I wouldn't stay here again, nice apartment, clean and presentable. However very small and low beams so had to walk around crouched down which was uncomfortable. Not suitable at all with a newborn baby and the amount of stairs to get up to the apartment. I know the clue is in the name but still felt like we was mislead by how many steps there was, 55 to be precise and then more steps up to the apartment. We was only provided with 1 coffee sachet for a whole weekend when there were 2 adults which I thought was so rubbish. We have always had an array of refreshment choice with booked accommodation. There was only 1 tiny mirror in the bathroom where again you was crouched to actually see i. The mirror as the beams were so low. No mirror in the bedroom or landing which again was very inconvenient and hard to get ready without a mirror to see. Cold apartment with old fashioned heaters taking ages to warm up. Expensive for what resources you actually got.

We arrived at Upton House at 10pm at night, which the hosts were aware of, to find the key code given was incorrect and we couldn’t get into the apartment. I contacted the phone number for it initially to go unanswered. Finally we got through to be told repeatedly us not being able to get access to the key was “user error”. They finally accepted there might be a chance the code wasn’t right to ring us back another 10 mins later to give us a different code, which worked. No apology. Given at this point it was nearly 11pm we were relieved to be inside only to then find the temperature in the apartment was at 12 degrees. We adjusted it but it was absolutely freezing and we had to sleep in our clothes to be warm enough. It was horrendous. The following morning I requested a refund and two weeks later after messaging numerous times and being told conflicting information I’m no nearer to getting a resolution. Ultimately, nice apartment but the customer service is terrible. If you don’t want to be left without access and/or freezing and being strung along with lies, find alternative accommodation.

The location was great, size and layout of property were good. If there are no problems with check in etc then the communication is fine, price was good, check in info etc good, very much sounds like most of it is communicated with AI. The impression on arrival was that the house hadn't been stayed in for a while, there were a lot of small moths, it was cold, bedding was missing for the number of people booked, bedside drawer was broken and a lamp didn't work, there was a strange smell in the bathroom and the blinds are missing above the door so the sofa bed is overlooked from houses opposite. It also seemed a bit tired, there were dubious red marks on one of the bed throws, the sofa is stained, the single sofa bed is pretty old, when you open it up, the two end sections drop right down to the floor so it's like sleeping on a bridge! We arrived really late, and forunately, the second family arrived the following day, as it would have been really frustrating to have missing bedding for 2 guests after a 6 hours journey. None of this would have been an issue if there were a person to answer the emails. However, despite explaining the situation very clearly, the response was the same and didn't make sense - hence the assumption it was an AI assistant. It wasn't possible to communicate with anyone on the arrival night, and took a considerable amount of time and effort to get hold of someone to sort out the issues. We were travelling for a funeral, so not ideal to be spending the day sorting out bedding. Once we got to speak with someone who wasn't AI or in a call center, housekeeping came and delivered linen, but it wasn't the right things. The property could be great with a little bit of attention to detail, it just felt like it's more set up for groups of friends or stag/hen parties than for families or people not just wanting a bed for the night.

Amazing property, in a superb location next to Whitby Abbey, catering for all our needs for a comfortable and relaxing break. The property is situated in a fantastic location, with stunning views both from the property over Whitby town and coast and along the costal path close by. The brewery / pub round the corner is also a great addition to the area and easy access down into the town either by foot or car. The communication from Host & Stay was exceptional, answered all messages promptly and we had all the information we needed - the online, downloadable guide of the property was an excellent touch too. Travelled with 2 teenagers and a dog and all thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

The Host and Stay property we stayed at could have been lovely the owner had replaced both bathrooms and bought nice soft furnishings ,curtains and artwork but the property was badly managed and the property was incredibly dirty .We had arrived late to find a property which was extremely cold and it felt unwelcoming .There was 1 toilet roll for 2 bathrooms ,no welcome gift not even a biscuit ! Host and Stay did say after seeing the photos they would re clean on the Monday ( we arrived on the Friday ) We asked to be moved to a clean property but they said they didn’t have one for us .We decided that we would clean the property ourselves on the Saturday evening as we couldn’t relax at all .There was dust , dirt ,hairs and even excrement on the side of the toilet .We spent a total of 4 hours cleaning .Later that evening we got a message saying someone would come on Sunday .I explained we had done it ourselves but the house would need a deep clean after we left to improve areas we hadn’t cleaned .We didn’t clean the drawers out so couldn’t put our clothes away as dirty .I cleaned 1 cupboard so i could put some food away but left the rest .The property with a better property management company could be amazing .It needed deep cleaning and the fire safety improving to comply with the regulations .I will never again rent a property managed by Host and Stay .

Great house for a get a way with friends and family. Beautifully decorated throughout. Cinema room was a real treat. Garden could be more secure as dog friendly..large gaps in fence. The Host & Stay team were really helpful. Managed the book in process extremely well. Response to emails was very quick. On line guide book is a great idea. Only real let down was that we couldn't use the outside area in the bright sunshine due to smell of fuel which was a shame. Otherwise it would have been a 5 star review.

Very smooth process at the beginning. Booked 10 months in advance for 19 people for a hen party. 6 weeks before the hen I got an email stating my booking was cancelled and will be refunded with no explanation. When I contacted them the two females I spoke to were extremely rude and could not give me a reason either. I asked to be contacted by a manager which needless to say nobody contacted me. Left with very little options as my stay is a bank holiday weekend for 19 people in Liverpool. Poor poor business

Well appointed. Comfortable beds. Walkable to the restaurants and the beach. Would stay here again. Some noise from the restaurant downstairs - but only in the living area.

Great communication, made our break really easy by providing loads of information before we arrived so we were all prepared. Would not hesitate booking with them in the future.

Cancelled our stay 72 hours before we were due to go! Claimed it had been double booked even though the original booking was 3 months ago. Then had the audacity to say the refund could take 10 to 15 days to process and a further 3 to 5 days to appear in my account. When challenged blamed Airbnb for the delay in refund even though previously when I’ve had cancellations, the refund has almost been instantaneous. Will never book a stay with anybody using this company again.

Had a lovely stay. But the company said They would leave me a review in my Air bnb profile but only if I left them one first. I kept reminding them of their promise as I left it clean and tidy and gave them a good review. They now say Because it's over 14 days they can't leave me a review. I am annoyed because I think they tricked me into a review....

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Abbey Nook in Whitby !! We went for 2 nights and it was fabulous, the apartment was fully kitted out so could easily make meals at home, and in a brilliant spot in Whitby, honestly would recommend to everyone and all!
