The cottage couldn’t be more conveniently located for the beach and the views from the living room and some bedrooms were beautiful. Unfortunately the attic rooms were unpleasantly hot during our stay. Some fans would really help. We also found the 4pm check in a bit unfair.

A really comfortable and spacious house that everything we needed, in an incredible location. Host was really friendly and always gave really clear instructions that meant that we didn't need anything from them while we were there.

We had a really lovely stay for a multifamily birthday get together. The house itself was comfortable and the perfect location for a beachy weekend. We all really enjoyed the view from the living room window especially. It was plenty spacious and comfortable for 3 couples and the babies. The only negative is we felt leaving just two toilet rolls, 2 dishwasher tabs, one tea towel, one j-cloth etc is a bit stingy. Personally we feel providing what is necessary to run the house for the entire time would be a better way to run a holiday house. Some items listed were also not in the house (e.g. high chair) which was a bit disappointing.

This would be 5 stars except the amenities listed included high chair, washer & dryer. The property did not have these and we travelled with a 10 month old & 3 other children. Luckily we packed enough clothes but only just. Disappointingly the host tried to debate that these amenities were never listed and changed the listing while we were there to reflect. I wouldn’t have expected the company to provide a washer dryer but at least own the mistake in the listing. This is a great property in a great location. Sandsend is really on the up!

Really nice house in a great location. Car park close by and easy to park out front and unload. House was clean and tidy and plenty of space (we had 4 adults and 4 kids). The attic rooms are perfect for the kids with the extra bathroom. Location is great with some great food in walking distance. Mary’s sandwich shop is amazing, best sandwich I’ve ever had! The host was really friendly, helpful and very responsive. Will definitely stay again!

A lovely place to stay in a beautiful village by the sea. The house is warm and welcoming, tastefully decorated with plenty of space on each floor, perfect for two young families looking for quick access to the beach. We had everything we needed in terms of equipment but it would be a good idea to take bin bags, dishwasher tablets and toilet rolls as we soon got through the ones provided (it was Christmas, after all). The information booklet is a little out of date in terms of local amenities- Mary’s Cafe and Fish Cottage not mentioned (both are excellent!). Still, these are minor issues that can easily be put right. In the grand scheme of things, this was a fantastic place to stay and I fully recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. We came with 5 adults and 3 children and the bedrooms were a good size and really handy having sinks in our rooms. House was clean on arrival although house is tired and could do with a a bit of decorating. However this didn’t affect our stay and would not stop us returning but don’t expect a show home! 2 bathrooms were recently renovated to a very good condition as was the kitchen. The kitchen was excellent equipped and had everything we could need. The kitchen is very small with only room for one person to be in there cooking. The dining room was a good size with plenty of seating for 8 but the living only had seating for 6 maximum so wouldn’t work if you were bringing 8 adults. Travelling with young children it was very handy to have washing machine, travel cot and high chair. The location is great and being able to see the sea from multiple rooms was a real treat. Be aware that on street parking is limited with paid car park nearby.

Good location right by the sea. You can hardly hear the street. At low tide you can walk on the beach to Whitby. During the week (October) you will find free parking, on weekends you may have to switch to the nearby parking lot, 24 hours for 7 pounds. It is an old house, which you can also smell clearly. The color peels here and there. The two bathrooms are clean and partially renovated. The four bedrooms are ok. On the 1st floor are two rooms with double bed. Above, there are two smaller rooms with 2 single beds each. Attention: If you have back problems, you should check the mattresses beforehand. Some are very soft. Plates, cutlery, glasses, cooking utensils are sufficiently available. The kitchen appliances are modern. The dining table downstairs fits 8 people. The relatively small living room next to it is not really. There is a wood-burning stove here. You have to provide your own firewood. Conclusion: We were there with 6 adults and would come back again.

We had a lovely time in Beachside, it was cosy, warm and great sea views. The Grandchildren loved the top floor bedrooms and all the beds were really comfy. The kettle stopped working during our stay and was replaced the next day by the agent. I was concerned after reading some previous reviews on the cleanliness of the house but we found it to be clean and everything in order

Very nice spacious accommodation is well located in a quiet location on the seafront. Free parking at night from 6pm to 8am is appreciated. Everything you need is available in the apartment. I recommend this cute place

The place was lovely, lots of space and a great location. The shower on the first floor wasn't working and the second floor stairs were too steep for one of my party who has limited mobility, so it wasn't ideal not having a working shower. Apart from that it was a great place to stay.

Great location. Lovely building Immediate beach access and lovely little bar and some cafe/restaurants nearby. Bus stop outside with great access to all local areas. Accommodation was not as clean as would have expected. But good communication with the hosts, very responsive and helpful. Offered a mid stay clean and a partial refund on the cleaning bill. Very receptive. Thanks

First of all. the positive. Fantastic location and very comfy beds. The accommodation is worn and tired. The toilets and bathrooms were dirty and in disrepair. It is a lot smaller than it looks on Air BnB and although it is in a great location and has limited sea views from the living room, I wouldn't recommend this place to guest with mobility issues (we had 3 older people with us that struggle with walking and stairs). It would be helpful if that was made clear in the description. We had slug trails in the property each morning. I understand it is an old property, but stopping the slimy things getting in isn't that hard to resolve. The kitchen is tiny so preparing meals is difficult when catering for more than a couple of people. We have used Host and Stay before and found that the properties were immaculate, so we recommended them to a friend who booked for their family in Whitby who also found the property below par. For the price we paid we expected much more than what we got.

The location of Beachside cottage was amazing, with only a 3-5 minute walk to the beach. The beds were comfy and the washer/drier a lifesaver with small children by the beach! The smart tv was unfortunately not very ‘smart’ with only a couple of apps working, which was a bit of a disappointment. It was lovely being able to see the sea from several of the windows. The property was a little tired perhaps, but had pretty much everything we needed in a holiday house.

Lovely decor and very near the beach. Quiet even though it was a bank holiday, although no local store and the pub shut on an evening for food and drinks. Great food at the fish cottage and walk across the sands to Whitby!
