Great location and easily accessible, some noise from the upstairs flat that woke us each morning and main front door always unlocked (separate lock for flat itself). Cosy and clean, great local area, nice decor and loved being able to take the dog with us.

The property itself is very nice but poorly managed. - Customer service was unhelpful, and ad somewhat misleading. - Boiler failed due to pressure issue; I fixed it myself late at night, but the host ignored my message afterwards. - Missing oven gloves made oven unsafe, also missing bathroom hand towel; requests were refused. One bath towel small, one had a hole. - Water discolouration issues were dismissed by the host, they made it our problem. - Constantly tried to sell us "early check-in". Normal check-in is 4pm, so they're basically selling a normal check-in time as a £40 add-on. - Only one sofa, ad showed two, log burner faulty, some dirty plates and cutlery, cracked wine glass, missing coffee machine, oil, salt and pepper. - “Private” garden is shared. - Found someone else's sock, razor and a bag under beds. - One French door couldn't be opened. - Bedside table missing a leg! - Threat of fines for late check outs and damage, but no real support during our stay.

Lovely flat in a beautiful area on a really quiet road but just a minute or two walk from the beach and a couple of minutes from restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The flat is comfortable, was really clean, and was a perfect base for a relaxing break.

At least one of the rooms looked like it hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. The listing also said it was a private garden, perfect for our dog and 3 year old. During our stay, people from the flat above were in the garden. The decor and the flat itself is beautiful, we were just disappointed with these aspects.

Really lovely stay. Clean and comfortable beds. Brilliant location - close to the beach and a short walk into town where there is a nice selection of pubs, shops and restaurants. A starter pack for the log burner would have been nice. Some basic things in the kitchen would be useful such as salt and pepper. Would definitely recommend.

A perfect stay by the sea. The apartment is modern and cosy. The beach is just a stone’s throw and we loved spending time on there morning and night. You can walk for miles along the sand. Highly recommend.

This place really was the ideal location for us - so close to the beach with the centre of Marske not far away too. Top tip: additional free car parking available at the nearby Windy Hill Car Park - ideal if you need EV charging too!

Charlie was really proactive and very helpful, providing clear instructions and information. The apartment is in a great location, just a short walk to the beach. Clean & comfortable. There are a few minor wear & tear things that need addressing like the chip in the bath and floors but nothing that stopped us enjoying our stay. A slightly later check out would be great, especially on a Sunday but again this didn’t effect our stay as we already had plans to leave early. We really enjoyed our stay and will no doubt return. Thanks for having us 😊

Amazing location, 5 mins from the beech, no problems parking, very easy to find and access the property. I did not realise that the property was a ground floor apartment (perhaps I just didn't look closely enough), it wasn't too much of a problem but there was some noise from the upstairs flat (assuming they have laminate floor up there instead of carpets!) , wasn't excessive or anything, just unexpected. The area was very peaceful and quiet overall. The property itself was very nicely laid out and clean and tidy. If I was being picky I would say the flooring throughout needs replacing and the bath needs resealing and mending but these are very minor issues and is more an aesthetic issue than functional. Overall we enjoyed our stay. 😀

A lovely place, great location with the beach a few minutes walk plenty of space to relax, shops a few minutes walk we parked the car and went everywhere on foot including the perfect walk to the next town. The downside is the place is a little rough around the edges and could do with a spruce, although very calm and relaxing. There were no bin bags provided, no kitchen cloth to wipe the sides or kitchen spray to clean the sides and no hand soap. All of the above making it difficult to clean up after yourself if you had wanted to cook (we didn’t). Also the early 10 am check out on a weekend made us feel rushed (check out in most places is 11). I would recommend this place and would probably stay again if I was in the area.

We felt that to be asked for yet more money in case we broke something was a bit of a con. £300 with £10 not refunded or £30 non refundable. The place is already on the expensive side as it is. There could definitely be a superking in the main bedroom and the second bedroom is a very small double. Which could benefit from curtains as it’s very very light. The tv in the living room is really small, could do with an update. There is a crack in the bath which I reported, I cut myself on it. Great position for the beach and nice and quiet.

The apartment was as previewed in the photographs and I have no major complaints! It was a lovely location, on a private street with parking and short distance to the beach. The rooms were lovely and adequate for a small group or family. My points would be that the experience did not feel very personal as it is run by a company. They barely provided any supplies that I thought would be expected in a self catering Airbnb (such as salt and pepper, kitchen spray and sponge). There are plenty Airbnb's which provide this, and it is a basic commodity in the kitchen, therefore I was a bit disappointed when I was told they don't supply these. The walls were thin, so I could hear the neighbors upstairs which made me feel quite exposed, and the home fairly non-private. I also did not feel it was super clean. The couch was dusty, with dog hair still present, and there were still father's day cards in the living room from the previous guest the weekend before...IT was Ok, there are better Airbnbs.

Host & Stay insist on a damage waiver policy which is easy to overlook. As a long term user of Air BnB I have never come across this before and it took me unawares. The accommodation itself was perfect. We came across a minor issue with the flat (the CO alarm was out of battery). I found having to communicate via Host and Stay frustrating compared to talking to the owner directly.

We have just returned from bank holiday weekend at retreat by the sea and loved every minute. The apartment is beautifully finished and spotlessly clean. There is everything you could possibly need and it’s so light and spacious, we visited with our two small children one aged 4 years and 7. months and we had so much room. Our 4 year old didn’t want to leave the holiday house and in honesty neither did we. The location is perfect right by the beech and a short walk to the village centre. We had no problem parking when we arrived. We would not hesitate to book again. Thank you so much

One of very few in Marske at not bad price. Great for a short stay, kitchen stylish & well stocked. Lovely bathroom, shower easy to use. Great little outdoor area. Very comfy sofas in sunny lounge. We had a comfortable stay, & would be happy to come back again if in the area. Good communication from the host.

In a lovely position near a very beautiful beach. The flat is tastefully decorated with a cosy lounge and clean. The accomodation has a constant change in levels and rugs that are quite slippy not good for anyone who is unsteady. There are basic things missing, no wardrobes but shelves in the large bedroom, the small bedroom has 2 small draws and a rail on the ceiling to high to be of any use …. no shelves, draws or wardrobe, the bed is uncomfortable. The dining space is small especially for 4 people. No grab rail in the shower Towels provided are small and thin, bring your own.

Had a lovely stay with friends. Perfect bank holiday - nice walk along the beach to saltburn, 30 min drive to Whitby. Nice pub at the top of the road that had music on for the bank holiday Sunday! Coffee and tea and even a bottle of wine left for us! Perfectly lovely air Bnb and holiday for a joint birthday 🎂

Great apartment, very clean. Had everything we needed, including coffee and tea. Host were great, checking up on us over email just in case we needed anything. Location is great just 2 minutes walk to the beach, we had our dog with us and she absolutely loved long walks on the beach. Parking was on first come basis, which we have been advised by the host, but we have always managed to park nearby. Highly recommend.

A very good place to stay - excellent location 5 minutes walk from the beach, 10 minute walk into Marske, 10 minute drive to Saltburn. A comfortable family apartment (the smaller second bedroom might be a bit tight for 4 adults, but fine for us with 2 high school age kids), clean and tidy, and nicely furnished. Would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful house right by the sea. Perfect location for exploring the coastline. Very dog friendly. Beds so comfortable and the house had everything you needed for a relaxing stay. As others have commented you can hear a lot from the flat upstairs which is such a shame. Also the garden isn't just for your use as the flat upstairs has access via metal stairs that take up a large space in the garden. From the listing's explanation I was expecting a private garden that we could just use and my dog was safe to roam in so this was a little disappointing. If you don't mind these two things though it is a perfect place to stay.

This was the first stay with our dog and couldn’t have been more amazing! It was clean and spacious! The garden area was great for our dog! Being so close to the beach was great too! Only a 5 min walk! Would recommend to friends and family

Feed back. * Request for cleaning items not met. (Nothing to clean the floor or dishwasher tablets.) No bowl to wash dishes either. * The noise from the residents above is constant. There is little to no sound proofing. From the moment they are awake, so are you. The doors banging and noise from walking up and down the stairs is quite disturbing. * Snagging List: 1. The floor in bathroom is damaged. Dangerous with nothing on your feet. 2. Damp in the main bedroom. 3. Missing chain from right blind in main bedroom. Couldn't open once closed. 4. Property needs a deep clean. Cupboards dirty, wooden floor damaged and dusty (under kitchen table), back of sofas dusty, wooden wall claddin needs to be fixed to wall properly. 5. The outside area could do with drain covers and made more welcoming to sit in. The milk in fridge is a nice touch. The property is in a fantastic location and could be so much better than it currently is presented. We were sold a relaxing and luxurious stay, but it hasn't worked out the break we expected. Also from the minute walking into the property we were reminded about our checkout time! Receiving texts, emails and even the tablet in the property was constantly telling us to vacate by 10am on our leaving day. Not what you want throughout your holiday! Unfortunately we would not return the this property and could not recommend to our family and friends. Thank you Tracey Oliver

We absolutely loved our stay at Retreat by the Sea! The apartment was gorgeous - modern, beautifully decorated with a coastal theme (LOVED the kitchen and biggest bedroom), and it was so clean and tidy. The property was very well equipped with plenty of cutlery/plates/mugs/glassware, cooking equipment and utensils, cleaning equipment, plenty of towels, and extra touches like milk in the fridge when we arrived. I was also impressed that there were champagne flutes which is a rarity i I find! The TV has Netflix also which is fab for relaxing. The beach was about a 1 or 2 minute walk and there's lovely cafés and pubs close also - we found the area to be very dog friendly which was ideal for us. There is a sainsburys local about 5 minute walk from the property also. Overall an absolutely fabulous stay and would stay again in future!

A really lovely and well equipped place to stay. The location was perfect for the beach, which was simply delightful. The apartment is really stylishly decorated and there’s more than enough room for 2 couples. The second bedroom, although comfortable, might be a little tight for some people, with limited storage. Marske-by-the-sea is a real jewel in the area, everything you need to hand and the public gardens opposite are a lovely place to walk to the sea.

Brilliant location, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Literally three minutes from the beach. Slight downside is the (lack of) soundproofing. While the family upstairs aren’t noisy, you can hear them coming and going.

Had a brilliant stay in Marske. The location was perfect, just a 2 minute walk from the beach and plenty shops/takeaways nearby. Loved that it’s dog friendly and had a little garden for her. The check in/out process was really simple and communication from the hosts was great. The property was very clean and is decorated to a very high standard. Felt like a real home away from home and we would love to come back again soon!
