Apart from initial smell of smoke in communal areas Rookhope Arch was clean with good facilities. We stated with our elderly dog and it was perfect for her too. Would definitely stay again and hope our private patio area will be weeded next time!

New and clean apartment. Location is quiet, but there is a pub and supermarket nearby. Bed is a bit on the smaller side.

An excellent base: comfortable and well positioned. The village good facilities ( cafe, shop, two pubs - one serving food). The apartment is very new and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and everything was in good working order, although the shower pressure was low and we had to keep it on the eco setting which provided little more than a dribble of hot water!

Nicely decorated apartment with a super comfy bed, be aware that as this is a ground floor flat you could potentially have a lot of noise from anyone in the upstairs accommodation. The village is a great location.

Large comfortable flat in a really great location for walking, cycling, exploring area! St Johns Chapel had just enough amenities (shop, cafe, 2 pubs) for our needs. The flat could do with a few extra kitchen utensils, a coffee maker and better wifi.

Very clean & tidy. General decor and finish feel very fresh & new. Location is excellent - quiet for walks & exploring, but next to Co-op, cafe & pub (decent food). Also parking. Overall good

Lovely little stay in a very small village that has a shop and 2 pubs. Gorgeous river just minutes away. Waterfalls a plenty and gorgeous views for miles around. Apartment was spotless, recently re furbished with all the amenities making it home from home. Recommend if you want a quiet break away. Ensure to book in the local restaurants before you go to ensure you get a place as everywhere books up quickly with the covid restrictions!

We had such a great stay in this apartment. It is in a beautiful location, perfect for walks, great views, and great access to the local shop. My only note would be that the wifi is not great (although this can be a good thing if you’re wanting a bit of an escape). The tv is also not hooked up to any channels, but is great for using with Netflix/Amazon. We would definitely stay again!

We highly recommend this apartment in St John’s Chapel. It’s an excellent base to explore the North Pennines. The apartment is newly refurbished and so brilliantly clean. It’s thoughtfully equipped with a washing machine and little touches such as Tupperware. Check in is easy by using a key code and a lockbox, so you’re not under pressure to be on time. The place is easy to find and is true to the pictures. The local amenities are what makes this a truly great place to stay. Both the below premises have been recently refurbished and under new-ish management. A few doors down is Chatterbox cafe, with excellent coffee and the Weardale breakfast. Also make sure to visit the Blue Bell Inn, where the landlords will make you very welcome. We enjoyed a few good nights here...

We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights and had a great time. The appartment is right in the centre of the village and one minute’s walk (maximum) from the cafe (nice breakfast) and pub. The appartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived and has evidently been very recently refurbished - everything was new. Difficult to find any to criticise - although the wifi was intermittent.

Was a great stay here and extremely clean. Within a 2 minute walk of a nice cafe and a co-op shop so won’t have to go far for what you need. Also public footpaths and nice walks. Only downside is the WiFi, as the TV streams off it, so made it pretty hard to watch anything. However we didn’t use it much so wasn’t a problem, after all, don’t go away to watch TV!
