Paid the deposit upon making the booking and the day after you took the remaining balance six month's before our trip. Also one week before our trip you ask for a £25 damage waiver before you sent the keycode!!! No mention of this(unless it's hidden in the small print). Nice spacious house ,soured by these couple of issue's,which should be made clear when booking.

The house location was lovely. The house was spacious and comfortable for 6 people. The Red Lion across the road was excellent. The check-in lock box was good. The beds were comfortable. The view from one of the rooms was really lovely. The heating system worked well.
The shared bathroom on the 2nd floor had no lock. All the doors were EXTREMELY heavy and didn't shut well. The window double glazing was cloudy in a few of the rooms. There was no salt in the kitchen? I think the check-in and check-out times are a bit unreasonable - it means you hardly have any time in the house if you're staying for a short time (16.00 check in, check out 10.00).
The wifi didn't work at all even though it was on the booking details. I wasn't keen on the system with Host and Stay, that you have to leave a deposit which then has £10 taken off for admin fees, or a non-refundable waiver of £30. We chose the deposit, which doesn't get refunded for quite some time. I called Host and Stay in regards to the wifi, I was ASSURED that the lady would call me back that day, she didn't. I emailed them online and they got back to me slowly, and the wifi situation was never fixed, and it was really difficult to get any answers out of anyone. I won't use host and stay again for these reasons. I found it all very unfriendly towards the service user.

The bedrooms were large and spacious.
Very comfy beds.
Dogs welcome.
Very warm house with plenty of hot water.
En suite bedroom door handle broken. Got locked into room. Luckily others in house opened from other side.
House in general rather shabby. Cobwebs everywhere.
Kitchen Crockery had gold pattern on rims so couldn't use in microwave. Had to use Pyrex mixing bowl to heat porridge for breakfast. Maybe plain crockery when time comes to replace?
The house was quite expensive in hindsight for the condition it was in.
No dishwasher.
Also didn't like being told about compulsory insurance which had to be paid just a week or so before date to visit which was long after the full cost of rental had already been paid without mentioning the insurance.

Lots of room, great facilities.
Spotted a few cobwebs!
Listing could be clearer as the postcode wasn’t enough to find the property and we were unclear on the number of beds/ how many guests could stay in which rooms.

The Old Post Office exceeded all expectations. The spacious layout, with ample beds and various cozy areas for relaxation, made it the perfect retreat. We especially loved how easy it was to unwind, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy some downtime. Another highlight was the charming local pub, just a stone's throw away. Being so close meant we could easily pop in for a drink without worrying about finding a designated driver, adding to the overall sense of relaxation. This stay truly offered the perfect blend of comfort and convenience.
In certain parts of the accommodation, the condition was somewhat disappointing and showed signs of neglect. For example, the wardrobe handles were loose and would come off when opened, which was frustrating. Additionally, we discovered a smashed vase near the speakers in the conservatory upon our arrival, which wasn’t the best first impression. I was also a bit surprised by the need for a damage deposit. These small issues took away from what could have been a more seamless stay.

Great stay at The Old Post Office in Burnsall, location is well placed in the village and close to a nice pub for food and drink, lots of local walks around. The property is beautiful, lots of good shared space with kitchen, garden, conservatory and two sitting rooms which was perfect for a bigger group. Kitchen is filled with all the cooking essentials you might need which made it easy to just turn up and enjoy the holiday. Really well decorated and comfortable inside.

The old post office lived up to our expectations however, the only concern we have is with booking the property , which is down to the agent Host and Stay. We already have travel insurance which covers us for trips within the UK. However Host and stay insist on extra insurance and a security deposit with a £10 admin fee. It is over a week since we returned from our holiday at the old post office, and to date we have not received our security deposit back. In their documentation they state, the security deposit may take up to 2 weeks to be returned.
Why,
I would book the old post office again, however, I may use a different agent.

The shower I used had a tendency to spray water onto the floor and, after mopping it up, it was difficult to dry the towels (more towels would be nice). The Aga was on (and hot!) when we arrived, which seemed a bit odd.

The location is lovely but this doesn’t give it an excuse to be dirty.
Sand, hair and food left in the kitchen sink. Cobwebs everywhere. Tired paintwork. Broken lightbulbs. Dirty BBQ and utensils left out. Flys and dirt on windowsills. The list could go on.
The Log burner which is described as a feature in the description, was left with ash in and the reminisce on the floor. Also after 31st March logs are not provided as it’s considered to warm. (This is not made clear in the description). we visited in April with night time temperatures of below zero.
Pictures sent to host!
Overall has to be the most grubby and unloved air B&B we have visited. Previous reviews also mention the same issues. Very disappointing

Location is great.
Significant amount of additional charges applied over the "total booking cost" I originally saw, which you'd miss unless you vet the T&C's, really upset about this.
Property wasn't as clean as expected either, and door handles often had not been properly attached. Meaning a small pull and the handle came loose. The main bedroom is a great example of this. Instead of repairing the handle, which would have been an easy fix, they've just drilled in a curtain hook to be used as an alternative handle. Not exactly great.

Great central location in the village. Cottage was full of character. Liked there was space for people to go into different rooms. Comfortable beds, plenty of clean linen/towels.
No blind/curtain fittings in all the bedrooms - should have been told in advance but easy to fix going forward. Instructions for commercial coffee machine would have been useful.

Great place for a big group. Lots of communal space and large bedrooms. Our second visit to the place and would return again. Great location too.
If I'm being super picky. The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is that there is no parking. so with 4 couples coming from different directions it was a bit of a scramble for a space in the village. It wouldn't stop us returning and there is a car park in the village if there wasn't space on the road

We had a lovely stay, the only negative which is what a lot of reviews say, which is the level of cleaning. We had to dust the headboards ourselves before we slept in them. There’s alot of long standing cobwebs around … please listen to the reviews and get a thorough deep clean done.. as it’s a beautiful spacious house and we would have booked again.
The location is perfect, it’s helped by having the fabulous Red Lion who have the most friendliest staff. Gorgeous walks all around too.

Very spacious, great location.
Property needs a good clean, thick with dust and we found a dirty nappy down the side of one of the beds.
Kitchen is lacking general utensils, no tin opener, kitchen roll, bing bags.

This property was everything we needed and much more, the added touch of the. Christmas tree made our arrival special. The property is so spacious but cozy.
We struggled a little with cooking on the Aga as hadn’t used one before but adapted well in the end.

Great place in the Dales. Near good pubs and great walks. Warm and dry
No waste paper bins in at least 2 of the bedrooms. One bedroom had no dressing table and no mirror. Spatula for cooking would have been useful. A walk in shower would have been a lot easier for my elderly mum

Warm and cosy with the AGA on.
Bedrooms clean and comfortable.
Garden furniture in a poor condition, stools and tables looked as if they would collapse if used.
However good barbecue.

Location could not be better.
The size of the property the decoration.
No dishwasher!
Garden furniture broken could not be used.
Lots of cobwebs although it was clean needs a deep clean.
A tv in the snug would be better as the one in the lounge is difficult for everyone to get round.

The location, beds were so comfy, lots of space
The garden hasn’t been maintained for a long time clearly and isn’t useable which was a big shame. Also no dishwasher! Who wants to come on holiday and wash pots, ahh let it down both these factors. Also odd smell on first entrance but went away after a day or so

Lovely house, very spacious. There is a big AGA range in kitchen throws out a lot of heat. Would be a cosy place to sit in winter, but was very hot in summer. Thankfully the conservatory was a great summer place to sit. Only minor negative comment I have is that lighting is a little dim for reading/knitting in the evenings.
The location is perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. We had some lovely walks right the house.

Good location, and nice house, a little tired.
location butifull, but as expected very busy.
Things to note:
No dish washer, not a major issue as we ate out.
No curtains /blinds a number of rooms????
Garden furniture a little rickety.
Two superb pubs in Appletreewick, a 1.7 mile walk along the river, beer excellent and food good.
The Red Lion, close but the beer was disappointing, and food on the high side.

The location was perfect for my daughters wedding in the church. The beds were very comfortable and spacious
We couldn’t open the door with the key and after 10 minutes of trying, I rang host and stay and left a message but also rang the proprietor. I explained that my daughter was getting married and we were hosting the bridal team but she was extremely rude and told me I should be ringing host and stay and slammed the phone down on me. Why she had her number on the website beggars belief.
The back patio door was difficult to open and even more difficult to close. The bathroom lock was broken, there was only 4 high bar stools and 2 rusty iron chairs in the garden to sit on which was in need of some weeding. There was not enough matching plates for 8 people and only 6 mugs. Quite difficult when hosting a house with a bride, 6 bridesmaids and myself plus hairdresser and make up artist. I was disappointed with the level of consideration given as the house states it accommodates 8 people and having paid just short of £1,500 for a 3 night stay I expected better. I get the impression that some proprietors are keen to take your money but have no customer service skills what so ever!

The numerous maintenance issues contributed to a dingy appearance. One room which had no curtain on a side window was used as a promotional picture! Would not recommend this property. Have paid similar price for a much better appointed property.

Location was perfect. We were self catering. The aga on all the time was a bonus as it was warm when we came back and also lots of hot water!
Lack of bedside tables! Lock was broken on the main bathroom door and one ceiling light was not working in a bedroom. There should have been a dishwasher! We were only 4 but it slept 8... a lot of washing up!

We stayed in Burnsall for my dad's 70th birthday, together with a dog and 2 small toddlers.
Initially upon enterting the property we were really impressed. The communication had been great and the photo's matched the property.
However, as we began settling in there were some basic things that bothered us:
- Only one of the bedrooms had curtains in all windows, which made it very difficult for putting toddlers to bed! We ended up trying to pack the window aloves with cushions to try and block out as much light as possible.
- The kitchen was lovely but had basic items missing such as a tin opener (we ended up going to the pub to ask them to open 4x tins of tuna we needed for our packed lunch when going out walking!)
- Most of the ornaments were covered in either dust or cobwebs.
- There were missing handles
- No dish washer (1st world problems but as we all have dish washers, this was definitely a chore!)
So all in all, okay - not dreadful but not brilliant either unfortunately.

Great property for our family New Years meet up. Spent most of the time in the Kitchen and conservatory which were lovely spaces, yet loved the separate bolt holes and bedrooms at the same times. Also everything you could possibly need for your stay.
Communication was a little clunky. Didn't like the hidden admin charge for giving an enforced security deposit. Postcode on some satnavs takes you to a property a few miles away (experiences by 2 separate members of our group)

The cottage was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Everything was spotless on arrival. All furniture was of a very high standard throughout. The location also exceeded our expectations. We had a very enjoyable few days and will definitely be recommending and be back.
There was nothing to dislike. If I was going to be really picky, I would say the garden needed a tidy up. If I was staying longer I would of loved to spend a few hours doing this, as the views were amazing and it was so peaceful.

The cottage is beautiful. Burnsall is perfect. The cottage has everything you need.
For the price you pay Airbnb for cleaning id expect it to be perfect but there were quite a lot of cobwebs and it was dusty in some areas of the house. Also, the toilet was broken when we arrived which wasnt ideal but luckily there were other toilets to use!
Id definitely recommend this cottage.

The location of this large, characterful house is absolutely perfect! Beautiful village and some great walks around.
For a large house, it would benefit from a dishwasher! Pre-warning that it’s hand wash only.
The AGA is fine, as long as you know how to use one! Plan ahead and with plenty of time.
The big let down for us was the cleanliness. People have mentioned it before in reviews. Thankfully the bed linen and towels were clean, but the rest of the house was not: dead flies on the en-suite windowsill, cobwebs everywhere, mould around the kitchen sink. Some really easy wins, so I hope the rental company do something about it!
With a clean, it would be as perfect as it’s pictures in the listing.

This house does need seem urgent maintenance, but it is a beautiful property in a lovely location. The kitchen smelt strongly of oil despite ventilation (we were reassured the aga had had recent maintenance) and the kitchen hot tap was leaky and faulty. Several doors did not shut properly and all the windows in the attic bedroom had no curtains. There was also no curtain in one of the front bedrooms - really not ideal when staying in summer! Would be a great stay if these issues were seen too.

Fantastic house for our large group in an excellent location, super comfy beds, comfortable, warm, very well equipped and lovely furnishings.

House was a great location.
Needs a major bit of TLC, lots of things such as broken chair, wallpaper hanging off the walls, the dust from the chimney coming through the fireplaces in the night time with the wind. Would stay again if these things all where sorted as the location is brilliant and plenty of room.

This house is set in the most beautiful place, nestled in a small village win the Yorkshire Dales with a large river running through the village, and lots of amazing walks nearby etc. The view of hills from the kitchen window was incredible - especially as we come from the flat land of Norfolk.
There are walks from the doorstep along the river, across footbridges and up to Hebden which has an amazing cafe.
Also recommend getting food at the Craven Arms which is a 5 mon drive. The steak and ale pie was amazing and every single dessert was outstanding- a brilliant pastry chef must work there! We ate in the bar area and there are fires dotted throughout the pub so it is warm and welcoming yet completely understated in a very refreshing way to what we are used to.
The house is very warm and clean. It was comfortable in the winter. It has a gorgeous patio garden with a bbq and chairs and a wonderful sun room. It was too cold in winter to use this though. We are a family of 5 but struggled to fit around the TV as there were not enough sofa spaces. The TV also wasn’t smart, but that meant we spent time playing games and being with each other more, so more of a holiday!
The dog really loved sleeping by the arga.
My advice is be prepared for arga cooking- we had a Sainsbury’s delivery to the door and made lots of stews which were ready when we came back from a long walk.
Really amazing place to get away from it all thank you

The location was good near to a pub for dinner large enough to accommodate the family of 6. A very warm house. Bedding and towels where excellent.
Very worn property and very tired. Blinds in ensuite broken door handle to room loose could easily get trapped in room. Only one TV in the whole of house. No instructions for the arga to help work the meal times etc. Ensuite and bathrooms had grubby screens and lots of dirty mastic around bath. Not enough toilet rolls to accommodate a family of 6. Grubby rugs and cobwebs. Very dark internally. Needs a good clean and a good decoration.

The Old Post Office is a lovely property that easily sleeps 8. The sitting areas are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. There is only an Aga in the kitchen so bear this in mind if you are wanting to cook a meal during your stay. The three main bedrooms are large with king size beds that are comfortable. The forth bedroom is in the attic and is open with the hallway on the second floor. The garden is fully enclosed and is a safe place for dogs and children. The house is situated across from The Red Lion pub and hotel, which offers a warm welcome to visitors and is dog friendly. We had an evening meal there and the food was good as were the portion sizes. There was a good wine and beer selection too. There is a lovely 7 mile circular walk from Burnsall to Grassington along the River Wharfe, which I would highly recommend.

This house is absolutely beautiful, and the village is lovely as well. A picturesque setting, with plenty of room for families or friends to get together. We did have an issue on our second day that the Aga stopped working, which was frustrating. But after a few phone calls the property company confirmed we could get food from the pub and they would reimburse us, which was a satisfactory outcome. And shout out to the Red Lion across the road as they were lovely, and managed to feed a fairly large group of us even though they were very busy on a Saturday night. Overall, it's a beautiful house in a beautiful location, and I would definitely recommend.

A great location in a beautiful village. The house is quirky and good for our 2 night stay.

This house is perfect for family gatherings. 4 big double bedrooms and both the kitchen and conservatory great for family meals.
Burnsall is a beautiful village, especially in the summer, and the house is in the heart of the village.

Great house for a family stay. Big bedrooms and plenty of everything. Conservatory is a great space for eating and chatting - faces south so caught the few rays of sunshine we saw! Wonderful views from the back of the house. Check in was easy and good communication from the Hosts. Thank you - wonderful place to catch up with family after so long.

Lovely area with lots to do. Property is quirky, and could do with a little tlc, although the beds and sofas were very comfortable. We weren’t able to book meals out in the village, however there are plenty of lovely places to eat within a 5 mile radius.

The location and surrounding scenery were great, however the property itself did not live up to expectations. On arrival the kitchen was in need of a good clean and other downstairs areas needed a good dust and hoover. There were various exposed wires and cables both inside and out which were unsightly. Some windows and doors were difficult to open and then impossible to close and the garden needed a tidy up. Overall, the property was in need of a lot of TLC.
The bedrooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The listing states '4 Bathrooms', however there are 2 bathrooms with showers over baths and 2 further cloakrooms.
There is only an Aga to cook on so be prepared.
On the plus side, the issues that we raised with the managing agent were dealt with and their communication was good and prompt.

The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the middle of Burnsall. The house has everything you need and plenty of space. So much to do within a 15-20 minute drive.

We loved our stay at The Old Post Office. Ideal for our family get-together. The beds are really comfortable, lots of spaces to hang out in the house, the area is magic- roll out of the front door and you are by the river or can go on glorious riverside walks from the front door. The Aga was lovely and warm and the property was well equipped, we had everything we needed. For us the photos didn't do it justice, The Old Post Office was comfortable, characterful and very spacious.

Pros:
Couldn't ask for a better location. Comfortable beds. Very good communication from managers. Was all that it said it was. Good facilities available - pots and pans, etc. (not always the case with holiday rentals).
Cons:
Could have been cleaner. A few things which have clearly not been fixed for a while, light switches, locks etc. But this is minor.
Overall, I would happily book again.

Situated in a beautiful area, the property is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely sun room at the back of the house was our go-to place to be.
Unfortunately our time there was affected by water supply issues on the upper floors which were not resolved at the time, compounded with other maintenance shortcomings, and poor / incorrect communication from the management company. Addressing these areas will make this property a real winner.

Great location for walking straight from the door and you won’t be disappointed with the scenery. The kitchen living space is homely and we loved the aga. Found the living spaces a little musky but bedrooms were tidy and beds extremely comfortable.

Gorgeous house, we stayed for 3 nights which was absolutely perfect. Lovley little village close to Skipton, Lots of nice walks around. The house was a little dusty/dirty in places but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Included everything you need for a family trip away. Would definitely recommend and return in the future. Thankyou

Spacious accommodation, lovely wood burner and living space, large bedrooms and lovely furniture. Beautiful location. Parking minimal and difficult if returning from a day out to find a park but space for one vehicle outside if required if no other parking in the village. Clean cottage and very warm and welcoming.

Very spacious and warm house. Fantastic location for walking and access to lots of great places to visit. There is no dishwasher which would be a pain for a large group.

Fantastic location in a beautiful little village, with great walking from the door. Unfortunately the property was not as clean as it should have been, which was a shame. Everything else was good and we had a really lovely weekend here.
