I stayed with friends in Faulkner Street, The Georgian Quarter, Liverpool for 2 nights in November.

The flat itself was fabulous minus a couple of blips such as toilets not flushing properly, the bath taking forever to drain whilst showering and the front bedrooms being rather chilly but other than that all was great.

I would however have given this visit 5 stars if it hadn't been for Host and Stay emails prior to visiting. The first email advised that £80 would require to be collected at the property due to Liverpool Council requirements, I contacted Host and Stay to discuss this but their team knew nothing about it and advised they would look into it, they then e-mailed me back advising they were still investigating the matter then I never heard anything else about it which I thought was strange to say the least.

Their second email requested check-in to proceed however during check-in their deposit scheme reared its head and offered two choices, first was to pay £350 and receive a refund if no damages occurred minus a £10 admin fee (for what?) alternatively, if damages occurred these would also be deducted.
Second choice was to pay a non refundable deposit of £35 to cover any damages, what a con!! These extra costs should be included in the booking price and broken down accordingly like the cleaning charge, waiting the week before travel is not acceptable and is a way of simply conning more money out of people as you can't visit until you check-in and these costs need to be paid during check-in.
I for one will be hesitant in booking any of Host and Stay's properties in the future, very sly and unprofessional indeed ......

The apartment is in a good location with beautiful surroundings. There are local pubs and cafes close by with the main bars and restaurants a walk away or short taxi ride. The apartment itself was beautiful, modern and very spacious.

My only issue would be the sofa bed, it was not the comfiest, so if you have more guests than beds, the sofa bed is not a great option. Other than that, the apartment was great and I would definitely return.

The accommodation, facilities and location were great.

Nothing really. I suppose having access via the front door would have been good. And would have given us more convenient and quicker access to the nearest pub, across the street, The Belvedere. But we can't complain, as The Blackburne Arms was close enough.

Please be aware you may be asked to leave if found in violation of this rule with no refund given. • Key collection is from 15:00 unless the early collection is arranged before arrival. This will be subject to availability and charged at £20 per hour. This also applies to dropping the keys back later than the check-out time of 10:00. • We are a non-smoking building. £250 will be charged if any signs of smoking are found following your stay within the flat. Please use the designated smoking area located at the back of the building and do not smoke in front of the building - Guests found doing so will be subject to a £100 charge. • Unfortunately reservations with large groups under the age of 25 will not be accepted.
