Excellent location, modern apartment with all the facilities you could need. Well stocked kitchen , even a coffee machine. Comfortable seating ,stylish decor. Spotlessly clean. Brilliant view of tge Abbey
Light in bathroom on a timer - a little frustrating when showering or shaving. Could do with a couple of hooks to hang coats. Also a little shelf in shower cubicle to hold your soap shampoo . Only minor adjustments.

was a really nice place to stay but for the amount we payed it didn't feel very personal of a location, alot of the air bnb hosts tend to be very accommodating but all the messages were very auto and there was nothing in the room to greet us which didn't add any touch of personality. for the accident and damage amount you pay for insurance almost feels like a set up as I we was worried the whole time as the furniture wasnt the most sturdy, the sofa feels abit jenky me and my friend are are slim so I do worry anyone bigger then us may end up breaking a leg then may end up been charged for this?, also the bar stool was damaged on arrival and stains in the bedroom. very nice views and location amazing but wish it wasn't priced as high with the lack of personality? honestly though that's an easy fix it is a beautiful home

Overall Abby Haus was a great choice for a short stay away. The apartment is easy to access from a security perspective but is up steep steps so worth being aware.
The condition of the flat isn’t exactly like the images with some staining on carpets, dirt under the sofa and in between the cushions and poor care on some hard fixings. But overall good.
Easily walkable to lots of cafes and bars. Would recommend for future guests and also suggest a deep clean to the owners.

Some may ask why I chose to stay here again after my last visit in July. Well we had already pre booked so thought maybe they’ll have improved issues. They THANKFULLY have amended the carpet to flooring in the hall & fixed the main door locks. Props to that.
BUT broken glass left under the sofa was extremely dangerous to crawling baby and dog. Also empty water bottle under bed… do you not have cleaners check these key things?
Host&Stay correspondent Charlie as per usual very apologetic for all issues but feels very fake in communication and nothing is ever actually resolved. We pre booked when they had parking (which was a big factor in our choice of property having a dog and a baby) but they decided to get rid of this amenity … think given we had pre booked this should have been honoured.
Bathroom time sensitive light is a nightmare for getting up and waking the baby! A lamp in the bedroom for less direct light would be ideal!
Again why only 3 plates / forks? No glasses? Uh.

We loved the cleanliness of the flat. Apart from some stains on the bedroom carpet to which I did take pictures of and report.
The view of the Abbey ruins.
The location was great about 10-15mins walk to Whitby centre
There was an issue we never got the scratch cards for parking like we have at other stays so it cost us a lot if money for the everyday parking

Location is excellent. The flat is decorated to good standard; it is comfortable and has a nice feel to it. The view of the abbey is amazing.
Was not thrilled with having to pay an extra insurance. Parking is 10min away and street access narrow. The bedroom is a bit small. The bathroom sink was stuck on closed, so no way of using it. Worse of all, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, for no apparent reason; it resulted in an unpleasant last night.

Host & Stay were super communicative and I felt really confident checking in that someone would be available should I need help. They were in touch at every step of the way and even provided some great recommendations for a birthday meal.
A couple of things were missing that said would be provided (cooking oil, S+P) which was a shame.
Unfortunately the time of year meant we had some noisy seagulls outside the bedroom in the early hours! But the location was great and we were super close to some great coffee spots/bars, and a short walk to the seafront.
The bathroom could’ve been a little cleaner, but overall it was good and the toiletries/teas/coffee pods were a nice touch. It also took us til the last day to locate the iron as it’s in a cupboard with no handles!
Overall a good stay with an amazing view of the abbey, and a great location.
PS Ditto (a few doors down) is a must-try if staying in the flat. Amazing meal!

Had to pay £250 extra refundable damage waiver which they cheekily don’t message information about until you’re too close to cancel.
Out of the £250 they keep £10 of it as an ‘admin charge’ which is just ludicrous.
Huge black stains all over carpets in landing and bedrooms.
Living room windows sealed shut so it’s about 40C with sun blaring into it.
Wouldn’t return

Location was great. Nice local shops and pubs.
Well equipped kitchen which included dishwasher tablets and coffee pods/tea bags also a handful of milk sachets.
Bed is reasonably comfortable. However, the seagulls are noisy all night (this cant be helped).
Nice and spacious living room with a fabulous view of the Abbey.
Stairs from front door up to the apartment are fairly steep.
Numerous amount of large stains on the areas with carpet. Could do with a deep clean.
The ensuite shower room had a light sensor. The sensor isnt positioned well so the light would turn off when i was at the toilet/sink area.
Stain on sofa and cushions.

The appartment is in an ideal location. Probably the highlight. The living/ kitchen space is very modern. Lots of room for lounging & great tv channels (Netflix etc. logged in). Bedroom is lovely, nice comfortable big bed. A modern bathroom .
HOWEVER no information that the flat is up several steep staircases — advised we have child (baby) so getting the bags and the pram up there daily was a major challenge.
Cleanliness an issue. Dead bugs on window ledge, dust and crumbs on counter tops. Lack of storage for clothes. Lack of kitchen equipment for guests — only glasses were 2 large beer glasses and 4 Prosecco glasses 😂.
Says tumble dryer in listing —this is not true. Messaged Host to see if dryer is a rack and where it is.. advised they don’t have one and they never explained why their listing has a dryer. Very strange and unhelpful.
Promised scratch cards for parking from host. None provided and lack of communication from host meant we had to go to air bnb support.

Fab location! A shame about the stains on the carpets and the door to the apartment being practically broken, meaning we couldn’t lock the door during our stay. I did contact to see if this could be looked at but it wasn’t during our stay? Hopefully it has been sorted now!

Great location and view from the apartment of the Abbey. The bay window was a lovely view although needed cleaning and shame it did not open as hot very humid when hot! The carpets were covered in marks however they were hoovered nicely.
The kitchen was nicely stocked and was a nice addition of dishwasher tablets.
It was not mentioned about three flights of stairs to get to this apartment so may be worth taking into consideration when booking. The lock is very difficult to use when opening the door - took multiple times every time which was a pain and did not seem very secure.
The apartment is very spacious and we enjoyed our stay overall. Especially that it was pet friendly :)
It’s also worth noting that there is no parking, there is a car park very close but costly when you want to stay for longer than a day. When we have previously stayed we have had a scratch card and been able to park for free on the streets, this may be worth investing in future.

A perfect flat to pop into Whitby. Fabulous location!!
The flat was clean and easy to access when we first arrived. Tea and coffee making facilities (although no cutlery at all - so strained the teabag with my fingers 🙈)
Myself and my daughter had a great time and will definitely be back! LOVED Whitby!!

Overall a lovely venue, very clean and super good location. However, upon booking, we had to pay a non refundable damage deposit which we were unaware of so weren’t too happy - either £25 nonrefundable or a £500 cover which was refundable… additionally they were very strict about checkout times and appeared at our door within 10 minutes of 10am, which felt very rushed.

Centrally located, bright modern apartment.
The first things you see when you open the door are two huge stains on the carpet. There is another one on the bedroom carpet. The fridge and microwave had not been cleaned. There were dirty cupboards with used items in them. Chopping boards and the one wine glass was dirty. When I contacted customer service, they did offer to re-clean and replenish missing items, but this was late in the afternoon and we were out for the rest of day. We were checking out the next morning, so it seemed pointless. Definitely not the standard I was expecting.

Good location
Dirty hallway to get into the property.
Was ok once inside the apartment.
Not the cleanest place but ok windows are dirty and carpets marked plus setee marks on it.
Hosts are disorganised email you check out 12 noon then text saying 10am so all over the place. We left early after a short stay and would not go back.

Unfortunately, whilst staying here we had no working heating or hot water until the following afternoon, meaning we spent the majority of our first night and only full morning, trying to sort the issue, really dampening our visit. There were also issues with nails sticking out in furniture seats, faulty light and dirty glasses/plates/utensils.
I raised our concerns at the time and after our stay, requested a partial refund in light of these issues, through both air bnb and host and stay directly. I have received very little communication and 11 days on still not received a resolution. I understand some issue can’t be helped, but the handling of them after can be and I have been really disappointed with their response. I hoped it would be resolved prior to me writing this review, so I could make a positive comment on their handling of the issue, but they haven’t.
Hopefully they will finally respond with the partial refund of the £92 I requested and can reply to this comment if so.

Would have been even better had there been some cleaning materials in order that I could have wiped down kitchen and bathroom before leaving. Also a vacuum cleaner would be useful. A bit miserly on the provision of tea, coffee and milk only enough for two cups of each.

Lovely apartment with good view of the Abbey. Easily accessible for the harbour, old town and all areas of interest in Whitby.
The bathroom light is on a timer which is very annoying as it constantly turns off when you're in the shower.
Our experience was ruined at the end as the 'helpful' guidebook and message sent via the Airbnb inbox stated that checkout was at 12pm, however about 9am we got a message telling us to vacate at 10am. Whilst polite in their responses Host and Stay did not accept their error, despite seeing it in writing, and told us we needed to leave straight away and then threatened to charge us for late check out. Really poor customer service so I'd recommend triple checking what time they would like you to leave in case they spring an earlier time on you

It was close to the centre of Whitby and had the facilities we needed for our stay.
It was very noisy, not from outside noise, but from the apartment above. The stairs for the upstairs apartment were right next to the bedroom and very noisy. Cream carpet on entrance with no mat is a bad idea. The apartment was not cleaned vey well the hard floors weee sticky and the carpeted area was full of bits of fluff and generally dirty.

The location was fabulous, in the neighborhood atop the hill in Whitby. The flat was very nice, clean, and mostly well-stocked.
There were a couple of things missing: hand soap in the bathroom, washcloths, curtains or blinds in the hallway, and a blanket (only the duvet on the bed). The freezer had been left open and the resulting ice buildup made it unusable.
Additionally, the listing does not mention that the flat is on the third floor. The staircase is steep and musty (there was a note mentioning a recent leak). Anyone with mobility issues would not be able to stay here.
There was some conflicting information (that is supposed to be fixed) about check-out time but at least the host company was responsive. Be sure to make note of the required security deposit that is not included in the booking price.
Overall, despite several hiccups along the way I still greatly enjoyed my stay here.

The property isbn an excellent location near all amenities and short walk to sea front. It is very bright and modern with a well equipped kitchen. It looks like not long been renovated.
On entering the hall carpets not dirty but filthy. I understand lots of traffic on stairs but it is not a good first impression. The apartment had dirty floors throughout with dog biscuits left near bin and bedroom carpet dirty and not been hoovered.

Brilliant location and really impressive, stylish apartment! We LOVED Whitby and found this to be a great base for our short visit - fantastic view of the Abbey from the living room window.
Parking is simple enough and you’re provided with a visitors scratchcard pass for use in “W” zones - we found the closest of these zones to be very busy for the majority of the time, so used a paid car park 4-5 minutes from the apartment at a somewhat reasonable £8 per 24 hours.

Location amazing. The rooms were comfortable.
Holiday ruined by host and stay. We arrived early at 14.30 and checked to see if the key was there so we could unpack the car which there was. Another couple arrived at the same time and they also entered the property.
No parking scratchcard. Promised for 4pm then 6pm then the next day. Received a parking ticket and even though they said they'd pay as it was there fault they wouldn't. Had to borrow a parking disc from a shop and change the time every 3 hours which stressed us out for a full day!
No cutlery. Blood stains on bedding. Poo not flushed in toilet! Posh coffee machine had no coffee pods so quite useless.
Wouldn't stay anywhere host and stay have again. Their couldn't care less attitude is disgusting and only offered 20% on next stay even though I told them never again. Hope the owner reads this to see how their beautiful property is been compromised.

This was a nice place to stay for my wife and I and our baby boy. It wasn’t perfect for the baby due to the hard surfaces in the main area making it difficult to find a safe place to put him, but that was in the description so wasn’t the fault of the host. A couple of small gripes- the bin under the sink wasn’t emptied from the last guests. The apartment didn’t have many supplies and we had to go out to get some kitchen sponges and bathroom supplies. And the bins at the end of the alley were full when we got there.
Otherwise it’s a nice apartment in a lovely area of a lovely town. Communications were fast an excellent from the host. Many thanks

Clean and modern apartment in a great location. Comfy bed and decent appliances.
All nearby street parking is permit only and instructions for how the parking works and how to use the permits should be made much clearer before check in.
We were only given one 2 day permit for a 3 night stay. Trying to organise a permit to be dropped off was quite stressful and proved to be too difficult for the team to arrange so we ended up paying for a public car park for the last 48 hours. Making numerous phone calls to arrange for parking that should have been provided was quite frustrating in what was otherwise a nice stay in Whitby.

Beautiful flat as described in photos, we love the decor but it was not clean at all. Carpet had not been vacuumed and worktops had not been wiped. Walls and ceilings are paper thin, you can hear everything.
Not accessible at all if you have a pram or are disabled. Stairs are very steep and narrow so it’s very difficult to get luggage in and out.
Great view out of the kitchen window if you can see passed the bird poo and excessively dirty windows.
Such a shame we left a night early because of the noise from the flat below and above.

Lovely place, exactly as it looks in the pictures, with a great view of the abbey on the hill! Plus lots of cafes close by, and only 5 minutes into the heart of the town, pubs etc. Bed super comfy too, and a spacious shower. Kitchen was clean and living room is huge.

This was a lovely retreat in a busy seaside town. The clean, uncluttered, yet comfortable setting was quiet and restful. Away from the noise and bustle of the waterfront, yet easily within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do. The kitchen made it so we didn’t have to go out for every meal and the living area was just right for relaxing after a full day of hiking and exploring the town. The bed was very comfortable. Only slight downside was that the water in the shower wasn’t warm at all, but maybe that’s just a British thing. Also, finding parking was a bear. But that’s more about Whitby itself than this place in particular—parking is at a premium. But once we got there, we never moved the car. There really is no need for one unless you want to tour the countryside, but even that can be done on foot as the Cleveland Way runs right through Whitby. Strongly recommend as a place to spend some time in this town.

Good location
Overall the property looked tidy and aesthetic, although the cleanliness was really poor.
The kitchen cupboards had wine stains on them.
The bathroom door doesn’t work as it has dropped on the rails.
There was only one normal glass available.
There were 3 plates in the property, and I think the 4th was on the doorstep outside the front door.
There was food in the kitchen plug.
The coffee machine still had spent capsules in the deposit bin.
The waste bin had waste in it when we arrived.
i attempted to discuss with the property although I have not had a response.

Were not fully briefed on the parking & ended up with two parking fines in two days ……NOT IMPRESSED!!
Also the bedroom window was not fitted properly & was blowing a gale!!

The property is in a great location close to coffee shops, pubs, shops. Only a short walk to the front and very well presented in terms of layout and decor. Has a lovely view of the abbey on top of the cliff from the living room window. I have stayed with Host & stay previously and their properties are very well presented.
When we arrived there were rubbish to the front of the property and a badly stained hall carpet. I did report this to Host & Stay and they offered to have someone come over to clean the carpet which we declined due to the inconvenience as it was only a short stay, but they did send someone to remove the rubbish later that day.

Fantastic location, no parking but lots of car parks nearby. Clean and bright rooms. Only issue is bedroom window needs some attention as it's unstable and letting a draft in. But overall great and will be back

Living area was nice, airy and great facilities. Bed was clean and comfortable. Has been a very good apartment at some point.
Carpet was absolutely disgusting. Heavily stained throughout the hallway and into the bedroom. Cleaning seemed rushed with finger marks and stains around taps, switches, cutlery etc. Finally the communal area was dirty and smelly.

location was excellent. comfy bed
severely stained carpet when you enter the flat and poor storage facilities. tiny wardrobe with only 4 hangers. we didn’t unpack

location was perfect and the living space was spacious and ideal for a few days. key safe was easy to use and instructions for property perfect
unfortunately on entrance into apartment the carpet is very stained with dogs wee. the bathroom light although motion sensor a great idea … you move in bed and light comes on, the bedroom window isn’t fitted properly so draught n noise comes through. a couple of side tables would make a big difference beside the bed as room for them. and a couple of blinds in hallway for privacy would bonus

Quite disappointed with this apartment. On entering the stairs up to the flat the carpet was missing which made the steps quite dangerous, it also smelt really damp. The flat is nicely decorated but there are big stains all over the carpet from the hallway right through to the bedroom. The windows in the bedroom and kitchen don’t open and it was boiling while we were there so that was a bit of an issue. The shower doors don’t close properly so water goes everywhere and there’s no where to hang wet towels or anywhere to really put clothes away. No bedside tables or lamps. A glass was broken and generally the place needed some TLC. Great location although parking was an issue. Could be a really nice place to stay but was overpriced for the condition of the flat.

the location was fabulous, in the centre. On a lovely road and great views from the window of the Abbey. off street parking available.
lack of storage in bedroom, no draws, had to leave clothes in case.

really good location. spacious inside , amazing shower and really comfortable bed. kitchen well equipped
basics were missing that have been on previous reviews and not addressed. it was really hot, no windows could open, internal doors didn’t close properly and there was a washing machine, but no line or portable hanging clip to dry anything.

Really close to everything. Great views from the apartment. Had a few niggles but the staff were so attentive and sorted everything to the best of their ability so quickly. We'll equipped with everything we needed for a perfect stay
Could do with a carpet clean as its abit grubby. Some space to put clothes away would have been great

The flat was lovely, well laid out and had everything we needed for our short break. Sofas and beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was small but functional, and we only needed it for breakfast / drinks. It's on a small shopping street, but wasn't too busy.
Finding it is quite difficult. Owners should consider putting a number on the door, as the numbering in the street is not standard. No parking, and though a disc is provided, be wary that there are different zones in Whitby. You cannot park outside of the flat as it's in the wrong zone, so we, like many others fell foul of it and got a fine. The lock to the Abbey Hus flat kept jamming and took multiple attempts to unlock. This is a hilly location, so I would make sure that you are mobile enough to get around. These were all very small points for us though, so don't let it put you off, this is a fantastic holiday flat

The location was excellent with easy reach to everything. The apartment itself was very nicely decorated and had everything we needed for a lovely stay.
Broken windows (especially in the bedroom) we’re a bit of a security concern. The bedroom window was large and could have easily been pushed open from outside for someone to gain access.
We also found the apartment to be quite noisy when the upstairs apartment was occupied.

Stayed two nights, good communication with host about getting into the apartment and information pack that was sent to me via messages was great, this was very helpful for the parking. Apartment very clean, everything you need is im there. great location just a few minutes walk to centre. would definitely book again

The location was in a good place- easy to reach the town centre but unfortunately I suffer from health problems and cannot manage to walk uphill which meant we hade to get taxis. I didn’t realise this when I booked.
I would have liked some cushions on the sofa for support.

location was really good and central to Whitby attractions.
The carpet on walking into the apartment and in the main bedroom was not clean which didn’t give a very good initial impression. There were also dead insects in the welcoming booklet.

Stay started really well - lovely location and apartment has everything you need. Rang the company for instructions on parking. They talked me through it so Parked the car and left it at that.
On the first morning, we woke up to a leak from the tap in kitchen. Rang company to report it. Nobody came to fix it in our stay so we spent the time emptying the pan we put beneath it and cleaning up spillages. Bathroom light is on the most sensitive timer so it is just on the duration of the stay - it flicking on and off in the night is really annoying.
Finally, on the morning we left, had a £50 parking ticket on my car despite me following their instructions step by step. Rang company who admitted they should have given me a different parking permit but followed up with the fact they’re not liable to parking charges… so basically, pay the £50 yourself despite it being our mistake.
Really disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend.

Where to start with this one. Was looking so forward to staying here as the pictures are beautiful.. it’s obvious it’s quite a new apartment.
Well! I got there and check in was good, key safe to the property… great location short walk to the shops. Comfortable bed nice spacious lounge. However woken up each morning at 8:30am by work men in the neighbouring apartment (which was also owned by host & stay as I saw the vans outside) bang bang screwdriver going on and off. Every utensil in the kitchen you could think of.. yet no cutlery?! The window in the bedroom was broken… which meant there was a constant draft on one of the windiest nights. It didn’t help the bedroom door didn’t shut properly so this was rattling all night. And then to top it off.. the lights in the bathroom were on a sensor which was constantly flicking on and off on both nights keeping us awake with the light flooding through the cracks in the door frame. I honestly feel like I am writing a novel with the descriptions but it’s very disappointing when you are paying £100 a night!!! Also £50 cleaning fee for what? The cream carpet throughout was filthy! Will not recommend to anyone and will not be staying here again. I usually like coming back to the apartment at the end of the day but we stayed out as much as we could.

The property was situated great for us, it’s a short walk into the main town but not too close, the apartment is a great size for 2, with everything you would need for a short stay.
As we entered the apartment my heart sank as we were greeted by a very stained and grubby carpet and the sofa was not much better, fortunately we were provided with a throw which we sat on. It was very warm during our stay and the only windows that opened were the ones as you entered the apartment, the one in the bedroom was screwed shut, thank god there wasn’t a fire as that would of been our only way out!
We did enjoy our stay, the bed was comfy and we had our very own pet seagull outside of the bedroom window, maybe that’s why it was screwed shut, the shower is very powerful and the kitchen is well equipped also milk in the fridge which was a nice touch, we would stay here again, loved the area.

spotless and uncluttered. spacious and airy living space, high quality design
unpleasant damp smell just inside the entrance and up the stairs - looked in need of a clean and vacuum in that area too.
the sensor activated lights in the en-suite kept coming on during the night and waking us up (we had the door closed too).

Nice modern apartment looks very new.
Not really anywhere to hang clothes or storage for case or bags .
A little dusty but nothing too mayor
Stairs to the apartment are very steep and smell damp. Fabulous location straight on to one of the main streets in Whitby great view of the abbey

An excellently located base for a Whitby adventure. Clean with an extremely well laid out kitchen so you can properly cook if you want to. Parking permit allocated for your stay, I hopped out of the car on Flowergate and ran up to the apartment to pick it up so we could head out and park up in Zone W straight away. We found a space after a 5min drive around; I’d also recommend downloading the Zone W map for ease.

The place was furnished to a very high standard and was very comfortable for the 2 nights we stayed. The location was great with lots of local sights in walking distance. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who would be after a short stay to enjoy the delights of Whitby.

Décor, fixtures, fittings, etc. all high quality and exactly as you would expect from the photographs.
Location is excellent with Botham's bakery just up the road and Silver Street Fisheries in the next street - both highly recommended.
And of course the views of the Abbey that change with the weather and time of day.
Only downside is the lack of access to a dustbin outside the property, which may leave you looking for somewhere to dispose of your waste once the inside bin is filled.

The apartment was exactly how it is pictured very clean and modern however, due to being the first people to stay there were a few issues and the apartment was lacking some finishing touches ie ( blinds in the front room, rug) There was no parking scratch card provided in the apartment and after asking for one and being told this would be dropped off early in the morning it still hadn’t arrived. Internet was also intermittent as well as the sensor in the bathroom flicking on and off through out the night . Location is perfect super central and close to local amenities. Issues raised were taken on board by the letting company.
