it's was a great location and the view was fair
the fact is the place wasn't clean on my arrival, felt like you were walking on git, there was hair and dirt on the bedin and cobwebs around the toilet and lampshades. I just really hope that the cleaner just forgot to clean it that day because apart from that it would have been almost perfect

The location is fantastic right in the centre of Whitby.
The property was filthy!
There was dirty underwear under our bed. The apartment was filthy. It smelt very badly of smoke. There was ash in the bedroom draws. No toilet roll was left there was an old used bar of soap in the bathroom. The shower in the top bedroom didn’t drain. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been hoovered since it was put down. The sofa. Was absolutely filthy!! Literally disgusting we never sat on it it was that bad! Luckily we didn’t need to be in the apartment much. No wifi!! This also meant the heaters didn’t work because they could only work on WiFi.
The main door to the building the lock doesn’t work so anyone can walk in.
It is not like the pictures advertised!!!

Location, accessibility.
We have stayed at the Golden Lion apartments on many occasions and enjoyed each trip. This time we hade the feeling that the apartments are getting tired and less well stocked. Only 2 mugs for example, less cushions on the sofa than previously, less knives / forks / spoons. The laminate flooring in the bathroom is starting to split.

Property was almost superb however - see below
we had 3 complaints -
1 the reason we chose this venue was for WiFi (this is very important to us). The WiFi wasn’t working and this was reported on our arrival, (the WiFi didn’t show up on our devices therefore we guessed that it wasn’t switched on and I couldn’t find the hub to do this). We were assured a team member would come to the apartment and deal with this and the other two issues - this never happened despite over 20 emails back and forth - disgraceful to not have this dealt with as promised
2 the fridge was broken and noisy - it still worked but internal parts were missing so storage was limited, the compressor was noisy and distracting
3 a stain on the skirting on both sides of the toilet pan - either faeces or a painting issue - I wasn’t about to investigate and wanted this looked at by the host
What really annoyed me was the use of generic emails to apologise, nothing felt personal, and we felt that the company were happy to take our money, promise to fix the problems and run
They have since offered £27.50 as compensation and 20% off our next stay

I liked the room itself - the design and decorations were just lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely.
Didn’t like the fact the room obviously hadn’t been cleaned before us, there was a wee stain on the carpet in the lounge (which stunk the room up when we first entered), glasses with lipstick/lip marks on them, there was what looked like either mould or bird poo on the chair in the lounge infront of the tv, which all got covered in my partners new pair of jeans he bought for the trip, we were given a permit to park which we used and then got a penalty regardless so clearly they didn’t work, we requested for another permit on the day of arrival and didn’t receive one, the website also states wifi is accessible, there wasn’t any wifi, we’ve had to drain our data and not watch tv.

Its location was excellent.
Front door to the apartment block did not shut properly so was always open(not good for security), WiFi didn’t work throughout(not good for work), the whole apartment needed some attention and the building and apartment wasn’t very clean.

Very central! Clean, amazing shower and the bed was so comfortable!
Wi-fi did not work so we could not watch Netflix etc (weather was awful when we were there so stayed in two nights!) ….wanted to download a new book on my kindle but couldn’t do that either! Didn’t matter that much but would have been good. A microwave would be a welcome addition too as well as a dishcloth to hand wash dishes.

Well located a and quite well appointed
The internet and TV were not working throughout our stay we reported the fault on day 1 it was day 4 before someone came to turn it on and off again, which had already done and say they would have to contact the owners. No progress by the time we left. We were told they wouldn’t give us any compensation but we could get a discount if we stay again.
The shower and sink plugs over flowed. The maintenance guy had it on his list from a previous client apparently but turned up without warning at an inconvenient time so it never got fixed.
Various annoying things.. only two towels for a week no hand towels, only two mugs! Generally needs a bit of TLC. They used to give a parking permit but don’t anymore.
Not good value anymore.

The location was fab very central
The smell as you walk through the doors, the stairs and hallway carpets weren’t fitted right which could easily cause an accident, as the bins are stored when you first walk in the smell is horrendous and there were a lot of flys, once in the apartment though it was a lot better however it hadn’t been cleaned properly, thick dust all over the floors, beer can lids still left on the bedside table but we easily sorted that ourselfs, it does need re decorating as paint was peeling in clumps from the walls, sheets and towels were immaculately clean.

Location is great
Apartment is bright
Bed very comfortable
Lovely bathroom and shower
View is lovely
Could be much cleaner lots of dust on towel rail in bathroom and on fittings around the apartment
Modern industria. But sadly WiFi not even findable on phone to connect. Which made the great to features unusable No microwave and no usb sockets
Paint peeling on walls
Upstairs washing machine vibrates the whole bedroom including the floor lol
These are issues reported throughout the feedback but sadly don’t seem to be addressed. Having said this the apartment is lovely and for us these were niggles not deal breakers. Already booked to come back in December. Hoping the dusting is done if nothing else

Location was very central, mattresses were very comfy
The place was absolutely filthy, the sofa was thick of dust and sand, stained, and stunk, the floors haven’t seen a hoover since they were laid, the whole place could do with a lick of paint and some maintenance, snapped toilet seats, rotted floor in the en-suite, pictures missing, cracked walls

Good location.
Comfortable settee and bed.
Good shower.
Kitchen had everything needed to holiday self catering (once cleaned and able to use.)
The seagulls outside were very noisy, we heard a bit of noise from the Irish pub opposite on the first night but that was it and the stairs to the apartment were narrow and steep. - This was all in the description of the property on booking.com and I liked the honesty in this description.
Although the original decor idea is nice and modern the decor was very tired. It needed paint work, repairs where hooks etc. were coming off of the walls.
No wardrobe or anywhere to hang clothes in the bedroom, hook that could have been used was hanging off of the wall.
The sink didn't drain water well at all making it difficult to use and in constant need of cleaning.
The apartment itself and glasses, cups, pots and pans etc. were not clean at all which was the most disappointing part of the stay.
We wouldn't stay here again.

as our 30th wedding anniversary, we just wanted something that would help to create the best of memories.....it did that, and more some. The location was perfect for everything we wanted. The apartment was exactly as described and on the one occasion we needed to contact the owner/host, they responded almost immediately. The only small downside was not being able to park close by but we were prepared for that, being in the middle of the town, plus the description did highlight this. A big thank you from my wife and I.....we will be back again, I'm sure.

Location.
Dirty. We arrived to find written in dust on the kitchen chair ‘clean me’. Hallway on arrival dirty and smelt if damp.
Lots of noise from neighbours.
Sparse basic equipment for self catering no chopping board.
No parking card had to pay for first day told we would be reimbursed after ‘reaching out’ still no sign of that and no replies.

The location for the apartment and the apartment itself was very easy. A brilliant base for a weekend away.
However, I’m sure stevie wonder could clean it better. Dust balls behind doors. Dust clumps down the side of the bed. The living had a run of dirt around the edges of the room. The stairs has not seen a hoover for a long time. The bathroom looked grubby in the shower with mold growing on the silicone. The windows haven’t seen a clean either. The whole apartment needs a deep clean and a lick of paint. This is the disappoint we felt with the apartment. We did spend a lot of time exploring but when we did return the apartment we had to be be careful where we put stuff to not get covered in dust or dirt. I do hope this is booked in for a deep clean as I don’t want other people disappointed when it isn’t the cheapest weekend away on air bnb.

The apartment is nice, it's well-represented by the photos and really well-located.
Unfortunately, we had some issues that really impacted our trip. The WiFi didn't work at all. We called up support and they treated us like morons 'Have you turned it on at the wall', 'Have you entered the password properly' etc? And it feels a bit insulting after reading previous reviews where this is clearly an ongoing issue. The scratch card for the parking was not there on arrival. Support said they would resolve the issue. This meant they would drop off a scratch card at some point in the key box, and NOT TELL US that it was there. So we didn't find it until the end of the trip. The shower downstairs still wasn't working. There was a lot of dust all over the place, esp. under the beds. They didn't provide a vacuum cleaner or even a broom or dustpan and brush which was a real pain since we had an infant and a pet with us. And the corkscrew was broken. Really lacking in attention to detail.

The location is excellent with a view of the swing bridge and close to everything you could need. Really nice craft beer bar called The Esk Vaults is a couple of doors up. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom/kitchen well equipped for a week away. Even a dog bowl provided. Would definitely stay there again if not for the WiFi.
The WiFI was pretty much unusable. It's a 4G mobile router in a cupboard and was too slow for use (I was working while staying). There's a smart TV but it wasn't possible to stream anything on the slow connection. If you want a break from WiFi - not a problem but something to bear in mind if you need it. The hallway/communal areas were a bit smelly but not a problem once you were in the apartment.

Excellent location right by the swing bridge.
Beautiful modern and clean apartment. Very comfortable bed. Lovely shower.
Bedroom had windows on two walls which enabled a nice cross breeze.
As with most places in Whitby, you need to park away from the apartment which is a minor annoyance when carting bags.

The property was spacious and allowed room for 4 people comfortably with a small dog too.
The ‘self-check in’ is long and leaves you stood outside for 30 minutes.
After arriving at the property, I looked around for an electronic device to check in through although ended up calling the office number after not finding anything, but locked doors, after a couple tries they picked up.
I asked about checking in and was told I should’ve had confirmation texts with instructions on.
I hadn’t received this.
It was because I hadn’t had the online payment form for a damage deposit. Needless to say I hadn’t received this either.
This was, to my knowledge, included in my original payment. This company are now looking for a further £250 payment to be taken over the phone, while I’m stood outside with no access to a card.
I was finally sent a text link to pay this, where a £25 (non-refundable) option was available to pay via Apple Pay.
Both payments being completely unreasonable after nothing being mentioned in the ‘property policy’ section on booking.com including the final payment I made showing a cleaning and damage fee already. So my ‘self check in’ took 2 phone calls and 30 minutes while me and the other guests stood waiting on the street with all our bags for the additional hidden charge to go through.
The rooms were dirty and damaged including dirty bed sheets. Theres hot water for the shower unless you want to shower for more than 5 mins then you run out of hot water. The chest of drawers in the twin room was bolted to the wall behind the bed so you can’t even open the draws.
Overall, a unorganised and chaotic ‘self-checkin’. Would not stay again nor recommend this company.

Very centrally located, so great place to have a base. The facilities are basic but the bed was comfortable. The parking is far away, so for those with dog crates or heavy food, drop it off close by and then park.
There are steep stairs, so if you have a mobility difficulty, this may not be the best rental for you. Unfortunately when we went the Lion pub was renovating so early noise from the builders, but that is a short term issue.

No Wi-Fi working even though we complained several times. No microwave in kitchen even though it was listed. Bathroom smelled like sewers and toiletries were very limited. Neighbours directly above were constantly banging and shouting all night. Fire alarm went off several times in the early hours of the morning each night. We couldn’t wait to leave in the end. I do not recommend staying here as they just take your money and don’t respond to your complaints. Paying a deposit is an insult.

Not much
Dirty lounge was dirty and had crumbs under cushions suggesting it was not properly cleaned. Pots were not clean. They said the parking was nearby however we had to walk for 15 minutes in the rain from our nearest parking. The place had a sewer smell and all the shower, dishwasher and toilet were not usable because water backed up through the pipes and would have flooded on to the floor if used. Finding the door to the apartment was a nightmare and we had to keep calling for directions as it was not obvious. On arrival we were slugged with another charge of non refundable 25 pounds for insurance which should have been included in the up front cost when comparing charges on booking.com.

Very comfortable bed, lovely shower, and a really nice view of the swing bridge and Abbey.
Nice kitchen and breakfast bar area with very good quality appliances.
liked the contempory feel of the decor overall especially the exposed brick work and lighting.
The apartments are in a very good location, very central so easy to access all that beautiful Whitby has to offer, seagulls get a little noisey but that just adds to the seaside atmosphere. 🏖️👍😀
The steps and entrance to the main building looked a little tired and in slight need of a refurb, and there was quite alot of paint peeling off on the outer wall of the apartment which looked a bit ugly. Outside windows and ledges in need of a good clean.
.Kitchen overall had very good appliances but a little short on some items such as wine glasses with stems, a frying pan, and they was only one egg cup
The decor of the apartment overall was very nice with a modern contempory feel especially liked the exposed brick walls and lighting so it was a shame about the peeling paint on the walls.

Great location
On arrival, we opened the door to a foisty damp smell, to be greeted by 3 floors of stairs, which were narrow and in a spiral form. On entering the property, it had the same damp smell. After finally getting our luggage upstairs, we found that the apartment was mucky infact we couldn't believe it had been cleaned. Dust everywhere, black marks on the walls, settee with stains on, broken glass, chipped dish, cracked toilet lid, damp on the walls, sanitary wrapper under my bed, mucky fridge, crumbs in the knife and fork draw, the list is endless. I contacted the property straight away and was asked if we could send pictures in, we spent the first 2 hours of our holiday on the phone and sending pictures to Host and Stay. They also told us that we should find a scratch card in the apartment for free parking, this is another reason I booked this. Only after ringing them back to say we couldn't find it, they informed us they had run out. We were told to go and park, and they would reimburse us when we checked out, i haven't sent my tickets in yet, so we will see.. On Thursday, 4th July, I received an email to ask if I would like a re-clean. This was the day before we were leaving. I will NEVER use HOST AND STAY again. I have been sent a complaint form to fill in asking for pictures yet again. I will attach a few for you to see. We are not snobs, but when you are paying £650 for 4 nights away, you at least expect it to be clean. After looking back on reviews after this as happened to us, HOST AND STAY have had things like this mentioned to them starting April this year and after telling other guest they would look into it they never have. We booked this in February, so I didn't look at reviews after we had booked. If you are hard working people spend your money elsewhere.

The location of the apartment was brilliant. The decor was nice, but very tired
Dealing with the accommodation management company; Host & Stay, was a joke.
One of the main reasons we chose this property was the location and the fact you got a parking pass included.
We arrived at the property and there was no parking permit. I called the agent multiple times with no answer, so had to find and pay for parking for the first night.
I eventually got an answer via message at around 11pm on the first night with silly suggestions. I was given no helpful response or solution.
I had to follow up again the next day with no solution until around 4pm, but we eventually received a parking pass. It was also agreed that the £11 for the parking would be reimbursed to us, which was the least they could do for the stress caused.
We thought the drama was done with, but 2 weeks later, I had £195 taken from my bank account by Host & Stay with no explanation or pre warning.
I was 6 months pregnant at the time and the whole ordeal was becoming too much for me. My husband called them and they said they had refunded us £206 but it should have only been £11 for the parking. So rather than letting us know, they just charged us the difference. The issue was, I hadn’t received the refund yet, so was £195 out of pocket, with no knowledge of when the refund was going to hit my account.
I’ve never dealt with a company which has such poor customer service and lack of communication, who also think they can take money from your account without making you aware first.
I really feel for the owners of the apartment, as it’s not being managed well at all.

Cool, well appointed and right next to an Irish pub! Does it get better than that? I think not! Also, the washing and cooking facilities mean that it makes for a cheap holiday!
Probably not suitable for the frail because the stairs are a bit steep, but there is little to be done about that.

The only positive about the property was the location.
1. WiFi did not work so had no access to TV
2. Walls are falling apart with cracks in painting and plaster board coming away
3. Bathroom sink did not drain
4. Hairs in the shower upon arrival
5. Sitting room had not been hoovered or cleaned and was full of dust and dog hair and bits of rubbish
6. The bathroom door did not shut properly and was broke
7. The extractor fan had a thick layer of dust over it and it was turned on which just circulated dust throughout the whole room.
8. Shower tiles laced in mould and dirt
9. Kitchen cupboards and oven are filthy
10. Fridge stunk of off milk and stains in the fridge
11. When you open any of the windows there is a layer of dirt in the bottom of every window
12. Bird poo on bedroom window nearly the size of the window

Great location and good size apartment.
After paying in full and before they will send you the door codes you have to pay a damage cover payment of either £25 or £500. Like everything else you think you will get a partial refund if no damage, but you don't on the £25 fee. They should tell you this on booking, not after paying in full.
You get a bombardment of emails about damage to the property and fees if you are not out by 10 a.m.
The main problem is that the apartment was dirty. A few points were that the rug was covered in stains and crumbs. Bathroom not cleaned properly, kitchen sink not clean. Stale smelling communal hallways. Not a good impression.
You get the impression from their web site that the property has parking. It doesn't. They give you a ticket to park in the town. Be prepared for a walk with your luggage. We packed expecting to park beside the property. It is only on the day of your arrival that you find this out.

The apartment was in a great location and great value for money.
The instructions for check in relied on you filling out the waver form which I was unaware of so I had to call the office twice to sort it and get the entry code.
Also, the perpetual messaging about when we were to check out. I had 2 the day after we arrived then 2 on the morning we were leaving. Plus, the quite serious messages about leaving it tidy when it was a bit grubby round the edges, dust on light fittings, toilet seat wonky, big dirty scuffs and marks on the walls. But we're weren't bothered by that because it was good value for money.
The bed was quite small too.

Excellent location however previous reviews about cleanliness, poor WIFI and broken shower still appear not to be resolved. Toilet in downstairs shower room wasn’t cleaned to a high standard, seat and hinges had dust still evident. WIFI wasn’t fit for purpose. Ended up using our own data. Smart TV in property but WIFI not strong enough to stream anything. Had to rely on Freeview. Shower next to kitchen is broken as you are unable to regulate heat. Water gets dangerously hot and unable to use. Hinged Doors to bathroom from main bedroom are broken with loose screws evident when we arrived. This property is modern and in a great location, however the unresolved issues really let it down. Was fine for us for the one night we were there but wouldn’t rebook for any longer.

Great location and a nice clean attractive appartment. The fixtures fittings and equipment were high spec and comprehensive. Close to all the local.amenities
The outside entrance was dingy and strewn with rubbish. The front door was dirty. The front door security lock didn't work. The entrance.hallway smelled of damp and had not been hoovered. The Internet did not work and there was no router. The bathroom sink did not drain. There was paint peeling on the lounge wall. The bathroom slide door was broken. Car parking was a.long way away and you had to pay to park before you could get into the apt to find the car park pass. Why not senf it through the post? I also had endless emails all saying the exact same thing. Instructions were late and I had to keep phoning to get information..Very polite responses but not very helpful.

I loved the location, within a stones throw of the river.
The apartment was ok, the single beds were flat and a pancake though and had no bounce back, meaning you could feel the wooden base. Got my daughter to put the other quilt from the other single bed on the base to help.
The master room was much better.
The lounge is nice, well equipped but the sofa was a quite stained and needs a good clean.
The WiFi never worked either despite many attempts
The kitchen was poorly equipped- one teabag meaning we’d had to eek a teabag out at night when we got in, and a few sachets of milk.. not what I’d expect paying over £200 for one night!
The cups and plates were grubby and sticky, not sure they were clean and no washing up liquid to clean anything?
Shower facilities good
Check out was 10am, asked for late mr checkout as no one booked the following day bit was refused. Was will to pay extra..
All in all, good location, needs a good clean. Think about the hospitality side though!

Admin fee for taking a deposit or pay £25 extra to be insured
Check in was a joke, staff very unhelpful and phone kept cutting out.
Toilet seat was broke, shower filled up spoke to staff there was supposed to be getting fixed but no one turned up.
Asked for a refund and they have a long winded complaints procedure which I can’t be bothered going through. Wouldn’t stay again for free
Pics are very flattering all in all quite a crumby little apartment

Perfect location and well furnished. Good value for money.
The apartment needed a good deep clean with a thick layer of dust visible in certain places and patches of paint falling off wall in living room.
The paint of £250 security deposit which takes 2 weeks to be returned is a bit much. Surely could be done quicker.

Leaking kitchen sink which was reported yesterday, cold bedroom, and couldn’t alter same as the towel rail despite following instructions, mould in shower, damp on lounge ceiling, lack of normal tv channels and tv constantly glitching. Out of your control but who ever was above us were very noisy stomping about or un packing at 3am

Had an okay stay… the flat was nice with a decent space. It wasn’t clean to highest standard as we found a lot of dust under the bed feet and behind stuff. It also had some stains in the bathroom but nothing major. Location is great with many restaurants around as well as the beach. Very close to the train station as well. We did have problems with the internet and didn’t receive much help on how to actually fix the problem and have internet access. The single beds on the second bedroom are also terribly uncomfortable. The shower on the first floor also didn’t work properly. I think is would be a better option for a couple only as the main bedroom has a great space.

Location is fantastic, really central to everything you’d want in Whitby, and you watch the bridge in action from the sofa!
Accommodation is decent size, and averagely equipped.
Standard of cleaning is was pretty poor prior to our stay, with cobwebs and dust in most rooms, and a huge damp patch above the sofa (appreciate that can’t be cleaned away, but doesn’t leave the apartment as it’s presented in the photos).
WiFi also didn’t work, and the tv only had free view and streaming services, so very little to watch. Had planned to stream from our devices to the tv, but needed the WiFi to work to do this.
Mentioned both of these in the “first impressions” feedback I was asked for and heard nothing back.
Also given the need to pay an additional damage waiver (the only time I’ve ever been asked this on an airbnb booking!), all results in a booking/stay experience which was pretty average.

Good location
Where do i start. First impressions of the apartment were great, great location and price was reasonable for New Year’s Eve. On arrival the front door was already open and later found out did not actually lock. The entrance stairs to the apartment was damp, cold and dusty. The front door key lock was difficult to open, eventually managed it and then see the door handle was hanging off. Settling into the apartment, the toilet was disgusting, had stains in the toilet and had not been cleaned. The floorboards in the apartment did not fit and left gaps in between some of the boards which was a bit of a trip hazard and hard to walk on. The hooks on the walls were hanging off and we weren’t able to hang any clothes up due to fearing they would completely fall off. The shower was very spacious but had mold on the sealant and the bathroom air vent was absolutely full of dust. In the kitchen there was burn marks on the wall above the kettle, food still left in the sink and what looked to be damp on the wall above the sofa. Everywhere was covered in dust, the floors, the drawers. The apartment was freezing cold and unable to sort this out i messaged and recieved an automated response. I asked multiple times about the issues raised above to which i never got a response or when i did it was automated and did not response to any of my queries. Which i am sure i will have an automated response to this review.
The £25 or £250 deposit was also not stated upon booking which i believe should’ve been. I was quite surprised to receive a message stating i had to now pay £25+£10 administration cost or a £250 deposit!
It is a shame as the apartment is in a great location and could be lovely but is really let down by basic things.

Cozy and clean most areas, good location. Good view of the bridge. Good Facilities. Dog friendly. Customer services very friendly.
Alot of stairs. I didn't feel comfortable walking my dog at night as the stairs were dark and steep and the light didn't work until you got to the bottom.
The parking was for street parking and we couldn't find a W spot so we paid £16 for North Yorks Council parking for 2 days which was OK.
The rug had a stain on it and the sofa was soiled. They need to do a thorough clean. Not had deposit back yet and not heard anything. 7 days after.

The location was great for us, right in the centre of everything, if we needed to call back with groceries or anything whilst out and about It was just so easy. And the view of the swinging bridge was fab, would 💯 stay there again.
The only one small negative was trying to retrieve the keys, i found it a little difficult. I followed the instructions, after a minute or so…I heard someone upstairs so I knocked on to ask them, didn’t realise you had to open with a little force, but once I retrieved the keys it was so simple so would know for next time.

The access via a narrow, steep staircase is a health hazard exacerbated by very poor lighting. Access and egress in the case of a fire would be a nightmare. We are surprised the property has a fire safety certificate, if indeed it does? Such were our safety concerns that we checked into a local hotel and did not stay 1 night. We are still awaiting a refund.

(Modern Industrial Apartment)
The apartment was in a great location.
Overall decor was nice and modern.
Everything you need from an equipment point of view.
Great to have the parking vouchers supplied as parking is a big issue
Bed was very comfortable
Lovely big modern shower
Well equipped Kitchen
1. Property was hard to find, need to state that the entrance is on the left side of the Magpie Kitchen shop.
2. Front entrance palm reader was very temperamental.
3. No wifi for the first day, after phoning it had been changed but not updated in the apartment. (very annoying)
4. Parts of the fridge were broken and it was very noisy, sounded like a tractor(needs replacing)
5. Some mugs and glasses were dirty, had to clean them before using them.
6. Bedside lamp shades and bulbs very dusty
7. Paint peeling off the wall by the three windows
8. Main three windows looking out over the harbour were dirty, (needs a window cleaner)
The main issue was the noise from the apartment above the property. We could hear every movement and conversation. There were two sets of people staying during our stay and we thought the first people might have just been over nosey but the following day new people checked in and it was even worse.
It's a shame as the apartment is lovely and the location great , just lacking in attention to detail, which you get from privately owned accommodation and not run by a company. The noise unfortunately would put me off staying there again, which is a big shame.

The shower was a great and the bed was really comfortable.
There was no scratch card left when we arrived which was a pain. After 4 phone calls one was finally put in the key safety box the night before we were going home.
The heating wasn’t great, the towel rail was still not working despite other customers commenting in their review back in Sept 22.
The constant dripping outside the bedroom window was really annoying. Again this was mentioned in one of the customer comments.
The £25 Waiver charge wasn’t clear during booking which I think is a rip off, especially as not everything was in full working order.
Lack of clothes hanging space if you were to stay more than a couple of days.

The property matches the photos exactly, and is in a fantastic location. We stayed here for 4 nights and had a lovely time.
Pros-
Location: Fantastic views of the Abbey and walking distance from Whitby train station. You couldn’t be more central.
Large living area
2 bathrooms
Information guide provided with information on the property and surrounding area.
Clear instructions provided by hosts.
Cons-
Parking: while a permit was provided, we were unable to find an available W zone parking space and eventually parked a 10 minute walk away. This however, is a problem with Whitby itself and not the hosts.
Cleanliness: overall the property was clean, however there was an odd smell on arrival and some hairs were found under the duvets.
Only one toilet roll provided and no hand soap.
At no fault of the host, the property does receive a lot of noise from the streets/pubs below and seagulls, however this is noted on the listing and we still had a great experience.

Lovely apartment. In a great location.
Clean the windows. Clean the front door area. Clean the communal corridor. Fix the towel rail. Fix the underfloor heating.
Maybe get a duvet that isn't quite so heavy. Maybe listen to your guests comments as all of these have been mentioned before!

Beautiful apartment right in the middle of Whitby with great views, great value for money and lots of space for family of four plus a dog. The communication via phone was very easy and dealt with any questions I had. Would definitely recommend and would come again.

Location - we stay in Whitby every year and this was the best location we’ve stayed at so far.

We booked for two nights but only ended up staying for one night! the apartment is very loud due to having people above you and outside, there’s a pub right opposite where people were being sick outside the front door (aware this isn’t the owners fault).
The apartment wasn’t clean either with spiders being in the bedroom and it was dusty, it could do with a good deep clean!
I would not recommend staying if it’s due to rain as I was kept awake from the rain dripping on the windowsill, people above us kept us up all night too.

Gorgeous little flat, with an amazing view over the harbour. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Great location right in the middle of Whitby. Able to walk to everything with a great information book in the house. Definitely worth noting that it’s on the 3rd floor with very narrow stairs if carting all the stuff that comes with a toddler with you! But this is very clear in the listing.

The location is directly opposite the harbour in Whitby. It could not have been better. External appearances can be deceiving. You enter through a small door in a corner, directly off the street. Then up some narrow windy stairs (those with mobility issues may struggle). Once inside the apartment all is good. The place is huge, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Full kitchen, big TV, view of the harbour. Big comfy bed. Nearby the food is great and can highly recommend the Magpie Cafe and Trenches for fish and chips. Spent days exploring the winding streets of Whitby and up to the Abbey. There is an Irish pub opposite but we didnt hear a peep out of it. No noise issues despite being in the center of town. A short bus ride away is the lovely village of Staithes. 30 mins away. Great for a side trip and the BEST scampi I have ever had at the Cod and Lobster pub.
NOT THE FAULT OF THE ACCOMODATION PROVIDER: Parking in Whitby is a mess. After driving around for over an hour I eventually found a spot on North Cliff. This is near the Capt Cook memorial and the Whale bones. This then involved a trek with cases and all out gear to the venue. Not a biggie for the fit but would be an issue for the elderly or frail. On the second day I found a sop on the other side of the harbour by getting up at 05:30AM. But there is NO free parking close by. Be warned.

Apartment is exellent , only a couple issues ,
Extractor fan not working over hob ,
Local area ro apatment Can be a bit noisy in the evening , as it is the centre of Whitby , but can't fault anything else ,
Single beds need new mattresses , as they both slump in the middle to one side

Charming and modern flat with views of the swing bridge from the living room window.
Great location right in the heart of Whitby so prefect for tourist visiting Whitby.
3 flights of stairs may not suit older guest, but they have flats on floors 1 and 2 I think.

Good view of the town and within walking distance to the Cathedral and pedestrian streets and Cleveland Way.
Host and stay was very helpful with helping us to find the unit.
Unit was not clean. Unit is very hard to find. You cannot drive your car anywhere near to the unit. Have to park blocks away. There is a parking pass but you don’t get that until you get in the unit. Very narrow stairs are hard to bring suitcases up. Bar below unit is very noisy on weekends. People in unit upstairs and seagulls were very noisy all night long.

the property was in a great location with all the facilities you would need for your stay. including parking permits
we didn’t realise it was pet friendly. There were hairs everywhere. The only thing that had been done at this property was the bed had been made. it needed a thorough clean. you could hardly see out the windows for the dirt. when the upstairs apartment flushed their toilet water spilled in the shower cubicle which didn’t smell nice. The entrance/ lobby area didn’t give a good impression. A good hoover was needed.

Everything else. Even a fresh pint of milk waiting in fridge. :)
Small items missing: eg no toilet brush but a holder for one, no lid handle for coffee press , no frying pan but a lid for one! Very picky and with these replaced would have got perfect score.

The decor was lovely, we really liked the layout of the apartment- it was small and cosy but the perfect size for two people. The location couldn’t have been better, being positioned central to all the attractions of Whitby. Overall it was a lovely little apartment and we enjoyed our stay here.
Upon arrival it was evident there was spiders everywhere! The stairway up to the room was crawling with them which made it uncomfortable when entering and exiting the property, especially as they were so big! Inside the room was exactly the same; the first thing I spotted was a huge spider on the bedroom wall and then more and more. We went around the apartment catching all of the ones we could see which didn’t take long as they were very obvious- hanging from corners of the ceiling and sat on walls. In total we had to remove at least 10 before we could settle down. I imagine it is a problem With the building being used but I feel the ones in the room could have quite easily have been removed in preparation for our stay as they were large, obvious, and all over the place (impossible not to have seen). This was the one major problem we had with the property as it made us feel uncomfortable and we struggled to settle in.
Another issue we had was the heat- the room got extremely hot and humid. The first couple of days we stayed the weather was extremely hot so this couldn’t be helped. The third day however was very cool and chilly outside yet the room remained uncomfortably hot. We couldn’t understand why the room would just not cool down, we inspected the radiators and heating system (both were switched off) but couldn’t find a solution.
Lastly, the property information explained we would have coffee pods to use with the coffee machine, but these were nowhere to be seen leaving us unable to use this facility.

The apartment is in a lovely location with nice views of the swivel bridge. It is on the top floor and would be difficult with small children and adults that aren’t as mobile as they used to be, if taking a dog you have to be mindful of how many stairs you have to keep climbing and no grass within close proximity.

The apartment was comfortable, clean and extremely modern and spacious. It was situated in a great central spot. We thought it was a real home from home with everything available to use. The bed and couch were very comfortable too. Another benefit for us was that it was dog friendly.
The stairs were steep and plentiful as we were on the 3rd floor but we got used to them throughout our stay infact they were a good workout. The shower upstairs would benefit from a shelf for shower gel etc and the kitchen utensils are missing a pair of tongs...but that is just our opinion. The seagulls were very noisy but that maybe the time of year!

The outer door to all the apartments was a code access. The lock on the inside of the door is a Yale type lock and on one occasion the people who had entered before us had dropped the latch making the code access system inoperable and we were locked out and had to spend the night in our car. The 24hr emergency number was useless as nobody got back to us until 9.04am the next morning. When I pay for 7nights, I expect to get 7 nights, not 6 and a night sleeping rough.

Super flat in the heart of Whitby. Lovely fresh decor, clever use of space. Comfy and stylish furniture with everything you could need. Remember you really are in the midst of things so there will be pub noises in the evening, and of course seagulls all the time! Didn’t bother us but light sleeping children may struggle. Wifi patchy - that’s literally the only flaw we found! Really enjoyed our stay, great place to base yourselves. Look out for the Whitby deli up the road - preorder delicious meals to heat at home or lunch boxes to take out!

Excellent location right in the heart of Whitby town fantastic views of the river. Clean and modern apartment with all the facilities you need for self catering. Rooms are a decent size with underfloor heating. Welcome pack with all the instructions for all the appliances. Good size bathroom with modern suite. Comfy clean bedroom. Great communication via text/email regarding our stay. Pets welcome 🐕🐾 We have been visting Whitby for several years and have stayed in the most popular hotels/b&b's and the Golden Lion is by far the best we have ever stayed in. Definitely 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lack of wardrobe space, only 6 clothes/coat hooks ( 3 in the bedroom and 3 in hallway), Bedroom consists of bed, 2 bedside tables and chest of draws (3 draws). Its understandable that you can't' fit a wardrobe in but the bedroom would benefit from the removal of the hooks in the bedroom and replaced with a wall mounted clothes rail.

Very comfortable in all respects. The kitchen is great, with enough equipment to actually use it and cook meals. Great shower!
We struggled to get in on our first night, and had to call a couple of people for help. The door has an electronic lock with a display which says “show card” on it. In order to access the keypad to enter the code you do not need to show a card, but just cover the card reader with your palm. This was a little confusing, and could have been made clearer.

Friendly and prompt communication. Property was even nicer than expected, hosts really have thought about a lot and made the experience welcoming and relaxing. Coffee/tea/sugar/milk a lovely touch. Guide of the property and what's nearby really helpful. As with anywhere in Whitby we've stayed before, the seagulls act as your alarm clock, but you get used to it. No doubt we'll be visiting again.

Location was brilliant and the free parking was good. Very easy access and keyless which was even better!
The bed was extremely uncomfortable which put such a downer on our stay and we couldn’t wait to get back to our own! Which is such a shame because the location and place was beautiful. Could of done with spare pillows and a blanket. It was quite noisy, but I do not think it would have kept us up if the bed was comfortable as we would have probably slept through it.

The location was amazing, close to everything. Interior was lovely and had everything you needed.
The access at the main front door is a little misleading as there’s two possible key pads, one which is metal which holds something inside and a digital one which has the word ‘card’ on it on the door. So we presumed the code was for the metal box and would get the card to gain access…but if you hold your hand up to the digital key pad it lights up with numbers.
