Great stay in The Glaisdale, Whitby. 2 bed apartment right in the heart of the town with all the sights and sounds within walking distance. I recommend staying here over a hotel or b&b if you like to have a bit more space and are with friends or family.

Stayed at The Fern, York, for 3 nights this week. The apartment was immaculate! Clean, modern, and the little touches made a difference! Everything you needed was there! Communication and information from the host was perfect! Would certainly recommend! Thank you!

Just returned from a two night stay at this lovely apartment in Whitby. It had everything we needed and more. Comfy beds, powerful hot shower and the toiletries were great. There were books, DVDs, games, jigsaws, even some children's beach toys. We didn't use them but the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are excellent additions if staying for more than a couple of nights. Loved the overall feel of the place and it was situated a short walk from the whale bones and town. A peaceful spot.

Watch out; 10pounds administration fee for the deposit, no communication anywhere + Middle in the city of Liverpool, a lot of noise

The cottage isn't the easiest place to find. Paradise Row is signposted, but the cottage is at the end of a terrace of what look like private residences and it's necessary to walk across the back gardens of the other properties which didn't feel right, so I gave up on my first attempt and retreated. I asked a local and it was correct, so I retraced my steps but this time, I crossed all of the gardens to the end property - Eden Cottage. The keys are left in a box and you are given the code to access two keys. It would have been useful to know that one of the keys wasn't needed. After many frustrating minutes of trying to open the door with the older key, I gave up and tried the Yale lock, which worked. Initial impressions are of a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge, a downstairs shower room and two nicely presented bedrooms - a double with en-suite and a twin room. However, closer inspection was a bit disappointing. Unfortunately the drain in the downstairs shower hadn't been cleaned properly and there was a clump of hair still in the drain. I chose to sleep in the twin room, but as the room is a dormer, there is no room for a wardrobe (in either bedroom), so there's a cupboard with hanging space (but not long enough for dresses), attached to a shelf and two drawers. To say this cottage sleeps four people, you would struggle to accommodate clothes for a stay of more than two or three nights. Parking is a bit hit and miss, although I was lucky enough to get a space on the road by the cottage. When the causeway is open (observe the tide times, which are easily available online), the island gets very busy but that's fine. You aren't allowed to waiver from the check-in and check-out times though so it may be worth checking the tides before you book. For example, I had to leave the property by 10am but the crossing didn't open until 11.15am. Not a huge wait, but when you're all packed up and the car is loaded, it's nice not to have to hang around. My timings were relatively OK, but it's well worth checking so that you can make the most of your stay, especially when getting on to the island. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a welcome pack, not even a biscuit or two. There's a small Post Office with a very limited stock and there are no provisions in the cottage, apart from six small milk sachets in the fridge. The lady who was staying in the cottage next door got a bottle of milk, juice, wine and chocolates. She had fresh roses and a cupboard stocked with tea, coffee and sugar. It is a self-catering holiday so I imagine you would be prepared, but it's worth knowing that there's no supermarket on the island. I was under the impression from the website where I booked, that the cottage was very close to the sea, but this isn't the case. Nevertheless, Holy Island is a fascinating place and well worth visiting.

Enjoyed our stay here, the property was clean and well maintained with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen, just a little noisy late at night in the area

Avoid! We have let our holiday homes with Host and Stay for a few years now. We were happy enough to start with but things are getting worse and worse as they continue on their seemingly never ending quest for world domination. Overseas call centres, awful customer service, very difficult to get anyone to speak to you when you have a problem. They still call themselves a family run business but I’m afraid we consider those days to be long gone, as we will be very shortly.

Stayed here Feb 2024 half term with my 2 kids (aged 11 & 7) as family are in Guisborough. Ideally located for the High Street, local supermarkets & bus routes. Dining area, through to living area so lovely & quiet in the evening. Modern decor & appliances throughout. Beds very comfy. Would recommend if you're in the area - only thing is the stairs are slightly steeper than a normal house but I just asked the kids to come down on their bums 😊 One tip - upstairs the heating doesn't need to be as warm as down as it circulates really well to keep upstairs warm as there's just the 2 bedrooms.

The apartment was lovely with great views and very comfortable. The instructions on hot water and heating could have been clearer. We had cold water the first day as we didn’t know that the “instant” hot water is not instant at all, it actually heats up in a tank overnight. When I asked about it, I got a nonsensical reply from a Host and Stay bot. Not great. Luckily I worked it out for myself but if I didn’t have a smart phone, there would have been no way to get the instructions. Perhaps leave a paper copy in the apartment?

Don't not book this place, next to three major night clubs, loud music all night, middle of the night drunk guys banging at doors, they are using this place to bring girls. not for family or any decent person. without knowing I booked for three nights and left same night, requested them to refund no reply yet. no staff at this place.

Stayed for 3 nights at their apartment in the Georgian Quarter in Liverpool and it was really lovely! Was short walk to the centre with shops and bars close by. Apartment was nice, clean and cosy and was just what we needed. Free parking available which was good. Would definitely stay again!

The flat is beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean and extremely quiet. The location opposite the old city wall is convenient for walking anywhere in the old city and a large supermarket is steps away. We would stay again when visting York.

Unreal place. Quirky and super cute. Had everything we needed and more. Super close to Durham city to get to places too. And very near big shops. Will definitely stay here again when in the area

We had a great weekend at Greengate Cottage in Hutton le Hole. Finding the place was a breeze, even though we messed up the directions at one point. Luckily, one of the neighbours was super nice and walked down the street to show us where to go. Checking in by ourselves was straightforward, and the cottage was spotless and tidy when we got there. The towels and bedding felt brand new, which was a nice touch. Hutton le Hole is a lovely village, and we really enjoyed the local pub, "The Crown". They were really good about catering to our family’s different diet needs. The only bit that wasn't perfect was having to check out at 10 am on Sunday, which felt pretty early. It meant we had to rush through the morning, getting the kids ready and packing up the cars, instead of enjoying a relaxed breakfast. Even though Host and Stay tried to give us a bit more time by talking to the cleaners, they only let us know 30 minutes before we had to leave, which didn’t really help. All in all, we were really happy with our stay and would definitely book this cottage again. Cheers for a fantastic weekend!

Great, modern apartment in top location in town centre. Everything worked well and lovely view of the Abbey to wake up to. Only negative being asked for a £250 deposit or £25 pound damage waiver. If you pay the deposit they will keep it for 7 days and charge you £10 for the pleasure. We paid the 25 but would prefer if they just added it to the (reasonable) price.
