The amount of light, lighting and sockets was great!
An engineer had to be called as the heating and hot water wouldn’t work. The flat was extremely hot in the morning but the heating couldn’t be controlled to come back on in the earning. The bedroom carpet was wet around the door and didn’t dry out all weekend. The cushions on the bed had stains on them the duvet and mattress too had several stains on them (we stripped the bed before we left). The light in the bathroom went off repeatedly whilst you are taking a shower, the only way to keep it on was to repeatedly wave your hand out of the shower. The dark blue walls in the bedroom were too dark for my eye sight I found it difficult to see garments in the dressing area without using the torch on my phone.

This was not a 5* property.
Property felt neglected . It needs a good clean and a lot of maintenance carried out.
Badly chipped paint and shabby furniture in bedroom. Mould in the shower
and a rusty sink unit. A damp musty smell though the flat.
It's a shame as there is a fabulous view over rooftops to the abbey and sea.
Really hope host &stay sorted this out, people deserve better.

Fantastic location and beautifully presented. A few things (lack of kitchen equipment, damage to doors and walls, and no parking permits) would need to be sorted for me to want a return visit! These things feel like are a miss in what is otherwise a stunning property. I hope they can sort these few bits for future guests!

Location was good. Apartment has potential.
Apartment needs a deep clean and general refurbishment. It felt a bit unloved. Need to adjust details for finding apartment on info sent by host as no longer correct, so made it hard to find.

The location of this property was excellent and we were very lucky to get a car parking spot in a public car park around the corner. The views from the living area were great and the decor was beautiful. Loved that we could also bring our dog here.
The carpets and sofa could do with a deep clean, there was a stain on the duvet cover. The shower didn’t drain properly which caused a near flood in the bathroom. Noticed quite a few scuffs and marks that could do with touching up.

It was an absolutely lovely stay and we had a great time. Only thing was there was quite a few black hairs left in the bathroom behind the bin and on the sink which were easily removed. The place itself was stunning with a really nice view of the abbey and a perfect place to stay for a couple days.

Great location and amazing view, comfortable and well maintained,
Only thing that is a slight letdown is the bathroom light is on a sensor and keeps going off every 30 seconds when in the shower,

generally very clean and very tidy, clutter free, clean bed linens and towels. Nice clear view of the abbey from the living room window. coffee machine and pods provided with milk sachets in the fridge, and dishwasher(incl tabs). looks like photos. lots of communication from host. only real let downs are the stairs (which tbf is expected due to it being called the loft, but theres 4 flights and no fire escape in case of emergency) and the fact that there are no blinds in the living room. wouldn't usually have been bothered but theres another buildings window facing directly opposite the window above the tv so felt lacking privacy a little.

Beautiful view
central to where we wanted to be
nice decor
Great that they allow dogs
Bed super comfy (bit squeeky though)
No parking scratch cards
Loads of rubbish spilt all over the front upon arrival(not the owners fault though)
No scissors
Could do with a door stop to hold the living room door open.
Could do with a cleaning spray so we can clean the kitchen sides after use

great location and looks just like the pictures. plenty of kitchen ware and cooking tools which was great. only downside was that it wasn’t the cleanest. i appreciate that it is dog friendly so stains on rugs etc are expected - however cabinets and bed side tables etc were very dusty.

The property was in a fantastic location to the town of Whitby and were able to find a big carpark nearby and then walk the rest of the time. The apartment was close to the pictures put online and was modern. The amenities were there and it was nice and bright in the kitchen/living space.
We were quite dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment. Check out time is 10am and we couldn’t check in until 4pm, this gives the owners ample time to clean the apartment. The crockery and cutlery had bits of dried food on them which made us feel uncomfortable eating in the apartment and were put off our breakfast, there were white crusty stains on the pillows on the bed and the sofa, quite a lot of damage to the walls in the bedroom. The paint is dark in there so the damage was very obvious. The mirror had someone’s fingerprints all over them and some of the lightbulbs were out and not working and hadn’t been replaced. For an apartment that is £150 a night, we would of preferred to stay elsewhere with better level of cleanliness and attention to detail. We would appreciate some feedback on this.

The apartment was decorated and looked amazing, the thing that let it down is that it needed a really good clean. The bed was clean and made beautifully but there was toothpaste water marks in the bathroom and dust throughout. I think all it’s had is a superficial clean between guests, and it was in need of a thorough clean. Also, hardly any cutlery.

Close to the centre of Whitby. Brilliant view of the Abbey and of Whitby.
We would not recommend for anyone to book this property.
Initially, we were given the wrong code for the keysafe and were unable to get through to Host & Stay for around 30 minutes. After we had received the correct code, we went into the apartment and we were not impressed with the presentation.
We booked the property when the parking scratch card was included, but there was no scratch card to be found. When we contacted Host & Stay, they informed us that the property owner is no longer providing the scratch card and that Host & Stay would not honour the original booking which included the parking scratch card and refused to comp us for having to pay out of pocket for the parking.
Guests are given the option to pay either a non-refundable £20 damage waiver, or a £150 refundable damage deposit. The £20 damage waiver is clearly not being used to maintain the property to a reasonable standard. There are several marks on the walls, floors and furniture.
The property looked as though it had not had a thorough clean in a long time. There was a layer of dust on the bedside table and dresser, several hairs and bits of dirt on the floors. The mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom had not been cleaned upon our arrival. The en-suite bathroom door did not close properly and the bathroom stunk of stagnant water. There was mould inside the shower. The bathroom light turned off every few minutes and at around 30 second intervals at certain points.
After our stay at The Loft, we read reviews from between the time we booked and the time we stayed. Host & Stay have not made any of the improvements that they promised to previous guests.
We will not be booking with Host & Stay in future but hope that they take our review and reviews from previous guests into account for the sake of future guests.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here! The host was very responsive for any questions we had and instructions were clear and helpful. Location was spot on, close to most things all around 10 minute walk! Car park was round the corner and around £10 for 24 hours. The apartment itself was very spacious and would definitely visit again!

The apartment itself is quite impressive with a good view of the Abbey. If you need a socket to plug something in they really went to town with over 20 in the property.
Whilst the apartment is nice with a good view the windows are filthy and the decor and carpet needs a re-vamp. The property is located in a shabby side street and once you've unlocked the key safe the front door leads to a cramped, steep staircase that smells damp and musty. When you reach the apartment and yet more stairs the carpet inside is a light fawn colour and not compatible with dirty feet and there's no mat to wipe them on. The property is modern with black taps with indistinguishable heat settings which didn't really matter as there was no hot water.! The host had assured us we would be provided with scratch parking cards for the duration of our stay but there was none left on display on our arrival. We did eventually find some in a drawer but our eureka moment was short lived when we realised they were 3 years out of date.! The WiFi also wouldn't connect and we were eventually given a new password completely different from the one left by the router. The host, Charlie assured us over many emails that he would sort out the tickets and the hot water. In the meantime we could only park within certain hours near the property. The tickets never came and despite using a local car park I did pick up a parking ticket when I thought I was ok because the sign said 3hrs no return in 2 but you still needed a card or a disc. I hadn't been happy with the insurance the property had billed me for and now I had a fine.! The hot water was fixed on our second day. The host promised to refund £20 to my card for the inconvenience.... I'm still waiting. This was a stressful 3 days and my wife was annoyed I spent so much time sending emails to Charlie and not enjoying our anniversary. I wouldn't recommend this property if you've got a car and you don't like stairs. Whitby was great, host&stay were not.

Beautiful property with lovely fixtures and fittings however considering you pay a large cleaning fee the cleanliness was very poor. The property also needs some attention as well flaking off wall. When it was first done it would be amazing, just needs more attention to detail.

Me and my wife stayed here for 3 nights, it was a loft apartment so quiet a few stairs but once inside the view was amazing.

The location was great: close to all that Whitby has to offer, including the beach which is dog friendly for 7 months of the year. It was very quiet, apart from the seagulls in the early hours. The parking permit was very welcome as we could leave the car just a short way up the street.
The shared entrance is looking a tad unwelcoming.

Beautiful view and location. Cheap enough.
Decor is nice but really needs touching up - paint peeling off walls and carpets covered in stains, could do with a refresh. Blankets/throw pillows need cleaning. Had to repressurise the boiler ourselves as we were without heating/hot water for half of our stay. Bathroom light goes off every 90 seconds when you’re in the shower because it’s on a timer which drove us a bit crazy.

At a glance the property is well decorated, but does require a lot of maintenance which is a shame as they were really simple fixes. E.g. holes had been filled but not sanded and painted, painting peeling in main bedroom, broken furniture. I only express these as we paid for the damage cover on the property but felt like if we did make any damage it wouldn’t have been noticeable due to the amount of damage already.
I think the property has a lot of potential and is in a perfect location with amazing view, but the overall price with the hidden fees was a little high especially in the low season

The loft was a wonderful place to stay. Skinner street was a great location with privacy but also plenty to do.
The loft was really well equipped for a few days away and had beautiful views as was read in the description.
The decor was stunning and was just up our street. The windows in the loft provided lovely ventilation.
The loft is EXCELLENT value for money and I’d stay here again in a heart beat.
The hosts should be extremely proud of this air B&B and we’d like to thank them for a lovely stay.

As the cleaning was sub standard I feel the charge for cleaning was over priced. There’s lots of accommodation in Whitby therefore a lot of competition so these standards should be top notch, the furniture & soft furnishings is the wrong choice for multi guests staying. The bedroom needs repainting & all the carpets need a deep clean/replaced. Sofa is stained, pouffe is stained, rug is stained, cushions are stained as is the carpet. It is however a beautiful apartment, just needs some TLC, however as along as guests are prepared to pay the price then I don’t imagine that there will be any significant changes made

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Loft. The views over Whitby are stunning, and the apartment is lovely - well equipped and decorated nicely. The host’s communication was fantastic, and they were responsive prior and during our stay. The location is spot on - so easy to access the town and beach, and is surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and pubs.
I would have given 5 stars, however, the cleanliness of the apartment let it down. Upon check-in, this included:
- Heavily stained carpet on the stairs and rug in the living room
- The furniture and surfaces (TV stand, bedside tables, bathroom unit, toaster) haven’t been polished for a while, as they were covered a thick layer of dust
- There was a large clump of hair in the shower grid
- Kitchen cupboards were covered in greasy marks and water stains.
All of this is so rectifiable, and would recommend this be looked into. I’d also suggest providing a hoover & putting a permanent light in the bathroom over the sensor one 😊

Lack of communication from Host & Stay resulted in us not even staying there. We didn’t receive any check in instructions,
I had to chase them, waited for an hour then finally got the instructions. Got into the accommodation to find it was filthy and had not been cleaned since the last check out. I then had to call them again only to be left on hold, the call centre dealing with it did not seem to know what to do, said they’d call me back once a cleaner had been round, but that never happened. I tried to call back to find out what was going on but was left on hold again, wasted over 3 hours of my time trying to sort out their problem. In the end we had to book alternative accommodation, was not the start to our break away that we wanted and how Host and Stay dealt with the matter was very poor.
Airbnb was very helpful with the refund. The ‘damage deposit’ taken directly from host and stay has taken much longer to refundand the fact they charged a £10 fee for the deposit is outrageous

Great place! Amazing views and great decor, everywhere is within walking distance. It is worth noting that getting up to the room requires several flights of stairs (which I personally didn’t find a problem with, but it’s not something I was aware of beforehand). Overall, highly recommend!

I know air bnbs are not there to provide all your provisions for a stay but two teabags for a three night stay was a little tight in my opinion. We were also only provided with two dishwasher tablets, I want expecting a whole box but one per day would have been welcomed.
Also be aware an email a day before check out said check out time midday but on morning of check out were told it was 10.00hrs. You would think they would get this information correct, luckily we were up early enough that we were out for 10 but could have been charged extra if we hadn’t been.
Nice view from the flat however, decor a little tired but clean enough and actually the sofa in the lounge is cleaned by properly as was still a little damp on check in.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Whitby.

beautiful property with everything near by, felt like our own little home for the weekend. I will definitely come back.
states on booking that checkout is 10 but the emails received from host & stay stated 12. we were delighted about the 12 checkout as i had a late flight home but decided to triple check - we were told nope, it’s 10…then received another email about 12.
We would of really appreciated the later checkout as it had been raining that day & there was nowhere to leave our bags so had to lug those around for the day.

We stayed for a weekend in February. The location and view are amazing and the kitchen and bedroom are designed really nicely. Unfortunately, the TV had evidently factory reset and was logged out of Amazon so we couldn't use it. We reported it but found the customer service not very helpful. The light timer in the bathroom is annoyingly short if you want to have an evening shower. The flat lacked essential cooking items such as a colander and no cleaning products except the dish-washer, so we had to buy our own.
Overall a great stay but a few improvements could have made it even better!

Great communication throughout our stay the loft certainly has the wow factor, spotlessly clean (apart from stain on carpet as we came in) and looked exactly like the photos, great location and really peaceful. Parking wasn't an issue for us and being able to pay via apps was a bonus we could just top up when we needed to. Agree with others about the bathroom light being on a sensor/timer was a pain it going off when in the shower at night but we worked around it. Overall loved our stay there and would highly recommend host and stay they where always on hand if we needed anything
Ellis

Lovely location, I’d agree with the other reviews that the bathroom light timer is a bit annoying! It goes off every two minutes and leaves you in the dark. Few stains on the carpets and scuffed walls. Same goes for broken toilet seat other people have reviewed, easy fix.
Other than that, which I arrived already expecting, everything was great. One thing I’d say is beware of the complimentary parking scratchcards if they leave you them! They aren’t valid for the council pay and display car parks that the host also recommends (??) which cost me £100 in parking tickets - which wasn’t great!

View from the window was lovely.
We had to ring the host and stay number as they hadn’t sent through the code for the key code. When we booked through booking.com it was fine. Separately we had to pay a damage disclaimer to hostandstay. Why? Genius was pointless as it cost more.
When we got into the property it was filthy. We do have photos. Spider webs in the corner. Surfaces wiped but still not clean. We paid a cleaning fee for when we left but it was disgusting when we arrived. We left it cleaner than when we arrived.
When having a shower the bathroom light was on a timer. 2 minutes in the shower at night and the light went off. We had to shout each other to turn the light back on. Never ever had that anywhere we’ve stayed around the world.
If we ever book with you again and it comes up as a hostandstay property we will not be booking it. Absolutely ridiculous to pay what we did and get charged extra after. I’ve downloaded the hotel.com app and will be looking at sites like triviago from now on if this is the kind of places you promote. So so so disappointed.
Oh and the toilet set was loose and you took your life in your hands sitting on it .
Not good

The location of the apartment is ideal, view of the abbey and view of the sea and some lovely places to eat and drink on Skinner street. The interior of the apartment is also very stylish.
The apartment could do with more of a deep clean. Huge cobwebs in the bedroom. Layers of dust on the beams. This is not a big job so it would be good to see it completed. Two tea bags and two coffee capsules. (One of which had already been used) is not very substantial. As was one shower gel and one shampoo.

The loft is beautiful, a great space in a reallt convenient location. The parking arrangements suited us well and the flexible check in was easy. The apartment is really tastefully decorated with amazing views.
There were a couple of small issues like dusty surfaces, marked carpets and paint missing, which could be easily fixed. The apartment would be outstanding if these were resolved.
The bathroom light is automatic and switches off after only a few seconds on non movement. It does not recognise movement while you're in the shower so we found ourselves showering in the dark or with the door open and bedroom light on. I did message the host twice but didn't receive a reply which was disappointing. I could have rang the number, but we left early each day and were on the beach with no signal until dark.
Overall we were really happy, would stay again and would recommend to other people.

The Loft was exactly as described, ideally located for pubs & cafes and less than 10 minute walk to the harbour & sea front. Parking is the only slight challenge, hosts provide a parking permit but we found it easier to pay for the car park around the corner. In peak season this might not be so easy.
Facilities in the apartment all good.

Apartment was lovely but do agree with some previous reviews, it could have been less dusty/lots of cobwebs, and whilst we did take our dog, there was evidence of another pet having been with black pet hairs on the furniture even though they ask for pets not be on furniture. Perfect location with a beautiful view of the abbey from the arched window, parking is available very close by, and would visit again happily, perfect place for a weekend away.

Bedroom paint work was tatty, very dusty with broken bedside lamp shade.
Living room carpet & sofa were stained with hair on the mat, not mine.
Spat out chewing gum in the kitchen bin was a nice touch, left it there & used spare bin liner.
Could not use dishwasher as door would not shut. Contacted customer service at 4pm on Friday. Was told she would contact
maintenance & phone me back which she never did. Contacted again on the Saturday morning, was told that there was no record of my previous call but would look into it.
She called me back to ask what the make & model of the dishwasher was.
Waited in all day to no avail & eventually called again at 4pm Saturday to be told by a very pleasant young man that there was maintenance available at weekends unless there was an an emergency.
I therefore wasted 24 hrs of my holiday as if the 2 people I initially spoke to had told me this I would not have stayed in waiting to re
To say this was annoying is an understatement & I look forward to receiving a reply from you very soon

This is a lovely little apartment let down by Host and Stay.
Firstly the unexpected damage waiver / deposit should be advertised or inc in the price on Airbnb
Secondly the payment system failed to take payment and H&S didn’t provide any a check in details. A few hours before I was due to arrive with a baby. I had to call them.
They wanted me to pay on my phone when I was driving. Had I not called in office hours I would have not been able to enter the property.
Finally the nice little appt. Was filthy. The shower had hair in it and used shampoo sachets left from prev guests. Toothpaste marks all over the bathroom cabinet, food and spill on the floor, rug was full of dirt and stains. Dust everywhere, dirty marks on all walls. Like snot. The toilet seat had dried urine on it.
We reported it and got told ‘we’ll let house keeping know’ then a message at end telling us to clean and tidy the appt before leaving!
Would not recommend H&S

3 flights of stairs to get into apartment so bear this mind . Parking isn’t a major issue but again bear this mind of planning on carrying lots of luggage as you will have to walk from car .

Lovely place to stay in a good location. Decorated really nicely but a little rough around the edges and there was food on the living room floor. Everywhere was visibly dusty. However I understand it must be a popular place to stay with Whitby being busy.
Also bad communication about checking out time. Two bits of info say check out was 12pm but it was actually 10am.
Overall I enjoyed my stay, just need a little attention to cleaning and accurate info

We had a lovely few days staying in The Loft, the navy blue bedroom is a very relaxing space and the living/room kitchen area is a lovely open space that's pleasant and airy. It has an amazing view over the rooftops and looking out over Whitby Abbey. Would 100% recommend for a couples stay with everything you need in walking distance of The Loft.

If you're looking for a unique stay in Whitby, I recommend this accommodation. The views of the abbey and ocean are undeniable and in my opinion what make this place stand out. The location was excellent, being situated not too far from the main high street, and close to some of the best breakfast places. The added parking pass was appreciated, though we had a hard time finding parking with the "W" zones. The shower was incredible too.
As other reviews on here state though, it is the attention to cleanliness that could be improved. There was dust and cobwebs in the bedroom, peeling wallpaper, and the bathroom sink was clogged. I am used to staying in hostels so I am not picky when it comes to cleanliness, however when I am paying $460 CAD for 2 nights, this needs to be set at a high standard. The £25 deposit was also unexpected and unclear if that's being refunded.
Overall, was happy to have stayed here for the views and location. But was disappointed at the lack of cleanliness.

Hi,
I took my mum to Whitby for two nights and the place was just perfect! The view from the living room is stunning and everything is in close distance to walk. But the apartment is slightly off the main seafront which is nice and quiet.
Definitely would go back there if I go back to Whitby!
Thanks

Great location. Views were amazing over the Abbey and roof tops. Great property, but……
Stains on the carpet, not cleaned very well, maintained “ok,” had to buy a frying pan as none provided.
Bathroom light is on a sensor, so if you showered in the morning, you did it in the dark.
I would recommend, but it’s the attention to detail.

My stay at this loft was great. The flat was sparkling and the host communicated efficiently. I had a bit of a complaint when in my last day but they were amazing at resolving it and the customer service was phenomenal. Could not recommend more.

There will be an additional charge for damage insurance etc which should’ve been mentioned at the first place. Apart from that, the apartment is dusty, although we love the aesthetics and window view of the flat.

The location and the view. Spacious airy living room, amazing kitchen facilities. Quiet, peaceful bedroom. Parking was easy
The bathroom door was difficult to manoeuvre. Ended up leaving it open wide enough to squeeze through, and the other person going to the sitting room while we used the toilet.
Door lock to the Loft itself was unpredictable.

Really lovely property in the centre of things, the view was stunning and the kitchen had everything's we needed and was nice to cook in. We had a mix up with the parking pass and host and stay worked with us to sort it out in a quick and friendly way.
One note, the ensuite is right on top of the bedroom, so if you're not completely comfortable with the person you're staying with hearing your bathroom activities then I'd take this into consideration.
We'd absolutely stay here again.

the location and view from window
the fact we had to pay in full when booking and then week before we were told we needed to pay insurance of £25 non refundable and also the sliding bathroom door was broken we couldn’t open or shut it and they meant that the bathroom light kept coming on and off all night waking us up, when we reported it they said they couldn’t get anyone there until Monday so wasn’t brilliant for us on Saturday and Sunday night we left Monday so not sure if the fault has bern resolved. bad service.

The location was great, and the view from the top window is amazing. It’s a really cosy space, especially in the evening.
This property has so much potential, but some of the small details that make a big difference have been missed. The high wooden beams hadn’t been dusted, and the cream rug in the living room is grubby. There are photo frames on the wall without pictures in them- with these things attended to, it could be a perfect space.

The Loft is a very nice place to stay in Whitby. It’s in a great location and very close to the seafront. The accommodation itself was well presented and quiet. The view from the living room window is lovely as you can see the abbey and church. Everything was as described and the hosts were very responsive when I had questions. The parking scratch card ticket was easy to use and very helpful. I would stay here again.

Great location and view from the property, it was let down by the generally cleanliness of the apartment, with visible cobwebs, a good amount of dust and dirt.
With a deep clean and a little more thought for homeliness this would be a great stay and one that would bring us back.

Great location, super views and that’s where it stops. Faulty bathroom light intermittently turns on and off, thick dust and cobwebs on beams, VERY limited kitchen equipment, no toilet brush, stains on carpets, rugs and sofa needs a lick of paint to cover scuffs to make it look more appealing

Good location and clear check in instructions.
Annoying sliding bathroom door and auto bathroom light that kept turning on automatically through the night.
Living room on the cold side and bedroom hotter than the sun when you could get it to turn on.
oil the doors - they creak terribly but all teething problems I guess

Amazing views from the arched window with views of the abbey and all windows around the loft property were exceptional! Modern layout and furnishings and equipped with most things you would need for a break away. It is worth staying for views of the estuary, harbour and cliff tops and felt a real treat to be spoilt with that view.
Pillows/bedding could have been comfier and cosier furnishings and towels which I imagine over time the hosts would invest in. Mainly I think the whole apartment needs a regular dust and deep clean and invest in a guest Hoover as guests with dogs like to hoover up after themselves and every self catering property we have stayed at throughout the UK has always had a Hoover. Whoever is in charge of the amount of emails needs to reconsider the communications as I don’t want to be pestered as often as the emails came and just to emphasise we really enjoyed our hassle free beautiful view stay of the apartment, but again if the hosts read this, thorough and better cleaning needs to be implemented as your apartment isn’t being showcased to its absolute best!

Beautiful place, modern and beautiful views. The owners had done a very good job renovating, the style was modern but not boring.
There were a few area that weren't quite finished off which in such a beautiful place was a shame. Eg where the doors had been shaved the edge was still unfinished, pictures frames with no picture and marks on the walls. Generally it was very clean but cobwebs were starting to form on the beams and the bedside tablet was dusty. What did annoy me was all the emails with rules, it made me worry instead of being able to relax. I understand not everyone treats places with the respect they should but should everyone be punished? Also a lot of the automated email were badly timed and didn't make sense.

Great location. Quiet. Clean. Good communication. Parking tricky - permit provided for 'W' zones (this entitles overnight street parking and then up to 3hrs between 9am & 7pm. Ask for T&C's of insurance damage deposit prior to booking so you can read up. It takes 14 days after checkout before your money is refunded if you opt to pay the £250. (And there is a £10 admin fee which is non-refundable which all adds to the cost of the stay).

Really cracking little spot in a great location near central Whitby. Only a short walk to the harbour area. Some nice cafes for breakfast right at the door. The parking permits were a godsend with the heavily patrolled permit controlled street parking.
Was quite a lot of steps up to The Loft so wouldn’t be ideal for with mobility issues. All of which was stated in the listing.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

The location and views were excellent. We stayed for our wedding and it was a great base for everything we needed to do in Whitby. The place was well equipped and comfortable. There was a nice kitchen area with everything you need. They'd left 4 days of parking tickets out for us (which unfortunately we only spotted when leaving).
We got lots of automated emails about 'verifying our identity' which were a bit confusing (as we'd verified ourselves upon booking). We also got multiple emails about the check out process even a few days after leaving.

Nice place, location is perfect for being directly in Whitby. Not the places fault but at it is in the loft the seagulls are very loud throughout the night so might not be good for light sleepers! The property could be beautiful had it of been clean, it was absolutely filthy.
Hard to find in the dark, entrance hall filthy, big pile of junk outside the door, cream carpet in apartment filthy muddy foot prints, scuffs up the walls, what looked like urine stains on landing and all over the lounge rug, stains on the sofa, thick thick dust everywhere, dirty fridge, dirty oven, hob had dog hairs on it, cupboards covered in greasy finger prints, cobwebs stretching from beam to beam. cutlery kettle and microwave dirty. 2nd apartment -one the Hudson very similar although slightly cleaner but still lots of dirty finger prints on walls, filthy hallway, crumbs on floor tatty fixtures and fittings - dangerous shower no temperature control oh and a boiler that bangs all night and wakes you up even from the second bedroom !

A very well designed apartment with a spectacular view over Whitby and of the Abbey. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in. The navy walls in the bedroom were great for creating a cosy environment. One thing, however, was that the bathroom was at the end of the bed and the bathroom light was motion activated (which we couldn’t find anything to override!)… in the middle of the night, every night, multiple times the light would switch on, waking us up and making my partner paranoid that there were ghosts… the light also meant that when you were in the shower the light would switch off half way through as you are out of range of the motion sensor. The bathroom light really was the only problem we had!
Location was great and views from the window are some of the best anywhere in Whitby.

The Loft is in a good location in Whitby near to the harbour and with wonderful views of the Abbey from the window. Parking nearby is difficult though even with the residents parking permit provided it isn't usually possible to get a space in the streets covered by the permit nearby. We found John Street was the best bet but sometimes had to pay to park in a pay and display car park, again not that close to the apartment. The only niggles we had were that there were no coat hangers provided to hang your clothes on the rail in the bedroom, there is nowhere to hang your towel when your showering and the movement activated bathroom light keeps going off while you're in the shower requiring you to keep opening the door to switch the light back on. Also there is nowhere to hang your wet coats.
