This is a lovely cosy cottage in an adyllic location, with The Roaches behind you, visible up the hill, and the Tittesworth Lake in front of the cottage. It's all pretty well equipped, bu there were a few issues; PROS - * Lovely comfy king size bed, & v cosy bedrooms * Great views & very quiet location away from it all. * Well equipped CONS - * Horrendous noise that blows & whistles down the chinney breast in main bedroom, with even the slightest breeze outside - the ireplace is right behind your head too. This kept I'd awake every night, it stopped being funny very quickly! Hosts need to plug this & insulate it from wind noise ASAP. * heating was not controllable, and it was WAY too hot in the lounge. We had to have the windows wide open the whole time we were home, even in the evenings which is so wasteful! Please put thermostatic controls in! * cleaning in most areas was fairly good, but behind settee was v dusty, as was mirror in bathroom, & fake plants had cobwebs on. I'm allergic to dust, so want great for me. * kitchen workspace is very limited, although we managed with this ok, but just to be aware * most of the double glazed glass sections had blown, so was hard to see out of many windows due to them being fogged. However, we had them open most of the time, due to the heating issue! * the shower attachment can't be hooked to the wall as this has been removed, so a shower isn't possible, - it's a hand attachment only over the bath * some other maintenance issues too - rotting window pains, & some black mold around front door, let's overall finish & experience down, sadly As a result, as lovely as this cottage could be, we wouldn't stay here again, sadly

Stayed at Old Rectory for a week commencing 10 August. Property described as “beautifully renovated to the highest standard” on the website actually turned out to include: - driveway with overflowing bins and litter, - excessive heat due to the requirement of the AGA being turned on constantly - black scuff marks, damp and crumbling plaster on the dining room wall. - crumbs and food traces in drawers and cupboards - greasy fingerprints on cupboard doors and fridge - dirty inside of microwave - greasy, uncleaned oven trays - baked on food on top of AGA and tiles surrounding - dirty tiled floor (including sweets squashed into the tiles) - dirty cutlery in drawers - dirty cutlery left on outdoor table; - 8 chairs around the table despite it being advertised as including “seating for up to 10 guests”. - questionable stains on the sofas (which we hoped were yoghurt) - tables covered in sticky substances - dead flies on the windowsill. - Sink not draining properly in downstairs shower room - Greasy marks and face print on windows in doors - Litter behind the sofa - Faulty shower that does not turn off - Broken floor board hidden under carpet We were unable to open the level access door to the side of the property. Owners Host and Stay promised that these would be sorted out. Cleaner didn't arrive for reclean until late Monday morning. Maintenance person arrived on Wednesday but was unable to fix the door or the shower.

Stayed for 2 night, absolutely beautiful! The beds and pillows were a dream. Had a travel cot and night chair also. Sofas were very comfortable. There is a car park across the road for a small fee. I will 100% be staying again, I didn’t want to leave! Less than 5 mins to walk to the arcades etc on the front. Pictures don’t do it justice

Made a booking for two nights, and later checked with the team about the step free access because of my disabilities. They mentioned it doesn't have a step free access and it would be better to cancel. Since that day (6days before the checking date) I contacted both host and stay and booking.com requesting a no penalty cancellation, but both kept on referring eachother, without actually helping me, and at the end charged me for full 2 nights, without me being their at all.

Lovely cottage, well furnished and decorated, perfect couples retreat. Quiet location with walks from the village and a well stocked shop nearby. Great as a place to drive to other locations from or to park the car and leave it parked for the dutration of your stay.

We only stayed a couple of nights but the location was excellent, the apartment was well decorated and very comfortable. Access was easy and instructions were clear. Parking was also easy just 100-150 meters away. Also, we had a good evening meal at the Dirty Bottles (it's much nicer than the name suggests!).

We stayed in one of their property based in Hartlepool for Christmas and had a horrible experience. This property completely ruined our Christmas plans. None of the listed amenities were functional, including the heated pool and entertainment system. The kitchen and toilets were unclean, making the experience even worse. We also faced electrical issues throughout our stay, with no assistance provided. Despite multiple attempts to request a refund, we were denied and only received a mere 12% of the total amount we paid as compensation—after spending a fortune on this place. Overall, a terrible experience. Avoid this property at all costs.

Was promised a parking permit, which we didn't get and spent £44 on parking. The accommodation was not clean at all, we realised it was due to the hoover being blocked, was not bothered by the cobwebs, so we serviced the hoover and did it ourselves, They did offer to send a cleaner, but did not want anyone near our valuables. It has taken 3 phone calls, 10 AirBnB messages, 8 emails to Host and Stay and 27 days to receive the refund for the parking and our cleaners fee. Not to mention the time and stress this has taken. I had to do all the chasing every step of the way. They like to send generated messages as replys. My husband also left 2 shirts behind by mistake, we have not been contacted about this either, and personally do not have the energy to chase it up. The accommodation was beautiful and would have loved to stay there again but unfortunately our experience was tainted. We were there to celebrate our 20 year anniversary so it was a shame that this happened.

I am sharing this review as landlord of a short term let property I have with Host and Stay. My business partner and I have 2 properties with them by default as Host and Stay bought Guest Homes the company that were managing our properties. Since Host and Stay took over management of our properties, they have not paid us the correct amount of revenue on all 5 months since October 2024. Having both underpaid and overpaid us, they currently owe us in excess of £3000. We had also been assured that come Jan 2025 our management fee would be lowered to 10% + VAT, this has also not been actioned and is further money they owe us as a company. I have raised these issues with them and have had no response other than the secretary for nearly 3 weeks as I write this review. Apparently their finance department is not customer facing and therefore there is no one from this department that I can speak to either via phone or email. Currently we are stuck with this company due to the amount of money they owe us and until this is resolved we will have to remain. So to any landlords looking for a prospective management company. I wouldn’t go anywhere near Host and Stay.

We had a lovely 3 days staying at Emilyn House recently. We were a group of 5 adults & 2 dogs & we found the accommodation great for us all. It’s a beautifully decorated house with very high quality furnishings & fittings. Everything you could need is there & the position of the house, close to the sea was fabulous! Will probably book again & would recommend.

Terrible experience dealing with them. The property I rented had signs around the building clearly stating short term rentals are not allowed and guests will be asked to leave. When I contacted host and stay they told me not to worry about the signs with no further explanation. We also found black mold, crumbling floors and blood and urine stains on the mattress

Place I stayed at was great. The customer service is probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. I needed my receipt to be broken up in the first 30 days and the couple weeks following(for work). Pretty simple request that I’ve never had an issue of a company doing before. I called 5 times over 2 weeks and was told my problem would be resolved within a day or two. The “customer experience manager” or something along those lines told me I would receive a call from her the next day and she never called. Her excuse for blowing off a customer that had already paid in full for a 6 week stay was “it was busy”. She then refused to email or call following up about the issue or even a “hey we’re not going to elevate this any higher” because I had requested a manager about my experience.

We stayed at a property near the bombed church in Liverpool. First the good stuff- this property is in a great location and comes with one on-road parking permit. Grocery shop and multi story car parks are nearby, quiet location but a step away from Bold Street. It is well heated. The managing company also respond quickly. However, there may be enough beds to sleep 12 but there are only enough sofas to seat 7. We had 5 mugs, 2 wine glasses and cutlery for 5 on arrival. There are 2 bathrooms in the house, 1 of which is an en-suite - so really 1 loo for the other 10 people. The loos have sliding doors and the main loo door fell off the first time it was used. One of the beds had been made up despite being broken not having a single slat in place. We mended this but it will keep falling out as the bed has not been put together properly so the slats are too short. In addition all the loo seats move and the bathroom taps are not plumbed in properly. The cooking trays and shelves in the oven were also all greasy and covered in food. Otherwise it was ok! We just got on with things - luckily we had good weather and things to do so we’re out most of the time.
