Location was great
The nonsense catching us for extra insurance costs. Would have scored much higher if not for this. Just add £25.00 to the cost.

location was good right on heart of whitby, living room was cosy and kitchen was well equipped except fridge was a bit small for 4 people and freezer space was frozen and needed defrosting
Very poor customer services as had trouble with parking as someone was in space allocated for cottage all week and their solution was to put note on car with my number on which was not acceptable, Reading reviews this has happened before so something needs to be done about it. Also a blue van parked right outside front door on several occasions making access very difficult and also blocking front window to cottage. Pans in kitchen were dirty so had to clean them before use. Back garden tap did not work and also by back door was very mucky especially dirty old sink with weeds growing in it. There were not enough towels for 4 people

Fabulous cottages, but lots and lots of steps.
Extremely clean, very comfortable and warm. Very well equipped.
Brilliant location for Whitby centre.
The only thing that lets it down is the frontage and the reserved parking space (that was occupied during our 3 night stay). Parking at the top of the garden was easy to find and good access.

The location and overall facilities of the property.
The rain shower head is too large for the shower cubicle. Have to squeeze into the corner of the shower to wash hair or have to turn the shower off. The small shower head is grimy and needs replacing for health reasons, the shower tiles need the grout and silicone cleaning / replacing where not clean or have black mold.
Received an email for option of an early check in time, which was not honoured by Host & Stay even though email accepting my request for a specific time had been had been received. Turned up to find property not clean, then told by their customer service it was our fault for turning up early even though they had accepted the time.

Location is great, very near to shops, bars and restaurants. Cottage was very comfortable with 2 large bedrooms and good sized kitchen and lounge area. There is parking space at the rear of the property.
Bathroom smells of mould as the extractor is not powerful enough. Cooker hob, oven and toaster took an age to heat up so cooking wasn't really viable. The shower is difficult to operate and did not get hot, only achieved lukewarm with water on full blast. Cobwebs on stairs and in bathroom, everywhere needs a dust, but otherwise was clean.

Location excellent.
Parking a necessity so close to the town centre.
Nice enclosed garden for the dog.
Parking to the front of the property a shambles.
Another side table in the lounge would be useful.
Having the parking space at the back and the keypad at the front door doesn't make sense to me.

Super cosy, clean and comfortable. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and arcades etc
All good, would benefit from a washing machine and somewhere to hang washing to dry.

The location is superb and we were very glad to have parking .
The cottage was very nicely finished and very clean. The shower was superb.
It’s literally a five minute walk into town , but it was lovely and peaceful where we were.
The outdoor area is very nice - a little sun trap!
Very minor - only one hand towel for 4 people for 4 days - I would have happily bought my own had I known. Also , no tea towel. I did email host and stay but have received no reply .
Also a bit of an eggy smell with the drains, but no drama !

The location was excellent, the facilities and proximity of parking were great very comfortable cottage would book again.
The instructions for heating were not clear, although this shouldn’t have been needed in June but the bathroom was very cold. It took some trial and error to get the towel rail heated which then seemed to reduce the hot water. Difficulty finding the parking space as the directions were inaccurate. if we had been told it was left out of the street and at the rear of the cottage we’d have had no problem These are minor things which didn’t spoil our overall enjoyment of the property.

It was cosy with a lovely outdoor space and private parking . Walking distance into town and facilities.
The bathroom was really cold even in June and really needs an electric towel heater so towels will be dry to use.

A nice location, close to the centre of Whitby. Parking space around the back only fits one small car, and the 'reserved spot' at the front of the cottage was in-use (not the property's fault but as an FYI).
We were a party of four adults, a dog and a child and found the place a little too small. However, it would have been ideally for a couple.
The place itself was very clean.
It would have been nice if the check-in would have been a little more flexible - 4pm is a tad late IMO.
Thank you.

Great location. Parking at the back really handy.
The property itself was really nicely appointed. Large comfortable rooms. Very good kitchen with all the gadgets.
Much better than a hotel. Easier to sit and talk with others rather than being in a bar.
The management company were very good, and responded to queries very quickly.
The deposit arrangements are a bit messy. There's a small extra charge that isn't clear when booking. But it's a minor comment, nothing else.
I don't think the property would be suitable for those who can't get up stairs too easily, given it's on split levels.
Parking at the front wasn't really practical at all. The neighbours were having work done on the house and vans were parked at the front in the designated spot for the property. If you have two cars this would be a problem. It wasn't in our case.

Second time staying for us. Its great location, parking, and cosy place. Has everything you need 😁
It's more of a would be good to have two singles that can be put together for a double when required, rather than a double bed for the second bedroom.

At first I wasn't wowed with it but what a fantastic little cottage in a great location. The split levels take a bit of getting used to but this cottage is furnished to a very high standard
Parking is supposed to be reserved for use by this cottage but any Tom dick and Harry parks there

Very tastefully refurbed and re-decorated cottage, immaculately clean on arrival, well equipped kitchen and quiet location 5 mins walk from centre of town, private free parking close at back of cottage.
There were only two of us so good space for us
The accommodation was fine.
What I didn't like was the excessively detailed information required in advance, the over-long and repetitive welcoming emails I received 4 times! and also the compulsory insurance fee of £25 or the alternative option of a £250 deposit to be held for 2 weeks after departure. -all very irritatingly bureaucratic and in need of serious review.
Hire rate a bit steep for October we thought.

Great location, allocated parking space, bed was very comfortable
The first thing we noticed when entering the property was the smell of dog in the living room, think it may be related to the rug? No washing machine. Property is starting to look run down, carpet marked, living room rug looks grubby, bathroom floor tiles stained, some water damage to woodwork in the bathroom, could do with a freshen up & deep clean in places. Lots of wood lice in the bathroom, very off putting. Second allocated parking space to the front of the property was constantly occupied by neighbours, parking space at the rear was via lots of steps, which made things difficult with having a baby/pram when going between the car & property, would have been great to have the option to use the parking space at the front. No hand wash provided in kitchen/bathroom & only 2 toilet rolls. No room in any cupboards for food

Lovely cottage, nicely decorated, comfortable and in a great location in Whitby with a lovely little garden and off street parking
When we arrived the cottage hadn't been cleaned and had been forgotten about, it was sorted quickly however not ideal as we had a restaurant reservation we needed to get to, we were offered a small compensation which has still not been paid. Also the dedicated parking space outside the front of the house was almost always taken, however there was a space around the back so wasn't too big a problem.

Perfect location and lovely outdoor area. Comfortable beds and lovely the cosy fire in the lounge. Would highly recommend.
The insurance that you have to pay. I own an 8 sleeper barn conversion and would never expect my guests to pay it.
Also extremely inflexible about an early check in ie 2 hours before the normal 4pm check in time even though no prior guests checking out.
Also a small note - no washing up liquid provided ? Strange as a small ask

Great location, right in the centre of Whitby! Very close to the supermarket and two car parking spaces.
After booking, the company require you to pay £250 as a damage deposit, which you get back after your stay, however they charge a £10 admin fee. This was not made clear prior to booking.

The cottage was perfect for us. Comfortable beds, great kitchen facilities and having a bath and shower was a bonus for us with a 2 year old. Great location, close to the heart of Whitby too.
Loathed to mention as it was such a lovely cottage. But there was an unpleasant smell in the front room. Smelt like it could have been to the rug, maybe from a dog. Worth looking at for future reference.

lovely house and in a great location. well within walking distance to everything in whitby. Great that it comes with a parking space and was very easy to find. the house itself is really lovely, very clean, very comfy beds and plenty of towels. we had 2 dog with us and it was plenty comfortable with them in the house too. we had read reviews about the house next door being renovated and it being loud but we did not find this a problem, the lady came to check when we would be in/out for her to do work so we had no noise effect our stay.

Brilliant location right in the centre!
Lovely cottage, really pleasant and cosy decorations matching the seaside location.
I was quite disappointed however that after paying the cleaning fee the bedrooms were quite dusty and we spotted a few cobwebs throughout. Mould in the bathroom grouting. We would not have minded usually if it were not for the cleaning fee.
The garden definitely needs a spruce up now that it’s getting warmer. We sat out but noticed the plants were overflowing with water/dead. There was also a dead bird rotting away under the fence and some animal waste that we had to move which looked like it had been there a while.
Nevertheless the location was perfect with it being so close to the centre!

Very good spotlessly clean, well decorated good quality furniture and fittings, parking not as expected, but the whole stay was ruined by the neighbours hours of d.i.y building work,I made a complaint to host and stay but heard nothing. The previous renters of the property had the same problem very bad customer service. If we had been made aware we would have cancelled our booking, will never use this company again. VERY disappointed.

Our holiday was ruined by constant banging, very loud, from the property next door which was partially boarded up and clearly having a large amount of internal building work carried out. Noise went on until 11pm every night, we got no support from Host and Stay or the property owner who actually suggested I try to sort it out myself with the people making the noise as he lived a 2 hour drive away. A building planning application was later discovered on a lamppost at the rear of next door so the property owner being an immediate neighbour would have been advise of the work and should not have rented during this period in my view. We left and went home midweek as we couldn't stand the noise any longer. Other reviews around the date of our stay have experienced the same issue with noise.

We booked a 2 night stay for my Wife’s birthday..
The property was lovely and in a good location with parking for 2 cars, although somebody else was using one of the spaces at the front of the property.
On arrival at 16:30 there was a constant banging and scrapping coming from next door, this continued till 23:00. Communication with the the host was quick but not very helpful. The following morning the host actually told us to go around and sort it out with the neighbour directly, this was not something we felt comfortable doing. We contacted Air BnB and they were not very helpful either as they said they could not get hold of the host.
We also did not expect to see cobwebs in the kitchen when there is an additional charge cleaning charge of £60 on top of the price per night which I am assuming everybody has to pay.

Beautiful cottage. Very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Cosy and warm. The furnishings and decor are lovely and in keeping with the cottage feel. Excellent WI-FI. There is a small garden at the back of the property with seating. In better weather I would have taken the opportunity to make use of it.. There are 2 parking spaces. One at the back of the property and an allocated space at the front of the property. Someone had decided to park in the front parking space. It didn't affect me as I didn't drive here. Had I required the space I would have asked whoever parked there to move. So if both spaces were required there might be an issue. The location was excellent only a short walk into Whitby. A Co-op supermarket about 5 minutes walk . The railway and bus station about 4 minutes walk .
It would have been nice to have a sign to warn about a step in the bathroom. A curtain on the door leading from the kitchen to the garden would be nice. The security light kept coming on making one think that someone might be outside. Just a bit of a nuisance. I think it may have been adjusted so the light doesn't shine in one of the bedrooms. This was mentioned in an other review. I used the bedroom referred too, and I didn't notice it.

Lovely cottage clean and good location would stay again if issues with out door light sorted.
Smaller room had no curtains just a blind and was kept awake both nights by the very bright motion sensors light outside continuously going off and on so if you were about to go to sleep you were soon woken up by the light andthe noise from the boiler below was loud but may have been OK if not awake from the light. It needs looking at and certainly dark curtains putting up but even hanging my dressing gown over the blinds didn't stop it. So no sleep had. Which leads to not a good stay in relation to the sleep side .

The location was great, and it was nice to have a garden for the dogs (a bit chilly to sit out in January!).
Parking at the back was good, a lot of places don't have this.
We will definitely look to stay here again if the price is right.
We didn't even know we had a designated parking at the front of the cottage until a car moved late Saturday, and we saw the sign. Also, there was a large van parked right outside the front door when we arrived. Thankfully, that also moved on Saturday.
All the cupboards were full, so there was no space for food. Luckily, we were only there for 2 nights, but it would have been more of an issue if we had stayed for longer.
We have dogs, so it would have been nice if there were dog bowls.
The last two things are nice to have and not a complaint or grumble.

Unfortunately other then the location we didn’t get chance find out what we liked about this property as we weren’t there long enough.
Unfortunately the property wasn’t safe. We arrived at 4pm and were broken into at 4:30 in the morning by an intruder who had managed to get into the property without causing any damage. On inspection after this ordeal we found the French doors to the rear of the property to be unfit for purpose and even when locked they were able to be sprung open. There was one lock in the middle of the door that that could easily be moved and a broken bolt at the bottom of the door which was no use whatsoever. The intruder was able to enter the back garden with ease and then enter the property with ease which is totally unacceptable. The intruder should never have even been able to get on the premises never mind inside the property. Luckily no one was hurt. On reporting this to host and stay they told us they would see if they could get someone out today which was a Sunday to fix the doors to which we responded that was fine but we would not be staying here whether someone had fixed the doors or not. Further to this conversation we spoke to a lady called Sandy from host and stay who was the first person with any concern and the first person to ask if everyone was ok. She informed us that she would have to get in touch with the owner as we stated we would be expecting a full refund. Whilst on our way home David from host and stay phoned to inform us that the owner had a agreed to give us a full refund. Further to this conversation on the Sunday we had to email host and stay to see where our refund was as we still hadn’t received it to find out that the refund hadn’t even been processed which under the circumstances of the refund is disgusting. We have today finally received our refund after 9 days since the ordeal took place. We have been extremely disappointed from start to finish with the whole experience and it obviously spoilt what should have been a nice few days away in Whitby.

Location is brilliant, having parking spots in Whitby and a little courtyard garden was super convenient and a real plus. The fact there are two double bedrooms as well so another couple could have joined us and that it is dog friendly. The cottage is lovely and decorated so nicely, we liked that there have been some period features kept. It was very clean and the staff were very attentive when I asked questions. Great shower as well which is always a bonus when away!
There are a couple of minor things that let the cottage down and if they were sorted it would have been a 10/10 for us no question. There is a smell of drains in the bathroom as if there was an air gap somewhere, wasn’t unbearable but needs addressing. We felt the sofas could be improved to something a lot comfier, they were quite small and you couldn’t really snuggle up on them. Would be nice if the beds were be a bit bigger as well, the rooms seem to have the space for it.

We had a lovely stay at the spring cottage, the location is great and private car park to the back of property is a huge bonus. Lots of dog friendly walks on the doorstep, would recommend cinder track or an early morning walk up the 199 steps and along the coastal path.
The cottage itself has been beautifully refurbished and we had everything we needed. My only complaint is that the couches are a little uncomfortable for a rainy afternoon spent indoors.

Overall a lovely property to stay at. Location is fabulous, If you can get parking on the road outside the property and don't need to move your car all week it won't be an issue, we just found that some local residents would block our car in.

We had a Lovely 3 days in this lovely little house. Nicely decorated, very clean and new. Shame we couldn't sit outside in the garden with a glass of wine as the weather wasn't great for outdoor dining. Fab that we could park right outside the front door. The central location is amazing, great for walking back at night from the new cocktail bar .would love to stay again.

We had a really good holiday in Whitby and the cottage was lovely. It was really clean and recently refurbished. The location was perfect as it’s only a few minutes walk to the harbour. It will be even better when the parking space is available at the back of the property as we struggled at the front and used pay and display in the end. Although we did know this could be the case when booking. We would definitely return.
