastic location with terrific views, right on the Pennine Way. The cottage was immaculate, with everything to a very high standard. Loved the log fire, very efficient and easy to use. Bed was very comfortable.
Disappointed not to see the "wonky clock"!

Lovely cottage and great location. Only a couple of niggles: 1) compostable bin bags had been put in the kitchen bin which is not great for moving your kitchen rubbish outside! 2) I did not appreciate having to pay a damage excess through a third party I believe this could have been made clearer. It's on the listing but it would have been good to have this in your booking confirmation message so that if we'd missed it in the listing and didn't feel comfortable paying through a third party website we would have been able to cancel within the refund window.
Cottage itself was lovely in great location for walks and an easy stroll to a pub.

A property to be proud of. It was clean and perfectly formed, good bed linen, well equipped kitchen and great rooms all round...a stunning location and very, very helpful neighbours! A great place on the Hadrian Wall route. Would highly recommend!
These are really nit picky points because stay was lovely and cottage is everything that is described. Would highly recommend. Mattresses soft (my back is rubbish so maybe not an issue for most people) and only one log for burner...would probably have lit a fire if had one more or if we knew, (did I miss something in details about this?!...quite likely tbh lol) would have chucked a couple in car...yup we did visit in August...Great British Summertime at its best!

We have had a lovely stay . My only problem was finding a dirty high chair for my baby , it was covered in mouldy food . The other problem was the carpet downstairs , I understand that allowing dogs into the rental would make it difficult to keep the carpet clean but I felt it was so bad that I didn’t feel like I could put my baby on the floor to crawl , such a shame because it is a lovely cottage .

Excellent location and clean and comfortable.
Needed a larger bin in the kitchen and the bathroom mirror needed fixing. A damage waiver was requested which turned out to be non refundable adding quite an amount to the cost for two nights stay.

The property was spacious for 2 but would be very cramped for 4 with a small kitchen, only lounge seating for 3 and a small bathroom.
A day before our free cancellation period expired they sought to change the terms of the damage deposit. Booking.Com state that a £250 deposit is required and this will be returned in full after an inspection. Fair enough. However, the management company were insistent that an admin fee had to be deducted and that any damage over £250 would be our responsibility. The alternative was to pay £25 and be covered for damage up to £500. After much argy bargy, it was clear that the management company were not going to back down, or allow us to cancel our stay or give us the key code and directions until we had agreed to their terms. I asked if an inventory would be provided that we could check off, how else were we meant to know what should be there.? They advised that they do not have an inventory. To compound the matter halfway through our stay I received an e mail stating that if I did not advise them of any breakages or damage before we departed we would be fully responsible for the cost of replacing. Now without an inventory it is impossible for me to know what they think is there so in order to cover myself I had to send an e mail setting out what I thought was missing. This included no beer glasses, what appeared to be a missing champagne flute, no cafetière or second lounge chair ( both of these items they said they were going to include in response to earlier reviews) no mirror in the back bedroom and no casserole dish. Also, there were a multitude of stains on the armchair, settees and carpets all of which I would have expected to have been cleaned before our arrival given how hot they appear to be on any damage. Finally, we had to reduce our booking by one day which we did during the free cancellation period but no refund was processed, until I chased over two weeks after the cancellation and even after paying for a damage waiver, I had to chase for the key code and directions on the night before our arrival.

The house was pristine and the layout was great for bringing the dogs into the house and making sure they were clean before going into the lounge.
Location was very convenient for us to visit friends and having the pub / hotel in easy walking distance was a bonus.

Wonderful location and great apartment. Two things are noteworthy:
* sadly we could not find a CoffeeMaker anywhere although it was advertised
* despite being very dog friendly, dogs are not allowed except for on the ground floor

Nice little cottage, in the countryside, in a very quiet setting and close to nice hiking paths. The cottage is rather well equipped and comfortable.
The key safe to get the keys doesn't work very well. Most importantly, this cottage has an oil heating system, and even if the heating oil tank is outside of the cottage there's a smell of heating oil inside and that's rather unpleasant.

Rambler’s Rest was nicely furnished with the log burner being the best feature.
No extractor fan in bathroom, dirty pan in the cupboard, no washing up liquid.
There was an issue over paying the damage retainer - Booking.com said it would be returned in full whilst Host & Stay said they would take an admin fee. It felt like I was being held to ransom by Host and Stay and caused unnecessary stress. Host and Stay would not believe that the booking terms and conditions on Booking.com were different. This needs to be sorted for the benefit of other guests.

We stayed here as a family for Easter weekend to give us a base to walk parts of Hadrian's Wall. The place is located in a peaceful area, with a walking path up to a ruined castle and along a pathway across the railway line into Greenhead village, all within 10 mins walk. From the walking path in front of the Airbnb you can pick up the Hadrian's Wall pathway. It is peaceful in the middle of hills and near fields of sheep.
The place is warm and comfortable with a good space for a family, two couples or a small group of friends.
The Airbnb is as described and as in the photos. We shared with the owners when we were there that the kitchen equipment was very basic or poor quality which didn't work to cook breakfast, and they responded immediately to apologise and to confirm that they would address this.

Great location with a great walking route literally on the doorstep. Plenty of smashing local pubs to have cozy lunches in. Weather was glorious during our stay but that meant we couldn't sit in and relax as we were out walking all day .
The house was spotless clean and tidy with quality fixtures and facilities.
Communication from our host was excellent.
My only suggestion would be to take an essentials pack with things like foil, oil, surface spray, cling film as this is not provided.
Would happily recommend this place and is a great place in all weathers.

We’ve had an enjoyable stay at the cottage, beautiful surroundings and view. The place was basic, but cosy and lovely decor throughout. The beds were extremely comfy, blackout curtains and very peaceful. We would definitely book again. I have fed back a few changes I think could be made, but a lovely stay.

Great location for walks and a lovely pub with delicious food down the road. The house itself was well-equipped and decorated nicely and to top it off, we were surprised with a card, bottle of wine and box of biscuits when we arrived!
Probably just need a new pan in the kitchen and the door lock was a bit stiff. Everything else was perfect!

This was our second visit and again, never failed.
A lovely two night stay to celebrate our son’s birthday.
Certainly be visiting again later in the year, evenings spent in front of the fire is beautiful with views out onto the field where we saw the sheep.
We also got to witness a stunning night sky, our son witnessed his first aurora!

Everything was perfect with the place, the area and owners of the property. I would recommend all of them. Honeslty that were so lovely.
'Stay' however, (the managing company I think) stressed me out so much about the cleaning of the place and getting out in time for the cleaners that there was a bit of a shadow over the trip.

The house is beautifully decorated and has a real sense of space inside. It had everything we needed. The log burner was lovely after a wet day on the Pennine way. The location couldn’t really get any better for those who like to walk around Northumberland. I would highly recommend the house to anyone wanting to get away.

The house was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. A real home from home, with everything we needed. Also an ideal location for exploring nearby Haltwhistle and the various Hadrian's Wall attractions. We also explored a few local walks. There is a beautiful ruined castle on hill a short from the house.
