I have stayed at a few properties via Host and Stay. But unfortunately, we won't be booking with them again. George House in Whitby was not up to our expectations. It was £603 for 2 nights, so not what I'd call cheap. It hadn't been cleaned properly for a start, which is unacceptable when you're being charged over £100 for a cleaning fee. The location was great, parking was a bit of a pain, but we expect that for Whitby. There was one toilet roll for a group of 6 and no bins in the bathroom or kitchen! If you're just looking for somewhere to get your head down, it wouldn't be too bad, but we wanted somewhere to relax and enjoy the space. Plus the price is not reflected in the property. Such a shame because the previous property we stayed at in Whitby with H&S was really nice. I know it won't be a great loss to them, but we won't use them again.

Staying at Captains Retreat Whitby. Arrived Friday 5 days ago for a week's stay. Host & Stay manage the property. On arrival no Internet or TV (Smart TV). This has still not been fixed or an alternative provision made. Host & Stay did not even contact owner for 3-4 days. Kept promising it would be fixed or someone would visit but no action. All lies. Turns out Internet has been disconnected presumably for non payment. Promised reconnection Monday now Wedneday evening no change. Other problems stained smelly carpets (need proper clean), table legs broken so wobbling all the time, chair leg loose, smelly toilet downstairs. So AVOID Host & Stay (poor or no service), and Don't stay at Captains Retreat (accommodation not fit for purpose).

Such a terrible experience with Host & Stay in Whitby. Broken bed, filthy exterior and interior and smelly drains. Host & Stay are not transparent with their costs. You are forced to pay a £60 cleaning cost, you should expect a certain standard. We left this place early and found a beautiful property for our final night, our friends who we visited in Whitby were horrified when we invited them in. This company unfortunately makes Whitby and Airbnb look bad in all of this. By far our worst travelling experience in 30 years worldwide. My advice…Stay away from Host & Stay.

We did not enjoy being locked out of our accommodation until the following day or when we tried to get in, being charged £250 (which we still haven't had refunded in full). Once we got into our accommodation, it did not help having to clean the previous guests rubbish of the kitchen surfaces. It also did not help when the did not have the amenities they described. As a paying guest, it does not help being ignored for 10+ days regarding a complaint and eventually having to have Airbnb refund you themselves as they acknowledged Host and Stays have violated their terms. Not great service!

Very convenient and stylish apartment, we love everything. The location right at the big carpark opposite the mini golf, we will book this apartment again.

Stunning accommodation in the heart of Whitby yet quietly hidden away behind the impressive Bagdale Hall. Clean, spacious and with all the mod-cons (ironing board, utility room, en suite bathroom). Has its own parking bang outside the front door. 3 bedrooms. Would love to return in winter and make use of the log burner in the lounge. Only minor gripe is we couldn't get the coffee machine to work but I can't speak highly enough of this place.

Lovely house with great amenities, located in a beautiful village. Unfortunately the experience was somewhat let down by wifi going down on the second night and it was not sorted before we departed after a week stay. It was 4g wifi that ran out of credit which it seemed like we were expected to pay to top up. Contact made with host and stay 3x who have called back once but sorted nothing out. Very disappointed by the lack of contact and lack of resolution. Wifi is not everything but when there's no live tv and everything on there needs wifi and there's a restless toddler, it is difficult to keep her occupied after a day of hiking or when it's raining outside.

The cottage itself was lovely and full of character, as well as being very well situated. The WiFi worked well especially downstairs. However, a series of small details that could easily be solved would have improved our stay. There were 6 of us, but there were only 3 mugs in the kitchen. There was a coffee machine and some capsules, but the capsules weren't the right ones for the machine. We were given a bath towel each but there were only two hand towels, one in each bathroom. There was only a small bar of soap for each handbasin with no other toiletries available. Two of the bedrooms had no wardrobe or shelf space and only a small bedside drawer, and there was nowhere to leave suitcases. There were several drawers which when opened had pieces of paper on top of the contents saying "owners property, do not touch". This is not something I would expect to find in a short-stay rental home. In general, a nice properly but could be greatly improved by sorting out these details.

We loved our stay in the Townhouse ,Ashcroft Mews, Seaham. This house is just fabulous inside, modern , clean ,very comfortable ,cosy and well equipped . The two double beds are super comfy and the kitchen perfectly equipped for creating meals to eat in the lovely dining space inside or outside in courtyard area with good patio furniture and attractive plants surrounded by a border fence for privacy. The bathrooms are new and tastefuly fitted . Please don't let it's location , just set back from a road and bordering a cemetery ,prevent you from booking. On first arrival it's front exterior seems a ittle unattractive but it's a great place to stay !

We stayed here for 3 nights, however unfortunately we would not stay here again. Upon arrival we discovered the property is actually on 3 floors, with lots of steep stairs. This was not made clear on the booking page as we would have booked elsewhere had we have known. This may be fine for couples without children, however it makes things much harder with children. One bedroom is on the ground floor and the other is on the very top which is also not ideal for couples with children. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable and the TV did not have access to actual TV, which is not really acceptable. We did not have a netflix account (the only service seemingly available on the TV) so were left without anything to watch once we got the baby to sleep for the night. The location was ok considering proximity to the cathedral, however it is located in an alley behind several restaurants, and the curb outside the windows seems to be the smoking spot for the staff of all of the local businesses, meaning the place smelled strongly of cigarettes for large portions of the day, especially in the morning. There were also lots of drug addicts hanging around outside at all hours due to the alleyway location. Did not feel very safe. The listing says cot is available on request, however it is actually a low quality travel cot which didn't seem very sturdy, meaning we couldn't use it and had to have the baby in the bed with us all 3 nights. The bedroom is also very hot and stuffy unless you sleep with the window open, which we didn't want to do as there seemed to be a very bright light outside the bin area which lighted the bedroom up quite strongly all night, disturbing the baby. There appeared to be the front cage of a fan left at the top of the stairs for some reason, but no sign of the actual fan, which would have been nice. The "freezer" was actually a tiny box in the fridge barely large enough to fit 2 ice trays in. The downstairs toilet was very difficult to flush, meaning we avoided using it, and one of the chairs in the living room was very dirty with several large stains on it and the footrest. Checkout time was very early and there are no facilities to securely store bags once we checked out, meaning we were left dragging our heavy bags around with a buggy on the final day of our holiday making things much more difficult and essentially cutting a day off our stay. Got woken up by extremely loud glass bottle collection at about 5am almost every day of our stay, terrified the baby. Carpets were dirty. The kitchen clearly had the bare minimum done to be able to claim it was fully equipped. Overall we expected a lot more for what we were paying.

Great location - walking distance to local shops/bars and cafe. Well presented and well equipped accommodation with secure small garden with seating area. Short driving distance to places along the coast Would definitely recommend and re-visit.

In a nice quiet estate with fields and the coastal path very close, the house is in a very convenient location. There was enough space for us, our 2 young kids and our small dog. Having the outside space is all convenient but it is small very concrete and needs a little tlc. Not somewhere we wanted to sit and relax. Whilst it had been cleaned and the linens were lovely fresh and white. The smell of stale smoke as we came in each time was really off putting. Some areas had clearly been recently updated with modern appliances. But the en-suite is not one of those. Seahouses is lovely and a brilliant location for exploring the rest of Northumberland. We’ll be back, just not to this property.

Beautiful apartment furnished to a high standard right in the heart of Liverpool. Very comfortable beds, loads of space. We were concerned it would be noisy as very close to Liverpool One shopping centre, pubs and restaurants but we had no issues. There were tower fans available that served as white noise just in case for the children but they slept better than they do at home! Excellent communications from the hosts prior to and during our stay when i had a query. Response within the hour. Would highly recommend.

very cosy little cottage, ideal for 4 people, great facilities. A great base to explore Northumberland. Views across to Holy Island were lovely, worth getting up early to see the sunrise
