Very clean fully equipped house
It was stated that the property was very dog friendly. I even called the company to ensure that was correct. When we arrived on reading the house rules it stated that the dog was not allowed in the living area of the accommodation with us and had to stay downstairs in a small room on its own. This was impossible.

The property was very clean and mostly as expected. We were provided with most things that were needed, i.e. utensils, seasonings, cleaning materials. There were no issues with heating or hot water.
The location was a bit of an odd housing estate, it didn't have the feel of a seaside holiday apartment. The road was very cramped to drive through, the available parking space was useful though. We had trouble with the front door most of the time, which was commented on several times in the guest book and the kitchen tap would keep running unless you remember to turn it off quite forcefully. It is listed as 2 bedrooms, however one of the beds is downstairs next to the front door in what is essentially an entrance hall. If I was to book this place for myself and a child, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a child sleeping next to the front door, whilst I was upstairs.

Children kicking a football against the property wall which caused disruptive noise and playing football in the parking area.
However it is housing estate and where can children play out.

Lovely house in a quiet housing estate with private parking.
Distance to the town centre. There was a shortcut which cut a good bit off the walk but it could only be used in good weather if it rained it turned into a mud track.

The property has its own allocated parking space, which was very handy as we hardly used the car once there. It's only a ten minute walk into Whitby town centre. The property was clean and tidy, and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook for yourself rather than go out.
There was no washing machine. We didn't find this a problem, but if you needed to wash some clothes I'm not sure where you'd find a launderette.

We liked everything. We had absolutely everything for our comfortable stay from comfy beds, equipped kitchen to very cosy and home like style, for example nice decorations, warm fluffy blankets. And extra bonus - several board games made our evenings especially pleasant.
This was our first time when we booked Host&Stay appartement, and because it was a private company, the booking process was different from what we usually used to have through booking.com. Usually there was straigh away process without any additional deposit or endless emails. For this particular booking there were quite many emails about payment details plus we needed to put additional (damage or something like this) deposit of 250 pounds prior our stay. Because we had never done this before it was a bit confusing and worrying. But probably this is a normal procedure for private companies. Anyway at the end we didn't have any problems with this lovely apartments and got our deposit back safely soon after we left apartment. So we definitely plan to book with Host and Stay again!

Good location, tidy, comfortable accommodation - suitable for our family of three.
We've stayed with Host and Stay before, and were disappointed to find that they now levy a £250 deposit with a £10 retention for "fees".
One of the reasons we booked this particular accomodation, was that the property was advertised as having a washing machine (and a drier) - this was not the case.
Air B&B kindly and professionally handled this, and provided us with a partial refund.
Provided for our stay - which was for three nights over the Christmas period:
3 dishwasher tablets
one cheap dishcloth
one tea towel
4 tea bags
4 sachets of coffee
Some may interpret this as pennypinching!

A lovely stay in the Coach house. The house had everything we needed for a short stay in Whitby. It was nice and quiet in a residential area with a really handy dedicated parking space. There’s no garden but it’s a short walk to some green spaces and the beach is nearby. It’s worth noting that the second bedroom is on the ground floor immediately as you enter the property. Overall, a really cosy spot for a relaxing stay.

As I walked into the house, I noticed how nicely decorated the place was and someone had gone to the effort to put up Christmas decorations, which added a nice festive feel to the place. The Coach House Retreat has pretty much everything you could need for a holiday, this place is probably best for couples, The dishwasher was a nice touch as it meant that I didn't have to do any washing up on my holiday.
The bed is comfortable and the shower is nicely high pressured. Which is rare I've found in holiday places, most places go for cheap, low pressure showers.
The Coach House Retreat is withing walking distance of Whitby town center and serves as a good launching point for places like Scarborough and York.
Ok, I don't have enough room to detail my complaints thoroughly, so I will keep this short and sweet.
I didn't hate this property, in fact I quite liked it. But there were things that annoyed me.
I will never book a Host and Stay property again. I got spammed by automated emails wanting me to pay a damage fee before my holiday. Then I got spammed by reminders about checking out, one in the afternoon after I'd left.
Extortionate fees, none of which are worth it. I think it was £40+ for cleaning, the place wasn't filthy but there were cobwebs around the kitchen, one really obvious dirty bit that I ended up dealing with because it annoyed me. Also, a Playstation game disk under the downstairs TV table. If I can see these things, surely the cleaners can. Also, the skirting boards by the door were dirty.
You have to pay £25 for damage insurance or a £250 deposit, which they take £10 of when they return it. I went to put my clothes in the chest of draws and the sliding door of the wardrobe fell off the runners. I didn't cause this to happen, this had been done by a previous guest and not reported. And judging by the amount of dirt in the wardrobe, the cleaners don't go in there. In fairness to Host and Stay, they did come and fix it while I was out after I reported it.
The radiators are rusted.
There are still bits of a previous set of blinds around the kitchen window.
No recycling option, I took it all home.
The front door lock is a bit dodgy, it took me a 5 minutes in the pouring rain to get in.
Like I said, I didn't hate this place. Surely making the place unavailable for a week or so to fix all the little flaws and more care from the cleaning crew isn't too much to ask. Sadly I won't be going back, so I'll never know, but if they sort out these issues, The Coach House Retreat could easily be a 8 or a 9.

Lovely little apartment very well maintained really comfortable. Parking out side the front door in a small court yard . Out of town centre but not to far away in a very quiet area.

2nd time we stayed but unfortunately it will be the last due to the check in/ check out times. Checking in at 4pm is far too late especially in winter when it gets dark so early. 6 hours to clean a small house is too long. The place is nice hence the reason why we’ve been twice although the parking space is tight. Walking to the town centre takes 15 mins at a good pace. Very quiet residential area. Would stay again if the check in time was 2pm. Never again at 4pm

Hidden payments, terrible company, and I have disappointment in booking.com for allowing this to happen and not help, do not use the scummy company, the final price is not correct, you agree on a price and then they tell you you have to add more to it or else you don't get in the application

It was a nice clean place to stay, but absolutely not pet friendly at all,no garden, there definitely should be a garden for a dog to be able to go into, like I said in book in place, this actual place should not be made pet friendly, just for humans I think.saves hassle that we experienced from the neighbour, after a long drive it’s the last thing you want, also there is no need to keep reminding us about what time to vacate the premises, I lost count how many times you said, including as soon as we arrived, could always make it of the evening before you vacate premises, I know it’s a business, but it should also be welcoming to the guests, and I felt very rushed ,before we started.

The location, ideal with our dog. Private parking in allocated spot off main road. Comfortable and homely.
It could have had a slightly better clean, but I am very fussy and work directly in holiday accommodation. However given how well it suited our needs we saw past this. I’ve given feedback, not a complaint as we had a lovely time.

It was clean and had nearly everything we needed.
The fridge wasn’t big enough for standing cans of lager in lol.
Noisy neighbours and also when the kids are playing football underneath the flat when the ball hits the underside of flat the flat shakes a little bit.
However this is out of the landlords control but maybe some more insulation on the floor.

Nice location in a housing estate easy to find with parking. Couldn't find shortcut to beach but still not a bad walk.
Unfortunately the bathroom + bedroom radiators were off, however much we tried weren't able to twist the dial, that evening we couldn't contact the hosts so remained cold. The next day we phoned getting an answer however it was a Sunday and knew it would be difficult to get a solution and were due to check out the Monday anyway.
Basic kitchen utensils but some were dirty on our arrival so had to clean a lot of stuff. There is a dishwasher though. There were no kitchen bin bags, no sponges/cloths for cleaning, and for a three night stay we didn't wish to buy a whole new cleaning kit. I did contact the company on air b&b about the bags however we got no response.
Have to spend extra on cleaning fees and you have to get accidental damage cover which is either an extra £25/£250 deposit. For the cost we probably wouldn't stay again but it's worth trying out for yourself

nice little comfortable flat on outskirts of Whitby
private parking space
the radiator didn’t work in bathroom
lots of automated correspondence before your stay re extras once booked, you can either pay £25 insurance or £10 admin and £250 returnable damage deposit but you don’t get your damage deposit returned until after 14 days of leaving the property, (it says in T&C it could be 3-5 or up to 10 days …I was told the reason for this is they don’t have any correspondence with the host to see if it has been cleaned and if everything was ok, no damage etc, they wait for 14 days and ‘if’ the host hasn’t lodged a claim you get your deposit back .. which didn’t feel very customer friendly so wouldn’t stay with Host & Stay again

We had a lovely stay in Whitby, a 10 min walk to the beach, there’s a bit of a short cut which the neighbours pointed out.
Just double check you read the small print as they do ask for an additional £10 administration fee along side a £250 deposit.
Alfredo

Lovely place, closer to the town centre than we expected. Very clean. It was chilly when we arrived but the central heating is very easy to use by just increasing the temperature in the thermostat. The house got hot in 10-15 minutes. Walking to town was quicker than we thought, around 10 mins at a good pace. Parking is very easy. The only downside was having to pay £25 extra no ensure we were covered for any potential damage we could have caused, which was very unlikely. The other option would have been to pay a £250 refundable deposit which weren’t happy about. So bear in mind you may have to pay that. The cleaning fee (£50) was a bit steep too. Still, knowing that we would book it again and probably will since we love going to Whitby every now and then with our little Westie

Lovely little flat with parking in a great location. Had almost everything we needed, would have been nice to have found the elusive fan given how hot it was!

The place itself was lovely, I’ve given it high marks because it was clean, comfortable, easy to use and we had a great time staying there.
It is a bit of a walk into town but then I didn’t properly look at the map so that’s actually my fault!
Despite this it only cost £5.80 for a taxi back and it meant that we could leave our van in the secure parking place and not worry about it.
I would happily stay here again.
Not much really. Obviously it’s a modern place so don’t expect anchors hanging off the walls, but it was very tasteful and everything worked perfectly.
It was just right for what we needed which was somewhere easy to use as a base for exploring the area.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing stay this may NOT be for you Property situated in a residential area consisting of young families who’s children congregate under this property (Coach House) to play ball games and skateboarding. Causing lots of noise. This is also where you park your car have absolutely no problem with families/children this is where they live after all !! But property needs to be advertised truthfully spoke to Host and Stay NOT interested. Secondly from our arrival until we left had NO Wi-Fi repeatedly rebooted modem and rang Host and Stay to be told to reboot modem showed No interest no solution or concerns No photos showing outside of the property because the entrance door opens onto car park/childrens play area Had to pay a kind neighbour to park my car in his parking area away from communal play area. Very poor service from Host and Stay if we would have known what this accommodation was likely we would have NEVER booked.

The neighbours kids and kids from the street aying ball n football using the walls around us to bounce the ball off standing on the door step shouting and being generally loud n inconsiderate after being politely told we was staying in the place for the weekend they still continued. It is a short walk from the beach (a map with a short cut walk is in the property). There is a Lidl a few minute drive away. Although there was milk tea and coffee etc available at the property. I would recommend.

Lovely property, perfect for a relaxing break. It is situated in a quiet residential part of Whitby which I found to be a big plus as there was no late night noise from pubs and bars. Having it's own allocated parking space was also a definite bonus. The property itself is really well decorated and feels like a home away from home.
