Great short stay to recharge in Whitby. Very central: town, Anney, good restaurants, beech all within short walking distance. Longer walks available from the flat. Nice, simple flat with all that was required - lovely views from balconies.

Whitby is a wonderful place & anyone who lives there are lucky to have so much on their doorstep!
Being popular, parking is heavily regulated but the hosts were well prepared & we had no issues at all. Town, beach, shops & restaurants are all a short walk away but often involves steps, however those alleyways, steps & hills only add to the charm. The flat is also up a couple of flights but then you can enjoy the view from the small balcony & it's very clean, well appointed, spacious & has a huge bed.
Don't forget to have fish & chips (you're spoilt for choice there), climb the 199 steps & walk the piers.

Good location
Host forgot to leave parking voucher, but didn't really matter as were no spaces available near appartment anyway as was very busy...managed to park at seafront...few min walk away...£10.80 for 24 hours...price for apartment was way too much in my opinion for short stay(4pm sat- 10am sunday)but partner wanted apartment rather than b&b so you pay the going rate i suppose...other than that.. was nice and clean and good location with all the facilities you need for a short stay

Spacious, lovey comfy bed, views and perfect location
The front of the building looks tatty, cigarette ends on the pavement and all over the driveway. Initially thoughts grotty. Inside entrance way again untidy, dirty tired looking. Balconies need sweeping and tidying, old dead plant pots need removing, cigarette ends removing. The £25 breakages fee a con and constant reminders about leaving dates and checking out times need to stop!

Ease of booking and check in / out. Location superb in centre of Whitby with views of the Abbey. Comfortable accommodation for a couple of nights. Bed very comfortable. Spacious accommodation
The communal entrance was quite tired and had a smell of damp. There was some smell of drains in the kitchen area / bathroom on occasion. The flat could do with a little refresh. A bathmat would have been helpful when showering.

Attentive prior to arrival. I requested to see if i could get in a little sooner as we arrived early, communication became less, got there and no parking permit this not being ideal as it was raining and the free parking was 10-15 mins walk away. They said they would let me know via Airbnb when one had been dropped off, but didnt..... found it in the key safe the day we left.
Was evaluated at 3.15am not ideal and no ones fault but there are no lights on the stairs not ideal. Could really do with something in the apartment stating what to do in this situation as the emergency numbers in the entrance was of no use so alarm was going for an hour whilst we all stood outside in the rain and the fire bridage had checked the place over.
Apartment its self was great, very clean and ideal location.

Modern apartment with great views, comfy bed and good range of appliances in good location.
There was an issue with parking voucher which got sorted but could have done without. We were lucky to be able to park in the road and didn't use the car as there were rarely any spaces in the immediate streets but think this is same for anyone staying in Whitby. I didn't appreciate getting texts and emails reminding me of out departure date, never had this before and really not appreciated....given how strict arrival and departure times were, to get the apartment ready for next guests, the accommodation was superficially clean but saw cobwebs in living room, dust around the bin area and door rails for fitted wardrobes dirty. Sofa seat also stained. Small things but detracted from what is a very nicely presented apt.

It was a really great location and had a great view of the Abbey.
The apartment wasn't cleaned very well, despite the late check in to enable advanced cleaning. Also there was no dishwasher or any sponges and only a tiny bit of washing up liquid, so not easy to clean dishes.

Light and bright, great view, spacious for two. Comfy bed. Good location.
Cigarette butts left on floor of balcony terrace outside. We moved the sofa for a better view of the abbey and it was dirty underneath. Could hear other apartment users, doors banging, furniture moving, feet on stairs.

The apartment itself was spacious and clean. Nice big bed and lots of space in the living area. Great amenities and the Nespresso coffee was delicious. Plenty of extra bedding if needed and the sunrise view over the Abby is truly stunning.
Street parking is included with the stay on allocated streets, however finding a space in the correct streets was near impossible. You also have to go up to the apartment to collect the parking scratch card I understand this is the best way to get the pass however it is up 2 flights of stairs, so brace for a fair bit of walking on arrival.
Also add an additional £25 or so to your budget for a non refundable damage insurance.

Stunning location, brilliant views.
Communication was really poor. Got in touch as soon as we arrived re issues and expected them to be rectified, they weren't and I was fobbed off. Cigarette butts on the balcony, entire flat smelled of cigarette smoke on arrival. Only two tea bags and two coffee pods for a 2night stay! Marks on towels and pillowcase. Beautiful view and it could be amazing but just felt like it was run in as cheaply as possible and they don't care about the quality of your stay. Very disappointed.

Location.
View of the Abbey.
Coffee machine (after we emptied the capsules and cleaned it).
Spacious living area.
Having to empty capsules and clean coffee machine from previous occupants.
Utensils in drawer were greasy.
Toilet roll holder was broken.
TV remotes omg, two different ones to use and the most complicated.
Shower outdated and water temperature hit and miss.
Mould in the shower.
Only one parking permit left, had to spend my holiday time chasing to get more.
Reminders of checking out, didn't need one let alone four! One the night before, two on the morning of departure and one when I got home that afternoon.
Absolute overload of emails, ridiculous.
No consistency when dealing with their 'customer service'; in one conversation must have spoken to four different people.
Host and stay illegally took £260 as a damage deposit, no policy states this and they and booking.com couldn't provide proof. Still waiting for my money back even though been home for nearly a week, no one should have to wait up to 14days for this back.
Certainly wouldn't use host and stay again or recommend.

It's close to the coast, in a suburb called West Cliff which has a promenade, ice cream and even mini-golf. The bed was comfortable, and the apartment generally was in good repair and well equipped. There's a small balcony of sorts, though you have to climb through the window to get onto it. There are a few seagulls around as you'd expect, but they weren't noisy enough to be a problem. The hosting company have compiled quite a lot of information about the apartment which they've put in an app, something I wish more of them did.
It's up four not two flights of stairs, a total of 38 plus the 7 to get into the building. That is, it's not on the floor immediately above the ground floor, it's the one above that. It's a sun trap, which could be an issue around July/August when it could get extremely hot (bring your own cooling fan), and it could use blackout curtains on the bedroom windows. There were repeated problems with the hot water, and yes I did report that at the time. The parking permit is of limited value as there's unlikely to be any street parking available, especially in good weather or in high season, so sadly you'll probably be in West Cliff car park at £9 a day.
Dealing with a host company is never going to be as good as with the owner direct, and this one did seem to struggle to respond effectively at times - I'm aware that they manage a number of other properties, so let's say they were busy with other people.
West Cliff is supposed to have a lift from the cliff top promenade down to the beach, but it hasn't been working for ages, so expect to climb up and down which could be a problem if you intend taking deck chairs, sun shades etc.

It is a lovely apartment with nice furniture, and is in quite a good location for accessing the centre of Whitby. If they sort the noisy bedroom radiator then I think this would be a brilliant apartment. But I will never stay in a place managed by Host & Stay again.
"Host & Stay". Everything about this company leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A £250 security deposit is required, which seems excessive for a one night stay, but fair enough. On booking, it says that the deposit is due on arrival at the property, but the umpteen emails from Host & Stay demanding payment in advance and threatening to cancel the reservation suggest otherwise. Further, as a customer you will have to pay a £10 admin fee for the privilege of paying the mandatory £250 deposit, which was certainly not made clear at the time of booking. But don't worry (sarcasm intended), Host & Stay give you the option of straight-up paying £25 as an alternative to the £250 deposit. The company you go through to pay the deposit gives you one timescale for having the money returned, and Host & Stay gives you another even longer timescale. Host & Stay insisted I give them a check-in time - despite the fact that check-in is by collecting a key from a lock box - and then the day before the stay they told me I wouldn't be able to check-in until a later time (they made that decision with no consultation with me). Considering the large number of emails received from Host & Stay (before, during, and after the stay) it all felt so automated and impersonal. Everything about this just feels - as the customer - that you are being taken advantage of. A colleague of mine recently stopped in a different property managed by Host & Stay in Whitby and very much agrees with this sentiment.
There was quite a lot of cutlery in the kitchen drawer, but some of it clearly hadn't been cleaned.
The bedroom radiator - essential during the recent sub-zero temperatures - was quite noisy and interrupted our sleep. So in cold weather you can have a warm or quiet bedroom, but not both at the same time.
It was tricky to find the correct key lock box.

Our trip coincided with a period of heavy snow. Unfortunately, all the communications I received from the host company were automated (aggressive messages about deposits) and completely failed to mention the roads into town were inaccessible (the police turned us around and the abandoned cars along the A171 made national news). Travelling with a pregnant partner obviously wouldn't have been safe. The host company 'missed' my messages and is insisting I contact Booking.com for a refund. Naturally, booking.com are telling me to contact the host company.
I'm sure the property is lovely (the pictures and location look great). Unfortunately, the company hosting the apartments are pretty terrible – I would avoid.

The location of the apartment is great - you can see the Abbey from the living room and we loved having access to 3 balconies! The windows open really wide and were great for letting in a sea breeze when the heat wave hit.
The apartment itself is beautiful. Has everything you could need and the bed was enormous and very comfortable. Very good oven, lots of storage space and the seating in the living room was comfortable. Iron / clothes airer for when we washed our clothes TV was very good too - lots of options for viewing e.g. Netflix / live TV / Amazon prime.
Apartment was also clean but a little dusty in areas so thought this could have been improved on.
During our stay we were told maintenance would be visiting and needed our key so we had to leave it in the lock box when we went out. They arrived before we left so we handed the key over to them directly. When we returned they had gone to get a plumbing part and had taken our key with them and not left it in the box. We were locked out of the flat for going on half an hour! Not really the lettings agency’s fault but we could have done without having to juggle the key during our stay and would have appreciated a spare one being dropped round!
The shower was powerful but very temperamental! I suspect the thermostat in it is on the blink.
The duvet we had was a very thick winter one which wasn’t ideal as we were in the middle of summer! Not a huge issue but would have liked thinner duvet.
There was tea / coffee etc in the apartment for our arrival but no milk - again not a huge issue but would have been nice to have arrived and been able to have a hot drink. We could have also have used some more towels being provided.
Also, the parking can be a bit of a nightmare - the parking permit needs to be changed every two days so set a reminder so you don’t forget! Also we were there when a fair ground was set up on the cliff top down the road so loads of pay for parking was suspended. Therefore it was very difficult to find a car parking space the last couple days of our stay.

This is a very nice flat in a great location, loved the little balconies, but I found the pre registration process following booking on Airbnb long winded and time consuming, and the first time I have had to do this on a Airbnb booking, the other frustration was arriving and finding the Wi-Fi not working, it was clearly not been working for a while and was a line issue, unpaid bill/line fault? Issue was that mobile signal was poor for my network and left me struggling to do what I needed online. I did message but was told to ring the office!! Why do I have to ring when I messaged?? Frustrating!! It’s a shame these issues happened as otherwise it’s the perfect place for a visit to Whitby.

It was nice that milk was left in the fridge but a shame it was two days out of date.

Really nice place to stay in a great location. Flat itself was great and the views were amazing. Close to the beach (at the bottom of the cliffs) for a swim or walk on the beach. Had a bit of trouble fining the property so make sure you get full details of the location for a less stressful check in than we had.

The apartment is great with fantastic views. It is situated in a quiet area but is very close to the bustling centre of Whitby and also very close to a fantastic long sandy beach. The only drawbacks were the tired and grubby communal entrance and stairs, and parking is an issue.

A lovely little flat in the heart of Whitby.
This apartment has lots of positives, the location is second to none and the view you get of the abbey from the lounge window is spectacular… the apartment was really clean and well maintained.
However there are a few negatives…
There is no lift so would not suite those needing accessibility, the lights in the main corridors did not work at night, so when coming in late you had to walk up 4 flight of stairs in darkness or with a torch from your phone… only one set of towels was provided during a 5 night stay and we had to wash them ourselves.
All in all a pleasant stay and would return in the future

My husband and I had a fantastic stay in the appartment. The view and natural light are wonderful. The bed is huge and super comfy and it’s equipped with everything you could need. We would definitely stay again. Thanks so much

Great flat for a two person holiday of a week or less - flat is not huge but living area is very comfortable, views are wonderful, location is perfect and entire place was a pleasure to stay in. Highly recommend for singles or couples looking for a base to relax in Whitby.
