Apartment was nice. Clean. Comfortable enough for a couple of nights.
Had all we needed to cook meals.
Very close to whitby town.
We had free parking on the car park 300yrds away but only because.it was out of season.
When using booking.com we have always found tea, coffee, and toiletries available.
There was 1/2 a toilet roll and 1 sachet of coffee. Normally I pack just in case but this time I didn't. Typical.
The property was really cold when we got there so would be nice if that was on especially in the colder months.
The bed was huge but a big dip from one single bed to the other.

Fantastic location close to the shore and old town. Side sea view. The foot operated lamp switches were good.
Could do with more clothes storage space.

The apartment was ok for somewhere to lay our heads after a busy day exploring Whitby. BUT it is in need of refurbishing and a good clean.
Positives:-
Good location if you enjoy a steady stroll down into Whitby centre.
The apartment itself has a side seat view from the living room window which was a nice surprise.
The bed is nice and comfy.
Wi-Fi and good tv which came in handy one morning when there was a bad storm.
Negatives:-
Unfortunately the decor and soft furnishings let this apartment down and is looking a bit tired.
There’s paint missing off the walls, stains on the rug and other furnishings
We had to hoover the floors and clean crumbs off of the dining table and chairs before we could use them.
The hoover in the apartment isn’t the best and did also try to hoover up after our stay but it didn’t look that much different.
There was a very strong smell in the hall ways up to the apartment that did linger into the apartment when you opened the door.

The location was great, very close to most things, the apartment was ok and had a good kitchen area etc. it had everything you needed for a short stay.
There was a free parking permit for street parking close to the apartment which was very handy.
We found that the sink and shower were very blocked in the bathroom, the staff were unresponsive when contacted no response received.
We ended up clearing the problem ourselves.
The bed could do with replacing as one side was uncomfortable to sleep on.
There was half frozen food left on top of the bin in the kitchen going off.
We weren't very happy about having to pay £250 deposit with a £10 admin fee attached. When you leave they take up to 14 days to return deposit minus the £10. This was a first for us.

Great location, the flat was ok, but very tight space around the bed and into the very small bathroom, this is not obvious in the photos. Have to agree with other reviewers and the attitude from Host and Stay. Very unresponsive and automated when they do respond. False platitudes from previous reviews as nothing has been done. Such as cleanliness, stained carpets, the bed being too big, the corridors being damp and musty odour. We also found the bathroom sink is extremely slow to drain, I would say it was almost blocked!
Most annoying yet again is the hidden £25 non-refundable charge for accidental damage!! Even worse as an alternative pay £250 refundable with a £10 admin fee! This is sheer profiteering and nothing I have seen from any other air bnb properties. All costs are usually highlighted on booking. I have booked with this company before via air bnb and reluctantly had to again due to availability of properties, but will avoid in the future.

Good location.
The place was extremely dirty, hadn’t been cleaned properly. Floor was dirty, carpet stained dust in most places, toaster had old crumbs on it. Behind the door looked like an animal dropping.. behind the bedroom door there was layers of dust, cobwebs in most corners.

Good Location,
Dirt swept under the bed, Strong smell of fish in apartment, sink dirty, stains on rug in living room, crockery not washed properly, strong smell of cat pee on corridor. Would not recommend staying here.

Great location, lovely flat and communication from Host & Stay was excellent.
I feel that the mattress is now due to be replaced, but it was still a comfortable night’s sleep.

the location was perfect. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to see and do
we thought there would be a washing machine as advertised but when we arrived there wasn't one, only a dishwasher. There were no laundry facilities anywhere close to the accommodation They expected us to use the same towels for the duration of our stay. We found this quite unsanitary. We complained but nothing was done. When they finally decided to give us fresh towels on our last day, they were going to charge us a delivery fee. We said forget it and made do.

Kerb appeal is not good, unkempt exterior and obvious damage to the apartment's door. The apartment itself is very small; the bed is huge for the space which means there is no storage in the bedroom. Instead there’s a coat rail with hangers in the sitting room and storage boxes under the tv. The bathroom is well decorated and the shower is good though the toilet roll stand was quite dirty. The kitchen was adequate for a short stay but the cupboard under the sink wasn’t clean.
For a 2 night stay the apartment was okay but we would have struggled for space if there any longer.

Took us a little bit of wander around finding the apartment building and the door number. Maybe provide photo of the doors and building/landmark or map to guests prior to checking in. Living room rug need replacing a new one as dirt and stains put us off stepping on it barefoot. Cleaning can be improved. Garbage bin not fully functional. We have not used the kitchen utilities so cannot comment on that. Apartment is near primary school so can be noisy on school opening ang closing. Is not noise proof. Providing shower caddy will be useful. With king sized bed, space on room is compromised. As a frequent user of airbnb, it was my first time to use a third party person to pay a non refundable security deposit £25 that is mandatory prior to checking in.

No breakfast, location good for walks and town.
The bed was far too big for the room, very small space to get in and out of the ensuite and very poor on clothes storage due to amount of space the bed took up!

I loved how close this property was to the beach and to the city center! It had amazing WIFI and cable access, anything you'd need in the kitchen to prepare your own meals. It was so cozy and comfortable.

The hosts and their people were friendly and helpful
I didn’t stay I immediately booked somewhere else to stay, even from the outside the building was not very nice looking, there were 2 splits in the door to the flat as if someone had tried to kick the door in, the rug in the living area was covered in stains although it had been cleaned, loud music was coming from next door, the bathroom could only be accessed by climbing off the end of the bed this is not a suitable standard of property for a holiday let

If you’re looking for somewhere close to Whitby Centre, this apartment would work as the bare minimum. But it’s not the kind of place you could relax in.
Cleanliness is a massive issue. The cleaners left an extremely shoddy job for our arrival with kitchen cabinets full of dirt, dusty floors, and food-stained dishes. The apartment complex reeks of something resembling B.O. which you just have to learn to live with during your stay.
For the apartment, walls are remarkably thin. Very few basics are provided. Given the £25 non-refundable deposit, I didn’t expect to spend extra on washing-up liquid, more toilet paper, and sponges because of how stingy Host and Stay’s provisions are.
The deposit itself is particularly harsh and profit-driven given the two options provided will mean most people have to choose £25 non-refunded as they can’t afford to wait 14 days for £250 back. Host & Stay provided less than the bare minimum throughout our stay.

Big comfy bed the shower was nice and hot and powerful. Kitchen well equipped.
When we arrived there was a key in the key safe for the Abbey Nest apartment but there was no sign on the door of the apartment in the building to indicate which door was Abbey nest. So we checked all the doors in the apartment building to find the one that the key opened.
After booking the apartment we found that there was an additional £25 change for an insurance policy in case of any damage. You had to pay for parking at a charge of £9 per day. The settee wasn't very comfy. There was a smell in the boiler cupboard.

Before we arrived, I ensured that Private Parking was available, messaging the host on Airbnb to double check. However, when we arrived on the day we found out this was not the case and instead I had to park in a public car park which was nowhere near the accommodation. Being out of pocket having to pay for 4 nights of parking I contacted the host who would only pay up to £20 even though the parking was much higher than this.
The actual accommodation is nice, great location and many fantastic restaurants around. However the inside of the accommodation was quite dirty, there were unwashed dishes in the dishwasher and lots of dust around the bed and sofa.
Also be aware that you must put down a non-refundable security deposit of £25 pounds, and they will not let you stay there until you have paid it.
Overall, the accommodation is nice, but there were a lot of extra headaches around booking though a company on Airbnb which is usually not the case.

the location was superb, very easy to get and about and not far from a car park, the apartment was very clean and comfortable it had everything needed, nice touches in the kitchen leaving 2 tabs for the dishwasher and washing up liquid, very good supply of kitchen roll and bin bags
the wifi wasn't the best it kept dropping out whilst streaming on tv, however didn't spoil our holiday at all,

Small and cosy.
Had to pay for parking, other hotels let you know of free parking around the area.
Toilet was broken when we arrived. Considering you ask people to be out by 10am to get the room cleaned and sorted, I was surprised that something like this wasn’t even fixed.

I booked the trip for my boyfriend's birthday present, as I had stayed in a Host & Stay apartment in Whitby before and it had been a great apartment - I was very pleased with this one too! It was very charming, cosy and colourful. My favourite thing was the bed - HUGE and super comfy! I also loved that you can see the sea from the dining table. Perfect!

Large damage deposit (or smaller non-returnable fee). To be fair, this is mentioned on website (we missed it!) but even so it seemed excessive and unusual

The apartment was very cold, the reason for this is there is only a small electric wall heater in the living are which is not sufficient. We complained to stay and host several times about being cold and they promised another heater that never materialised. The owner wasn't bothered, he sent an electrician around apparently who said it was warm enough. The windows are in a poor state and the curtains are that thin they was blowing every night with the draught coming through them. It was so cold for the whole week, we had to put extra clothing on to keep warm and then went out and bought a heater ourselves.
The door to the apartment looks like someone's tried to break in with dents in the wood. The whole building is very scruffy looking from the outside.
The bed is two single beds put together which makes it super king, with a lump in the middle. The quilt was superking size but was put into a kingsized cover, so it didn't go over the ends of the bed. We had to put pillows and furniture at the two windows curtains to try to keep some of the cold out.
The sofa is uncomfortable and the furniture and decor is looking very tired and uncared for. The rug in the lounge area was filthy and stained.
All in all, I would not recommend anyone stay here, get a refund if you have already booked, there are much better places to stay in Whitby, with hosts that care about your wellbeing and comfort.

Fab little 'nest' at the top of the hill with a glimpse of the sea from the bay window, even through all the scaffolding. Nice touches like the provision of the little things you may have forgotten to pack: tea, coffee, washing up liquid, beautiful shower gel...
... but I will never book through Host and Stay again. What's a Manhattan-rehistered company doing managing East England holiday let's? Making money, is what. Booking directly with H&S would have been £20 cheaper but was to be paid in full months before with no cancellation possible - so I booked through Booking.com. But then I still had to lend H&S a refundable £250 as damage waiver... and it cost me a £10 admin fee (charged by superhog) to lend them £250 until 3 weeks after we got home, so they could make absolutely sure we hadn't broken anything. Alternatively I could have bought insurance for £25 instead of lending them money. The sneaky charges were bad enough but in all dealings with H&S I was made to feel a criminal, guilty until proved innocent. I resent that, and the worry about maybe having to keep arguing with the agent made the whole stay much less relaxing and enjoyable.

It was in Whitby. The bathroom was fine apart from the few bugs we found .
Extremely small apartment. The corridors smelt disgusting like sewage ! Couldn't see the Seaview due to being surrounded by scaffolding . Very noise at certain times due to the drama school below .Dirty kitchen roll & agew bugs in the bathroom.

The bed was really comfortable. The location of the apartment in terms of being close to the town was perfect. The apartment looks modern, and we had pretty much everything we needed.
Unfortunately, the apartment hadn't been cleaned properly upon our arrival. We found that the hoover hadn't been connected properly, so hadn't picked up anything (food, hair, and dust, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom). We sent pictures to Host and Stay of this and were offered a re-clean, but we opted to do it ourselves.
We found that there was scaffolding erected on the left hand side of our window (living room) and then later on in the week, further scaffolding was built on the other side and over the top of our window, meaning our view was restricted. We contacted Host and Stay through the Booking.com app to find out if building work had been planned. They said they were unaware of any further works for the week but would find out further information. We didn't hear back from them after this. Luckily, there was no further works that week.

This was a last minute booking for us and quite hurried, so the happy outcome was great. Host and stay's legal preamble was a bit of an offput but not oppressive and the owner himself was friendly and welcoming and the apartment absolutely ideal, though the bed was so enormous that it was a squeeze to get to the bathroom! But no complaints. This is a well equipped and welcoming place to stay.

Well furnished and finished to a high standard and very good location. Good value for money. The facilities were good.
The apartment could have been better cleaned - the floors needed sweeping and the kitchen sink was dirty. The shelf and mirror in the bathroom were also not very clean.
A bar of soap in the bathroom would have been useful.

Good location. Right on the beach.
Took over an hour to get in to the property as mix up with verification. Trying to speak to company and sort it all out was much harder than it needed to be. Floor was sticky on arrival and under the table was dirty. Also 'sea view' is taking the biscuit when you have to push yourself against the window to see it.

The location was great, very central and could walk everywhere.
Getting in was easy and the hosts were proactive in their communication.
Only cons I would say is the shower cut out a few times and had to be reset. There was dust on the bedroom floor/skirting boards and the cleaner hadn’t hoovered under the sofa. But otherwise it was great. I would stay here again.
Dave

Property was clean and had everything we needed including tea coffee and sugar which we were very impressed with👍
TV wasn't connected to any sort of Ariel or TV service at all so couldn't watch any TV,
Although it was a smart TV so we tried to log into one of our own streaming services but the internet would not work, on investigation and eventually finding the router it was unplugged.
Electrics may need testing as the electric shower worked but kept tripping the fuse quite a few times per shower.
Both these issue's were quite frustrating.

Location, cleanliness, comfortable bed. Decor beautiful. Had all needed items.
Would have liked a more secure lock on the interior door to the apartment. Maybe a bolt across?
Sofa could be more comfortable.
Exterior doesn't look inviting ,but interior makes up for it.

Apartment was clean and modern
Hallways and stairs need some attention. The key safe needs clearly marking as the correct one for the property. There are indents/marks on the apartment door that indicate that someone has tried to break in. Mirror opposite the shower so you can see yourself showering 🤨.
Windowsills were dusty.
One side of the bed has a cheaper quality mattress.
Bathroom is very snug but serviceable.

it was modern and very clean. centrally located. a bonus was free parking cards to park near the apartment. the bed was wonderfully comfortable, had the best nights sleep in a long time.
nothing everything was good.
I would say though that it was a surprise that after I booked I was then sent a text to pay a security/breakage bond of £250. this was not mentioned on the booking site . so it came as a bit of a surprise .
