Great location.
Little touches were fantastic.
Christmas decorations were an added bonus.
Very comfy beds and stunning apartment.
The apartment requires a deep clean, hairs in the bath, dust and dirt on floor.
Front door could do with an oil - very squeaky.
Advertised as Sky TV, but didn’t work, only had 1-5 channels, kept requesting the Sky card.
One toilet roll was disappointing.

We have stayed various apartments during our visits over the years, but this was, first time in seal watch, we found it modern, spacious, mattress and pillows were great. Parking is easy , view is great from apartment. What more do you need for a long weekend, will book again for sure.
Hot water was not on upon arrival, and there was no big drama as there was a shower, but if it has a bath, then hot water is a bonus to fill it. Went and bought a set of Allan keys to tighten Double bed frame as it was quite loose, rendering the bed very noisy. Again, no big drama, just a small thing that could have been sorted before arrival

Great location with parking which is a rare thing in Whitby. Not too long to walk into town but nice and quiet. Great views over the river and the steam train too!
Clean new towels, bed linen. Nice and secure.
Dusting could have been better, thick on night stand lamp base. Too many ornaments in the bathroom meant hard to put out our stuff, not needed really.
Black mold on tiles in bathroom which should be tackled.
Not enough hot water for 2 bed ( 4 people) flat, and the shower leaked.
Main bedroom, the bed was V creaky and loud because of it - rolling over woke each other up.
Key safe could do with marking which one it is there are several with no markings, which if we arrived in the dark would have proved impossible to work out and resulted in a call...

I am very unhappy with our stay at Seal Watch Apartment, considering how expensive stay is here. The Shower wouldn't work- I messaged the Air B&B host- this wasn't responded to. I'm unsure if this was a mistake. Instead , we washed in the Bath. After this I walked around the apartment & my feet soon became black underneath with dirt. I can only assume that floors are not mopped down. I tried to put a lamp on in the 2 singles bedroom & this didn't work, so I had to plug a lamp in from the main bedroom. When I moved the bed to unplug the non-working lamp there were tissues & dirt under the bed. In the kitchen none of the plug sockets worked. We tested this to see if it was just the appliances, but when we plugged the kettle into the plug socket in the hallway, it worked! We had to use this socket as a workaround for the toaster & kettle for the entire stay. Also the extractor fan in the kitchen didn't work. I sent a message to the host but maintenance did not come before our departure.

The apartment block was really quiet and well maintained. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was a perfect location, with a great view of the river Esk. And a short walk to the centre of Whitby. Lots of things to do, and places to eat and drink. Would definitely recommend.

Nice location, spacious and good beds. Handy for parking. Very nice.
Could do with better kitchen ware. Pans were tired. What we didn’t realise when we booked was that there was an additional damage deposit to pay. This is fine except they take a £10 administration fee. We understand that they need a damage deposit but it should be included in the original booking costs. Apart from that, it was very good.

Location, lovely views.
Double bed mattress doesn't fit the size of the bed frame, too small.
Too many messages from the holiday agency, lots of reminders about leaving, with threatening fines if you leave late.
£250 damage deposit taken a week before arriving. Waiting for it to be returned.

Secure parking - excellent, and a short walk to the town centre and attractions. Very quiet. Biscuits, tea, coffee, sweets, crisps on arrival. Lovely hot water for a deep bath after walking up and down those 199 steps and streets. Nice to watch the birds, and possibly a seal, in the morning. Excellent communications from the hosting firm.
We only stayed two nights, so one toilet roll was fine for the 4 of us, maybe another would have been put out if we'd stayed for longer?

Fantastic location, great views. Nice and clean. Lovely deep bath. Well equiped kitchen (could do with tongs and microwavable jug)

We really enjoyed our stay at Seal Watch… it definitely lived up to it’s name, as on the morning of us checking out 2 seals 🦭 appeared outside our window, scouting for a meal 🐟
We learned 2 new bird species, Redshanks and Turnstones, right on the jetty outside the apartment!
The hosts were very responsive with anything that was asked of, a xmas tree and decorations was a lovely surprise, plus music and goodies!
We enjoyed the 10 min walk into town, with plenty to see and do, even joined in the Boxing Day Dip 🥶 not to be missed traditional spectacle, and atmosphere!

Location was good, parking was very handy.
Host and Stay are difficult to deal with, way too many emails. After you pay they force you to take out and additional insurance policy (why not include that in the price) or freeze money in your account. Thier system made it very difficult to take out the policy multiple attempts and messages to Host and Stay.

Perfect location, lovely views, nice walk into the centre of Whitby
Apartment itself as described ,nicely decorated, comfortable furnishings.
Kitchen well equipped.
Noted a small tear in a dining chair on arrival, would have been good to be made aware of this prior as think we would have been blamed for it and lost the damage deposit we had paid otherwise.
Main bedroom was nice but lots of dust and fluff under the bed despite it being a metal frame and easy to clean under.
Asked the host re replacing feather pillows and was advised they would ask the team to deal with it- no further contact from anyone following this which was disappointing.
Damp smell in the second bedroom throughout our stay. Also one of the clean towels that had been left in that room was dirty and smelly.
Bathroom had lots of mould on the ceiling, walls and floor.Extractor fan did nothing and heater dirty.Shower screen non functioning.
Window in living area opened by itself, had to do makeshift repair to close

The location was great and the free parking an asset. The apartment is quiet and out of the way of the rowdy pubs further in town! Great view over the river too.

The apartment was like a home from home, very comfortable and well kept. Location was ideal.
As we were 2 couples who travelled separately, only having 1 car parking space at the property was not ideal. We had to park our 2nd car about 1 mile away to get reasonable car parking charges for our 4 night stay.

The flat was perfect for our needs - clean, comfy, with two bedrooms, nice sitting room and kitchen, in a great location, right on the river. It was about 10 min walk from the middle. We would definitely go back. Thanks very much.
The only down side was getting the keys on arrival - it was extremely tricky! There were 5 lock boxes by the front door, none were numbered with the flat number, and we had been given the wrong code. Not what you need at 11pm. It felt like an escape room! Very stressful start.
After 10 mins of trying every lock box repeatedly, we rang the emergency number. The woman on the phone was very helpful and got us in.

Lovely location. Parking space was a huge bonus.
Bathroom needs some work. Shower head would not stay up making it difficult to use. Would benefit from a handrail for senior guests like ourselves. Tiles could do with regrouting in places.

The apartment was comfortable and just what we wanted. Good views of the tidal river and the North Yorks Moor Railway across the river. We could watch the steam trains during the day. Also there was secure parking and a level walk into Whitby Town Centre.
The lock box was not easily identifiable from the other four adjacent to it. We found some sand on the floor next to the bedroom dressing table. Also a couple of the kitchen cupboard doors needed a better clean.
Karen

Great location with parking is a winner 🏆 well equipped kitchen.
Only a little thing but when we arrived there was a black bag of rubbish by the door so we thought the cleaning people were still there so we went for a walk. When we came back it was still there so I knocked on the door and went in as it was unlocked but nobody was there.
Also there was a note on the living room window saying not to open as very stiff and we could have done with some fresh air in the evening.
Other than that, it was lovely and wouldn't stop us staying here again.

Private and secure parking
Fairly quiet and secluded
Having access to a washing machine was a bonus
Heaters worked well for drying washing
Spacious
Lots of room to store your belongings
Flat felt claustrophobic
Windows were difficult to open and close which added to the claustrophobia effect (hence, no fresh air in flat)
Advised not Tom open the main living room window at all
Nowhere in the literature did it say that we would be 3 floors up which was difficult with our dog to get him to the loo!
Flat was a bit grubby and dusty (some kitchen utensils had to be washed before use)
Sky TV worked very intermittently, not good reception, couldn’t really watch tv at all
Shower screen did not stop water from going onto bathroom floor as the shower head would not lock in position
Didn’t like the signing in to the ‘big brother’ iPad on arrival
Got very fed up of all the emails that were sent prior to our holiday (must have been about 25 until we phoned and asked for them to stop!) Host and Stay made themselves a nuisance
Instructions not clear on where to park and which security box to use to access the key to the flat (not labelled)
Too much reliance probably on the 85 page guide book to be accessed through a smart phone which we don’t have (most of the content was unnecessary pictures anyway)
No separate internal recycling boxes
Floor a bit slippy for the dog (he had to be careful when moving around)
Lack of a nonstick frying pan
Lack of hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes/towels
Heated towel rail was too small for two bath towels
Towel arrangements not good (two large bath towels provided and one stained hand towel which we didn’t use)
Fitted sheet and mattress protector too small for bed (uncomfortable)
Bed soft and unsupportive as mattress was worn out, misshapen and stained!
View from the third floor bedroom and living room was of a large car park with ‘goings on’ some nights, involving police vans etc! Not the pretty boat scene and the quay side as in the advert for the property
Not the sort of accommodation that we’d stay in again nor recommend
All in all, not good value for money (£1200 + paid for 10 nights

Nothing to dislike

Great location. The apartment was comfortable, had most things we needed. Secure parking underground a bonus as limited parking in Whitby. Bed very comfortable & super clean. Bathroom acceptable. Kitchen well supplied & clean.
There was no toilet paper supplied. There were crumbs all over the floor underneath the dining room table. the whole apartment needed to be dusted. Not impressed about having to pay a non refundable security bond. We were travelling from Australia and the only viable option we had was to pay an extra $50.00.

Location is incredible, secure parking below the property, wonderful views, including the river directly below, steam trains passing opposite.
Great facilities in the apartment, wonderfully comfortable bed. Care/welcome package was extravagant and very welcome.
It's only minor, no really a gripe, but some apartments we've stayed in provided milk for a welcome cuppa on arrival.
Other than that, hard to suggest anything to improve on!

Free parking. Easy access to town centre. Quiet location. Spacious apartment. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolate. Dog friendly. Host and Stay offered to come and look at TV problems . Good position by the river to watch the world go by. Well lit riverside walkway so felt safe for late night dog walk.
Lipstick on cutlery. Heater not working in lounge. TV kept pixelating and was unwatchable at times. Write up didn't say it was a third floor apartment. Windows didn't open. Bathroom a little grubby, bits of mould and rust and shower head kept slipping down. Too many emails in run up to stay. Host and Stay actually took/debited damage deposit of £250 (rather than holding as a pending payment) and charged £10 admin fee

The location was excellent. We were left chocolate, biscuits, coffee, tea and crisps which was a nice touch.j
We have stayed at other flats in Whitehall landing where we could arrive at 3pm and check out at 11 am. In this flat we missed almost a full day if accommodation by not being able to check in until 4pm and having to leave at 10am. Had this been a large property cleaned to a high standard, I would have understood. HOWEVER, the apartment had not been cleaned properly. The shower and bath tiles were dirty. There was dust everywhere. The oven contained spills from the previous occupants curry and under the beds was simply dirty. In addition we were asked to strip our own beds and do the cleaners job for them. If the cleaners are not going to clean I am perplexed at having to give them 6 hours to do so.

Facilities were clean. Attention to detail.
Some blood on one of the single sheets, daughter slept in one of the throws. Only 1x toilet rolls, felt that should have been better stocked.
TV lost reception and some of the channels. Double mattress was far too soft but that's personal preference. Did not like the amount of emails from after booking, 12 X emails is a bit excessive for a two night stay.

Location, parking, apartment
No central heating so apartment was cold, took a long time for electric heaters to warm up the room. Most windows didn't open, no dressing table in either bedroom. A TV in both bedrooms would have been better.

Lovely apartment, really convenient for walking into Whitby, with lovely views across the harbour.
Clean, modern and well equipped with everything we needed, even a little basket of goodies to enjoy during our stay which was a nice touch.
Easy to access and find and the secure parking is a bonus.

Nice and clean, comfortable beds, good location
Shower could be improved as not much more than a hand held hose. Also it would be useful to know which keysafe on arrival, I had to try a couple before finding appropriate one.

Excellent location with just a short stroll passed the harbour into Whitby Town Centre. There was secure underground parking at the apartment so we didn't have the stress of trying to find a parking space or change to pay for parking. The apartment was on the top floor accessible by using the lift or the staircase, it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay, it was in a quiet location away from the main road and overlooked the river. There were also some treats left for us which was a really nice touch. We would highly recommend this apartment and will definitely stay there again.
There was nothing we didn't like about the apartment or its location.

Whitby.
Stain outside front door of apartment.
Sticking windows.
No toiletries or spare toilet paper.
Clothes left by previous occupant.
Poor quality shower and leaking shower screen.
Far too many emails before and during stay.
Inappropriate use of my surname, as in "Hello Everett"
Bent keys, locks need oiling.

Convenient for town and parking' comfy beds and sofa and tv options.
Water was boiling hot. Shower one of the worst. Water seeps through onto floor. Air outlet in bathroom clogged up, needs to be cleaned. Host & Stay bug you by email , no need for so many emails.

Pretty view from the master bedroom and lounge. Kitchen was relatively well equipped but the kitchenware wasn’t as clean as we would have liked it and neither were the beds. We got a message saying the hosts wish to establish themselves as a brand for luxury holiday rentals - on that note we found it a bit strange to be asked to strip the beds ourselves at a rate of over £250 per night. That did not feel very luxurious plus it is sad to see that previous reviews seem to have gone unheard.
On a positive note: Staff was really nice, the location is an easy walk from town, great views, welcome snacks provided (would have preferred enough toilet roll though), safe complex and great secure parking!
As mentioned by other it was strange that we had to strip the beds, towels etc ourselves. Plus only one toilet roll supplied. Could have been cleaner as well. Also no dishwasher.

good location, clean and easy parking.
the shower could do with some attention, doesn’t stay up and floods the floor.

the location was great. parking ideal too. Clean and homely with all facilities.
Few repairs that could be addressed. Tap in bathroom was loose, shower screen leaked, window in lounge difficult to close. Not deal breakers but could be so easily fixed.

Very large apartment
Complimentary welcome pack but could have done with cuppa but no milk.
Shower leaked on to the bathroom floor. Only 1 fan for the hottest days ever recorded in the UK 🥵
Constant seagulls noise, hard to sleep but that's the price you pay to be at the waterside.

fabulous views of the river, nice and quiet.
parking absolute bonus. Everything you need. check in really easy and communication with host outstanding
nothing to dislike, maybe a king size bed but that is a personal preference.

Good location, quiet, peaceful, good access to Whitby
The lock box wasn’t numbered and it was fiddly to operate. The hot water had a strange smell.

Quiet good location
Dirty windows! Some basic information about appliances was hard to find. It would haven useful to know we were looking for Scott House rather than Seal Watch Apartment.

The view from the apartment and the size of the apartment and having parking.
It was in need of an update as the the window would not close and the twin bedroom window the latch loose. The bathroom flooded when you had a shower and the beds not very comfortable. No dishwasher.

Sel-catering so no breakfast provided. Location ideal. Quiet (no noise from other apartment occupants), easy to drive to with all local amenities within pleasant walking distance. Lovely view from living room.
Nothing comes to mind.

Have stayed in 2 or 3 different apartments over the last few years in Whitehall Landing and Seal Watch is by far the nicest !
Lovely and clean apartment with comfortable beds and nice touch of a little welcome pack on arrival which was very welcome and unexpected. Will definitely stay here again
Notice in the apartment to strip the beds and place in a laundry basket at the end of your stay.
Highly unusual and not the sort of thing you expect to have to do when going on holiday.

Lovely apartment, great and quiet location in easy walking distance of town. Great to have own dedicated parking space in the garage.
Views of the harbour were lovely the double bedroom and living Room.
There is a lift, which was a bonus for our elderly mum was with us.
Away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to walk in. Our mum is 82 and has arthritis in her hip, but loved the walk into town and back each day, as in on the flat.
Overall, a lovely place to stay

The View Secured Parking Building security no fault with the apartment.
One little problem was the television in the bedroom didn’t work. Same problem as our December stay. We could find no other fault with this apartment.

On arrival dead flies in the window bottom of bedroom, twin room freezing we let the hosts know and we’re told to turn the switch on at the wall, obviously we had done this and it still didn’t work the temperature was dreadful. Sweet papers under settee freezer needed defrosting.

Nicely decorated, the single beds were comfy, large rooms, lift access and private carpark, kitchen was well stocked, pet friendly. Was the only place in Whitby that was fairly priced and had disabled access. Great apartment, thank you for having us!
TV in the bedroom didnt have any channels or any apps. Main bed mattress was a bit springy and felt cheap (was also a double not a king size). A dishwasher would have been great. Low pressure in the shower. Outdoor bins couldn't be found.

A well appointed flat with lovely views n a 10 min flat walk into Whitby central.
We didn’t cook but the kitchen seemed well equipped.
Having free parking a definite bonus in such a popular town.
It was warm n comfortable n a pleasure to return to after exploring all day.
We would gladly return

All very good and a great location, easy walk into the centre and secure underground car parking included. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of a few niggly things. The bed in the master bedroom was quite small for two people (probably only a standard double). The mattress was terrible and practically bent in half when you lay on it. The sheets kept coming off the bed, there was no toilet roll, no sponge to wash up with and no cooking oil. Also, I tried to take the bins out to the main bins outside but they were located behind a locked door with a code on it. The code was not provided and when I called up to ask for it, nobody knew it. So couldn’t take the bins out. These are small things really and overall a good stay, would book again.

Communication with the host and check in was easy, and the location of the flat is pretty good as well. It is in a quiet area and we were able to walk everywhere in Whitby that we wanted to go. Unfortunately, that is where the positives ended. The cleanliness of the flat, especially for COVID times, was pretty poor. The floor wasn’t properly cleaned, there was hair left in the bathroom, and the bedsheets were dusty and hairy as well (not to mention of very cheap quality). The pots and utensils supplied were also of cheap quality and were dirty, so we had to wash everything up before using it. No store cupboard essentials were provided for cooking, and only one roll of loo paper and the end of a roll of paper towel were left, meaning we had to go out and buy our own as soon as we arrived. The TV was unwatchable on some channels due to a scrambled signal and some catch up TV requires a PIN code, meaning it can’t be watched - the host’s solution was just to watch it on your own device. The mattress in the master bedroom was completely broken and had no support, resulting in uncomfortable sleep. The doors in the flat are extremely loud and creaky, meaning that it was impossible to open the bedroom door without waking the other person. At the end of the stay, you are also expected to strip the beds, clean the counters and take out the bins (though no code was provided to actually do so). Surely a professional cleaning service should be responsible, rather than the guests - especially at the nightly rate being charged? Overall, disappointing and not worth staying at.

A good place to base a stay in Whitby. About 5-10 minutes' walk from the Old Town along a fairly flat road, though the slope up to Spital Bridge can be treacherous. The views over the private marina are lovely, but light sleepers may beware of the noisy gulls. The flat itself is comfortable, the beds are very soft and warm.

A lovely stay. Very clean and tidy. A great location, only a very short walk into the main town of Whitby. Has a free parking space which was very useful. Great views from the living room and main bedroom. Our little boy loved watching the trains from a distance and being able to see the boats!

This is a lovely apartment within walking distance from Whitby centre. It is very clean and tidy with good facilities and, has a locked garage with allocated slot. There are two very comfortable, spacious bedrooms and a large bathroom. The apartment also had Sky television and internet access.

A very comfortable apartment in an Ideal location in Whitby. We did have a problem getting the cooker to work and due to Covit restrictions we wanted to use the cooker more than we had planned. We could also have used a spare toilet roll, additional hand towels and cleaning cloth ..also there were only 3 dinner plates...these are I rented as constructive critisms rather than complaints as we did enjoy our stay

We had a great stay here. The apartment was super clean. Check in and communication was very quick and easy, with quick replies to any questions. The apartment was very nice and comfortable, with everything we needed. The location is great. A reserved underground parking space and a short walk into town. The area around the apartment is really nice too for a walk. Thanks for a great stay.

Absolutely perfect location, close to the local town but far enough to enjoy the benefits of free parking!
Waking up to a harbour view was great, and suitable for all ages as 3rd floor apartment with a lift (we had our 9 month old with us)
Would definitely stay again!
