Lovely house, about 10-15 mins walk from the town centre. There was just about parking space for 2 cars on the front. The house was nice and clean and looked just like the photos. Perhaps a shower in the shared bathroom would be a useful addition, but other than that everything was great.

Quiet location, short walk to town, shops and abbey.
Good accommodation for 8 of us, enough seating, 3 bathrooms.
Kitchen very well equipped with everything we needed.
Driveway actually fit 2 cars rather than the 1 the description states so this might be useful information to update as when renting a house for 8 people there will usually be 2 cars.
Would stay here again

The kitchen table was nice
On arrival there was rubbish and cigarettes all round the front, side and back of house, the house itself is filthy never seen a cleaner in there cobwebs absolutely everywhere, all over the side lamps, sofa was very sticky like it needed a good clean the floors where sticky and the stairs hadn’t been vacuumed, the bedding had what looked like yellow crust or dried food all over the pillows and bottom sheets.
Because only the stairs have carpet everywhere else is hard flood the whole house echoes it’s so noisy so if one person is up at 5am everyone is getting up
I did make host and stay aware with a response of shall we send a re clean well actually it shouldn’t have to be re cleaned it should of been right from the beginning and it was an inconvenience to us

Fairly standard property in the middle of other housing . No views etc other than of other properties and a bridge . Parking for 2 cars on the drive was a bonus. Host&stay caused a minor panic with message on the day saying we could only get in from 7pm but was resolved pretty quickly to the correct time of 4pm.
Nice space inside for us . 2 families totally 8 people . Nice little kids playground immediately behind the garden .
10 min walk to the town centre.
Negatives were poor water pressure in upstairs en suite and shower .
£40 insurance on top of the cost of the booking .
Usual Whitby early wake up call from the 1000s of Gulls 😄
Would we return ? Probably but more likely to try another property In Whitby first .

Not keen on 3 story's as one of the party had mobility issues

Spacious, clean, excellent location. It was really easy to check in and out aswell.
I would have preferred a slightly later check out and a slightly earlier check in time. Or at least the option of paying more to check in early. The sound proofing is terrible. If someone is washing up in the kitchen it sounds like someone is banging pans in your ear. Any sound can be heard anywhere in the house.

Excellent location; close by to Whitby centre and beaches - just a 5 minute walk. On site parking was really helpful. The property was comfortable and spacious for our party (4 adults and 4 children). The kitchen is modern and well equipped, perfect for family style home cooking. There is ab outdoor play park with slide and swings just outside the back which our kids loved.
The flushing systems were a bit faulty and needed attention after each use of the toilet. The curtains and blinds let light through so it was difficult to make the bedrooms dark enough for sleep before sunset. Some basics in the kitchen, like salt and pepper would have been helpful.

Nicely sized townhouse style property for a group of 8 people. The 2 double rooms have ample space with ensuite bathrooms. The 2 twin rooms are a little tight but the space around the rest of the property is great for 8 people to stay comfortably (6 adults, 2 kids). The location is about 20mins walk from the town centre but has a handful of pubs for a pitstop pint or 2 along the way. check in /out was simple with the lock box very visible at the front door. Clean bed linen and enough towels were provided. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of kitchenware to prep and eat meals. There was tea/coffee/sugar and sachets of UHT milk for a welcomed cuppa after travelling. a couple of dishwasher tabs and bottle of dishsoap also provided for your first day. Communication with the property agents was great in the build up, during and after our stay. They sent a link to install a little app with lots of info and guidelines about the property. We didn't need to get in contact the agent during our stay, but had there been any issues I'm sure their reps would be able to communicate anything quite quickly. Overall had a great stay and already looking to book again with them later in the year.
The family/communal bathroom should have a shower installed. 2 twin rooms have to share with the ensuite bedrooms or run a bath. Not recommended for those with mobility issues as the lounge and kitchen are on the first floor. Another allocated parking space would be helpful as group of 8 people are likely to come with at least 2 cars..Recommendations not complaints.

We were a party of 6 ladies, the accommodation suited us, was really comfortable and the location was perfect, just a short walk to the centre with a couple of nice pubs on the way. Great location to explore Whitby. We felt the check out at 10am was a little early. We appreciated the tea, coffee & sugar but it would have helped to have some milk as well.

The house was lovely, a short walk from wonderful Whitby. Well equipped with some consumables provided. The parking is useful too since it can be a little tricky in Whitby.
Was a bit put out being asked for insurance a couple of weeks before the stay.
But in all other ways I can't fault the accommodation or location.

The TV hard to work, make it easier to find normal TV, slightly later check out time be good, but understand you have to turn it around for next guest

lovely house, good location, great that it has parking. Beds were really comfortable and it has everything you need for a short stay (needs more teaspoons!)
There were some slight issues with the cleanliness, Microwave was dirty and cobwebs in the twin rooms.
The batteries needed changing on the remote, which we did, and it was very cold when we arrived, took until the second day to warm through.

Absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful, well-equipped holiday home.
Everything was great from the booking process, communication, arrival, comfort to the location.
Our group was family of 8 adults ranging from 20-74 and a 12 year old dog! We all felt the house suited our needs and was in a perfect location of about 10min walk into the heart of Whitby.
Would definitely recommend this home and would love to visit again.
Told couldn't park 2 cars but ample space and the neighbouring house did have 2 cars parked on their drive which was smaller. So definitely can park both cars - a house for 8 it's unlikely that you wouldn't need more than one car so don't be put off as the 2nd car was pulled on on our 2nd day and it didn't obstruct the path or inconvenience anyone in the slightest - and meant no car park fees!

Location was great, only a short walk into the centre. Room/bed set ups for a group like ours was perfect (a mix of couple, family and friends). Good amount of bathrooms for this also
There was a small problem with one of the toilets but this hasn't affected the overall rating

Excellent location as only a short walk into town. Well equipped and comfortable. Own parking space. Quiet surroundings.
Creaky floorboards (a nuisance if someone up and others trying to sleep). A working plumbed in washing machine would have been useful.

The house was in a great position and well equipped for a family of 8. 4 adults and 4 children.
The crabbing waa excellent fir the children and only 1 minute from the house, as was the children's park.
There was enough room at the front of the house for our 2 cars.
The walk into Whitby wasnt too bad. About 15/20 minutes.
Overall, a great house in a great town and would recommend.

Property was nicely presented. Well-equipped kitchen and comfy lounge. Around 20 mins stroll to the centre of Whitby. Small play park for young children just behind.
The worst part by far was was dealing with Host & Stay. Despite paying extra for free cancellation the deposit was deducted straightaway. The balance was deducted early. The online system to pay £25 damage insurance (actually £27.50 - some sort of extra admin fee l think) would not work. Finally got details to pay manually over a month before holiday and paid the same day but less than a week before the stay we were being chased for payment. Only got confirmation of payment and check in less than 48 hours before set off.
Property had some minor issues - dirty sock in wardrobe, marks on some walls, jets not working in downstairs bath and no washing machine

Location far enough from the town centre for some quiet time but close enough to walk down to the town centre. The property was large enough for all 8 of us plenty of room.
Some small things Squeaky floor boards, no washing machine/dryer, couldn't get the tv to tune in ( a problem for the kids)
some instructions for the kitchen equipment (dish washer, oven etc). and defrost the freezer.

The property was very well suited to our needs as we had 7 people in our party. We had a problem with one of the radiators in the main bedroom and we were impressed that someone came out to us on Christmas Eve to fix the problem. Great response. Well equipped, quiet property. Good location, a short walk into Whitby. Christmas tree was a nice touch.
The cleaning of the property was a little patchy. It did not look as though the stairs carpets had been vacuumed and one of the bins had not been emptied since the last stay. The freezer also needs to be defrosted as it was difficult to close the door at times due to the ice build up.

We had an excellent time staying at Scuttlebutt. Communication was clear and quick before our stay and the stay itself went without a hitch. The cleaners at the start of our stay were really understanding and helpful when we arrived a bit early - we weren’t checking in, it was just to leave out cars. A brilliant stay. The crabbing spot just round the corner is a hidden gem too, and the kids loved the playground just behind the garden. We come to Whitby every year and will use Scuttlebutt again.

Perfect little break for my family.
Ideal location from the center and didn't take long to walk in. Managed to park two large cars on the front.
Great size house and everything we needed plus so many beds!!!. Great little park for the kids behind the house and it was lovely looking at the boats from the house.
Definitely be back and thank you for making our little break perfect.

Some good, some bad things to report but let's start with the good:
Great location, on the river, 12 mins walk into Whitby, quiet, play area for the grandchildren.
Lovely house - furnished as if it's someone's home rather than a holiday rental, not huge but enough for our needs. Clean, bed linen & towels provided.
The Host & Stay staff were quick to respond.
Now for the bad:
Not enough cooking equipment for 6-8 people, no frying pan or oven gloves. We had to use what looked like a fish kettle as a frying pan on the 1st night and the only tea towel to hold it which conducted heat to hands. We had to buy a frying pan and oven gloves to be able to cook an English breakfast the next morning.
The main oven didn't work.
The dishwasher - we thought it was broken. Took an hour to get it working.
Only 1 tea towel provided.
The cold bath tap in the ground floor bedroom didn't work, making bath/shower unusable. Someone came to fix it next day but it was still intermittent. Also, if the hot tap was on in a bathroom, there was no hot water anywhere else in the house.
I paid almost £1300 for 3 nights over the jubilee weekend, an amount close to a full month's rent, and for that amount, I expect better. I have complained and asked for a partial refund but no response yet.

The location was perfect. A short easy walk into whitby Town centre. Couldn't have been better. The property was more spacious than we expected. Everything was fitted out nicely and was low maintenance/easy to clean, which really helped with having 2 little ones.
The water temperature in the showers was hard to regulate, but this was only a minor snag.

The modern, clean layout of the house. Having three bathrooms and a garden.
A small welcome pack of milk and bread etc. would have been nice so that guests could have tea and toast after their journey.
The noisy extractor fan in the front bedroom en-suite needs a service or replacement.

The house was lovely. Perfect for 7 of us for my hen do. Had everything we needed.

A very spacious and clean property, with plenty of guest parking and easy walking access to Whitby town centre. Although not quite 5 minutes as previously stated, more like a 20 minute walk.
We were 3 mature couples and booked this property specifically so we could have a bathroom each, so we had quite an issue arise when we had a phone call from Stay 40 minutes from arrival (, having travelled 170 miles) to say that one of the en suite bathrooms couldn’t be used during our 3 night stay.
Not much we could do at that point, and no other accommodation was offered at that point either by the letting company. It wasn’t until we had returned home that I raised the issue and was then told I could have had a full refund, and found somewhere else. We then only had 1 shower between 6 of us on the top floor which was really inconvenient. I found negotiating with Stay very difficult, and they virtually bargained with me to see how little compensation we would accept.
I have to say we are grateful to the owner for refunding us, but would say that you are not dealing with the owner direct here, so there is no personal touch as you would normally get with Airbnb. This company use several different platforms to market the properties under their brand. They did offer us a discount on a future booking direct with them, but to date have not received it.
One more thing to mention… we counted 21 lightbulbs in the property which needed changing, so maybe not all due care and attention is being paid!

Great place in a great location - 5 mins walk from the centre of Whitby in a bespoke modern development on the site of one of Whitby's former shipyards. The accommodation is light, airy and roomy, and equipped with pretty much everything you'll need for your stay. Check-in was a breeze and parking was no problem, even for visitors (there are designated visitor parking bays). Best feature was the jacuzzi bath in the ground floor en-suite, which we all loved. This is not your average AirBnB accommodation, so it's a bit pricier than some but worth the extra cost.
If you haven't been to Whitby before, this is an excellent location to explore all the delights the town has to offer. The accommodation is just off the main road into Whitby, so you can also use it as a base to explore other places within easy reach - we went to Robin Hood's Bay, which is a delightful small fishing village only a few miles down the coast (15 mins by car or you can get a bus), and York (roughly an hour, depending on traffic).
If you're a dog-owner (we aren't), you'll be in good company, as Whitby promotes itself as dog-friendly, and every second person we saw seemed to have a pooch or two in tow.

It was a lovely house to stay, but one of the en suites floor was quite badly lifting and was a hazard for anybody tripping on it, I did let the manager know and he said they could off rectified it, but that would of been no good as we were already there and starting our holiday and the floor would have to of been taken up, after saying this to the manager we heard nothing else from them which I think is not a very good way of running a business, he obviously didn’t have an answer and didn’t want to offer anything for the inconvenience. This should of been put right before anybody else was to rent the house. Maria
