Close to Whitby Station. The problems that we had were resolved quickly.
With a tripled room rate due to the goth festival, a non returnable cleaning fee of £150, and a non negotiable damage fee with a charge of £12, I expected better. Looks like they didn't even vacuum. I get the impression they do not check the property between guests, as the main kitchen light was flashing uncontrollably, which was terrifying as one of our party was epileptic. They had no idea about this obviously. Did fine, but for all the money they kept trying to take, absolute joke.

Walking distance to the centre of whitby.
Spacious.
Kitchen well equipped (some items of poor quality though)
Wasn't cleaned well, needs a thorough deep clean but even basic day to day cleaning wasn't done well. Toilet not cleaned properly, bath not cleaned well, fridge dirty. White socks didn't stay white after walking on kitchen /living room floor . Beds clean but duvet covers marked on 2 beds
Oven didn't work!! 2 light bulbs didn't work
Carpets and paint work tired.
No effort put in to looking after the property.

FAMILY WEEK AWAY 5 ADULTS 3 KIDS PROPERTY LARGE ENOUGH FOR ALL OF US. GREAT LOCATION SHORT WALK DOWN TO THE TOWN CENTRE
THE PROPERTY FELT TIRED THE FRONT GARDEN OVER GROWN, THE CARPETS A BIT STAINED THE STAIR CASE DAMAGED, THE SECOND BEDROOM THE BED WAS LEANING OVER BECAUSE THE LEGS WERE DAMAGED, THE CUPBOARD UNDER LIGHTS IN THE KITCHEN NOT WORKING, THE MAIN OVEN ON THE COOKER NOT WORKING. IT SEEMED A LOT OF SMALL THINGS THAT TOGETHER LET THE PROPERTY DOWN AND LEFT IT FEELING "TIRED"

Great location, 10 minute walk into central Whitby although down/up a steep hill so could be difficult for people with mobility issues. House was clean and cosy, had loads of cutlery, glasses, dishes etc including kids plastic plates and beakers . Having 2 parking spaces was great but it was snug for 2 biggish cars. Some kids toys in the bedroom which they absolutely loved to play with.
Couldn't find instructions how to use the cooker, we managed but an idiots guide would have been helpful! The fridge was barely cold but eventually cooled down after we changed the settings. One of the mattresses on one of the double beds wasn't great, had sort of dropped on one side. These are little niggles but overall we loved our stay and would definitely go back again.

Fab location, well equipped and comfy beds, host left essentials in the property which was a great thought, will definately stay again.
The only problem was the noise from the fan constantly going in the lounge which disturbed sleep in bedroom directly above 😴😕

Had a lovely stay this weekend . A lot of homeowners close by carrying renovations out.
Just woke us early but can’t be helped.
House great, abit tight in the living room if more than 6 people
The fridge would be better in the kitchen.
No other complaints
Clean, good location, owners very helpful.

Pictures of property and directions helped with locating the property in the narrow streets of Whitby. The parking for up to 2 cars was a real bonus too. Only a 5 minute walk to the Harbour, station and town centre.
Plenty of space real value for money. Will definitely stay again should we be in the area, no question.
Nit picking to find fault really. The cleaning of the fridge had been over looked but moving forward this is going to be addressed.
Another small niggle were the 2 ceiling fans in the kitchen and lounge right beneath the ground floor bedrooms.
They were quite noisy, but I understand, with an older property you need to keep moisture at bay. There was no way to isolate at them night from what we could see without turning off the main fuse for the downstairs lighting.
But overall a very nicely kept spacious property right in town.

Space for two small cars. Location
Kitchen was dirty, toast crumbs on working surface and toaster. Dishwasher not working. Was not informed about this. Radiator in lounge not working, so lounge was cold, no other form of heating in lounge. Stains carpet. Could do with a through clean inside and out.

The house is lovely and very convenient for amenities and coast. However the dish washer was broken and the bath leaked into the kitchen, the beds were uncomfortable. My biggest complaint is the lack of care when reporting this, there was no local agent so it was someone on the phone miles away and all they could say was have you another bathroom, not sorry or how can we help. So we had one shower for 9 people for 5 days!

We had a really nice few days staying as a family (6 adults and 4 children) at the Alby. Mainly due to the proximity to the centre of Whitby and the ease of accessing all parts of the area.
There are several issues with the property unfortunately which need to be mentioned. On arrival the cleaning was poor, the kitchen floor had not been swept/mopped and the surfaces were not cleaned. The sofas and kitchen units hadn’t been cleaned underneath. There is a damp/ musty smell in the kitchen and living room which is due to it being in the cellar of the house but with regular maintenance it could be lessened.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are fine and as pictured on the listing, the showers are powerful.
What is a let down really is the general maintenance of the property. The photos are clearly a few years old and there are several areas that need work. The hosts are responsive but it is just a standard reply and it’s a shame because it could be a great place with regular maintenance.

The place had everything we needed, lots of fridge space for drinks and food for all 8 of us.
There is enough space for 2 cars but because there were cars parked opposite we could only fit one of our cars in which meant we had to pay extra to park

Location was good
Nothing was clean , I had to clean once I arrived , Host and stay offered me a cleaner which wasn't until the following day which I knew I had to decline because I wasn't going to sleep in a dirty environment. THE FRIDGE WAS FILTHY I HAD TO GO FIND SUPERMARKET TO BUY CLEANING PRODUCTS AND RUBBER GLOVES.There was mouldy food lay around, dirty bins, rubbish empty boxes in cupboard. The microwave hasn't been cleaned in so long therefore was dirty food inside. There was suspicious substance white powder debris left behind in cupboards. There was dirty socks in bedroom, the top double room the bed sheets all ripped. There was a dirty napkin in bottomed double room. They safety box to get key out out so old hard get into. For tye price of the stay I was disappointed and I think there was no proper cleaner hired and in these times clean environment is essential on a trip.

Whitby is beautiful. The house has potential. Great that it caters for 10 people although there is not enough seating in the lounge for 10 people. Location is ok but there is a steep hill up and down to the house, so not one for elderly. Also not one for small children as the bannisters was loose in places.
The drains were blocked front and back, neighbours complained to us as all waste water was pouring into the street, a local councillor turned up to complain and even went to get his own tools to help un block the drains. They must of been aware of the issue before we arrived, as there was a hose and the yard was in a mess. Mould all around the fridge, I cleaned the front but not sides. Must also be damp as paint peeling in kitchen and lounge. We stripped the beds when leaving and found wee stained mattress cover not washed, makeup all over pillow with no protector and wee stains on duvet. Beds very uncomfortable, I think old. I don’t go on holiday to clean mould, liaise with neighbours, unblock vile smelling drains, empty cigarette trays outside, clean fridges and cutlery draws. Car park for 2 cars is questionable. Also you think you are booking through booking.com but the terms and conditions and price is different, as you are bound by host and stay terms and conditions, another company that just helped themselves to take payments from my account without warning and you have to pay a £250 waiver on top of the cost, that they don’t warn you about, which is ok if you have a credit card but not very one does.

Location was excellent, in our group there were three children a dog and two adults and there was plenty of space for us all
Mattress in the master bedroom is ridiculously soft, I think it needs replacing. A lock in the master bedroom door would have been nice. Some instructions on how to use the oven would also have been handy

The location was great easy to walk into the town, the bed rooms were lovely and light and comfortable. It was great to have some outside space to eat in the garden.
The lounge is a little dark and colder because it is in the basement. The kitchen was not as clean as the rest of the house. The garden needs some care

We were a group of over 50 lol motorbikers who wanted to visit Whitby and ride the surrounding area. We arrived at this
great property with everything you need and more. Spacious for 7 people. Very much home from home. 10 minutes from town centre accessible for all shops and sightseeing. 2 parking spaces provided. Host & Stay who managed the property have excellent communication from the minute you start your booking and would certainly recommend. More than likely will return. The area for riding is amazing 👏

Sleeps 10...comfy beds. Well fitted kitchen.
Very unimpressed with the property. There is a God awful smell in the house...coming from the basement level....kitchen and living room but permeating throughout. Absolutely ruined our holiday. A serious damp problem. Secondly, the rugs/carpets are very badly stained..especially in the lower bedroom room nearest to the front door. I took photos because I was so aghast and the skirting boards are filthy. I know it's September - the end of the summer season but an air bnb should be in tip top condition 24/7. The crockery/glassware was fine but the house sleeps 10. The 2 sofas seat 6. There were always people without a comfy seat. Who wants to sit on a hard bench? There was only one set of keys. The doors cannot be opened inside without a key. I left at 5.30 this morning but the others left later. How was I supposed to lock the front door after me? If I put the keys in the keysafe, how would the other family members locate them? They were then locked in! An absolute health and safety issue. Like wise the back door. I had to wake someone up at 5 30am to lock the door behind me. Yesterday, my husband went out and locked the front door and took the key with him as we were going to be apart for the day and I would not be home to let him in. I said I'd use the back key. I sat in the back yard with a drink but then the sun moved to the front. ButI could not I not access the front! I voukd walk through the house but thefront door was locked. So I had to pick up my glass and walk down the back road, round and up into the next road to sit in the front garden. But then could still not access the house, so had to walk back later. Completely impractical. There should be at least 2 sets. Also we arrived to find a grubby damp towel hanging behind the en-suite. Finally I do not think the advert makes it clear enough that it is unsuitable for disabled guests. We were very disappointed.

Comfy beds and sofas.
Spacious kitchen area
Good shower and nice deep bath.
Close to centre of town.
Room for parking 2 cars
Broken door handle in one of the bedrooms.
Broken/loose light pull in bathroom, dangerous, needs fixing asap.
Table and bench seating in living room too large for the room, made it far too cramped.
Not very clean, surfaces in kitchen and the table top were sandy when we arrived.
Needs a blind in the bathroom, felt very on show at night as there was no window covering.
Alot of rubbish, plastic bags etc where we parked the cars, looked a mess, not a great first impression.

We had a really lovely stay in this house, which is really well situated just a few minutes from the centre of Whitby. Lots of space and super well organised for 9 of us (6 adults and 3 kids) to spend a long weekend together without getting under each other’s feet. Two parking spots was a bonus, although the road is narrow and parking space was tight! Also a lovely picnic table in the garden let us chill out in the sunshine. Only two downsides for us: the house was a bit tatty and hadn’t been very well cleaned before we arrived (kitchen smelled of damp, stains on the carpets and walls, dodgy door handle in one of the bedrooms, chipped plates, dirty counters and some of the decor was broken); this probably wouldn’t have mattered except for the slightly litigious tone of communication, which involved no direct communication with the host and instead being contacted by a third party prior to arrival who tried to sell us insurance against breakages/damage. Given the state of the house on arrival, this left the feeling that we were going to get blamed for pre existing breakages and stains!

bedrooms good size and beds very comfy, kitchen very well equipped
garden and yard could do with some tlc so nicer to sit outside in, wouldn’t have taken much to hose and brush down and tidy up, also few bits and pieces round and about the house could be fixed and repaired ie door handles light, light switches etc

A really great house light and airy and on a quiet street.
Lovely bedrooms very clean and location to town was very good for able bodied people. Bathrooms and toiletries were really clean. Kitchen was well equipped with some essentials in the cupboards ( other than having to use a small lighter for the hob which took the hairs off my arm)!
Broken hanging rack in top floor bedroom and another member of family would prefer blind on main bathroom window.
The floor was filthy we removed our shoes as requested but my feet ended up very dirty so I question if this was mopped before we arrived!
I would use some of the kitchen space for dining and put more seating in lounge as for a 10 person house it was a bit uncomfortable sitting on the benches all evening.
Steepness of the hill and steps was a little too much for the elderly members of our party so this maybe needs mentioning in the details. However we had a lovely stay and I would return.

A nice property in a great location.
Communication has been excellent.
The only disappointment
was with the cleaning team who over
reacted to a couple of wet patches on the carpet when we vacated the property. We cleared everything up on
leaving and this included wiping a dirty
footprint mark on one of the carpets
which resulted from treading in some
loose moss from the front doorstep.
Also there was a broken slat under one of the beds which was not picked up
from the pre ious letting and was
allocated incorrectly to our booking. Lesson learnt - check these things out and take photos of conditions on arrival and report things asap.
Otherwise all great.

The weekend was great, the accommodation was perfect for our large family. It was clean, really well presented and there were plenty of essentials at the property making the stay more comfortable.
The parking was a bit of a struggle, the street is really narrow so if you have multiple cars or large ones, it may be easier to park on the road or in one of the nearby car parks suggested.
