Lovely, clean, soft towels
Clothes rails :)
No coat hooks! Plenty of space in passage for them
No full length mirror
No where with seating, socket and mirror at right height to get ready / do hair etc
The bed in the green wall bedroom was dreadful! Too low and the mattress had a massive rise and dip in it, very uncomfortable

The location.
Cannabis being smoked by occupent above us.
There are no parking scratch parking tickets to park off Flowergate.
Stairs to the apartment are not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
The shower is not easy to operate.
The kitchen lid bin was broken, which meant putting a weighted object on the lid to keep it closed, avoiding smells from rubbish.
Only 1 toilet roll. We purchased some more.
Drafty window in small bedroom.

Good location- clean, bright and light (it had been cleaned up since a recent visitor had found it in bad state - we had to open- windows to get rid of smell of bleach!) spacious lounge/ kitchen/ diner. Managed the two flights of stairs no probs but carried up minimum of stuff for two night stay.
Drainage from bathroom sink and shower ( mentioned by previous visitor too) still slow.
Would have appreciated use of non-slip mat for shower. And a brighter bedside lamp for reading. WiFi not strong so some additional key info inside rather than relying on the virtual guide book would have been helpful. No parking discs. ( But Cliff Street parking free overnight)
None-the- less enjoyed the stay.

Almost everything. The location is perfect.
I wasn’t told upfront about the damage cover clause. This seems a dishonest way to raise the actual cost of the stay. Parting with a £250 “bond” may not be possible for everyone. That said, £240 of it was quickly returned to my account a few days after my departure. The alternative is paying a fixed sum, which makes the apartment very expensive. However; I would happily stay here again. My inclusion of this point serves to pre-warn others looking at this property.
To reiterate; the location and standard of the apartment outweighed my frustration about the strange damage cover set-up. I have used the bond system before, but you usually get it all back, or the transaction is held as pending.

The location is excellent, the kitchenette is well equipped, the beds are really comfortable and the water temp/pressure in the shower is excellent. There is plenty of hanging space/coat hangers.
First impressions count, and our first were not positive. We had a huge struggle with the key safe, might just have been our incompetence, but there were four of us and we all had a go. Once we were inside there is a strong and unpleasantly foisty smell in the stairwell, the carpet is heavily stained, and there were discarded UHT milk tubs and torn paper on the stairs, presumably from someone's rubbish bag. These were still there when we left two days later, despite our seeing cleaners in both days. The couch in the lounge area creaked and wobbled so alarmingly when my wife sat on it (she's the lightest of us) that none of us dared use it again. The bathroom sink is cracked which is unsanitary, and the sink and the shower drain very slowly, to the extent that when my friends wife who has very long hair had a shower, she had to mop the bathroom floor afterward as it had overflowed. The WiFi is entirely unfit for purpose in a modern property. It drops out at irregular intervals. Sometimes you can't connect, getting a message that this wifi shares a resource with nearby networks and is either oversubscribed or you might need to restart the router, which we couldn't do as we didn't know where it was. The wifi is not powerful enough to support a connection in the main bedroom.

the apartment was excellent and in a great location. getting in/out was easy and the instructions were good. It was clean and well stocked.
There is no parking at the property, despite this being heavily suggested by the Booking.com website, so do not go expecting to get parked. The nearest free street parking is at the top of the hill on Upgang Lane, some 10-15 minutes walk away. Also, there is a hidden accidental damage charge that you are not told about until after booking.

Whitby is amazing, the Abbey was stunning. the locals are very nice. plenty of restaurants treachers fish and chips was the best I have ever had. the accommodation looked just like in the pictures but I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of it. it had not had a proper clean. the bathroom shower and floor was very dirty. I did reach out to host and stay and they did reply promptly with an apology also if I wanted them to send housekeeping over but I declined this because I had already wiped over things we were going to use. the dust was thick and would have gone all over our hanging clothes and clean bedding. lovely apartment and super location 5* but cleanliness 2*

Modern apartment in a very good location
The cleanliness was not up to scratch and the apartment was not clean to a good standard on arrival. This included unclean carpets, cuttlery, cabinets etc. The mattress in the main bedroom was broken and despite raising this issue, it was not resolved meaning we had to sleep on the sofa and floor for 2 nights.

We chose the property based on location and facilities, and we were very happy to see that the apartment was perfect. It’s such a central, convenient location, but quiet and comfortable with lovely beds, and a great shower. Flowergate is so well situated with fab cafes, bars and close to restaurants and the seafront.
No issues.

The location was fantastic.
I felt quite mislead by the property description vs what the property was actually like - in the Q&A the property said they provide a Parking Pass but when we asked the host we were told this isn’t true, so we spent a fair bit of money paying for parking during the week when that was a massive reason why I booked it. There are 2 flights of stairs to the property which aren’t ideal for anyone with mobility issues and my mum struggled with. The flat isn’t very well stocked - being your own toilet roll (1 small roll wasn’t enough for a family of 4 for a week); other than some washing up liquid there were no cleaning products, salt and pepper etc. It wasn’t the cleanest - the tea towel and fridge were both dirty, (don’t look under the bed!!), the front entrance was really gross with loads of pigeon poop but the alley was cleaned halfway through our stay. The description doesn’t make it too clear on excess fees which I will be careful in future to not let catch me out! You can either pay £25 non-refundable fee as a deposit or you can pay over £100 that is returned in 14 working days minus a £10 admin charge. All in all I felt pretty mislead by the property and it explains why it was cheaper than some stays.

Great place, quite close to the train station and the shore. The stair to the apartment was a bit of a struggle because of our big bags but other than that everything was smooth and very comfortable.
Great amenities, well equipped house and super comfortable and clean.

Location good.
But the alleyway where apartment was, was covered in pigeon poop.
The apartment was not, how I felt cleaned on arrival. A welcome pack is always a nice gesture.
No washing up liquid. No soap.
Pigeons were an issue. Nesting outside window and extremely noisy. Also party above us were dreadfully noisy. They tried to get into our apartment at 2am. Very loud and argumentative in early hours.

Nice clean apartment with nice touches like tea, milk, sugar, toilet paper, shampoo etc left for our arrival. TV with multi channels , Decent Wi-Fi, Great location
Beds were quite low and maybe needing a new mattress in one room but still okay, need something in place to keep the pigeons away from the entrance as there was a lot of bird droppings there

When we booked it did mention parking was available but it wasn’t very clear so I message the host and they told me there will be a scratch card in the property with instructions. When we went to use the scratch card there was a parking attendant present and he said this card would only be available for 2 days. As we were staying for 3 nights we would need more parking so I messaged the host again only to be told they do not provide parking so I asked the question why did you leave the scratch card in the apartment. The host said there has been a misunderstanding and they don’t provide parking and their website had not been updated. Very contradictory. Anyway the host said they would sort it and get back to me which they didn’t so this was very frustrating. Anyway we managed to park and pay for the rest of the duration of our stay. I feel you really need your be very clear on the parking situation when staying at the property and then there would be no confusion or misunderstandings.

The property was lovely
Once I placed my booking I was charged a £250 deposit plus £10 admin fee straight from my credit card along with the charge for the property. This was not detailed on Booking.com. I only stayed one night however, I had to wait 7 days after checkout for the deposit refund to be approved plus another 5 working days for it to go back onto my card. The admin fee of £10 was never refunded. I think this is appalling. Plus, you can’t check in until 4pm and check out is 10am. I was constantly hounded via text and email advising of this, even getting a text 9am in the morning saying I needed to check out by 10!
Nice accommodation but I would not recommend or stay again.

Loved my birthday stay here, not surprising as I'd enjoyed a previous stay in the flat above. Spacious and had everything needed. A small issue of having to chase lockbox email to get in to the property but the lady on the phone was friendly and immediately helpful. Wish Host&Stay would consider adding a few luxuries like with independent hosts in the future

The location is very good and in the middle of town, nice facilities and a great shower. Perfect for a short break.
The only issue is there are a couple of sets of stairs you have to go up to get into the property. Anyone with a mobility issue would find this hard.
The boiler is also in one of the bedrooms, and every time the heating switches on, you could hear it and get woken up. I would advise maybe putting some kind of sound proofing in the cupboard it's in to help with this.

The apartment was lovely and in a great location. the size for a family of 4 was also great as were the facilities, i.e. tea, coffee making facilities and toiletries.
There were a few scuff marks on walls that need attention.
I think 4pm is too late to get into the property, especially for one night stay. most travellers would aim to get there much earlier as they don't have long n the resort, a 2pm arrival is late enough, and as a seasoned traveller, 2pm is standard.
The TV on the wall could also do with being hung on a movable wall stand, it was difficult to see the TV from all areas of the seating area.
I would also prefer to have one final cost when booking accommodation, the security charges were confusing and very high. I will be more careful if booking an apartment in the future

The flat itself is great. The beds were comfortable, the shower was great, and having a kitchen was also great. There are 2 things to be forewarned about with this location. 1: parking is very limited to certain zones and that may mean you have a 20 minute walk from your car to the flat. 2: it isn’t included in the listing but they will message you and ask for either a $250 refundable deposit or $30 damage waiver to be able to finalize your booking. This information is NOT included in the listing, but probably should be. It wasn’t an issue for us, but if someone does the non refundable booking, it may be an issue for them considering that info isn’t available until after you’ve already paid and assume your booking is set and final. Overall we enjoyed the flat and the location, but that deposit thing felt a little bait and switch.

Lovely apartment.Very clean, everything you need apart from a set of tongs. Only problem was walking into the building was very smelly, and full of pigeons muck and feathers all over the stairs. This is due to the pigeons nesting on the window ledges on the apartment. I was talking to a lady who was cleaning all the pigeon muck up down the passage where you had to go down to the apartment, she owned a house down the same passage at the end. She was saying they need to get a gel do the pigeons don’t nest there instead of the spikes that there have up.
Key safe was also very hard to open, a man had to do this for us on arrival it was another guest checking in at the same time.

very clean and nice - very central to everything-
Bed in the larger room, the mattress had a big dip and you tend to roll out of the bed little lumbar support which did cause pain i used some cushions' to bolster up - Tv signal was intermittent - the duvet was far too hot for July but there were no other options like a blanket instead- Also a knife that cuts bread would be really helpful. A lot of pigeon droppings at the doorstep which you had to avoid as it could get all over the stairs- didn't quite believe that all rubbish could be put together and be separated afterwards by the recycling centre

The apartment is right in the centre of Whitby, so great for feeling part of the town. The bedrooms are at opposite ends, so good for privacy, and the kitchen is well equipped with pans and plates (but no oil, salt or pepper). The living room furniture is a bit wobbly (which has been mentioned in previous reviews) and they could definitely do more about the pigeon poo - hanging nets over the window and entrance alley would stop the birds nesting and dropping their goo - because there is A LOT of it. But otherwise a really good stay and the hosts are very communicative.

Apartment 2 was in a great location for our needs. Overall the apartment was clean however the walls were covered in marks in each of the rooms, kitchen and hallway. Capets had stains, quite big noticable ones and the furniture was falling apart. Three slats came loose in the main bedroom bed. I had previously read about this on another review but assumed they would have fixed it by now.
The sofa felt really unsturdy as did the dining room table and chairs.
Something which is not the hosts fault was the pigeons. If you are a light sleeper, do not stay here. Even with ear plugs you could here the pigeons nesting on the window outside.
Overall, this place is good but probably not worth the price we paid.

Although a lovely property and in a great location , the host neglected to leave a scratch card for parking . We assumed we would be able to quickly get in on arrival and pick up the parking permit as there was space outside the apartment . However this resulted in a £25 parking ticket after 5mins in the property. So not a great start ! I phoned the owners who were not able to deliver a card that night …pointless as we left the next morning .
The apartment is well equipped and the beds were really comfortable . We did however have to wash wine glasses before use as they had lip stains on them which annoyed me as there is a £60 cleaning fee charged at booking also . I have also never had to pay a damage protection fee in any of the Airbnb properties I’ve stayed in over the years. Didn’t feel I got value for money on this occasion .

Overall, whilst we didn’t spend that much time in the apartment. It was comfortable and quiet. Shame we couldn’t extend the check out, which is quite early at 10am.
A few issues locating it. It’s above a shop so the entrance is down a side alley which isn’t obvious.
Parking is limited. Able to drop bags close to entrance but then had to find parking away from property but they do provide a parking voucher, it wasn’t really an issue for us.
The boiler for heating & water is located in the main bedroom, was a little noisy but we just turned it off.

The appartment was very nice and modern.
Well positioned close to shops and the river.
The outside door to the apartments was splattered with pigeon droppings, not a good first impression.

The apartment was modern and well stocked with everything you'd need for a stay.
The flat is central with easy access to the town.
The shower was excellent.
The outside entrance is dirty and covered in pigeon droppings. The area around the door was particularly bad.
The alley way is also very dark and doesn't feel particularly safe when you come back late at night.
The stairway is very steep and very narrow.
The flat itself needs a lick of paint and looks shabby in places.
The slats on the main bed had all fallen off the frame and we had to fix that before we could get into bed.
Most of the spikes to deter pigeons on the bedroom window sills had fallen off, so there was a constant noise of pigeons on the window sills, especially from 5am onwards!!
The noise from the street is quite apparent and we were woken at 3am on our 2nd night by an aggressive domestic argument in the alley way at the back of the building.

Really modern apartment. Accept that parking bit restricted. Great kitchen and utensils supplied.
The entrance to the property. Unfortunately, front door spattered with pigeon poo. Also second bedroom pigeons a bit noisy when settled on the window sill at night. Parkings bit restricted but we found a small car park 5min walk away (had to pay). Would have to drive round a bit to find allocated parking options or park further out.

Great location, right in the middle of Whitby. Really comfortable bed and good facilities.
Parking is a bit tricky in Whitby so had to park quite a few streets away but that seems to be the way it is in a town like Whitby.

Memory foam mattress uncomfortable and seen better days. slats on bed not fitting and coming out.

Location. Nice that milk was left in fridge as we arrived late, cleaning products provided (except brush and dust pan).
Foisty smell at lower level staircase (possibly as it didn’t look as if carpet had been cleaned for a log while). Small issues with cleanliness (lamp in large bedroom covered in dust, dining table had cup marks on and when I cleaned table top with clean cloth couldn’t believe how dirt it was and two dining chairs had spilt food on them, (easily washed them off by not something you would expect to have to do). Pigeons ‘nesting’ on sills outside bedroom window. I paid for extra 4day parking for my brother and only got 2day one.

Great location. Really nicely decorated with lots of useful amenities.
It wasn't very clean. There was sand on the floor and the cooker had been previously used and left with grease all in it. Also, the bed in the larger bedroom was broken - the slats had fallen off.

Location was excellent close to everything. Place was spotless
Think the only downside was the parking, could take u anywhere from 5 mins to half an hour to find a space in zone w0

This apartment was absolutely stunning, modern, clean and amazing facilities. The location was incredible for exploring Whitby. Beds very comfortable, shower powerful and hot, clean linen and well stocked kitchen. Communication with the hosts was professional consistent and clear. We would have stayed much longer if we could!
The only difficulties we had were with parking which wasn't too bad but we ended up a few streets away and had to do a couple of trips to drop off our luggage up steep stairs. It wouldn't be manageable for someone with mobility difficulties. For a longer stay a wardrobe would be welcome but it was fine for a couple of nights.

Wasn't sure of parking situation and had a fine although we were parked in a W zone

the location was ideal
key pick up/drop off was hassle free
there was parking nearby
would have benefited from more hanging space in bedrooms and hallway.
no pint glasses.
crockery needed a good wash.
one of the beds was not fit for purpose - slats kept dropping out and it was very low to the floor even though there appeared to be feet for it in the cupboard.
window pane fell out onto me.

Modern, stylish flat, in a perfect location to explore all of Whitby. The flat was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed.
5 minute walk down to the harbour to access everything; it is on a bit of a steep hill but we managed with our 3yo and her pushchair.
Parking can be a little tricky but not impossible and parking permit scratch cards are provided or there is the harbour long stay car park only 10 mins away.
We loved our visit and the flat and will definitely love to stay again soon.

Excellent apartment in terms of location and decor, I was so pleased.
Disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment overall. It was ok, but not great. Dusty bedside cabinates, blinds and window sils dusty, mirrors smear marks, kitchen bin dirty, floor in kitchen crumbs crumbs in cutlery draw. Bathroom a few hairs. Attention to detail lacking and the communal entrance/staircase and carpet for the four rental apartments was filthy which let it down. The bottom bed sheet in the main king bedroom was ripped which wasn't noticed by myself till the morning after as it was on the opposite side to the side I'd slept on and surprised it wasn't notice when the sheet was put on. If the cleanliness was better I would be back in a heartbeat but this is my honest review.

Very modern, clean and comfortable accommodation
The access to the apartment is a favorite roosting place for pigeons so difficult to avoid the inevitable droppings.
Also the heating boiler is in a cupboard next to the bed in the back bedroom which comes on during the night even when the heating isn't on.

Very easy to find and the keys we’re waiting.
The communal areas are tired and need a good clean. The beds were in a poor condition, the master bed felt like it had collapsed and the other bed needs attention as it squeaks whenever you move.

I would definitely stay here again. The apartment was lovely and clean. We had everything we needed, even down to milk in the fridge. The location was great and ideal for exploring Whitby on foot with all local attractions nearby. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to others.
We were fine with the parking but could see how it might be tricky at busier times of the year. I was on my own with two kids so I'd recommend parking for an hour or so at the nearest pay and display car park. (West Cliff wasn't busy at all) then coming down to the apartment to get your permit so you can move your car to the W Zone spaces for the rest of your stay. There is another little car park closer to Flowergate but it was full when I tried to get into it.

excellent, central location. beautifully presented with almost everything you could want.
Nothing much but a few things just felt missing. There was no way of drying washed dishes, one of the bedrooms had a glass panel in the door which meant it wasn’t entirely private.

Beautifully decorated and equipped and immaculately clean with super comfy beds
The stairs were the only thing that were hard work, but that was unavoidable in such a central location in a nice shopping area

A brilliant stay in a lovely apartment! Good, clear information from Stay in the lead up to our trip made self-check in easy. The apartment is in a great location, was spotless upon arrival and had everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked an extra night and the Stay team were really helpful in sorting this out for us!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Whitby, despite the bad weather. Apartment 2 was extremely warm, comfortable and well appointed. The apartment was in an excellent position to enable us to walk everywhere in Whitby. We would not hesitate to use STAY again.

Excellent central location. Stylish and modern with nice furnishings. Two negatives - Firstly, the stairs are very steep up to this second floor apartment which we struggled with as we had luggage for three nights. Secondly, there are pigeons which live on the windowsills near the bedroom windows which start coo-ing at sunrise - so expect an early start to your day!
