Fabulous location just off the high street. Directly opposite the steam railway station. Well equipped. Nicely decorated. Very spacious.
Parking was limited. Can only park for an hour but the location more than made up for it.

The location was ideal for us as it is opposite the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as that was the main focus of our trip.
The accommodation was first class roomy. Very short walk to centre of town with plenty of shops for provisions. Added bonus many cakes in the shop below a must to try
Small issue insufficient lighting/mirror for men to shave in the bathroom
Seating not the most comfortable in the main room
Parking. There is no free parking for the property however there is public parking opposite the property only between 6pm and 8am 1 hour max during the day which is of little use to us.

We had a Self catering arrangement. There was a one-shot supply of resources for us to make a hot drink, on arrival.
There was a catastrophic breakdown in communication regarding our access to the dwelling. This could have easily been avoided by an EARLIER provision of the entry information. After digging through the paperwork, after a very long journey, speaking to a real person on the emergency number got us in. There was a lamentable level of cleaning of the kitchen dishes, the shower and the toilet. The description of the carparking situation is VERY misleading. For anyone with mobility issues, this property is totally unsuitable, because of the steep stairs and zero dedicated carparking, and extremely difficult road parking. On two days, I had to park 300-400 yards away, which involved a steep walk back to the car, from the house. I would not re-visit this dwelling based on the deep cleaning needed, and the misrepresentation of access and parking. I am holding Booking.com responsible for this, due to lack of quality control.

Spacious, had everything I needed. A stone throw away from the purpose of my visit. Handy to reach the high street and walking distance from everything.
Being picky - an oven glove in the kitchen and a pair of tongs would complete the lot!

Lovely place to stay.
Unfortunately the parking was not as described in the listing and we had to source paid parking options when we arrived. Not so easy when you are from outside of the UK and unsure of the rules. Took away from our time to enjoy the location as the host was unaware of the alternatives available to us.
However, it was a beautiful little apartment above an amazing little coffee shop 😍

Place is gorgeous. Lovely decor and furnishings. Excellent location.
Parking a bit of a pain and could real have done with being cleaner. Inside kitchen cupboards were dirty and the shower didn't even get used because it was filthy and definitely hadn't been cleaned after the last guests had left.

Easy to walk to town and train station across the road. Lovely tea rooms below. Accommodation was very tasteful.
The slats on our bed had fallen out. It took 3 days and 5 calls to get someone to fix it. Parking outside is only for 1 hour and no return for 2 hours. There is pay as you go near by about £6 - £7 a day. The shower drain was blocked. I had to prod it with a stick. I hadn't taken my rubber gloves to clean it properly. The property on the whole was good. Without these issues it would have been great.

A comfortable and clean first floor appartment in Pickering with a roof top patio. A good central position to visit surrounding areas and attractions. The Bakery below being an added advantage selling delicious bread, cakes and light meals; also right opposite the steam railway so you can pop across to see the trains. Highly recommended.

Great apartment and well placed for visiting various places around North Yorkshire. The steam railway is literally across the road and having a tea shop below was a little too convenient !!! The people were very friendly and if you like fish and chips you will be in heaven.
A couple of things I would say is that on the Host and Stay website it states that there was is a dryer which there wasn't, (but would have been handy to dry our clothes after a downpour), and also free parking on site. This was a bit misleading. There is on street parking across the road which you can park all night (6pm to 8am), then its 1 hour after that with no return for 2 hours. We ended up parking up by the castle a little walk away, which wasn't an issue.

Accomodation itself was fantastic and location was great. Word of advice - to read the small print before booking. It is at my fault that I missed the details but it did surprise us as being unusual for an Airbnb booking. Accomodation is listed with free parking but this is only overnight and the car needs to be moved between day time hours. Also there are additional charges associated with insurance above the listed price of accomodation. This is not typical of an Airbnb and surprised me when we arrived we had not paid the insurance and subsequently had not received the address nor check-in location.
Would book again, but recommend the listing is improved to make these facts more evident.

It was lovely and clean. Spacious for two with a comfy bed. Really nice terrace to sit on as well. Within v

The terrace was very open for the next doors builders and the cafe customers to see. Some sort of screening would be good

The accomodation was on the 1st floor above a lovely bakery, opposite Pickering train station (heritage line), it was super clean and had a fabulous dining kitchen, cosy living room and bedroom in the loft. All rooms furnished to a high standard and plenty of room for a couple. We really enjoyed our stay.
The only negative was no parking, we were aware of this before booking but this is all I can think of that would have made the accomodation better.

Everything . We spent a very comfortable Christmas and New Year . Loved the location and the staff in the cafe were very kind The central heating was excellent and there was plenty of hot water.
The information about parking was misleading . We did manage to park but mainly because the wardens were enjoying a Christmas break . If you are young and fit parking at the castle is fine but not for two in their 80s with a few aches and pains as it was a steep climb .
The dishwasher worked overtime as the property needs more crockery and cutlery and this can easily be achieved

Location was spot on for town centre, pubs & restaurants.
Property was comfortable & spacious.
Staff in bakery below were very helpful with the heating on the Monday, when they reopened for business.
Found free parking a 5 minute walk away in the Methodist church.
The patio area could do with a good clean & weeding, it’s a lovely space so it could be made to look so much nicer!
The heating system is on a timer, which wasn’t accessible unless bakery below open. It was exceptionally cold when we stayed, so being able to control the heating ourselves would have been beneficial.
Note to future travellers - Parking bays opposite property are for 1 hr only however free parking at Methodist church, a short walk away.

Really lovely couple of nights. Bed is really comfy and plenty of space in the apartment. Imagine the outside space is lovely in the summer. Easy to get out to the coast.
Parking is a bit of a pain but had no issues just had to move it or be out before 9am and I ended up paying for long stay on my 2nd day and as others have said can really hear the tea rooms below, wasn’t an issue for me however.
My only feedback is the check in and out times which are later/earlier than most air bnb’s I’ve stayed in. Would have loved not to have rushed around for 10am check out.

Position decor and cleanliness
Really liked everything. The only problem is if you have mobility problems there are stairs to apartment and stairs to the bedroom .
You have to park away from the property but we were able to park a short walk away
My main dislike is the mess around with the insurance you have to pay to stay there. You either pay £25 and no comeback or leave a £250 deposit with them and they then charge you £10 to get the £250 back. They request it two weeks before you arrive and give it back up to ten days after you leave, bizarre!!

The seating was comfortable
No hooks on back of bathroom door, no shelf for toiletries. The dirty shower at the bottom of the doors, no plug for the bath, hand held shower squirted water from out the joint. The refrigerator freezer compartment was solid with ice due to a large bag of ice cubes being left in, stopping the door from closing with the build up of ice therefore not working efficiently. Not all Freeview channels were available on the TV although it was a good one

The property was lovely, spacious, modern and airy. It was above a Tea Shop and the entrance was through the shops’s main door. The large double bedroom was in the converted attic, difficult height for my 6’4” partner. The bathroom was down the stairs onto the first floor, hard to find in the dark in a strange place! The sitting room, with comfy sofa and large TV, overlooked the NYMR. The kitchen was equipped with everything one could want but, for those only staying a couple of nights and eating out, it could’ve done with some washing up liquid rather than needing to use the dishwasher (we didn’t). The kitchen led on to a dining room and a patio, both very nice, unfortunately because of the weather, we couldn’t sit out on the patio.
Prior to the stay I asked the host company if there was a hairdryer available, they said there wasn’t, so I took my own, NB there is a great full size hairdryer in the left hand dressing table drawer!
The property is very central in Pickering right opposite the NYMR, there’s a Chinese restaurant a few doors down the road, don’t let the outside appearance put you off, the food is fantastic and the service excellent. There are quite a few restaurants, pubs and cafes within walking distance.
There’s parking outside for one hour, great for loading and unloading, we were advised that there was free parking at Pickering Castle but when we went up there the gates were closed and locked, luckily there is ample free on road parking near it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pickering at Sleepers @ No8 and it was great value for money, thank you.
The windows in the lounge and the velux windows in the dining room desperately need cleaning (algae on the velux).
In total I had 18 different emails from host and stay and two from Booking.com plus several texts, many of them saying the same thing ie your checkout time tomorrow is 10:00 am. The payment was split into strange sums with receipts sent separately.
However, I was very unhappy to learn about the £250 insurance premium I had to pay before the stay. Booking.com did not advertise this, I had paid the fee and was directed through to the Host and Stay site before I was made aware of this. There was a choice of paying £250 which is refundable or paying £25 for separate insurance which is not refundable. I reluctantly chose the £250 but discovered that they then had the audacity to charge me the £10 administration fee so that my £250 was refunded!
These fees should be discoverable at the outset of the booking rather than hidden in amongst!

I have booked with Booking.com scores of times and this is one of the best places I have stayed in. It's spacious, really well decorated and well positioned in town.
I found parking was acceptable and the position over the bakery not to be a problem.
Minor issue - More cutlery, bowls etc should be provided as the lack of them reduces the benefit of having a dishwasher.
Major issue - I objected when I was told, after booking, that £10 of the deposit would be retained as an "admin fee". Despite multiple emails to Host and Stay saying that this was contrary to the statements on the Booking.com site, it was only when I got Booking.com involved that they agreed to refund the admin fee. However they seemed to "forget" that promise until I chased them multiple times on my return.
I hope the hosts do listen because for the sake of £10 or a clearer description re the admin fee, I, for one, would love to stay here again. If the £10 had been added to the price upfront I would gladly have paid it.

Rooflight windows could do with a clean. A few more plates bowls, mugs and cutlery would have saved us washing up quite so often.

The property was spacious and comfortable -the sitting room was particularly cosy with a great sofa.
The location was great for walking to the local shops and restaurants.
I did not like the booking process with Host and Stay. Numerous emails and a hefty damage deposit of £250.
Check out was tricky due to the position above the bakery/cafe. When we were trying to check out there was a queue of people in the door way as well as a delivery person in and out of the same doorway.
Parking is not as easy as the information makes out.

Comfortable bed, living room and bathroom and excellent location being above a fabulous tearoom with an amazing view of the train station.
Patio area was off-putting because it was full of weeds, needed painting, fence needed changing and slabs were unsafe and nearly caused an accident when stood on to move around the table and unsafe. The table outside also had big chip out of it. Inside the velux windows needed opening enabling cleaners to tilt it round and clean so that future guests can look up into clean windows. Bath with shower was lovely but shower hose is broken and when hot water tirned on it leaked nearly burning my hand. In the kitchen oven gloves are required and the large oven didn't work. Also cutlery and crockery need to be checked as although only for two people, four of everything would mean that the dishwasher could be used more economically.

Fantastic location and plenty of space in the apartment.
Nothing at all in relation to the property, even the parking wasn’t an issue. Didn’t really agree with the whole deposit set up and the £10 charge for setting it up. The property price was very reasonable so just add it to the price instead.

I thought the apartment was beautiful and decorated to a high standard. It was both modern but cosy. It had everything I needed for my stay and the location was perfect.
This is just to my taste but I did not find the sofa comfortable at all to sit on, it gave me and my boyfriend a bad back. That was the only negative thing about the apartment. I did also feel like the hosts were in too much contact with me throughout my stay, I was only there two nights I was getting emails and texts throughout my stay and I was perfectly aware of my check out date and time so I didn’t need informing multiple times.

Nice location to visit the NY Moors. Accomodation was pretty much as expected from website details.
Pickering itself was very quiet in the evening. Restricted opening times for pubs and eateries. Perhaps the cost of living / weather was having an impact. The same week (last in April) last year in Thornton Le Dale was very active in the evening.

So much space for two people! Loved the terrace which overlooks the tea room terrace but still felt private. Enjoyed being able to order from the tea room via their terrace door and still sit up there in the sunshine. Loved the roll-top bath, the sound and sight of the steam trains outside the window the comfy couch to watch evening TV from.
Only 'staff' contact was remote via booking.com app and not local at all, but they checked we were settled and happy at beginning and end of stay and available to act if necessary.
I personally didn't like the step down into the lounge as despite a big sign on the door to the room I still forgot and miss-stepped a couple of times. Also having to go downstairs to the toilet in the middle of the night wasn't great but we knew that when we booked. It's a quirkly arranged appartment, and really nicely fitted out.

Immaculately clean, bed was extremely comfy, decor was modern, had everything you needed, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Nice little guide with excursion leaflets and handy info about the local area. Lovely outdoor that opened up at the back, good for summer months to sit out and eat breakfast, fairly private. Friendly tea room below that did gorgeous pastries, must try! Really good location with lots of amenities, restaurants and pubs nearby. Can't really fault it.
Parking, had to move the car on a morning before as its a no return location before 6pm & after 8am so at 9am we moved the car to the cat park down the road but it wasn't too bad, we were out most of the days so wasn't too bad, just parked back up at 5pm. I suspect during busier periods the parking outside the property may be a little less available

Lovely place, above a wonderful tea shop, whose staff were really friendly (the apartment belongs to the shop). Great location but limited long stay daytime parking. Can park on street up the road, 5 min walk.
Host and Stay were an absolute nightmare from the point of booking onwards. Bombarded with emails and booking.com messages including all through the night until we complained. Either pay Host and Stay £250 damage deposit and get £240 back (after your stay) or £20 nonrefundable damage deposit. Not good that booking.com now facilitating hidden costs after booking, never had that before. Host and Stay rather spoiled what was otherwise a great trip.

The apartment was in a central location and very nicely decorated. Communication from the host was excellent and responded promptly. The pictures are exactly what you find, however the apartment does seem slightly smaller.
However, pans, cutlery and crockery were unclean and therefore we had to wash prior to using. Tea, coffee and sugar was provided and kept in jars unfortunately we found each to be stale and not fresh. I also would have expected for the cost to have perhaps some milk in a small welcome box as a gesture of goodwill.
We also had an issue with the oven turning on by itself - through loose switches - and we did not realise until we smelt something burning during the evening which was worrying. We have advised the host to get this sorted as it could have caused a fire very easily.

Location was very good and the facilities and size of the property surprisingly large with a lovely kitchen diner. The bathroom was excellent. The large bedroom at the top of the property was really large and warm.
A better description on the parking restrictions, it is highly likely you need to pay for parking in the Long stay car park around 400m away as the parking outside the property is time limited, there are traffic wardens patrolling. The sheer volume of emails and messages from the hosts confirming the booking, the time of arrival, the reminder to depart was annoying. We must have received around 20 messages from the hosts in 3 or 4 days. We know what we booked and where we are going and when we are departing.

The property was beautifully decorated with lots of space. Great location. We had no trouble with parking outside when unloading and loading the car and had no problem parking round the corner.
The only fault if you can call it that with the property was that the fridge needed to be defrosted (the freezer compartment was heavily iced up and caused it to drip in the fridge.

This place is a bit deceptive. It is an apartment above the Bootham Tea Rooms and cafe/bakery located directly opposite the North Yorkshire Moors railway station in Pickering. It does not look very large from the outside, BUT, the location is brilliant. A very short walk to the center of town with restaurants, supermarkets and shops. After negotiating the narrow stairs (may be an issue for those with impaired mobility) the apartment is very surprising. IT IS HUGE. Simply put, we were gob smacked at the size and levels of facilities. 4 large separate rooms. big living area, large kitchen diner, big bedroom and an outside rooftop deck with very friendly neighbors cat. All in all a very surprising and pleasant place to stay. The cafe/bakery/tea rooms downstairs is brilliant. Close to many great placxes to see including The Moors, Eden Camp, The Wolds, Whitby.
NOT A FAULT OF THE ACCOMODATION PROVIDER: Due to the layout of town, there is limited parking near the apartment. opposite the venue is 2 hr parking but is rare to find a spot. Street parking is available in Castlegate which is above and behind the apartment, up some steps which may challenge the less mobile.

Property was lovely and well situated.
We were telephoned to tell us we could not go to the property until 4pm (an hour after check-in time) due to the property being cleaned. Unfortunately the property was dirty in the most important of places, kitchen sink, around bathroom taps and shower cubicle, extractor fan in bathroom thick with dust so has not been cleaned for some time, none of the carpeted areas had been hoovered either so not a good first impression going up the stairs to the property, dusting was minimal (only parts of furniture).
We are charge £50 for the cleaning it seems this is extortionate for the 1 bed to be changed!

Excellent location. Lovely to be able to open patio doors at the rear of the property (during the recent hot spell). Well appointed, clean and fresh throughout.
No on-site parking but I never had any problems finding on-street parking near the castle.

excellent location. Lovely terrace at the back.
It was good that owner/ host had instructions on using the property’s microwave
As I could open the sitting room window, I did not use that room.

Fantastic property, with a brilliant layout and outside space. The location was ideal for Pickering and for exploring the local area. The bed was incredibly comfortable as was all the living spaces. A well equipped property. Will definitely visit again.

The location is great and even though you have to move the car regularly to avoid parking fines, this is honestly not a problem. The apartment itself is beautifully furnished - really stylish. And the tea room downstairs is lovely and so are the ladies who run it.
There are a couple of big things which need attention - the bathroom door does not shut - this is not a quirk it is very bad finishing. The door itself is at least an inch too wide at the bottom and does not fit in the frame at all. It actually swings open unless you put a brick from the terrace in front of it. Even then, there is a wide air gap around it and no privacy - and the kitchen is right by the bathroom with no door of its own. This must be attended to.
And secondly, the sash window in the TV lounge has been painted shut - there is no possibility of opening it - it needs proper attention from a workman. The way the apartment is laid out, this means that there is no airflow into that room (exacerbated by the fact that the velux window in the bathroom cannot be opened - if it could this would be the nearest 'draught' to the TV room). Even if we had not been there in the hottest week ever the lack of airflow would still be an issue.
And as an aside, if I owned an apartment that had been so lovingly decorated and styled (and it really is lovely) I would have paid more attention to the kitchen equipment - no oven gloves, no chopping board, and the cheapest cutlery from eg Poundland - if the owner spent just a weekend in the flat themselves, they would have known these things....
And there is one thing that the owner can do nothing about and which may be an issue for some - it certainly woke me up most days. Just up the road is a quarry and from early each morning - a couple of times it was just after 6am - the aggregate tipper trunks start proceeding right under the bedroom window to collect stone, and then return back down the road. Sometimes there would be just a couple of trunks, other days 6 or so..... If you have the windows open, its incredibly loud....

Had a great stay, a great place to explore North Yorkshire. Property has everything you need and is well finished. Steam train to Whitby was worth it, Whitby a great fishing port. I would recommend Robin Hoods Bay, Helmsley and Thornton Le Dale. There is plenty of choice for places to eat in Pickering i would recommend booking the Italian. There is free on road parking up by the castle.

The location for this propeorty is brilliant for those looking to explore pickering and access the railway. The coffee shop downstairs offers delicious food and and the place itself was modernly decorated, clean and with everything you could need.
The only down side is the parking, there is no guaranteed parking nearby and to get the free parking, your vehicle is out of view and a walk away.

Lovely quaint property but the cleaning needs to be drastically improved especially as there is a £50 charge. The location is very good in a lovely market town.

Wonderfully designed and tasteful accommodation, with an exceptionally comfortable bedroom and everything you really need really for a truly restful break.
We loved the way the space was designed to allow for separation of the living room (equipped with an impressive fancy modern tv) from the expansive dining space, which also allowed access to an outside terrace garden.
We also loved the way that Pickering is really well situated; to explore Hemsley to the East or Robin Hood's Bay to the West.
Don't be put off by the fact that this property is found above a working tea-room, as this charming café can help supply you with delectable baking goods, fresh breads or indeed that essential chutney to accompany the Yorkshire cheese you know you shouldn't have bought but can't say no to...
Anyhow. Great place. Book it if you get the chance!

Great place to stay - felt like home from home. Very comfortable and clean and had everything you need.
Great location, parking outside restricted to 1hr but we managed to get a spot for unloading/loading the car. Otherwise you can park up by the castle without any restriction which is only a short walk away.
Lovely bakery downstairs which we really recommend! Close to pubs, restaurants and supermarkets.

Lovely space, beautifully styled and very comfortable. Clean throughout and great outdoor space too. Everything you need included!
Pub next door played loud drum and bass music late at night which wasn't ideal but all good apart from that!

The place was lovely and in a great location for dining out and exploring pickering. Great supermarkets nearby for picking up essentials but the place came with toiletries, cooking facilities and clean cutlery. The big bath also made for a great relaxing experience. We would Definitley stay again!
We could not shut and lock the bathroom door due to it jamming which could be fixed. This venue also wouldn't suit those with mobility issues or prams as there were lots of stairs. We got lucky with parking but this was limited and was not guaranteed which could be an issue in summer during the busy periods.

A beautiful apartment in a great location! It is very spacious but still manages to have a cosy feel, with a variety of amenities (the gorgeous bath was a bonus)! The apartment was very clean and we loved the style of the rooms. We were also lucky enough to be able to sit out and enjoy the patio area. There are also many shops, restaurants and takeaways within walking distance.
Parking can be tricky but we managed to find a spot on the street outside on both nights (however you can only leave your car between 6pm and 8am). We had to move it to a nearby short-stay car park in the morning if we were not yet ready to leave.
Overall we have loved our stay here and we will definitely be returning if we are ever in the area - thank you!

Really beautiful and comfortable property in the heart of Pickering. Really
Comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen (coffee machine was great), Smart TV and a great base to explore Pickering itself.
The listing advises on street parking is available, which it is, but you can only park up to an hour (2 hours no return) between 8am-6pm. We found alternative arrangements for parking away from the property for £5 a day (Pickering trout lake car park)

Just come back from a weekend stay here, what a beautiful property, exactly as the pics show. Perfect location in a quaint little village. I would come back without a doubt, if I ever needed to be in the area again I’d stay here.

The Apartment is spotless and beautifully designed and decorated. . It’s in the centre of Pickering so an ideal location to use as a base. Pickering is a nice town with some nice shops. Train station is across from the apartment so worth taking a trip to the moors or Whitby. I would given 5* as the apartment is 5* but the parking is an issue. Parking at the Apartment is on street parking with a 1 hour limit between the hours of 8 and 6. So you have to find somewhere else to Park which is a pain if you are looking for a later start in the morning . Yes there is free parking near the castle and a couple of places you can pay all day parking.

Exceptionally clean, stylish and well presented but still in keeping with the old building and with a modern edge. Right in the centre of Pickering, close to ships, bars, restaurants and only 35 mins from the coast
Not alot it was a really lovely find, free parking restricted to 6pm - 8am then only for 1 hr outside of those times but you can park all the time for free on Potters Hill 5 mins away. The shop/cafe below creates a little chatter/sliding door noise daytime only and as bedroom on the top floor no sleep disturbance.

Absolutely beautiful apartment right in the centre of Pickering. The decor/ furnishings throughout looked great, nice size living room with tv, a big bathroom with a shower and a huge bath, well stocked kitchen with everything you needed plus a coffee machine, great dining space leading out to a terrace and gorgeous bedroom upstairs. We managed to park on the street just infront of the apartment for free for the whole weekend. Plenty of local pubs, a big co op, takeaways (we had a chinese which was lovely), shops, costa etc, just opposite the steam train station. Plenty of nice walks and a 30 min drive to Whitby. We had an absolutely fabulous weekend, the team were really responsive and we would recommend to anyone. The only bad thing was that it had to end! thanks so much, we can't wait to visit again.
