Well appointed and comfortable. Parking space is a short walk up the hill from the property and is handy with parking bejng generally a bit tricky in whitby at busy times.
Nothing in the guest info for heating controller, we had to message to find where it was. (Its in the upstairs livingroom on the table and looks like a clock!)
Upstairs bedrooms have low ceilings- you will need to duck!
But nothing that takes away from an excellent stay

It was near the town
Clean and excellent kitchen appliances
Both me and my partner are over 80 Kitchen on second floor up steep winding staircase Bedrooms on third floor again up a steep winding staircase But the worst had yet to come the beams were that low you have to be under four feet to walk about and be even more careful when getting in or out of bed as the ceiling was only about a foot above our heads Needless to say we had a few bumps on our heads
Outside the premises the walkway was full of rubbish and uneven.Steps were also uneven No lights were on walkway so had to use phone torch to see where we were walking at night
Car parking is a near 10 minutes walk up a really steep hill then park on someones drive impossibly for us to do On the first night we came in to find no lights or sockets working so we had no cuppa before bed We made our way to bed again under torch light thank you phone

comfortable and snug.
lots of steps, no welcome pack, if you find a parking spot leave your motor in it till you leave. dealing with host and stay was like juggling soot.

The location was good, but a bit of a walk from the town centre.
Parking was not very convenient, a stiff walk away up a very steep hill. Generally, parking in Whitby is very limited.

Plenty of lounge space
Low ceilings in the bedrooms, rather a steep hill to the car.

The cottage is in a great location and within walking distance to the centre . Very clean and everything you could need for a few days away . Beds were really comfortable too.
There is a lack of parking especially close to the property. We didn’t go out much in the car incase I couldn’t get parked again as it was just me and my two children .

The cottage was well appointed and clean ; location was good being only a short walk from the town centre.
I did hit my head on the roof beams on several occasions - ouch.

A great place for a family holiday - the location is perfect for a stroll into Whitby but away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Having two separate living rooms is perfect for setting up an X Box in one and an adult space in the other! The Nespresso machine was a lovely touch and the well-equipped kitchen made meal prep a breeze ; the attention to detail was impressive - good wine glasses and quality towels made us feel welcome. Overall a great choice for a break. Be sure to head to Staithes for a fossil hunt - much fun was had!

This little place was a lovely find . Everywhere was spotless, comfortable and tidy. It was a short walk into town and the harbour /beach which was great as we didn’t want to use the car all the time. We all slept well too , the bed was nice and comfortable. The shower was always nice and hot, And to have two cosy living rooms was a plus as my daughter wanted to watch her programs and we could chat in the other room . The only thing we couldn’t find on checking out was the bin. There were instructions as to where it was on the pedal bin so I went outside both alleyways but couldn’t find a number 7 bin , every other number but ! … never mind , there was a bin next to the bus stop that we used, all good . First time visiting Whitby and it won’t be the last. We had a couple of lovely sunsets and managed the 199 steps up to the Abbey. Thanks so much hope to see you soon

The parking being up a steep hill. It was good to have a safe space but I’m not very fit

Super little house, beautifully furnished.
We had a great time here. Parking sometimes not possible, so had to park up the hill a couple of times (5/10 min walk).
Careful not to bump your head in the top bedrooms - happened to us a few times 😊.
But house excellent value for money and we were very warm and cosy here .
Loved our time in Whitby, what a place ! 😀

Great Location, nice house, facilities were good. Nice and warm, modern decor.
Missing personal touch, no tea or coffee, no soap or shampoo, light bulbs missing or broken. Every single cup was dirty. Shower would not turn off, and could not find/was not told where stop tap was so had no choice but to leave it running. Also constant texts and reminders of check out

Great location, well equipped kitchen and twin lounge areas. Nicely decorated with the exception of the shower which could do with a deep clean. No heating in bathroom or kitchen so perhaps not the place for deep winter, but the upstairs lounge was nice and snug. As previous reviews have mentioned there are steep and uneven steps up to the property, and the bedrooms are height restricted in areas, but the location and available off-road parking was very convenient and we had a lovely time.

The house is in a convenient location (with car parking round the corner helpful) and you can walk into Whitby in a few minutes but still be assured of a peaceful night's sleep. Really comfy beds and well appointed throughout, but an outdoor light would be handy. The place is compact and if you have mobility issues this is not the place for you - the house is set back and up from the main road and accessible via stone steps - but overall we really enjoyed its character and quirky charm.

Location very handy for central Whitby. Parking - got lucky by arriving well in advance of check-in and waiting nearby until a space became available for free on street parking near the property. There is an arrangement for free off street parking at a house on a housing estate which is about 5 minutes drive away up a steep hill. We didn’t use it only as felt it was impractical to park there and carry luggage etc to/from the cottage - nice offer though as appreciate parking is at a premium in town. The cottage is well equipped and furnished with no external noise disturbance at all. Mind your head in upstairs bedrooms!

Absolutely beautiful cottage. We loved how close to the centre we were and getting harbour views was an added bonus. The decor and interior arrangement was perfect. We felt right at home and didn’t want to leave. The kitchen was equipped and roomy for cooking. Small dishwasher was a nice touch so we didn’t have to do washing up while away. The sofas and living spaces were super comfortable. And one of my favourite parts were the beds were so comfortable we all slept so well. Thank you harbour mist we will definitely come back again 😊

The living accommodation in this place is truly fabulous and the choice of spaces to chill out was refreshing for the local area, as was having access to a parking space. The place is finished to a high standard and the hosts have thought of everything - including the small touches like a handy Nespresso machine in the kitchen. The upper floor proved more of a challenge for us with height restrictions and space in bedrooms and upper bathroom.

The cottage has been renovated to a high & contemporary standard. We couldn’t believe how much was done to a small cottage to make it into holiday accommodation . Host & Stay were available to us throughout and were most helpful.
Although very lovely, the cottage is not for people with any kind of mobility issues as it is spread over three floors with steps throughout, the outside requires climbing steep steps and the car parking, with lovely people in the area, is an uphill walk away.
We had a lovely few days away.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Harbour Mist Cottage. it was clean and beautifully presented. The location was superb, a short walk to Whitby centre. We've stayed in a few airbnbs and with this one we were surprised by the lack of basics. For example, there was no pepper, no cooking oil and only three toilet rolls for two bathrooms. On a more positive note we loved the touch of shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. The bedrooms are beautiful and the bed linen was pristine. The bedrooms have sloped ceilings, but this wasn't a problem for us as we are not that tall! This property really is a beautiful retreat in the centre of Whitby and we would definitely return.

Two lounges - very useful for age differences in the taste of TV programmes. Good access to Netflix etc and It has a really attractive decorated interior. Kitchen lovely design and well stocked with everything you need. Two toilets and lovely shower. Really good location as was close to Whitby centre so not too far to walk. Close to Middle Earth. Fish shop close by. Car parking space provided which is essential. Great views from the windows. Really felt like a proper cottage ie authentic. Had a ‘wow’ factor!
It’s no good for people with mobility issues. Very low beams in the bedrooms. Second bedroom with two single beds fine for a short stay but cramped. Kitchen space is fab but wonder if having a gate at the top of the stairs going to the kitchen needs a safety gate. Take some dish washer tablets and liquid with you.

Location was spot on, 👌 great for walks and shopping. Close to transport links as well. Fish and chip shop a minute away!
The cleanliness of the property was not ideal. Bags of rubbish left out the back. Seagulls have also opened them up. I think this contributed to the flys which was none stop through out the property, even when all the windows and doors whe,re opened. It also smelled of dog on the sofas when you sat on them, even tho it says no pets allowed? On top of these, there was not enough cleaning resources. There was only one black bin bag for a weeks stay . So couldn't clean the mess out the back even if we wanted to.
Was also stated as towels included. Also asked about this before are visit. But only had 4 towels between 4 adults for a week!
Also the parking was misleading. Said it was 3 minutes but closer to 10mins up a very steep hill without a path. OK for us, younger adults. But not great for older folk or family's with children. We didn't use are car, which was lucky as the only time we check the car for are stay it was blocked in.

The quirkiness of the house and the atmosphere and comfort of the upstairs sitting room.
The downstairs sitting room (as you enter) smells musty and damp. It is not convenient to have to eat downstairs when the kitchen is on the first floor…perhaps consider changing the layout? Also, it was impossible to change the shower temperature (which was too hot). There is nowhere to hang used/damp towels.

My sister and I spent three days at this wonderful house, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms, lots of creative storage. We used the upstairs living room, as next to kitchen and bathroom, view of the harbour. Nice short walk along riverside into town, near restaurants and swing bridge. Nice attic bedrooms upstairs with small bathroom (toilet and sink) between.
Would love to return soon, and would highly recommend.

A well presented little cottage, clean and well equipped.
Location is excellent for walking into town.
Parking is difficult and the property was hard to locate as we arrived in the dark.
The dining table is on the ground floor but the kitchen is on the first floor which made it difficult when taking food to the table.
The second bedroom is very small and cramped and the second single bed is short in length. This room would be much better with only one single bed. The sliding door to this room needs a sign or should be left open when guests arrive so that it is clear that it slides rather than opening in/out.

Can't fault this lovely little cottage. It was very well presented & had everything we needed for a short stay plus a washing machine & cleaning products for those staying for longer. The smart TV's meant we could chill out watching a film on Netflix after a day exploring Whitby & the surrounding areas. Location was 10/10 - just a short walk into town plus there's a very nice chip next door.
NA - this property definitely exceeded expectations.

Beautiful, clean and quirky. A great wee house for my son and me for a few days. Everything is a positive but parking the car was difficult: the pavement outside was always full and the neighbour with whom the host had a driveway sharing arrangement had no space. But I'm nit picking there.

The location was good for visiting Whitby. The decor in the house was nice and the beds were comfy.
Beware of all the hidden fees in the small print. You are charged a cleaning fee of £60 but it was clear that the property was not professionally cleaned as there were bits all ove the kitchen counters, plates were dirty and mould in the shower. They insist on taking a £250 damage deposit and then charge you a £10 admin fee for sending it back to you. Hosts were there 15 mins before checkout time, stood at the door waiting for us to leave which made us feel rushed.

location was handy for the town
The bedrooms are in a converted loft and are very small and cramped with no headroom and no wardrobes, it was impossible to sit up in bed without bashing your head on the roof, Most of the windows and doors don’t close as they are poor quality and are poorly fitted. The whole house had sticky surfaces as there was no kitchen extraction fan, there are no drying facilities for washing machine .The general layout is ridiculous as hot food has to be carried down rickety stairs to dining table on the ground floor as the kitchen is on second floor. Steep slippery worn out steps out front to access the property , of which would be impossible to climb for the elderly or very young. There was no available spaces out front to unload the car it was always full and the arranged parking is a good 5min walk up a very steep hill.A noisy boatyard is opposite and lots of metal bashing most of the day.I could list others, basically the layout doesn’t work so not recommended.

fab quirky house opposite the harbour in Whitby. accommodation over 3 floors, lovely lounge area and kitchen, fab bathroom. bedrooms on top floor , tall people need to take care as lots of low beams. 5 mins walk into the centre of whitby so nice and quiet on an evening. perfect for a long weekend. just a note about parking, the car parking space with the property is just round the corner, we unloaded on the pavement on the main road, a bit of faff, fine if you are able bodied. not much other free parking that we could find. However car park a few minutes walk away isn't too expensive for a weekend ticket.

A well presented holiday cottage in a great location in Whitby. Walking distance to the town and harbour.
A few things to keep in mind with this property is that there are a few steps (to get up to and inside the house) so could be tricky for older guests. The parking outside is also on a first come basis so you may not always be parked closed to the house.

charming and full of character
Decor was very nice ( loved the whitby fishing knit in the frame )
clean
tidy
enjoyed being by the harbour
little things made the difference ie a pizza cutter 😂 good towels, toiletries, washing up bowl all set up, detergent in the jar,
very thoughtful and considerate
hit my head 3 times and I’m only 5’6” 😂
no bath
I found the tv upstairs a little confusing t use without a regular terrestrial guide 🙈
the parking situation wasn’t ideal - once a space in front of the property became available we moved the car however we do accept this is busy time and parking in Whitby nearby is limited 🙂

This property as with many in Whitby is not without its quirks (low beams inside, worn uneven steps leading up to the property) but this is why we love Whitby and see it as charm and character. This property has everything you need being well presented clean, comfortable, and just a sort stroll into town. The parking is a massive bonus as anyone trying to park in Whitby on a bank holiday will know, especially if you are told about the sort cut back to the property by foot. There is only one key, if you are going out separately this can be a problem, so don't forget to leave the key in the key safe (lesson learnt). I will be checking availability of Harbour Mist cottage for our next stay in Whitby.
