The place is in beautiful location for sure, however there was a wasps next just under the eves of the door way so we had to tackle them going in and out. The shower door was off its hinges but we managed to mend it, that was also the case of the wardrobe in the Ocean room. The taps were heavily covered in lime scale that could easily be cleaned which I did.
The window looking out to sea was dirty and you could see hand prints from a child all over it, the sill was very dusty.
Bedrooms were very dusty the top of the bed head was thick with dust and so were the light fitting. Floor hadn't been vacuumed in lounge so was very hairy but again we had a good clean up so we could enjoy the rest of our stay. Having said all this we had a lovely time and if was lovely for our doggies.

We needed somewhere to stay in order to attend my father's funeral who lived in Hinderwell so the location was convenient.
The decor. Such a mishmash of styles and masses of random ornaments. Not as clean as I would have liked. A bit tired.

The Cleveland Way is literally on the doorstep. You really couldn't ask for better. The large picture window in the lounge has spectacular views over the coastline.
Disappointed that there was no BBQ and outside space other than parking and one bench. The property is really well equipped but there was not much space to put your own things - no empty kitchen cupboards and lots of ornaments etc.

Viewpoint suited us down to the ground. We enjoy great views, walking spots and peace and quiet and we got all of that and more here. Our short break was to celebrate our daughter's 18th and the end of her A levels and it was perfect for her.
Apartment was clean and super comfortable and had most things we needed. As others have said, there is a bit of a lack of a few essentials that you can bring as long as you know beforehand, notably washing up liquid and a tea towel.
Another reviewer mentioned a shower head for the bath and there is one , the bath is fab in fact!
We would definitely choose again for exploring the N.Yorks coast.

This was great for us and the property worked well and we can recommend it.
Super location and easy walk to Staithes.
>Note that the steps to the beach below (for fossils) have been washed away and you need to be physically able to get down the slope using the ropes. Not for children.
>Note (see other reviews, so we were warned) that the cupboards really are completely empty. Not even salt& pepper. Still a surprise and a first for an AirBnB stay!

Incredible location. Very spacious accommodation.
The finer details of the place needs updating. The bottom of the shower doors need deep cleaning. The shower temperature is no adjustable and very hot. The tap for the bath doesn't work or stay on and is not secure to the floor. The hot water wasn't easy to figure out and when we did eventually get hot water, I had to shower with my daughters straight after my husband so we'd all get atleast a rinse before it went cold again. Radiators, taps and rails all need descaling and deep cleaning. Some visible mould in corners of rooms and a noticeable smell of damp in the first double room

The views from the front window was exceptional, looking over the headlands. Very clean and tidy place, with a 20 minute walk to the Badger Hound pub in Hinderwell. 2 very comfy double bedrooms, one on suite. TV very easy to operate, which isn’t always the case with these new Smart TVs. Nice to be able to walk either way from the property as it’s on the coastal path.
Judging from the visitors book, the property hadn’t been used for a while and initially it was very cold, it would’ve been nice if a little heating had been on prior to our arrival. It should be noted that the property is on the ground floor with another apartment above- this wasn’t occupied during our stay so it was very quiet, which might not be the case with people above.

The internet was terrible. I read some reviews before so kind of knew what to expect, but it was even worse than that. And the fees they charged were ridiculous: £90 for cleaning, for instance!!!
Rachel

We would defo stay here again! It was larger than expected and very quiet, we heard no noise from any neighbours and it was silent at night.
There is parking right outside directly on the Cleveland way walk, so perfect if you’re hoping to explore that.
It felt homely and there were all the kitchen crockery etc that you might need.
The only downsides were there was no enclosed garden to let our dog out in (but this isn’t on the description, it was my error) and the internet is very slow.
That said it wouldn’t put us off coming again because the location is just so beautiful and the apartment ideal!

Despite paying the management agent a cleaning fee we were disappointed to find dead wood lice, hair in the rugs and dirty cutlery.

That aside, the property was suited to our requirements with two bathrooms a plus. It is in a convenient location, overlooking the bay with opportunity to witness the sunrise and offering the costal walk into Staithes and Runswick Bay

Fantastic apartment - spacious but cosy, and with a perfect location overlooking the bay at Port Mulgrave and down towards Whitby.
The hidden charges imposed by Host and Stay. You either pay for over-priced insurance (£25 for a 3-night stay) or have to leave a deposit of £250, which also carries a £10 non-returnable admin charge. This charge was not even mentioned until we'd paid for our stay.

A good location for access to the cleveland way walk ways. 10 minute stroll into the local village.
We suspect the property has not been used regularly as there was a musty smell due to the heating being off. When we arrived the property was cold and took a long time to warm up on the inititial evening. (end of March time)
Host and stay are the management company for the property and was informed after completing the booking through booking.com (paid in full) that an additional fee for insurance (£25) was required or a £250 deposit. The message from Host and stay was pay this fee or we cancel your booking, not the best approach to this stealth tax. This should be included in the booking fee with Booking.com rather than relying on customers to cough up the extra after completing the initial booking. Booking.com had check out at midnight on our last day which I thought was very generous. 08:00 on the day of leaving we received a message from Host and stay saying we needed to vacate by 10:00am or be subject to further costs.
For this booking we must have received 10-12 messages from Host and stay, I suggest host and stay needs to get their act together and present these properties as intended when advertised through Booking.com, After 10 years of using Booking.com this is the worst booking experience I have encountered. Not what I expect.

This is a wonderful home and the views are incredible. Nice spacious apartment lovely walks around. You can walk to the pub about 25 min walk each way or short drive. Close to all local areas and central point. Only downside was the wifi, I know this isn’t a must when on holiday but handy to have wifi to search for local places and if travelling needed to work etc this wouldn’t be possible here due to lack of 4g and no wifi. I would 100% return and recommend lovely place.

The location - right on the Cleveland Way and with an excellent view of the coast. The appartment was well equiped with cooking utensils etc.
We arrived (in late December) to find the property very cold, with the the heating not switched on. The beds felt a little damp, and the electric fire in the living room was also broken. To be fair the property did heat up, but only by the following morning after we had left the heating on overnight. We reported the broken fire to the owner on the evening we arrived and he (and an electrician) did come round the following morning, but unfortunately they couldn't get the fire working. The owner also apologised for the fact that that the heating hadn't been switched on, explaining that this was due to illness.
The booking was handled by Host and Stay, and we found them to be extremely aggressive - and there was a hidden charge (a damage waiver) that we were not aware of when we booked through booking.com. Upon booking we were told that we either had to pay a £25 damage waiver, or pay a £250 damage deposit plus a £10 administration fee. Our booking with booking.com allowed us to cancel the booking with no charge up until a week before arrival. Despite this Host and Stay took payment immediately and then sent repeated demands for us to pay the damage waiver
and sign an agreement committing us to paying the full cost upon cancellation. The tone of these emails was extremely aggressive and we were threatened with our booking being cancelled if we did not comply with their demands. I notice that other people have made similar complaints about Host and Stay on TrustPilot. We personally would not book another property managed by them.

Nice view and 2 Bath rooms
Clean except for the Kitchen! Which is a complete Desaster!!

It's a beautiful place to stay. There is so much to love about this place.... Beautifully presented, airy and spacious... lovely bathrooms. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The situation and views are absolutely wonderful.... perfect for walkers. Great parking. A tranquil, relaxing location. Highly recommend this place!
The internet .. you have to sign away your privacy to use it so all your activity can be tracked for marketing purposes.. so I couldn't use it. I found that intrusive and off-putting unfortunately.

Beautiful apartment with the main attraction obviously being the view. We have just spent two nights here and it was amazing and were very sad to leave. Wonderful remote location with amazing views, perfect if you want an escape. Great walks direct from the house less than 2 miles to Runswick Bay and Staithes, and other coastal towns within a short drive. It’s spacious with nicely decorated bedrooms and bathrooms; the roll top bath is fabulous. Kitchen’s well equipped other than a lack of sharp knives. Let downs were a foisty smell in the property that remained throughout our stay, poor or no wifi connection most the time, TV & Netflix not working, and couldn’t locate the books/games/dvds advertised, so if hadn’t brought your own, entertainment could have been lacking if you weren’t able to get out and about. Overall had a great stay but some aspects of the property itself could have been better.

The tv has Netflix, but couldn't tune into the usual channels. Not that we cared, Netflix was all we needed on a night. Great location, easy to get to all the usual places, Whitby, Scarboro, Filey, Redcar etc. Eating out, we ended up at the Spa Hotel in Saltburn & the food was absolutely delicious!! Also, just have to mention the outstanding views from the flat, there's a reason it's called Viewpoint. Fabulous, would definitely recommend. Thank you for a great stay 😊 Sally, Lisa & Karen x

The setting was amazing! The pictures do not do justice to how serene and peaceful this apartment was - and we loved the added plus of the pedestrian and canine traffic as they headed out on the paths near the house. The house was spotless and the hosts were super responsive to our questions or concerns. It is a short drive in the Whitby - but no matter how long you stay, you will wish you had just planned to stay here longer!
