We liked how spacious the property was. The sea view was lovely.
The first thing we noticed was that the property wasn’t clean. There was faeces in both toilets and even what looked like blood on the toilet seat. Minimal. But there. It’s in need of a deep clean. Some of the rooms need updating and maintenance. We didn’t feel overly comfortable due to how grubby it was, we had to clean it ourselves so it was clean to use. One of the bedrooms had mould and damp in the corner near the window. The carpet is filthy in the living area. We also found the location of the flat difficult with all the luggage travelling with two toddlers. We were told there wasn’t any high chairs or travel cots but then found a travel cot in the wardrobe and a highchair in the cupboard which would have saved us carting them up to the flat.

The views in this place are incredible. We were lucky enough to see dolphins the first evening and were able to sit and watch them out the window. The flat is spacious and worked well with the two families staying. The kitchen is relatively well equipped.
The flat was not as clean as I would have expected. It didn't look like the floors had been vacuumed and the surfaces in the kitchen were sticky. The bed in the upstairs bedroom was very hard and the pillows are very thin and poor quality, they could do with being replaced. The kitchen was relatively well equipped but a lot of the stuff needs replacing, plans scratched and wobbly handles.
We were a party of 8 and were given two parking tickets which covered us for two nights. We were staying for three so it made our final two days very tricky as its difficult to park around the flat during season time. We ended up parking almost a mile away, not ideal with kids.
The furniture could do with updating, the footstall in the living room is falling apart and when we moved it it left sharp nails over the floor which we didn't see until one of the kids almost stood on it. A couple of the dining rooms chairs were wobbly and didn't feel very safe.
All round an ok stay but not the standard I would expect for almost £800 for three nights.

Spacious, comfortable and clean! (apart from dead bugs on the windowsill). Beautiful sea view from every window.
Charlie from Booking.com has been great! Helping us with any questions we had.
Shower wouldn't drain properly. Told booking.com Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon. Only received 2 parking scratch cards. Staff were supposed to give us another, but didn't! Booking.com however, said they would reimburse us for the money we had to put in the parking meter.

Location, amazing views, spacious and clean.
Some of the windows open fully, some have safety catches some don’t, quite dangerous for a top floor apartment with small children.

Beautifully designed, well equipped, fantastic sea views, the top floor bathroom is stunning. Your staff are very pleasant.
Demanding that we pay for damage insurance just before we were due to arrive when it wasn’t stated in the booking information. The first we knew of it was just after the free cancellation period.
The TV doesn’t work, and despite emailing for help, we received no useful advice.
Whilst the apartment itself was very good, the internal corridors were very unkempt and poorly maintained. Fire equipment was missing in the communal area on the fourth floor.

This was in a lovely location with practically 360 views of Whitby. Travelling with friends and kids it was the perfect location to base ourselves from. However unfortunately on arrival we hadn’t been send the lockbox number and had to wait, once we had the keys the lock took about 5 minutes to open the door as the lock is obviously a bit fiddly. Upon entering the apartment we were hit with an unpleasant smell that didn’t disappear even when we had opened the windows. If you have small children you will need to stay with them at all times as plenty of the windows open fully which we found surprising being on the 4th floor. The beds were fresh and clean and the bathrooms were also clean. The kitchen had everything it needed.
Parking is very limited in Whitby, we had two cars and had to pay extra for the 2nd parking scratch card. First one is provided for 2 days.

Location was excellent, views were excellent (scaffolding was up but we were fore warned) apartment was very spacious and well equipped. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 children. The Metunes bar below the apartments was very friendly and welcoming.
The building and furnishings were a little dated and the apartment was showing signs of wear and tear.
I asked the host if there was a cot / high chair available, they said there wasn’t, so we had to bring our own, only to find one in the wardrobe after we’d set ours up.
Although there was a scratch card left for parking we received a parking fine because we misunderstood it.

It is spacious and lavishly carpeted but needed a thorough vacuuming. The marble topped dining table needed a clean, as did the work surfaces in the kitchen and lower floor bedrooms. The kitchen floor was sticky and the microwave was in need of a deep clean. A shower caddy would help to avoid storing on floor. The shower drain is very slow running. There was dust on the mirrors indicating a rushed job of cleaning.
On the plus side the place is comfortable and cavernous, the leather suite is very comfortable and so are the beds. The double glazed windows held the noise of the pub below at bay and the views through them are magnificent. The scaffolding didn’t help but that is not the owners fault. Overall we enjoyed our stay but it was to get away from housework so the praise is muted.
I have two tips for future occupants, firstly travel light, parking is difficult and you might have to lug your belongings a long way. Secondly fork out for pay and display parking for your first day.

This was such a beautiful place to stay. We had a group of seven and had plenty of space; we were able to cook together, hang out comfortably in all the cozy space, the views of the water were amazing and having such awesome and short walks down to the beach was wonderful! Great stay!

Very comfortable and well equipped.. Lovely apartment. Good location.
Property isn't really suitable for small children due to internal staircase and bedroom with no door.
Unfortunately great views spoiled by scaffolding around entire apartment.
Shower very slow to drain.

Location was excellent - right at the door was the path down to be beach. The views from the apartment were excellent (can see the football and cricket ground too)
The walk to Sandsend (down to beach left) was an hour long and amazing - even the kids wanted to do it again. Lovely cafes by the beach there too!
Large apartment with big rooms and fully equipped kitchen.
Chinese restaurant was nice (just below the apartment) and walkable to Fisherman Wife for variety. Other places delivered too
July 2023 renovation work outside the windows was a pain but fixing the roof so should be done soon
Spiders a plenty! For some reason the apartment has lots.
Whitby is quiet and lots of the town closes early so don't expect restaurants to be open late even in summer!

Lovely apartment, very spacious and perfect sleeping layout for us.
Board games were a nice touch.
We went when the building was surrounded by scaffolding, so our view wasn't great.
We were only given a 2 day parking pass even though we were there for 3 nights, so we ended up getting a parking ticket, and they would not help us pay anything towards it.

Great property, it was a bit run down in places but overall a great place. Easy location for everything in Whitby. Shame there’s just one key for a group holiday, and the upstairs room has no door but it was manageable.

Lovely home to stay in, spacious with what should be beautiful views. Unfortunately, the scaffolding was still up during our stay which does block the view slightly. Builders working from 9-630 on roof right above us so was very noisy early. No parking vouchers left out and none were able to be brouht to us until the afternoon of our first day. However they did offer to reimburse us for paid parking
Host and stay were very responsive during our stay although i needed to chase for instructions and key code, lots of correspondence before regarding insurance payment
Apartment was lovely, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you

4 stars is for great location and space. Has a view issues. I felt the scaffolding was worse than described, really ruined the view but when this is gone will be much better. Our key did get stuck in the door on multiple occasions, the toilet button was broken and there was a cobweb/dead spider in the plate cupboard. Not flexible with check in/out. Worth it if you can get it at a cheap price.

We had a great stay at Whitby - the location was an easy walk from central town (or would be without small children in tow!)
As others had stated the building is rather run down and in need of TLC - buckets in corridors for leaks and a rather musty smell in keeping with the age of the building.
The apartment could also do with some updating - it looks rather tired and worn but was comfortable non the less and had plenty of space for a family of 5 plus a grandparent.
The cleaning was not great in a couple of places - dead flies in the kitchen and an unknown dusty/flaky substance on the entrance hall windowsill. No issues with the rest of the cleanliness.
The scaffolding is a shame in terms of interrupting the sea view - would be stunning without but we knew that going in so was not a big problem and the view could still be enjoyed.
Apartment was lovely and warm and everything we needed as a base between Whitby trips.

Exactly what we were looking for. Accommodation was lovely and spacious and everything in good condition.
Slight wear and tear in some places eg carpets need cleaning (few stains) and main bathroom has slight shower mould.
It was a very comfortable stay and within a good walking distance to the town.
I would recommend.

The apartment has an incredible view, it’s very large and comfortable.
It feels like you’re stepping into a luxury home of few decades ago. The property would benefit of some renovations however it is still comfortable for guests.
2 things to notice though: the master bedroom doesn’t have a door but it’s only separated because on a different floor; the other 2 rooms share a bathroom which is attached to the other double room. The sound insulation isn’t great between the bathroom and the second double room. These two facts are less of a problem if you are a family but it could be an issue if you are a group of friends

Great place to stay where the family could all meet up together after lockdown wonderful sea views lovely place to relax however we still did not work out how to work the TV so just as well we had brought lots of games with us.
We were there on the hottest days ever recorded and would have loved to open the windows however there was so many flies and bugs stuck between the two frame that we had to boil with only one fan between us all.

The sea views were brilliant
It looked like it had only been cleaned in all the main areas that you’d walk through or see at first glance. Corners of rooms on the floor and along the edges of kitchen cabinets on the floor were filthy and had clearly visible crumbs, bits of fluff etc as though proper, thorough cleaning hadn’t taken place for some time.
There were quite a few areas that really need redecorating too. In the double bedroom that has the Jack and Jill bathroom, when we had the window open it blew huge flakes of paint off the bubbled paint areas on the ceiling which all fell into our open suitcase of clothes.
In the dining area there was an ottoman style piece of furniture under the windows and it had a yellow throw covering it. As we sat on the ottoman we found the brown leather-look coating it had on it was all coming off. We ended up with loads of pieces of it fallen all over the floor which were getting stuck to our feet and walked all around the flat until we realised where it was coming from and what was happening. We assume the yellow throw was to hide that it was all coming off but as soon as you sit on it to look at the views out of the window, the throw moves and bits fall onto the floor.

My four friends and I had a wonderful stay in Whitby. The apartment is in a great location overlooking the sea and within walking distance to town. It was much bigger than we expected and was the perfect space for us and for a little weekend getaway. The apartment itself is beautiful with comfortable rooms and great views. A couple of things to think about for future guests is to bring your own beach towels if you want a day by the sea. There are normal bathroom towels available but these wouldn't be appropriate to bring onto the sand. Also there is only one parking permit available, so try your best to fit into one car.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely place, great views and parking included. Inside the common spaces in the building is a bit worn and tired, but the accomodation itself is lovely and up to date.
Perfect spot! Child friendly accomodation with kids plates and high chair.
Only negative would be that the lift was out of action during our stay- quite taxing taking bags and a toddler up 4 double flights of stairs!
Otherwise perfect stay, would come back for sure!

I have just returned from a 3-night stay at Seaview @ 44. Our party consisted of five people from three separate households.
Check-in was easy and we found nearby parking without issue. We had two cars between us. The apartment is on the fourth (top) floor of a landmark building, Metropole Towers, in the West Cliff area of Whitby. There is a small lift which you can use to reach the apartment although, like much of the building, it feels dated and looks like it might break down at any given moment!
The apartment itself is very spacious and well-equipped. It is starting to look a little tired in places but it still has that ‘Wow’ factor owing to the amazing views from various rooms (but note there is currently some scaffolding up which obstructs views from some windows). My partner and I slept in the upstairs ‘master’ bedroom which does not have its own door and is separated from the rest of the apartment by stairs only. This wasn’t an issue for us but other people may not be so keen on this layout and it isn’t clear from the description or pictures that the master bedroom is not self-contained. The en-suite attached to this bedroom is quite large and features a free-standing bathtub which we made great use of!
The only downsides to our stay were only having one set of keys between the five of us (this was really inconvenient) and a fair amount of noise from pigeons nesting in the roof which could be heard from the master bedroom. However, overall we had a great stay. Whitby is beautiful!

Location was excellent and the sea views from the top floor apartment were stunning. Apartment was very spacious, generally comfortable and well equipped.
Would have preferred more than one set of keys as we had three separate couples when we stayed in the apartment and the intercom was not working to buzz people in.
Infestation of flies on arrival and throughout our stay.
Being a little nitpicky in a few areas cleanliness could have been improved upon.

This is a very nice apartment and the view@44 was really impressive. Lots of space. The flat just needs a bit of updating, and there was scaffolding outside our windows which we were not informed of beforehand. Host&Stay manage the property on behalf of the owner and they were very responsive to any questions we had. We did not like being asked for extra ID checks off-airbnb which is not mentioned in the description, plus trying to sell additional cover. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.

I would not recommend this Airbnb as the parking is impossible near the apartment and only 1 scratch card permit for potentially 7 people.
No instructions on where to park in the apartment and when I went to collect the permit I received a parking ticket !The host representative was also very unhelpful when I called regarding this issue .
The third bedroom had no wardrobe or hangers in it even though it slept 3 people.
