Location is good and the property had plenty of space.
The hob was extremely slow to heat up so it was difficult to cook. We also did not have a hairdryer (this was on the list of supplies given), so we had to spend extra money to buy one. I did try to contact the company via the phone number regarding these issues, but was kept on hold then told my call could not be taken. I am glad that these were relatively minor issues and not something like the boiler not working!

The location was good and the accommodation clean - carpets were a bit grubby but that's to be expected. It was great to have car parking sorted.
Nothing really apart from it would have been nice if the bay window was clean.

Location, though not easy to initially locate from instructions.
Extra £25 'insurance waiver' to pay to get access.
Walls were peeling in places.

I did feel that the smaller bedroom was a bit cramped and the window between the two bedrooms really needs a blind or curtains - the light in one room easily wakes the sleeper in the other

The facilities were excellent. The beds were clean and so comfortable.Top quality bedding. Bathroom and kitchen were spotlessly clean. The sitting room furniture was comfortable but tired looking and the living room curtains were half off the rail one side.
There was nothing we didn’t like.

There were no scratch parking permits in the apartment on arrival for free local parking as promised in the listing and so I phoned Host and Stay to complain, who said that they had forgotten to put them there and assured me they would be there the next day. No parking permits arrived, despite promising, and we had to pay nearly £50 in parking fees for a four night stay. We were also promised a refund for parking fees which never happened.

Location good.
Where to start…
Upon arriving, we realised the pictures must have been years old as it looks like a different apartment…
The location is good, but I am sure there are plenty of other places nearby which don’t have the following;
- bogeys on the walls next to your bed
- water/mud stains on carpets throughout
- rusty toilet roll holder
- black mould in shower
- cracked ceiling in living room which looks as though it could collapse at any point
- smelly / stained sofa
- broken curtains
- windows which don’t hold in place so have to propped open
- windows which appear to have never been washed
- internal doors which don’t fit the frames and are difficult to close
- sticky wooden floors in desperate need of sanding and re varnishing
- flaking paint on wall near bay window
The fact that you have to pay a £25 insurance policy for a property in need of a major refurbishment is beyond me.
I’m not being dramatic when I say this, but my sleep was terrible during our stay (as too was our friends in the other room) as we were all unnerved by the lack of cleanliness.
Trying to think of positives:
1. The apartment has tall ceilings and character. The Living room is spacious and characterful but as the whole apartment has been completely neglected, seemingly for years, the potential positives are completely outweighed by the glaringly obvious negatives.
2. Host and Stay were efficient and in regular contact with helpful info on how to access the apartment and even had a handy guide to Whitby which was a nice touch.
In summary, we were all massively disappointed with the standard of accommodation. Host and Stay appear to be a professional business, but the accommodation has hugely undermined their brand image in my eyes, don’t think I would book again with them or recommend.

The bed sheets and towels were clean. The location was good. We were lucky enough to get the last parking space on the road outside and the parking permit was in the flat ready to use for the duration of the stay.
The building and entrance was run down. The flat has a student feel to it with an old worn couch in the living area and stained hallway carpet. Importantly, two weeks before the trip, we were notified of the need to acquire £25 insurance which is required in order to be given instructions of how to enter the property (key box code) which felt to us like a scam. We ignored the emails at first but then a week prior tried to cancel the booking believing the flat was cancellable but the ‘waiver request’ was not accepted and a 75-80% cancellation fee would be charged. So we decided to continue with the booking. We had no choice but to pay £25 for insurance to enter the property, paying on the day to release entrance instructions. Had we known about the insurance and had we read the reviews, we would almost certainly have stayed elsewhere.

Good location

Good price
Nice Victorian property
Condition of property - dusty blinds, windows did not lock and in poor condition.
Struggled to find with sat nav on directions given. It stated we had arrived at the destination in another street.

The property was in a great location and was very spacious and had everything we needed thank you ( apart from a hairdryer which I couldn’t find).
The property could do with a bit of a refresh and the oven wasn’t very clean when we arrived. The kerb appeal could be better as the front door could do with a fresh coat of paint and the windows cleaned.

Great location and good parking.
Clean comfy beds
The property is in need of some TLC and a good clean. The small bedroom had clearly not been dusted for some time.
The bedding and towels were clean however there was a bath towel hanging on the back of the bedroom door presumably from the last guest.
The front room floor had not been cleaned with crumbs under the table.
The paint work and overall feel was disappointing and grubby. The only benefit been the bedding was clean and comfy.
The heating and radiators were noisy and the giant fridge rattles.
The entrance and front door are not exactly welcoming. The windows were exceptionally dirty.
Great location but could not recommend I’m afraid.

Great location, easy to access plenty of room for a short break. Slimline dishwasher was useful, appreciated the parking permits.
Didn’t like the extra last minute chargers, I probably missed them when booking but wasn’t very clear. Other flats in the building also were of the same opinion as same company.
We would have appreciated a cloth or sponge for the kitchen & a couple of dishwasher tablets left as we have had in other properties in the past.
Mattress protectors would also have been nice on the beds for a little more cleanliness.
If the few improvements were in place we would definitely return and stay longer.

The two positives were comfortable bed, clean bedding, and towels.
The condition of the apartment was poor.
It is in need of redecoration and thorough clean.
On arrival, I moved the sofa forward of the radiator in order to allow the heat to circulate the room.
Underneath the sofa was lots of dust, feathers, a playing card, and a curtain hook.
Fortunately, there was a vacuum cleaner in a cupboard underneath the stairs, so I was able to rectify the issue.
The curtain rail was partly disconnected from the wall, so when I tried to open the curtains in the morning, I had to climb onto a chair, then use a wooden spoon to re-open them.
The microwave is set on a shelf, that is quite high, which makes it impossible to view the timer settings.
I fully appreciate that two of the photographs are not of the areas requested on this website. However, l feel strongly that people looking at the apartment need to view the true picture.
I do have more photographs of other negative areas.
Unfortunately, there is only an option to post four of them.
The photographs on the website made the apartment look appealing.

The property was infested with fruit flies. I had to go back to work and while I was out my wife couldn't stand the flies any longer. The owner sent a cleaner with some fly spray but it didn't work and so my wife had no other choice but to re locate to another hotel. The owner said they would give us £60 back but we haven't received anything back in over 6 weeks.

Good location. Lounge area is spacious. Kitchen is well equipped - but no wine glasses 😥
Both beds were were comfortable- a double so if use to a king you will struggle. Main bedroom was pleasantly decorated. Other room is windowless.
Shower was nice and hot and powerful.
It’s easy access with only a couple of steps up to doorway and first apartment as you walk in. 5 min walk into centre.
I read a range of reviews before I arrived I was a little worried, as many were the same and didn’t seem addressed. But didn’t have any real issues. Yes some marks on carpets and walls - surly the deposits or insurance should cover this to rectify?
No hair dryer as stated - thankfully brought one with us!!!
Parking is a mare ( maybe just a busy weekend end of September ) Parking permit was ready on the table plus one for Scarborough!) - first night Friday parked on west cliff for free after 7pm but had to get up and put a ticket on for 9am. Saturday had to pay £6 to park until free kicked in again on West Cliff, finally Sunday morning managed to get use for the parking pass on the road and moved at 12 to in front of the apartment! Wardens do walk up and down so I wouldn’t chance it! Parking not the accommodations fault by the way!
The apartment could do with some more loving care and attention to detail after each visit.
Why have window boxes if don’t maintain, front garden areas again needs a tidy - little things make first impressions.
This could be a really lovely little apartment if just a little more care taken by the owners/agents.

The only good thing about this property was its proximity to town and the beach
Just about everything, the rental company were bullies, read the fine print! I understand there is a small minority of people renting properties like this for parties but this company treats everyone like they are criminals, you have to pay either a £25 waiver or a £250 damage deposit + £10 admin fee, the deposit is refundable if they decide there is no damage to the property but it will take 7+ days to refund. Once you click on book you are told it is non-refundable, but the law is that a cooling off period should be applied. If you request to cancel even on the same day as booking it is just a request for a partial refund that will be ‘considered’ by host & stay, this is stretching their legal rights to the limit. Host & stay did not supply the promised package, the property was unsafe due to dampness and possible mould spores, definitely had a long term water/damp problem in the cupboard under the stairs, and the property definitely does not accommodate 4 adults as described. The beds in the apartment are queens not doubles if you are normal size people it is like sleeping on a clothes line trying not to fall out of bed. The bedding was not clean one of the duvets could nit be used due to damp and they did not provide the free parking as promised. They kept telling us a card to cover the permit only parking area would be delivered to us it never was. I would never book with this company again!

Fantastic location. The apartment was well furnished and was all very comfortable. It was easy to access the keys. Dog friendly!
This was a ground floor flat so it was perfect for my dad who doesn’t cope well with too many stairs.
The second bedroom has no natural light so it’s a little cave-like.
No hairdryer.
You have to pay £25 damages before you even arrive and it’s non-refundable!

The apartment was very well equipped. The location was good.
The bed in the first room on the left hadn’t been changed, it had fluff on the sheets and the sheets were very crumpled and untidy. So resulting in a guest sleeping on top of the sheets. There was no parking permit left for us so had to ring Host and Stay, they said they would call us back with a solution but never did. So had to park a long way away. Then to find the permit when putting the keys back on departure. The overall cleanliness of the apartment was well below standard.

Great location. Lovely traditional building & well thought out living space. The furniture was comfortable and it was enough for my family of 4 plus our little dog.
There are a few “tired” areas that would benefit from future attention but they didn’t affect our overall stay and we would stay again. Some marks on carpets, marks on walls, 1 x bedside lamp didn’t work, a full length mirror for dressing would be great, the shower caddy is rusty & falling off wall….

Great location and surface cleaning was great but the whole apartment needs a really deep clean-such as carpets, floors, sofas. Everything looked a little worn out. The decoration is tasteful but needs a really good touch up. there are marks/scuffs, rips and stains. Bathroom parts need replacing, toilet brush holder, toilet paper holder and definitely the shower caddy! Apart from that it was a lovely trip and very easy. loved the big windows and information readily available.

Disappointed. Filthy rusty toilet brush and soap holder rusted in shower. No towel rail fittings. Kitchen living area door removed. So colder months bear would accept. The property itself old and tired. Needs to be refurbished. Also 4pm check in. Most hair offer 2pm. And also are flexible. We had 3 hour delay on train journey. My sister has Asperger’s. Was exhausted. Asked for earlier check in. Told not possible. As needed to prepare apartment. I discovered same apartment by Host and stay on booking. I am member use for travel abroad. And U.K. so as I’m at level 3. I would have received 20% discount. AlsoHost & Stay ask for £250 accidental damage waiver. Whilst it’s a returnable deposit. Etc. Individuals don’t ask for this and are more flexible on check in. My last hoar asked if we wanted a check in at 12am. The apartment certainly not luxury. as quoted in their description. Lots of lovely pubs nearby with rooms.

Leaving.
Arrived to litter filled front garden. Lock box jammed closed and neighbour sprayed it with WD40 and managed to open it. Tried to phone for help but didn't get response. Place is scruffy and dirty, walls cracked, black mould in window frames, crumbs on kitchen cupboard door handles and underneath microwave. Microwave smells really unpleasant. Second bedroom is a cupboard with a high window giving light from the other bedroom. No storage in second bedroom, wardrobe in main bedroom closed and handles broken so can't be opened. Absolutely disgraceful so called holiday home. Purely a money making opportunity with no regard to holiday makers comfort or convenience, total rip off.

Mixed review really, we were told a maintenance person may come on the first day we arrived but he never turned up, we asked for an update and got one 24 hours after arriving. We also never got a scratch permit for parking so spent the first 24 hours wondering if someone was going to come round or I would get a ticket on the car. Had to call them and they said someone would drop a permit off within the day: which is great but you can’t really relax knowing someone may be coming round!
There were also a lot of automated messages to me even though I was already messaging them, it was all too businessy (spoke to 7 different people).
With all that being said, the location is great, flat is very roomy (bigger than in pics) cosy, warm, good tele and nice fridge, comfy beds and amazing shower. 2 mins from the beach and all we need nearby.
Basically if you don’t have any problems on your stay you will have a great time, but if their are hiccups you’re weekend will feel like a waste! Potluck!

Tastefully-decorated apartment in a quiet street very close to town (just a five min walk to the West Cliff front). Parking permits left for us and we had a nice stay.
A couple of tips:
1. The key-secure box is the 'Apartment' one... NOT the 'Host & Stay' one!
2. Make sure you have enough wi-fi data - the router's positioned in the back-bedroom and doesn't reach the living room,
3. The kitchen is a touch under-equipped; bring your own cafetiere amd if you're cooking, a cheese-grater and a decent saucepan (the one provided is tiny).
Overall though an enjoyable stay and would recommend.

Lovely apartment, excellent location, kitchen well equipped, cosy. Lovely high ceilings and good quality furniture, comfortable beds, very pleased with it
There were a few minor issues:
The dining table was broken, pulled the chairs out on arrival and the leg fell off! Didn't affect us as we don't usually use the table anyway.
Neighbors were quite noisy but it was a weekend and that's to be expected
For £200 a night I would expect there to be a hairdryer in the apartment but there wasn't
All in all though a lovely stay

Originally, owners obviously made a lot of effort to refurbish. Good quality bedding and towels.
On arrival we thought the property was undergoing maintenance as the exterior of the building was grubby.. A curtain was hanging, clearly not attached to it's fittings. Handles missing off the wardrobe. The windows were filthy. Deposits of stale food on the inside of the dishwasher and on the glass dining table, badly stained dining chairs and general cleanliness was very poor .

The property was delightful, clean and comfortable with most of the basics covered. Other than a few seagulls the area was peaceful. There were lovely views of the harbour just a couple of minutes walk away and some convenient grassy spots to walk the dog nearby. Unfortunately Whitby isn't a very accessible town for anyone mobility issues (lots of hills, steps, lack of drop kerbs and not very generous disabled parking). The parking permits were gratefully received although it took us a while to find them hiding at the back of the welcome pack we'd been provided. The host was very helpful when we had to contact them on arrival with some questions. We were however disappointed to find out the hairdryer was missing from the apartment, although they did say this would be looked into. Coffee making facilities also only seemed to include a kettle and a jar of pound shop instant coffee. Luckily, as big coffee drinkers, we'd packed our own coffee maker just in case. It's a shame we hadn't thought to pack a hairdryer too.

Comfortable and nicely decorated. Very well located. There was ample room for our family of three: 2 adults and a 7 year old.

Place was dirty and smelly.. apparantly a £60 charge is included for 'covid cleaning'.., - yet we found random Pringle crisps on the floor!.. Furniture and carpets were stained, - so we made sure to take plenty of photos on arrival, - as we ourselves did not want to be held accountable! Some wardrobe doors wouldnt open.., - plus the lights were flickering on and off!.. - We contacted the given number to inform them of our finds.., - and was told to email the pics.., - yet the email address was coming up as 'incorrect'! Location was up a steep bank too..

Great location
Wasnt cleaned that well, dust all around the tv and crisps under the TV unit.
When you walk in it smells of drains.
Soon as you shower all you can smell is drains.
Bed was hard also

Nice apartment - great location for central Whitby, and for walking to Sandsend and beach etc. On - street parking handy (but can take a while to find a space!). Apartment generally clean and tidy, 2nd bedroom quite 'cosy', and shower cubicle tight, but otherwise good 😊

It was home from home, lovely and warm and we thought it was bigger than it looks in the pictures. Great location with a short walking distance to the harbour, shops, cafes, etc. Communication from the owners was also brilliant and everything clear, from directions and parking to even having a travel guide of what to see and recommendations for food and drinks.
Loved everything!

the location and the decor was lovely
nothing really, the lounge curtain was coming down already when we got there - the curtain clips had come off and we would have clipped them back on but it was too high up

We arrived for our stay on the Friday and other than parking near by being pot luck (we didn't move the car once parked as it was so busy), first impressions were good.
Lovely open plan lounge/kitchen area. Two double bedrooms with clean kitchen, bathroom and bedding.
There were a few things though that weren't great.
The lights didn't work in the hallway on arrival. We did report and say leave until we had gone but still weren't working on arrival.
The first bedrooms natural light is solely dependent on the second room and their curtains being open due to the windows in the first being high up and going into the second room.
The same room has no ventilation due to the same issue.
The boiler was loud when it kicked in and is based in the second bedroom, not a problem unless you're a light sleeper as i am.
The neighbours were loud when they were coming in and out late at night, lots of banging. Not something that is the fault of the apartment and pot luck who you get above but wasn't great. Wasn't constant though and was worst on Saturday night.
The fridge smelled though looked clean and became intermittently very loud, like it was overheating but we only had a few drinks in there. Worked though.
We ate out so didn't do any cooking but the facilities for cooking was fine.
The apartment is close to the centre of whitby and was easy to navigate on foot in and out if the town. It is downhill into town and up out but that's whitby and we found the location really good.
Getting ready for a bit of a freshen up but if you are a relatively deep sleeper and want somewhere close to the town centre that is quite modern then not a bad place to stay.

We’ve stayed at this apartment previously and unfortunately it’s deteriorated badly. Stains everywhere, windows filthy, curtain hanging off, ironing board a disgrace (dirty, torn and stained), water hammer from boiler sounding like a drill, I could go on. No parking permit on arrival, rang, told to move car elsewhere until next day as the permit had to come from Scarborough, less than 20 miles/30 mins, considering Host & Stay got things wrong, appalling customer service.

It’s a beautiful apartment. The furniture and decoration looks great and is very good quality. The beds are very comfortable. It has everything you need for a short stay. It’s located close to everything you might need but still in a quiet area.
There are some areas that would benefit from a touch up but it doesn’t really take away from the loveliness of the apartment.

Property is in a good location handy for the beach and shops. Boiler in the bedroom was very loud one night waking us all up. The heating was on at night couldn’t seem to turn it down.

Not the best communicators but dealt with our issue well and quickly. The accommodation was very well placed in Whitby but it was obvious that the decorating was hastily done, so didn't feel like luxury accommodation. Which is what our first impressions were when seeing the pics on the website.

Exceptional accommodation in an excellent location with responses to any queries answered almost immediately. We had an outstanding Christmas, a nice walk on to he Beach and a kitchen fully equipped to cook our Christmas dinner. I cannot rate this apartment and it's location highly enough. will be booking again very soon , superb.

Great stay in Whitby, the location is fantastic (if a little confusing to find as Havelock Place and Belle Vue Terrace are sharing road by the looks of it!), the place itself is such good value, clean, great amenities provided, beds lovely and comfy - and a 3 min walk to Silver Street Fisheries for some SUPERB F&C's ;-)

Perfect apartment for visiting Whitby. So close to beach/town on foot. Accurate to pictures here - cute and cosy but spacious enough for 2 people to cook / chill in sitting room. Spotlessly clean on arrival - very appreciative of adhering to high cleaning standards given the current climate. Felt clean and safe. Easy check in check out process. Would rent again.

Fabulous location and great first impression. Description accurate to the property and our children were happy to share a bed for the duration of the stay.
There was no parking permit when we first arrived but this was very quickly ironed out by the management company which was great.
If you were staying for a long time it is worth noting there's no washing machine (this may be in the description but we didn't look prior to staying).
We had a great time and would recommend the property to friends.
