The cottage is beautiful, the location is very quiet, everything would be perfect if it was clean
We pulled the sofa forward to be closer to the tv and it was filthy behind there. The shower head is covered in grime and needs a deep clean, the bathroom walls have toothpaste splatted on it, around the basin made me feel sick, please ask the cleaner to clean the whole way around the sink. The lamp in the bedroom is draping with cobwebs. The shower only does scorching hot or freezing cold.. definitely needs some maintenance. I am not writing this for everyone to see, it’s so taht you can get this sorted for the next customers. It is not pleasurable staying somewhere dirty

Great Cottage, with all the facilities we needed for a family break
Relaxing surroundings - a pleasurable stay in north Yorkshire
Convenient parking, Clean and Tidy , little girl loved the bunk bed.
Beautifully decorated throughout. Home from home.
If you are eating out Sundays, need to eat before 4pm limited choice Cottage is fabulous and done to a high spec, however in need of some tlc in areas to maintain the premium cottage rating it truly deserves.

Lovely little cottage, perfect for couple or small family. Just down the road from Flamingo land, super comfy beds, lovely location. Would love to know what brand the master bedroom pillows were, my wife hasn't stopped going on about them

The location was lovely, in a quiet rural area close to Malton & Pickering.
Check in was easy although we had to pay a £25 non refundable damage deposit to get the check in details, which we preferred over the other choice of £250.
We arrived at the property on Friday at 11:30pm to be greeted with an infestation of slugs in the kitchen and living room, please see photos attached. We then spent the first hour removing the slugs and cleaning the property.
Not only this but the general cleanliness of the property was severely lacking, from cobwebs, dead insects to various stains throughout. The bathroom had a mouldy shower screen and grouting also needed cleaning.
From a party of 5 we were all exceedingly disappointed, especially in light of the price we paid. Whereas we appreciate this is an old cottage where you may get the odd cobweb, we don’t expect to clean it upon arrival and be worried about germs during our stay. We still have not heard back from anyone and wouldn’t stay again.

Quite a cosy cottage, comfy sofas, and nice having a wood burner. Couple of issues but we're sorted immediately via host and stay
Bath was a wee bit grubby. Tiny rooms..not like the photos , they looked big in them.

The location is really nice, very close to Malton in a beautiful rural area.
The kitchen has many things for cooking, there living areas and bedrooms were comfy and they were very nice. Overall we really enjoyed our time there.
Everything was very nice, just a couple of simple details that I think can help in future: there was only 1 toilet roll for 4 people/4 days so we had to buy a pack, and although there was washing liquid there weren't sponges to do the washing up, so again we had to go out to buy some. Not a great inconvenience, just mentioning it as it's an easy fix and it helps to have basic things, specially if you get in the place late :)

A very comfortable and well-appointed cottage which would be lovely and cosy in the winter. Not sure you could park two cars outside, but parking further down the street wouldn’t be an issue.

The cottage was in a small quiet village but central to York and Scarborough, with Flamingo Land only a couple of miles away, so lots to entertain the g/kids.
The local pub served a good meal (except Mondays and Tuesdays) and welcomed children to dine there too.
There isn’t a local shop within walking distance (so be aware to take supplies) but basic tea, coffee sachet milk were provided.
Everything we needed was available to hand and importantly clear instructions on how to use each appliance. All worked well!
Communications with the agent on anything we needed to know were excellent.
Even the WiFi worked!
The bed was so comfortable we searched the make online to get one for home 😂
We have a lovely time in September cottage. Thank you!
An extra loo roll would have been handy.

Comfy little cottage perfect for a family of four .
Close to local attractions and in a pretty village.
Lots of kitchen equipment for self catering.
Host and Stay sent several messages during the stay via Booking.com asking us to book another night at a discounted rate. Sending this message once would have been adequate.

The cottage was very nice and comfortable. We never did the TV to work very good but that did not matter to us.
We messed up thinking we were staying another day and took the keys with us on our sightseeing but the host, Chris, worked with us and we were able to extend our stay long enough to remove all of our belongings!
There could have been some small amenities in the kitchen such as a roll of paper towel and some facial tissues. I know this seems trite but the nearest store to purchase same is about 15-20 minutes (that we knew of).

Stunning cottage, perfect for a weekend get away in Yorkshire with a small family. The place is well equipped (our daughter is 10 months old) and there was ample facility and space. The pub down the road was lovely and just a couple minutes walk. The check in instructions were disjointed and the cottage was tricky to find as the wrong address was listed. Albeit it was down the road. I would definitely return and get a better experience now knowing where to find the cottage and what to do before setting off.

Great little cottage, suited our requirements for a Christmas shopping break.
The plaque on the cottage is deceiving, it's named September cottage not Great Habton cottage. What made it even more confusing was the key box pin code that we received from booking.com was incorrect. If it wasn't for some friendly neighbours, we would have struggled to find the place. A phone call to Host and Stay solved the incorrect key box code. Issues you dont want to face on a cold, dark, rainy night after a 3 hour drive.

The jacuzzi bath was very popular from the 5 year old to the 71 year old.
The property was always referred to as Great Habton Cottage. This was the property we struggled to find, even when google maps insisted we were there, all we could find was September Cottage. Eventually we noticed September cottage had a key safe and the key code we had been given gave access to the cottage. Even inside, notices referred to Great Habton Cottage. Very confusing. Post codes are even worse, please start using What3Words to guide people to your properties. It is so accurate it will lead holiday makers quite literally to the doorstep. Couldn't get the dishwasher to work, seemed to be out of rinse aid ? But not a problem as we had very little washing up for our brief stay.

On arrival, we had to wash all the pans, pots and cutlery as there was coffee stains down the outside of the mugs and food on the cutlery etc. All the worktops were sticky, the coasters were stuck together ! The cottage was lovely but not clean !! The cobwebs especially in the main bedroom were everywhere. A real shame as the cottage was let down by the standard of cleanliness.

Such a beautiful stay in a lovely cottage which had everything we needed. The location was perfect for a quiet getaway, close by for day trips into local towns and also made a trip to Whitby. Really comfy beds and so quiet which allowed some of the best nights sleep we’ve had in a long time! Also can’t recommend the local pub highly enough, food and atmosphere absolutely perfect. Thanks for a lovely stay, would definitely visit again and so lovely that we could bring the dogs with us, thank you!

Quiet location with parking space, a cosy cottage. Comfortable sitting room. Good sized light bathroom with bath and shower. Kitchen very well equipped. Main bedroom well fitted out.
Second bedroom was very small with bunk beds, so not suitable for two adults wanting separate rooms. There was nowhere here to put your clothes, not even a chair.
Bathroom - the washbasin was very high and had no plug so not useful for anything.

A beautiful well located cottage, for Yorkshire walks, Flamingo Land and many lovely towns and villages. A stones throw really, in car.

Comfy beds.

Lovely little place in the countryside a 10 min drive from Flamingo Land (the purpose of our stay). Beautifully decorated, comfy beds and equipped with everything we needed. We weren't sure what to take with us in terms of tea, coffee, washing up liquid etc but everything provided including dishwasher tablets and coffee pods for the machine. The kitchen is fully equipped and even had a slow cooker so we utilised that for after long days out.
Other reviews commenting on the damage deposit. We were aware of it before booking, it's clearly stated in the information that it is required and I can't blame them for doing it either to prevent anyone not respecting the place. You don't get bombarded with emails either as some other reviews put. I think I had 4 or 5 but they were all valid and then 2 more whilst we were there making sure all was ok, reminder about checkout and then a final to leave a review. Nothing I wouldn't expect!
We as a family of 5 loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again!
Not that it would prevent us from coming again but in terms of cleanliness there were quite a few cobwebs. Otherwise it was very clean.

Great house to stay in. The kitchen layout with practical - as we cooked in house, the beds were comfy. Lovely décor.
As per other reviews, the booking requirement to pay security bond (which was unexpectedly high) as an extra step, via a third party service after we had already paid upfront and arrived in-country, was a debacle.
Even though the booking says "The final price shown is the amount you will pay to the property." - make sure you read the Important Information section. There is also a non refund amount and it is not clear which amount this is. A month later we and do not have our refund.
If you travel and use an esim, you will not be able to pay this bond as an overseas visitor. We had to arrange someone else to pay for us. While "Host n Stay" were sympathetic, the lack of flexibility in this process threatened us keeping our booking - even after multiple calls and emails with the online payment service. We never spoke to the owners. The anxiety this placed on us prior to us arriving, not sure that we had secured our stay was unacceptable.
However, the property was lovely and met our needs really well.

The location is ideal if you're visiting Flamingo Land at only an 8 min drive away, the cottage is very well equipped and very cosy. Has everything you need as well as some nice extras such as the wood for the log burner, throws for the sofas and lots of kitchen equipment. We really enjoyed our stay.
The booking experience wasn't the best in my opinion, I hadn't realised that I would need to pay a £250 deposit or pay for a £25 insurance waiver. You get hounded by the company really so the lead up to the break is almost spoilt. The floor boards are very loud so if you have an early riser in your group then prepare for everyone to be awake. Also there was no phone signal, which was fine for us mostly as they have good wifi however we ordered food and the company cancelled our order because they couldn't get in touch with us. None of these things are deal breakers but worth to consider.

When the electricity problem was sorted it was okay.
The cottage name was incorrect and caused a great deal of time wasting and inconvenience as no one knew where the cottage was. We had no signal on our phones. Eventually we looked around for
key safes until one worked on a cottage called September Cottage.
The electricity sockets bar one in the kitchen were not working which impacted on being able to use the 3 TV's, wi-fi and bedside lamps. Our first day and evening and part of the second day were ruined as we waited for an electrician to arrive. This was a holiday we had looked forward to. We have filled in a complaint form and requested a 50% refund from the owners. As yet we have not had a reply.

Nice little cottage in a quiet location near a pub
Cottage wasn't cleaned prior to our arrival so excited toddlers we're diving into someone else's dirty bed linen to 'choose their room' before we knew there was a problem. Dog hair everywhere. Company was barely apologetic and offered only a £15 per person reimbursement which was then withdrawn by the company in poor faith. Though it was cleaned by a 'new cleaning company' there was no checking on us afterwards or any real apology. The poor service really ruined the stay.

This is a really nice cosy property which has been thoughtfully decorated. Really well equipped kitchen with everything we needed - even scales - and a jacuzzi bath which was great after a long day in the countryside! Nice quiet location - we never heard our neighbours and could hear all the birds outside. Nice large bath towels. Cosy blankets in the lounge. Nice big dining table. Easy to find. Would stay again.
pillows weren’t very comfortable- a bit too solid for us! we couldn’t figure out how to get the coffee machine to work! I received a lot of identical emails from the rental company about payment even though I paid in full upfront through booking.com. finally, I didn’t like SUPERHOG - the company used for onboarding - as they tried to get me to sign up to Ts&Cs I thought were unfair. but I called the rental co and they just said I didn’t have to sign them - so I didn’t!

Lovely cosy cottage is nice location, extremely handy for Malton which has an abundance of unique shops and cafes, Supermarket and plenty of takeaways to choose from.
The cottage is on the small size but is more than adequate for a family of four, cleanliness could be improved slightly but not to deter from the cottage itself, it is not privately owned therefore lacks the usual final touches.
We used it as a base for taking the kids to Eden Camp which I would highly recommend and is less than 10 mins drive away.
The local pub, The Grapes, is also recommended for a drink and food.

location was good, pretty village, good pub, close to tourist areas. cottage attractive, bed comfy, modern interior
downstairs hadn’t been cleaned, dog hair in kitchen and living room. hard to get a hot shower in morning, due to water pressure in the village. We had to either get up early or wait until later. also had to actually climb into bath to turn shower on as glass door wouldn’t open, only then to find it was cold. Made it difficult with 4 of us, to get out of house at a reasonable time. The first morning we hand to wash over kitchen sink! upstairs landing was very creaky, which didn’t bother us much, but could easily wake small children or disturb others if using toilet in the night

Location and cleanliness
Much smaller than anticipated and in no way could 5 sleep there despite what they claim as only 2 rooms. My partner and I booked a four night stay at summer cottage with our two children (7) and (5) and the family dog.
The cottage is in a rural village location but it was a great location as a base for our planned days out (NYMR, Dalby Forrest, Scarborough, Whitby).
The cottage is small, but in my opinion, a perfect size for a family of 4 for a short break. It is well kept, cosy and welcoming with all the modern touches (Amazon Alexa, Smart TV, central heating etc….).
The contact from the host was excellent and I have nothing negative to say about our stay. It felt like home from home and I would happily make a repeat booking.

Make sure you bring a travel cot mattress with you if you are travelling with an infant as Stay don’t provide these, much to our surprise. The cottage has a nice kitchen and amenities are good. It could do with a proper clean, however, in areas around and under couches/ beds. Location is fine if you use it as a base to drive to places. Looked like a nice pub in the village but we didn’t make it there.

Lovely small modern cottage with great local attractions. Maybe needed a little extra clean in some places but bedding and towels lovely and fresh. Well equipped kitchen. Great value for 3nights. Horses in the field opposite, situated in a quiet little village :)

The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a short break. Easy to find, ample parking and lots of nice little touches to make the most of the space.

A wonderful cottage, in a quiet peaceful location. The cottage was ideal for us (a family of four; kids 7 and 5). Super clean and super cosy.
