The owners have put a lot into the decor, the apartment is lovely and in a great location. Host & Stay who manage the bookings on behalf of the owner really let them down. The cleanliness and maintenance of the property are certainly lacking. I’ve rated 5 stars as most poor reviews go unnoticed, hopefully you read this 5 star review to see what the apartment is really like. Please think about staying at a property managed by Host & Stay, and hopefully they will put this right for the owners. I looked at the good reviews for the property we stayed in, the poor reviews are probably the most honest. We stayed for 2 nights and put up with the issues we had, we wouldn’t have stayed any longer.

What a lovely holiday home, Ellerbeck is. Everything you need for a very comfortable holiday. Clean and all amenities provided. Comfortable beds andin a quiet location but very handy for Whitby.

Our stay at Sunbeam House in Saltburn on Sea,was amazing. The house was immaculately clean and well equipped, very tastefully decorated throughout. The beds were so comfortable. it's a short way to the town and the beach, couldn't have been better.

Celebrations for my daughter 18th. Fantastic location and they felt very safe and secure. Apartment was kept clean will definitely be booking again

Good place to stay as it’s very central and surprisingly quiet. Easy instructions for access. The apartment was clean and tidy with good sized bedrooms. The living area/kitchen was smaller than expected. It could be better configured to enable both eating and dining, without having to move any furniture. The two sofas are definitely past their best and should really be replaced. Uncomfortable and challenging for anyone with back issues. Having said that it was still a good place to stay and would recommend it.

I wouldn't recommend staying at a Host and Stay venue. I was disappointed with them from the start. First, I asked them to cancel a place that I needed to cancel due to a mistake I had made with dates (I asked them within 24 hours), asking them if I could change to another venue at another time, and they refused. Next, we got to the place and the internet / WIFI was not working. I was there for 4 days and it didn't work the whole time. They kept on giving me the run around. Then, there were parts of the place that wasn't properly cleaned (for e.g. there was a used towel on the rack, and the bathroom mat was dirty and smelly). Also, you must pay a "security deposit" of 250pounds! It is supposed to be paid back within 14 days, but it took longer to be reimbursed, I had to ask 3 times for it to be paid back. I think this is all about volume and money for them, no real customer service. They just refer you to the 10 page long T&Cs document. Will never stay with them again.

We did not enjoy being locked out of our accommodation until the following day or when we tried to get in, being charged £250 (which we still haven't had refunded in full). Once we got into our accommodation, it did not help having to clean the previous guests rubbish of the kitchen surfaces. It also did not help when the did not have the amenities they described. As a paying guest, it does not help being ignored for 10+ days regarding a complaint and eventually having to have Airbnb refund you themselves as they acknowledged Host and Stays have violated their terms. Not great service!

I have stayed at a few properties via Host and Stay. But unfortunately, we won't be booking with them again. George House in Whitby was not up to our expectations. It was £603 for 2 nights, so not what I'd call cheap. It hadn't been cleaned properly for a start, which is unacceptable when you're being charged over £100 for a cleaning fee. The location was great, parking was a bit of a pain, but we expect that for Whitby. There was one toilet roll for a group of 6 and no bins in the bathroom or kitchen! If you're just looking for somewhere to get your head down, it wouldn't be too bad, but we wanted somewhere to relax and enjoy the space. Plus the price is not reflected in the property. Such a shame because the previous property we stayed at in Whitby with H&S was really nice. I know it won't be a great loss to them, but we won't use them again.

Stayed here before . Steady walk downhill to beach but not too far and good exercise coming back to base.. Nice comfy beds. Good sized towels but surprised at the omission of hand towels . TV easy to operate.

Stayed at the Puffins Nest for 2 nights with Family. Parking was tight with a large Jeep and difficult to navigate around a blind corner onto gravel. There was no garden to enjoy as described in the description. Entry was easy up the metal stairs. Apartment was very spacious with a good size kitchen which had all the equipment we required for our stay. Only issue I would say is the hot water is extremely hot and could cause burns if not careful, the crockery needs to be updated as a lot of this was chipped. And the kitchen could do with a deep clean as there were areas that I felt was overlooked. Living room was very large, however there is a lack of comfy chairs / sofas, only 1 small 3 seater and a small arm chair, this would not be satisfactory for 6 people .. the table was beautiful but this was imposing in the room and felt it unnecessary and could be replaced with chairs or sofas to heighten comfort of stay. TV was limiting with just free view to watch and could not mirror from iPad as it’s not a smart TV..Netflix would have been good. Main master bedroom was large and spacious Other bedrooms, both rooms did not have blinds fitted, these were broken and could not be rehung. Despite previous reviews mentioning the broken blinds and emailing before I left with my concerns regarding the missing broken items these still had not been fixed which was very disappointing, hence the 3 star review given so had to hang a throw up at window. One of the beds would not accommodate 2 grown adults as this seemed to be a very large single, the other bed was a small double. Bathroom did not have a mirror nor did it have a blind fitted either. Plug in bath did not work so couldn’t have a bath. Only 1 toilet roll for 4 adults was supplied so had to purchase our own. I will say however Charlie was very responsive in his replies when I messaged him and he assured me that all these items had been addressed and the broken items repaired or replaced none of these things had happened, this had a massive impact on my decision not to cancel the property before hand as we were assured that all was in working order. Had we known this wasn’t done I would most definitely have cancelled. when messaging him at he property he said we could have had maintenance out to repair these, not sure if this would have happened during our stay tho. Overall we had a good stay and the views were outstanding we saw dolphins could view the castle too.

The best part of the property was the comfortable bed. Unfortunately, this positive was offset my many negatives. This property was booked through Homes & Villas by Marriott. This property is well below any stand that would be expected from a Marriott property. Here is a list of the items of concern that I found upon arrival: stains on bedroom carpet, water damage to kitchen table, damage to hardwood floors, disgusting food stains in the freezer, broken drawer in freezer, misc shelf brackets laying around that appear to have fallen off a wall somewhere in the unit (location unknown), bathroom wall baseboards stained (possibly mold), damaged baseboards in other parts of the unit, corner shelf in bathroom nearly falling off the wall, toilet paper dispenser partially falling off the wall, and a broken washer/dryer.

Cottage was beautiful and in a great location for walking to town and the heritage railway. It was clean, comfortable and had all we needed for a lovely stay. My only gripe were the amount of emails reminding me that if there were any breakages they were chargeable even though I'd taken out an insurance.
